User Image If it wasn't bad enough that Liza was already late to class, earning a scolding from the teacher, then the fact she couldn't concentrate made it even worse. She had tried for the first half of the lesson but after that her head had started leaning further and further forwards towards the desk. Instead of fighting it the witchling had put in her earphones, folded her arms on the desk in front and put her head down. The teacher however had already caught this notion; she sighed, making her way over and slapped her hand on the desk. The vibration rumbling through the table made Liza jump, blue eyes widening in panic, she pulled out her ear phones and raised her hands up in the air, gesturing 'mercy! Mercy!'

"Please don't kill me! I'm listening, I'm listening!" Liza pleaded, although the teacher looked disinterested in what she had to say. "If you're not going to pay attention, Liza Miyake, then at least make yourself useful." The teacher stood up straight, eyes scanning the room questionably. They settled on a light haired boy. "You." She curled her finger, signalling him to come over to her. "You two will run an errand for me. I have some papers that need to be delivered immediately. Something about class field trips."

Liza blinked blankly, looking off to one side to spy the poor victim she had been paired up with. She smiled over at him and waved, as the teacher collected the papers that needed delivering. She got to her feet quickly, a little too eager to get out of the classroom. 'Phew... At least this will keep me from falling asleep. Plus I get to hang out with quite the cutie, this day might not turn out so bad afterall.' She thought happily, lips stretching out in to a grin. When the teacher returned to them, handing over the paper, she warned them to go straight there without fooling around.

"No need to worry about us, we'll get the job done."
Liza nodded, a chuckle following as she looked over at the other witchling, winking at him. Hopefully he got her drift. In her head, it was a chance to catch a break and try wake up a little however she wasn't sure if he would take it as the same thing. He certainly looked like the type to want to get the job done. Subconciously, Liza was tapping her lip with her finger then she shrugged and turned to him.

"Remember, straight there. Straight back. Philemon, keep her in check please." The teacher reminded before turning back to teach the class; Liza pouting. She wasn't three years old, like the academy staff seemed to think.

It had been a long day and, quite frankly, the lesson wasn't the most exciting thing ever. Philemon never had particular trouble with sticking to lessons, however. Unlike his rather rash twin who, however smart, was unable to get his head around to working with them he had always had a level-headed approach to being a student in class, one that allowed him to absorb enough while paying attention that he only needed to later review his notes in order to structure the new-found knowledge neatly before storing it away at the back of his mind to be recalled when needed. Much like any other time, too, he had been meticulously keeping notes, his hand only resting when the teacher paused in his struggle to record anything as precisely as possible in order to be able to work them out later. He was paying little attention to what the other students where doing around him until there was a pause for the teacher to scold a girl that appeared to have been spacing out.

Phil fixed his glasses up his nose with one hand, and leaning his elbow against the desk he rested his head on his hand as he turned to watch how the scene would unfold. The girl was rather familiar to him in appearance, they were taking classes together after all, it would have been stranger if she hadn't reminded him of anyone but he couldn't recall her name or having talked to her before about anything. His first issue -the young witchling's name- was quickly resolved by the teacher herself who clearly addressed her as Liza Miyake, the second was about to come to its fateful conclusion as well.

"You." he nearly fell off his seat, not having expected to be called out so suddenly without having done anything wrong in particular. "Y-Yes?" the stuttered reply was a lot more vague than he had wanted it to be and his voice a lot more startled than what he had anticipated. He stumbled over to her, awkwardly removing himself from his seat and nearly tripping himself over his desk in his way there only to find out the exact nature of the ordeal he was being faced with. And just like that he was dragged off in an errand meant to be for the girl, Liza. Document delivery didn't sound so bad though -it could always have been a lot worse- and he had been feeling a little off, the lesson seeming a bit too mundane that particular day.

He waved back at Liza when he was greeted that way, a small, defeated smile curving the edge of his lip as he was handed the papers and reminded to keep the girl in check. He paused for a moment to wonder why was it that he had to do that. She was a grown girl, about his age, she was probably in the academy on her own save for the off chance some of her siblings was also attending -as was the case with him- so, normally, she should be able to take care of herself just fine. Irony, he noticed, thinking of such a thing when he could hardly keep himself from getting hurt every other day. They expected him to make sure she'd be alright? Of course he'd do his best, but... "I understand. We're going to be fine, really." he smiled at the teacher. In the end it wasn't as if they were setting out to some kind of dangerous mission or anything. There was nothing that could possibly go wrong with document delivery, or was there? "Let's be on our way." he smiled over at Liza quickly making his way out of the classroom.

