Cheryth Cheryth is the sort of individual you could set your clock by, or in the case of Pern, your candle. She’s passionate and willful, like many of her brethren, but she’s also very devoted to managing her time. It doesn’t stem from selfishness but rather a knowledge that she can’t (and shouldn’t) be doing everything all the time. She has a set schedule and while the schedule might fluctuate a little bit, her own timer always, and I do mean always makes time for some relaxation. It wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to say she lives by the motto of ‘work hard, play hard’.
Ca’mil has the devotion, drive, and energy to keep up with her and that is why this Crimson picked Hers. Even her rider’s self-depreciating outlook on life was appealing for it gave the woman an even greater drive to succeed. However, Cheryth also recognizes this as a massive flaw in Hers as well and her own easy going, optimistic and forgiving attitude is like a balm to the internal cracks of Ca’mil. It’s alright, they might not have succeed this time but there will always be a next time.
Because of this, Cheryth might not come across as the most capable crimson around but she does apply herself, both to honour Hers and to honour her Weyr, and the results aren’t half bad. In fact, she’s always fairly capable as a fighter, working hard to prove her ability to be a productive member of the Wing. It was an easy choice for her, really, to fight – the failures of Flights would have weighed heavily on Hers while fighting produced tangible results.
Cheryth is also meticulous – when she’s working that is. If she’s on a ‘break’ as she calls them, don’t expect anything miraculous from her. Everyone needs rest, and that includes Hers and she’s quite vocal about ensuring Hers has the opportunity to rest… since Ca’mil can, and probably has, pushed herself too far. When she’s working, Cheryth has an eye for detail and hands-on approach to learning. In fact theory tends to be lost on her – she’d rather get up and go then sit and listen to words. As far as she’s concerned, doing means to you learn and remember far better, even though her memory’s as bad as the other dragons. Hers remembers and therefore she remembers.

Character Name: Ca'mil Pre Impression: Camille Age: 27 Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual Former Craft/Rank: None Rank: Wingrider History: Camille was born in a fairly small hold which in the long run only exasperated her plight to be seen as a sucsess rather then be overshadowed by her siblings or seen in the same light as her father who was thought to be a bit eccentric by the locals. It was undoubtably from her father that Camille inherited her fierce curiosity and penchant for solving problems and even as a young child Camille became intrested in the puzzles her father poured over. Thankfully her family was spared complete ostrasization because her mother was a well respected birthing women. The locals were willing to put up with her fathers oddities in deference to her services - even if they did make jokes now and again about her 'crazy' father.
As the youngest of four sisters Camille often found herself trying to live up to her siblings sucsesses, of her older siblings one had decided to become a more formalized healer after helping her mother a time or two, another prefered animals over people and so was apprenticed to become a vet and the third desired to travel the world as a trader - maybe not the mot renowned of professions but at least she got to see more of the world then Camille was likely to see.
It didn't take long for Camille to take note of what the locals thought about her father and thought she desprately dreamed of becoming a Searcher - and traveling the world in serch of those oh so intresting artifacts left behind, or discovering hidden truths in half forgotten ballads she wasn't sure if she was willing to put up with the social stigma of pursuing that career. Camille studied and dreamed in secret, pursuing other intrested her mother pushed her towards with half-hearted passion - she wanted to suceed..but all to often found herself failing to prosper when her secret pursuits drained more of her time then her work did. This made Camille feel even worse about herself and was probably the start of her self critical nature. She promised herself she would buckle down and choose a craft to pursue properly - but nothing truly caught her intrest and though she tried...really tried all to often she'd loose steam and drop off not long afterwards.
It was becoming fairly apparant that Camille would never really live up to her sisters, despite all her attempts to do so and she expected it wouldn't be long before her mother ran out of encourageing words and wrote her off as the second family eccentric. not that her mother had ever called her father that - they had been friends and in love long before he had choosen his unique field of study and she hadn't left him because of it - something Camille respected of her mother, and soething that made her feel even worse about her quickly deveoping pattern of quitting.
