■■ | Eskiva: Does she know nothing of water? It is dangerous, I can assure the lot of you! Though she is quite an... appealing thing, I do admit. Those limbs of her's seem to go on for miles...

■■ | Ialu: A lovely and awe-inspiring as all the legends say. This God is as kind as every story had told, yet with a childish innocence that some would surely not believe possible. He seems to be offering Poke'mon such as myself the chance of a lifetime...

■■ | Tulip: Such a jumpy one, she is! Nearly turned me in because I caused her by surprise. Much more feminine than the first, and within this body, those limbs of her's seem much less impressive. At least she became an ally once she understood my predicament, though...

Leith took a deep, steadying breath of the thick, stagnant air of his home - a small, hollowed out tree trunk that fit him as well as the small things that he found to be of importance, including a small bed made of mud and dry leaves and a stack of berries nearby. The berries, however, were on top of a small piece of cloth that the Mudkip carefully tied with his mouth, then tucked himself into, squirming and then thrashing a bit to get it onto his back. Once again, he took a deep, steadying breath... and walked slowly out of his home.

The pond was as it usually was: Thick with muddy water, full of his kin splashing around and having fun, not a single evolution to be seen, though there might have been one of them missing - one of the older ones.

No matter.

With a confident look about him, Leith slowly ascended the slope that led to what was almost a pedestal in the middle of the small muddy area, clearing his throat to gather attention. Though he was the only shiny of their species -at least in the area- he wasn't usually looked up to. The rare opportunity filled him with happiness. Of course... they didn't really seem happy; more like completely and totally unimpressed.

"My dear friends!" he started dramatically, casting his eyes over the whole of his people. They steadily started going back to their conversations. "I am here to inform you about my inevitable departure!"

"You mean he's finally leaving...?"

"You're actually leaving? Finally? For real this time, I assume?"

"Pfft, assume? Hope is more like it!"

The gossiping traveled immediately over the talkative group, jeering comments and other such things passed around. In a frenzy, Leith waved his arms a bit, trying to get the attention of the others fruitlessly, a pout on his young face. "N-no, that's not what I meant!! I'm going on an adventure, you see! I'm going to be an explorer, the best of them all, and I'm going to come back with treasure!!" He couldn't be more serious, or more frantic, but that didn't matter to the people he considered his friends. What he was greeted with, however, was laughter.

Slowly, he came to realize that they really didn't believe him. His tail twitched slightly, eyes falling to the ground beneath his feet as tears gathered in them. But no... no, he wouldn't let them win!! Biting back the tears, he turned on his tail, feet hitting the earth hard with each step as he stormed away from the ground, determined to find an adventure.

His... his head hurt.

A small cry broke past the Mudkip's mouth and he clutched his head gingerly. Within a moment, however, the pain broke and erupted like a geyser, clearing his mind and allowing his sore body to slowly relax. The chill was what registered first; a calm, revitalizing breeze flowing over his sweat-dampened body. Then came the sound of the wind, flowing through his mind and soothing his thoughts, carrying with it the songs that the birds sang, and as the wind died, the sun's rays could be felt caressing his long, long limbs. Long, long limbs...

...that wasn't right.

Wait! That wasn't right at all! Jerking upward, his beady black eyes opened, blinded temporarily by the sun. As though by instinct, his hand raised up to meet the sun's light, blocking it from his sensitive eyes. His... hand? The other arm rose, bringing with it an appendage that ended in a flat square with five long, skinny digits at the ends. Experimentally, he wiggled them, and they responded with an astonishing pin-pointedness. It was as though he had known the limbs since birth. Had he been... rebirthed...?

No, that was absurd. He had found... Jirachi? His mind sobered instantly at that thought, a thought which gripped his heart powerfully and made his sight glassy. He truly had seen the legendary spectre, an apparition that had appeared before his own eyes. Swallowing thickly, he tried to recall the events. They had spoken of many things, none of which he could recall, and there was a star. He had received a gift from the loving God, a gift that had taken his consciousness from him, dropping him into a darkness that felt as though it could be eternal.

Yet as he awoke, it was to a gift beyond any he could comprehend. Here he was, with a body that matched those of trainers, those of the captors. It meant... power. Power and success, opportunities that he had never known, and that none of his family would ever possess. A mad grin passed over his face, and goosebumps prickled his skin. Yes. Though the darkness had come with terror and pain that he had never known, this was truly a gift of the Gods.

Figuring out the mechanics of this new, oversized body was something that Leith was having quite a bit of trouble with. That is to say, he was extremely grateful for his new body, for his new abilities, and for strengths that he didn't know before that he had, but these gangly limbs were impossible to keep control of, and seemed to get tangled far too often, either between each other or on any protruding object on the ground.