As soon as they were alone he took a big breath and exhaled, calming himself down in the process. It had been a slightly awkward situation, being dragged into an errand in the middle of class with everyone else just staring. He stretched and turned to Liza, eyes glimmering calmly behind rectangular lenses. "So, uhm... Miss Miyake... may I call you Liza?" he questioned with a small chuckle just to be courteous. He offered his free hand to her, in a more formal greeting "I'm sure you heard from the teacher, but let's introduce the proper way. My name's Philemon Menniadis, but you can call me Phil if you like." he scratched the back of his head absentmindedly before asking one more thing -without thinking at all- "Uhm... just wondering but... what exactly happened back there?" he glanced briefly over his shoulder in the direction of the classroom. He knew it had something to do with Liza being absentminded while in class but then again... a lot of other students should have been too. Phil knew that not everyone was as attentive as they wanted people to believe.

User Image Liza watched the boy, as he fumbled around an agreement to the teacher, blinking a little blankly at the way he handled it. She followed him out, remaining quiet however she wasn't expecting what came next. The boy, or Philemon as the teacher had adressed him took a breath in and then exhaled as if the job was a little troublesome. For a moment, Liza's lips almost turned downwards at either corner, perhaps she had ruined the lesson for him? He may of actually wanted to learn what the teacher was preeching. 'Way to go, Liza.' She sighed, eyes finding their way to her feet.

She saw his figure move slightly, next thing a hand had entered her sights. She followed the arm it belonged to up to the boys face, who was staring straight at her. "Oh... Um... Of course you may!" Her lips quickly rearranged themselves in to a wide, cheerful smile and she happily took his hand giving it a gentle shake. It felt a bit strange, shaking someones hand by now she would of probably glomped a stranger for an introduction. He seemed far too formal to man handle though. "It's nice to meet you Phil. Interesting name by the way." She chuckled, taking in his awkward shuffling, then his hesitation to ask a question. Although, he was extremely polite, she felt lucky to have been handed the task with such a nice partner to forfil it with.

She stood, staring at him and then tilted her head. At his question, she laughed lightly, bringing her free hand to her mouth as if to hide it. Had he not being paying attention either? That was rather relieving. Her cheeks flared in to a light pink, eyes narrowing to one side as if to try look a little innocent, when in fact, she should have just payed attention from the start to avoid embarassing the both of them.

"Well... You see." She paused, retracting her hand to hold her other behind her back as she walked down the corridor a bit, then stopped to wait for him to join her. "I came in late and had a hard time paying attention. I think she has a vendetta on me, I swear!" She pouted, not being one to be shy, she then reached out to loop her arm around one of his. "Sorry for dragging you in to this mess... In case you were enjoying the class. Anyway, Come on then, we better make this delivery before she has both of our heads!" She chuckled lightly.

If only it was going to be that easy...

"Which teacher do we give these in to, again?"

Phil had fretted -for about a single moment- that he might have somehow offended the young lady when he came out to her so openly, his extended hand still lonesome and bright eyes desperately trying to read Liza's expression for any sign or motion that might indicate or hint towards the way she was feeling about this. Maybe she hadn't wanted company in the first place and the teacher had gone and ruined it for her... But there there was a smile and his hand was met by another as they exchanged a small handshake. Maybe it wasn't as bad as he made it to be, after all. He immediately felt a sting of shame bothering him as he repeated to himself that for all he loved being around people and making friends with them and getting to know all their variant personalities and enjoy them and their company he should really learn to be less distrusting and have more faith in their goodwill.

He laughed awkwardly at the mention of his name, his free hand moving to uncomfortably scratch the back of his neck. "Hmmm... Uh... hmmm" he fought to find a way to properly phrase his argument but found none too fitting. "Sometimes I feel like they wanted to make fun of us. Me and my brother both." he chuckled in all his uneasiness and shrugged while sighing. "They had a knack for picking strange names for most of my siblings too, what can I say?" some normality may have been nice for a change but he knew his parents well enough to know that 'normality' wasn't exactly a word in their vocabulary. Then again, he had no right to complain seeing that however weird his childhood had been he had no bad memories to speak of except a few things that had been either negatively surprising or unexpected -but one must learn to live with these.

Phil's mind skipped through the came in late part and the not paying attention part as they paled in comparison to the intriguing possibility the teacher's behaviour might have been a personal vendetta. "A vendetta, huh?" he mumbled absentmindedly. "That's so exciting, Liza!" he exclaimed childishly. "Do you two like the same guy or something?" a thousand conspiracy theories shimmered like hidden treasures in his mind. "Or... or are you two related, by any chance? An inheritance struggle maybe? Hmmm~" it had been a while ever since he had last played 'detective', his brother and him used to do it rather frequently when they were small, spying on their neighbors and trying to figure out what terrible secrets they must have been hiding. Of course most of their theories were entirely baseless and for the most part untrue.