Camille got one last an unexpected chance to make something of herself when the Dragonriders rode in search and she was singled out - something that surprised allot of people - seeing a chance to finally single herself out as something more then a second black sheep Camille went to the weyr where she became determined to see this chance through. Failing to impress the first time despite what she considered putting her best foot foreward and unable to accept failure after trying so hard she blamed her positioning in the crowd. When she impressed Cheryth on her second standing Camille felt as though she'd found her true calling and after spending so much time serching for this path she wasn't about to let it go to waste. Camille became determined to be the best dragonrider in weyr, she would do her chores the best, take care of her dragon the best and do so well that surely her family and anyone else who might know about her past would forget her early failures.
That didn't mean she completly gave up on her previous intrests however, and she still has a penchant for problems and ancient artifacts - she just plays it off as curiosity whenever anyone notices, an eccentric hobbie..but one she hopes is overshadowed by her work with Cheryth. Description: Camille is not a large person being just on the short side of average. She's athletically built and well toned due to hours spent working in the weyr. Her features are a bit sharp lacking the female softness seen in more feminine women a feature whichmakes her look striking more then beautiful and which she see's as plain or even homely. Her hair is black and straight, her skin well tanned and her eyes blue.
Since she dosen't think of herself as particularly pretty Camille has never really seen the need to adjorn herself in fancy clothes so she owns one or two formal type outfits for important affairs but is mostly seen in good sensible working outfits, her hair typically pulled out of her face in a ponytail or braid. Personality: Camille is a very driven individual, whatever her current goal tends to be at the moment one can rest assured that Camille will see it through. It is not enough however for Camille to merely get the job done, she must be the best, her drive being the result of a very high competitive instinct. She abhors looseing and is prone to making excuses for the loss when they do occur rather then taking the blame for it herself. It couldn't possibly be her fault - but must have resulted from things out of her control! When she is not occupied in a search to be the best she can often be found attempting to sate her curiosity, reading old scrolls or trying to pick the truth from the legends contained in teaching ballads and old stories.
In work Camille is meticulus over details but often places impractical demands on herself in her rush to be the best and is often dissapointed in the results of her work even if others find them more then satisfactory. She never seems to be pleased with the things she does and always believes she could have done better. There have been more then on occasion where Camille has proven to be a rash individual, espechially at times when speed might be more important then precision or when her curiosity uncovers something that she thinks simply must be tested. Camille would do better to sit down and reconsider some of these incidents and would probably be happier with the results if she did but that dosen't seem to enter her mind until afterwards when she is plagued with Should have's, could have's and would have's.
That being said - no one can Camille is not a brave soul, some might even say reckless. While she might inwardly be frightened of something she can't let it show and overcompensates by being the first to volunteer for tha which might be dangerous. she just has to prove that she is unafraid and the bravest,fastest..best, though weather she does this to prove this to other's or herself is unclear since she's typically dissapointed in herself and so rather humble when confronted by others over her achievements, affecting a dry sort of humor that is often at her own expense.
Camille is open-minded, in the sense that she's willing to listen to other peoples ideas and flexible in changeing her plans if the other person's plan seems to be the better choice. certainly she's not caught up in old traditions and dosen't mind being treated like just another guy in Trine when it comes to the workload, if anything she seems determinded to prove that women riders are in fact just the same as men.
When she is wrapped up in a project she dislikes any sort of inturruption and can come off as gruff or self absorbed, dealing with the inturruptor in a brisk courteous manner that gives a clear indication she just wants them to leave so she can get on with her work and be left alone, When a project or idea stumps her she can often befound mubling and pacing as she tries to work the problem out. When not so enshrined in something however she's typically civil enough to those around her but somewhat aloof, making friends but keeping them at arm's length due to an internal feeling of inadequcy in herself.