The scratched-and-battered Mudkip struggled his way along the path, still dedicated to his trek up the mountainside, however fruitless the attempt had become. On the brighter side, he had found himself a cascading river, complete with plenty of waterfalls and chill ponds, the muddy banks of which gave the foreigner comfort in his new surroundings. Until the sun rose on that foggy spring morning, he had no reason to believe that the swamp would have any problem with his presence. Yet something about that morning, the haze and the unnatural warmth of the heated fog beneath a merciless sun, set Leith on edge in an instant.

Rightfully so.

The haze had every other creature in the same mood. With each turn that he made, there were more Poke'mon defending their territory, standing strong and furious, attacking relentlessly to his retreating back. He had no idea that Poke'mon could be so... so angry. His own pod had been cruel, sure, and taunting, but never so relentlessly mean.

It wasn't long before he found himself stuck behind a line of defence, frowning harshly as his eyes scanned the thick line of trees that stood between himself and the higher cliffs of the mountain. He took a deep breath, wrapping both hands around the strap of his rucksack, and pushed himself onward once again, a dedicated look in his tar-coloured eyes. Regardless of the fight that the creatures of this forest were going to put up, the fact remained that he had nowhere else to go but up. If they were in the way, he was going to have to man-up and face them head-on.

The first few were no real struggle. He managed to dominate the matches, bathe within that stretch of river to relieve his wounds, and move on to the next stretch of road. It grew more difficult as he arrived at a steep stretch alongside a waterfall, where the creatures grew thicker, his defences grew thinner, and he no longer had the cooling and comforting presence of water to sooth him, beyond the six little water bottles in his bag -- for emergencies only.

The last stretch was the hardest. No attacks he knew had any kind of range, leaving him pressed against a wall of rock that he was crawling awkwardly up, gritting his teeth and squeezing his eyes shut. Despite his obvious lack of defences, they continued to attack, and he tempered his mind against the pain, pushing himself to patiently force his way up the hill, where he could finally attack these honor-less Poke'mon. His long, limber arms trembled as he forced his way over the final cliff's edge, and he lashed out at those who had been harassing him, taking them down in the single attack alone.

Briefly, he gazed at the unconscious bugs, tipping his head to the side at how strangely easy that had been, and how something within him felt a bit different. He stretched his webbed fingers, eyeballing the orange mesh between them and the victims before him, then rolled his shoulders. Whatever had changed, certainly it was a good thing? After all, a bad thing would never be so cruel as to leave him feeling so nice!

Some Pokemon were afraid of thunderstorms, but Eli thought that they were exhilirating. Of course, it wasn't as if the Electric-type had much to worry about, but not even the thunder could drive him away. So when this storm rolled in, the Luxray ensured that he was deep within the forest, adventuring and training with all his heart. He walked for miles without crossing another, but he enjoyed it that way.

Unfortunately that alone time was short-lived, because when Eli finally reached his destination, a purple disturbance interrupted his planned regimen. Curled up in the mud, the Pokemon (a Mudkip, maybe?) was smack dab in the middle of where he planned to be. Not to be deterred, Eli strode up and prodded the boy none too gently with his paw. "Hey. Hey. Hey get up. What are you doing?"

The creature writhed in his unconscious daze, having been lost within the forest for a number of days, and having consumed a number of things that weren't likely fit for human -was he human?- consumption. The mud was the everlasting comfort that he could find in the strange world around him, and the storm only increased the homely atmosphere. With spring at its best, he found an unsheltered area and tucked himself into the muddy ground, where he was promptly disturbed.

Finally, those void-like black eyes slowly opened against the rain, peering up at the four-legged beast who stood beside him. He uncurled his long body and stretched his limbs, peering at the newcomer. "I was sleeping, if you were truly unable to tell that," he sniped rather bitterly running a webbed hand through mud-stained pink hair, which lay slicked against his face. "Is there a particular reason that it was necessary for you to interrupt my sleep?"

Eli wasn't pleased by the snide remarks made by this purple disturbance, but neither was he fazed. The hackles of his damp fur began to rise, and crackles of electricity could be seen glittering among the blue-black pelt, occasionally leaping towards the ground. Rather dangerous, and the Luxray knew it; in fact, he prided himself on his elemental powers.

"Yeah, because you're in my way," he replied with a tone just as sharp, if not sharper. His tail flipped agressively back and forth as he paced, eying the stupid-looking mudfish. "Why don't you get yourself under a tree and sleep there? I just need to use this space."

It took a bit for Leith to blink sleep out of his eyes, and took that same amount of time to realize that those sparks weren't just spots on his tired vision. His breath caught in surprise and he awkwardly half-scooted backward on the muddy ground. His rubbery skin didn't do well in situations where electricity threatened, and the wet weather only added more risk to the entire situation.

"I-in your way? Well, Sir, it is my firm opinion that this clearing is more than large enough for the both of us to have our own space without anyone getting in each other's way!" he replied, gazing warily at the crackling fur of the Luxray. "I have as much reason to sleep under a tree as you do to find another clearing, I'll have you know...!"
