Name: K'day (Kadayon) [Kuh-die] Age: 15 Gender: Male Orientation: Assumed heterosexual Ranking Position: Jr. Weyrling Secondary Position: Bluerider Residence: Benden Weyr Status: Still soaking it all in
Description: As a child he was nothing short of adorable, and he has yet to lose much of his boyish charm. It's hard to call him handsome just yet but he's certainly growing into the word. With short-cut, chestnut-y brown hair and wide blue-grey eyes, K'day fits the part of Prince Charming well. His skin his smooth and tans evenly, giving him only a few sun-speckles on his shoulders and cheek bones from work outdoors. As he has yet to hit his growth spurt, he remains of an average height for his age, but his lanky build suggests that he'll grow like a weed once he gets going. His clothing, like his hair, is always in a near spotless condition, and he possesses a few of the kinds of trinkets his mother often wears on her uniform.
Personality: K'day is good looking and he knows it. Vanity, it seems, is a heritable trait, and he picked it up very obviously from his mother. In that way he had a good mentor; his mother always looked her best no matter what and he took that as a sign of good character. After all, who would want to talk to someone who looked like they just came from mucking the wherry pens? Certainly not him. (Please don't come see him after you've done something filthy. He can't take you seriously if you smell like manure and may flee before you can engage him in a conversation). Now that he has more control over his looks and doesn't have to rely on his foster mothers for upkeep he takes good care of himself, always making sure he looks his best before leaving his candidate quarters. Thread could be destroying the Weyr around him and he would still stop to check his hair one last time in the nearest mirror. His reflection is definitely distracting for him – and for good reasons – and he makes frequent stops during the day to ensure he still looks good.
While he definitely grew out of his childhood shyness, he certainly didn't outgrow his love of skirts. He has graduated from skirt-clinger to skirt-chaser, and can frequently be found using his good looks to charm the ladies (or at least, attempting to anyways). To those his age he plays the role of Prince Charming; polite, affable, and always ready with a compliment. Much like his mother, however, he does focus his attention on those he considers good looking or having good taste. He's much more likely to be seen in the company of pretty women, even if none of them are compatible with him in the slightest. Pretty faces are more important than good personalities, after all.
Older women are not immune to his attention, though he typically he uses his charm to schmooze them. Would you like some help with dinner, Cook? No, no it's definitely not out of my way! It's earned him the reputation of a suck up, while he denies the rumours he does appear quite pleased with the way he can get most people to react to him. It's clear that like most teenagers he enjoys doing what he can to wind the adults around his finger. In that way he's very much the devil in plain sight; to most he appears like a well-raised, handsome young man who could do very well in the future. He is, however, very self-serving, and holds his cards close to avoid getting taken advantage of. All of this is, of course, the dragon's fault.
Dragons are a bit of a touchy subject for K'day. He's old enough now to understand that his mother couldn't take care of him and a dragon (not to mention the fact that most riders don't take care of their children), but that doesn't quite quiet his earlier bitterness. In part he still blames Yvoth for taking his mother away, as she could have had a more active role in his life if the green hadn't Impressed to her. There's a direct feeling of helplessness and lack of control he associates with dragons, which lead him to try and control small aspects of his life to compensate. As such he is a very picky eater, frequently moving food aimlessly around his plate before he decides he wants to eat it. He is also quite possessive of his friends, often tell them who they can and can't talk to or demanding that they save a seat for him at lunch so nobody else can sit beside them. It's clear he has some insecurity issues, but he covers them up well behind his "Prince Charming" act.
One might ask why he continues to stand as a candidate considering his rather strange opinion of dragons, and there are a variety of reasons for it. The first is that it's what all the Weyrbrats do. Sitting out from an Impression would reflect badly on him and he has a good public image to uphold. The second is more of a kind of morbid curiousity. As much as he dislikes Yvoth for taking his mother, he can't help but be a little envious of the kind of relationships that riders have with their dragons.

Pre-Game As far as Weyrbrats go, the situation surrounding K'day's birth is more than little unique. Unlike most who are the products of Flights, brief trysts between Lower Caverns Workers, or perhaps even the conscious effort of a man and a woman, K'day's mother was scarcely made a dragonrider before she knew she was pregnant. It was certainly an odd choice to keep both a child and a weyrling, but K'day's mother saw it through. Thus, he has the rare opportunity of not only being the son of a greenrider, but also being born before his mother became a proper Wingrider.
Once he was old enough to be weaned he was fostered out to allow his mother to continue her studies and make up for lost time. Growing up he was a bit of a skirt-clinger, frequently hiding behind his caretaker's skirts and refusing to talk to other children. Most of the older women who cared for him just tutted and called him "shy", finding the trait quite adorable and frequently pinching his cheeks for it. His mother's absence wasn't particularly worrisome, since most Weyrbrats his age were passed around, but he felt a definite sense that he had been put aside for her green dragon. As a child he felt more than a little jealous about it and it has soured his opinion of dragons. He's managed to put some of it aside but he does make frequent frowny faces when he's sure his mother/any rider is talking privately to his/her dragon.