He shrugged lightly and placed both hands behind his back when apologized at. There really was no need for that. "Ah, don't worry about it, really." he smiled gently trying to reassure Liza that it was perfectly fine and that he didn't mind that he had to tag along with her. "The lesson was dull even for her standards and one can only keep so many notes, you know?" he explained and nodded his head to underline his words.

He had to think back to if the teacher had mentioned any name and came up with nothing, puzzled he looked down at the papers he was holding trying to discern whether or not there was a recipient mentioned anywhere, but to no avail. "Hmmm... she... she didn't say." he admitted. "She said it was about field trips so how about we just stop by the faculty and ask who's in charge of that?" he sighed again "The thought of going back to ask her directly somehow looks rather frightening to me..." he admitted his smile fading to a slightly more weak variation of itself as he glanced over his shoulder to the direction they had come from.

User Image Liza's eyes slipped to the side, following to the boys face as he rubbed the back of his neck at the mention of his name, rather awkwardly at that, then explained his subtle dislike of it despite the unique quality it had. She couldn't help but chuckle as he openly talked about his family, it made her smile because from what he was saying, it sounded more like he loved them dearly, if not missed them a little. He was here afterall, they must have lived elsewhere, right?

"I don't think it's that bad, sounds like your parents just wanted you to stand out a little more, don't you think?" She asked with a smile, as he quickly shifted topic to comment on the vendetta that the teacher may, or may not of had on her;it sure seemed like she did though. With her late marks, it wouldn't surprise her in the slightest.

His enthusiasm, admittedly caught her off guard. He seemed to enjoy the reign of suffering like it was a detective novel, it was quite admirable in a way. One cuirous line caught her attention most and her eyes widened like saucers, freezing on him. He had gone to the academy some time ago and it wouldn't of been surprising if he had quite the reputation here, either.

"What?" She blinked, tone faultering in to panic than anything. "Like the same boy?" The other accussations seemed to blend in to the background as she focused on the possibility. Her childhood friend was older than she was and if her name had been mentioned... "OH hell no!" She yelled, throwing her arms up. "I can't believe it! Like she would have a chance." She huffed, retracting her arm to fold them at her chest. "No way, no. I won't believe it. If he was lying to me..."

She had to catch her breath in a gasp, realizing Phil was still stood there as she created a scene over something as silly as that. She blushed madly and shook her head. "Sorry- I guess, it is a possibility though. Maybe you could help me do some snooping sometime. Sounds like you're interested in puzzles?" she asked, finding it interesting. It would be delightful to see that side of someone, so cooped up in a mystery and watching them work, an assistant at hand. It sounded like a good way to get to know each other better.

She laughed, following his gaze back to the door towards the teacher. "After that theory, nuh uh! Never! Lets just play a game of guess who and see where it gets us!" That could not end well, but if he was willing to give it a shot, so was she. She smiled back at him, then stuck her tongue out playfully at him as she pulled him down the corridor. "First comes first, lets just check each empty classroom, we don't want another lot of heads turning to us now do we?"

Phil thought about it; stand out, eh? Well it certainly would seem like that to a third person but one would think that a family of that many members would stand out anyway, even without the unusual name choices. In the end he had no choice over the matter so it was pointless to try and dwell on it for too long. "I guess a name is but a name." he shrugged it off, still smiling. "Although it defines who we are it doesn't make us into that." he blinked at what he had said and raised an eyebrow. What was his doing spitting out nonsense like that without turning scarlet from embarrassment. "Do you think that parents give their kids names according to what they want for them to grow into?" it was a random subject to discuss, but since they had picked the whole naming aspect it wouldn't hurt to bring up.

Although he had supposed that his acting ridiculous and excited over the whole detective mystery about Liza and her teacher would surprise the girl he ended up being the surprised one as she appeared to spring right on the subject, grasping from one of the possibilities he presented almost as if it were an important fact. He couldn't help but silently wonder if that innocent mention from his point would cause a hurricane of events later on and where was he to run for cover should it happen. "Y-You think that she might like your guy? Really?" and even though he was worried that he might have really started a vendetta he couldn't help but hide his excitement. "Do you think she tried to seduce him or something? Is he a student here?" and he kept going, never minding what it might do. Or well, he did mind, there was simply nothing he could do to help himself. "Of course I'll help you look." he beamed. "And puzzles, hmmm... if that's what we're calling it, yes." he arched his eyebrows, deep in contemplation. "I think they're a nice break from the dull everyday reality, don't you?" he mentioned, crossing both hands behind his head nearly scattering the papers he was holding but saving them only barely.

And then he thought about it and sighed, giving up. "I guess we can, huh?" he shrugged. How bad could it be? It was just a game, after all and there were only so many places they could wander off to so it -normally- shouldn't hurt. "But... if the classrooms are empty won't it be, you know, a little hard to find a teacher in them? Although I do have to agree with you in that we've had enough embarrassment for a day." there was a quote to how much a person -even a person like Phil, could take.