At the age of twelve he left the care of his final foster mother and joined the ranks of candidates. It's his third year standing and he is beginning to feel out other avenues in the hopes of possibly pursuing an apprenticeship should he not Impress. Currently he uses whatever free time he has to study with one of the tanners at the Weyr.

Name: Ninaeth Age: <1 Turn Clutched By: Bronze Bruinth x Gold Yirath Color: Blue Adult Length: ~27 feet Appearance: A medium blue in colour, Ninaeth is broken up by lighter blue stripes across his neck, body and tail. These stripes are accentuated with a much darker blue, as are his wing sails, hind legs, neck spines, and the tip of his tail. Though the majority of his claws are pale, almost white in colour, the claws on his hind feet are nearly as dark as the legs themselves. He is a well-proportioned blue for his size and will remain so even as he grows up. Perhaps a bit on the dainty side, Ninaeth will always be better at agility and maneuverability than stamina and may not be able to last an entire Threadfall (especially not with his "allergy" to hard work). On the flip side, however, his light weight makes it easier for him to chase greens, able to keep up with his fleet sisters.
Personality: Blue Ninaeth revels in the prestige of being the only blue born to this clutch. And what blue wouldn’t be? There’s five beautiful greens to grow up with and he’s the only appreciable male of the group! He doesn’t consider browns or bronzes competition because they’re always so caught up in serious business that he believes they forget the best part of life is chasing a lovely girl’s tail.
That said, Ninaeth isn’t exactly masculine in the truest sense. Sure he like his ladies but his mannerisms and thought patterns sometimes seem remarkably feminine. That is to say, he’s flirtatious without being crass, he’s in touch with his emotions and usually doesn’t hesitate to express them, and he adores the gossip the greens almost always seem to be steeped in. As a result some greens might think he’s just another friend, not really the ‘catch-me’ type while others might find him highly intriguing and easy to relate to. These feminine tendencies are just who this blue is… he likes being blue and he likes the freedom to not have be serious all the time – that’s for the browns and bronzes, thanks.
He’s intelligent and outgoing, and relatively good with self expression and words. When he’s keen on someone he can be awkward and easily flustered, however, and it gets worse the more interested he is. That’s his downfall, really. He’s able to join almost any chat with the greens, hang out, be buddies, but as soon as he likes someone he loses that smoothness. It’s really rather adorable and his efforts aren’t always in vain – it’s good thing he’s got the potential to develop a great reputation so his Flight Angst doesn’t burst his bubble.
It should come as no surprise then, that his work ethic isn’t that best. More of a socialite then a work horse, he’d probably make a remarkable Search Dragon. Should his rider manage to tame his social appetite, Ninaeth might make a decent wingrider as well – the forms might be a bit of a hurdle for the easily distracted and ‘work allergic’ blue however.
Clutchsiblings: Green Danath, Green Halifanth, Green Merenith, Green Tatath, Green Yanath, Brown Stoloth, Crimson Saazeyth, Bronze Acriculeth Opinions of Clutchsiblings: In a clutch chock full of greens, Ninaeth is completely at home. He enjoys the company of all of his sisters, even convinced the Crimson Saazeyth is just a green in a crimson's body. As for the boys, they don't worry him much. They're off dealing with serious business and Ninaeth is quite happy to let them.

Egg Clownfish Egg - Settled in neatly amongst the others, this egg seems to enjoy its position with four others somehow leaning against it. Anyone who touches this egg is greeted with a feeling of contentment, as if the dragon within knows exactly where it wants to be, though there seems to be a little bit of awkwardness too lurking beneath the shell. The size of this egg roughly indicates a green or blue. Kadayon's Thoughts: To be so calm and so sure about yourself, even when you were surrounded by eggs twice your size; it certainly was a nice thought. Perhaps the egg was just oblivious to its surroundings, though. It couldn’t know that beyond its egg lay more of its kin, waiting to hatch just like itself. Or could it? It would be a feat indeed if he could maintain such composure even when surrounded by its brothers.
1st Appearance on the Sands It didn't take long for the Eel Egg green to continue her pacing about the rest of the clutch, her eyes still the dangerous orange they had been from the moment she cracked from her shell. Every now and then she would cast a glance out and over at the Candidates, as though she were looking past them, but mostly her movements were spent on picking through the eggs that remained firm on the sand. A few times she actually nosed at one or two of the eggs, her eyes seeming to mellow for a moment, but there was a rumble of agitation in her actions as she paused in her process. But then! There-! Another egg had started to crack, the Clownfish egg, and the Green managed a hiss at the dark foot that shot itself through the shell. It was hard to tell the color, it could have been a dark blue or even a brown or green, but whatever was inside simply laid there for a few more moments. The Green's eyes whirled unhappily at the interruption, as if she took it as a sign that someone was trying to encroach on her special time on the sands, and with a huff she started off towards the Candidates. Her steps were unsure and uneasy, sending her wobbling on the sands, and any Candidate who dared laugh at her movements as she seemed to glide about was quickly met with a hiss and a rumble.
Blue Ninaeth The brown wasn't moving as he surveyed the rest of the sands from his spot, his every watchful eyes taking in all the faces of Candidates, dragonet, and full grown dragon alike. The red had long settled into a muted orange as he tried to place his judgements, quite certain that a welcome hand had greeted him at least once while he was in his shell. His was out there amongst all the faces, he knew it, but for the moment he didn't take a single step. . . which suited the friendly blue all that much more. His antics had drawn more attention as he went along, poking and prodding with his little beak against legs and hands and whatever else he could finally get his head against. It was only after this pattern of poke, poke, wander continued that he swung his head over to the table and watched the gathering of the greens that had grouped to be fed. His eyes whirled yellow for a brief second as though he worried for them, but the happy blue was soon back as he picked up his tail a bit and pounced through the sand. Stopping at the foot of a young man who'd been watching everything this far, the blue took a second to poke him again before rolling onto his back for good measure. It's time to join Ninaeth's friends, Kadayonmine~ I think you'll like them! The blue quickly got back to his feet and started off towards the table and his group of friends, glancing back over his shoulder to see if Kadayon was following. He was a little impatient to get over there and hear what they had to say, but he certainly didn't want to leave His behind either.
Impression When the Reef Triggerfish egg started to stir the boy couldn't help but stand up taller. He remembered that egg, remembered especially that it had been as uncomfortable as he'd been about the Touching. Perhaps there would be something in there for him. As soon as the thought arrived Kadayon quickly shooed it away. He wasn't going to stand here and cross his fingers, hoping that maybe one of these creatures would pick him and make a dragonrider. It wouldn't change the fact that he had no control over anything here, that at any minute one of the dragonets could come barreling down the sands with the intent to get rid of any candidate in its way. The brown that hatched from the Reef Triggerfish egg certainly seemed the type to do something like that and Kadayon took a careful step backwards. It was not for him – it had better not be for him – and he wanted to keep as much space as he could between himself and the brown. Kadayon didn't have much time to dwell on the angry brown, however. The blue from before was getting closer and closer, touching practically every boy in the group. For some reason, despite all the physical contact, he had yet to find the boy he was looking for. Perhaps he was looking in the wrong place. The candidate had heard tales of dragonets wandering around a group of one gender only to realize that Theirs was on the other side of the hatching sands. No doubt this blue would eventually get tired of poking and prodding. Then, once he found His, Kadayon could return his concentration to the other eggs. Of course the blue decided that just because he was hiding out near Winderick didn't mean he was going to get off without a poke. Kadayon tried to fold his arms over his chest and deter the little dragon but it did him no good. The blue purposefully poked him with his snout and then rolled onto his back, looking every bit like a silly canine. Kadayon huffed softly, unable to help a small grin at his antics before he took his eyes off the dragon and looked back at the brown. Or at least, he would have looked back at the brown if he hadn't heard a voice in his head that was definitely not his own. It's time to join Ninaeth's friends, Kadayonmine~ I think you'll like them! At first all the boy could do was stare wide-eyed at the blue. It wasn't possible. The heat of the Sands must have been making him hallucinate or something because he had definitely heard somebody talk to him. Kadayon turned to scowl at Winderick, thinking this was some kind of sick joke, but the other boy only looked, well... disappointed. Confused, the candidate turned to look for the blue, only to find the dragonet was trotting over towards the feeding tables. He paused, though, and looked over his shoulder straight at Kadayon. Mine come on! You are lagging behind! Why are you still standing over there? Ninaeth made a soft, encouraging sound before he went back to gazing longingly at the gathered greens. So close! And yet, so far. There was no getting around that. Kadayon swallowed the lump in his throat and staggered after the blue dragon, looking every bit as though he had just hatched out of the egg too. Ninaeth graciously allowed the boy to lean on him as they walked, keeping his pace steady despite his desire to get closer to the greens. He was distracted from his trek, however, by the arrival of yet another green, though this one was positively massive. The blue couldn't help but croon his approval, stretching his neck higher to get a better look at her. Mine look at her! She is so big! "Bigger doesn't mean better," Kadayon felt obligated to point out as he grabbed the nearest meat bucket. Oh I beg to differ. Just you wait and see.
Why Me Perhaps Ninaeth can teach Kadayon that you don’t have to put on a front in order to get to know a lady! They are both quite interesting in chasing tail, though they each have a very different approach. Kadayon values a pretty face above personality, and it just might be that Ninaeth may be able to clear that up for him a little. Ninaeth will enjoy Kadayon’s confidence, and could even learn from it. He gets flustered when he’s around a lady he likes-- a problem which Kadayon simply does not experience. Kadayon needs someone to reassure him, and provide the deep, meaningful relationship that his life is serious lacking. There is that issue with Kadayon and his feelings towards his mother. . . perhaps Ninaeth will be there to lend a hand when the boy can't figure out what to say? Only time can tell what will happen, but it's certainly something the two can look forward to together.
