Lilias hauled some feed over to the feeding paddock stocked with wherries after this she would have to help feed some of the herdbeasts as well. She didn't mind as she had volunteered her services when one of the herder boys broke an ankle. She paused as two or three dragons flew overhead, they were so graceful and majestic she was lucky to be able to work so close to them. A blue landed to drop off his rider and a brown seemed to just be surveying what animal he would eventually choose for lunch but didn't seem ready to set down yet. Lilias trundled over to the herdbeast food bags and dragged two sacs over to yet another paddock. A shadow again blocked out the light, more dragons she supposed. Not bothering to look up until she was done.

Scarath had suggested to his rider that perhaps today would be a good day for visiting the feeding pens. It had come close to a week since his last meal. Without much to do, the bronze didn't use up much energy. The lesser colors like greens and blues had to eat every few days.
When S'kor had immediately agreed, the massive dragon turned and headed that way. He overflew the area. Casting as large a shadow as possible and sending the beasts into a panic. Scarath quickly made a choice of the retreating animals and swooped in for a kill. The wherry had no chance as the landing bronze broke its back.
S'kor strolled over to the feeding pens just in time to watch his dragon make a kill. Absentmindedly he noticed someone there doing the chore he wasn't use to seeing. He wondered what happened to the normal boy, and if she was being punished for something.
Aren't you suppose to start with the heavier stuff? He meant the herdbeasts that rolled their eyes showing the whites and called to each other.

Ca'mil and Cheryth had been somewhat loathe to leave their weyr since returning from the fateful trip back in time - it wasn't so much Cheryth whose lovely hide now sported the numerous and newly healing scars of their encounter with thread..but Ca'mil whom had kept them sheltered away.
She ad never thought of herself as a vain person, typically she didn't even care what she looked like but there was a bit of a difference between a messy ponytail and ugly livid scars criss crossing your body. She hid most of them with layers of clothing whenever possible despite Cheryth's counsel to do otherwise.
Maybe someday she could see them as a badge of honor...as she told herself back in that jungle - but those words had been spoken merely to keep hopes up and not really felt and now that she was home again - something she was certainly grateful for - it was none the less apparent that they had been empty words in the grand scheme of things, since she was now a strange mixture of depressed and embarrassed.
None the less Cheryth had at long last convinced her lifemate to come out and about for a little while and accompany her to the feeding pens. Of course they would wind up here when others were around Ca'mil thought to herself with a sigh as her scarred but still beautiful crimson landed to drop her off before going in search of a meal. 'No one will think less of you mine...you should no be ashamed of our scars' Cheryth once more insisted giving her rider a loving nudge towards the others before. Ca'mil didn't know either of them..one looked like a candidate and the other she assumed to be the rider of the large bronze feasting in the field. With another heavy sigh she ambled over towards them.

Apparently it was universal Weyr feeding time, judging from the amount of dragons landing and hunting. As she looked up a huge bronze descended on one of the wherries in the other pen. He broke its back, and she glanced around for the rider, She new who Plexith was, but this was a different bronze and she didn't know the rider. As she looked over, a crimson with thread scoring flew in, evidently one of the returned mystweed group. Lilias felt that the scars were a painful badge of honor, these were the only modern dragonriders and dragons to experience thread. She hiked over to the bronze rider, while she glanced back at his dragon. The gore didn't bother her at least.

Scarath took his kill out of the way but still within sight of the humans before answering His' unspoken question. There is nothing wrong starting light. I wanted this wherry. He sounded determine as he tore into the hot flesh.
Looking up, Scarath noticed the scarred crimson dropping her rider off. Welcome back Cheryth, he said politely.
S'kor grinned that the dragon's response. Thankfully the bronze had not asked him to season the meat. That would have been hard to explain to those standing around.
He saw one of the woman, the one tending the animals, meander over. S'kor proffered her a polite nod. His grey eyes watch the crimson rider also, to see if she would join them.
"Good'ay," he started generously when both were within speaking distance.

'Scarath' Cheryth greeted the other dragon when he spoke to her. 'It is good to be home, I don't think I desire to leave again for some time' She confessed to the bronze before searching the beasts for a suitable meal.
Ca'mil turned to watch Cheryth hover over the pens in order to select the creature who would become lunch before continuing on towards the others and giving them a slightly guarded smile as she got closer. "Hello" She greeted them "Looks like all the dragons had the same idea at the same time" She quipped.

"Hi," Lilias added her greeting. " Ya it seems that way doesn't it, how often do they eat," she asked, staring at the carnage currently ocuring on the field. She cocked her head to the side, fascinated by the view. "By the way my name is Lilias, I'm filling in for the normal lad, as he twisted his ankle pretty bad." She nodded at the both the riders respectfully, she hadn't met either of them yet and was looking forward to possible new friends or at least new acquaintances.
She gazed out at their beautiful dragons, not seeming able to keep her eyes of them for long.

It was brave to go into the unknown. Even though injured and facing danger you stayed to do the job assigned you, then returned successfully. That is honorable. You deserve the rest. He set to devouring his kill.
S'kor nodded to the crimson's rider. "Indeed they do. There is plenty to go around for them." He turned his attention on the candidate. "Scarath..." he nodded toward the bronze, "feeds one a sevenday, maybe twice if he's been doing a lot of work."
Ah, she wasn't in trouble then. Shame on him for jumping to that conclusion; he heard Scarath's snort of agreement at the though and smiled. "S'kor, rider of Bronze Scarath."
"Kind of you to take over someone else's duties when they were injured."

Cheryth wasn't sure just how much of that praise they all truly deserved..sure they had volunteered to go..but once there in all truthfulness they had probably only stayed because the wounds they had received wouldn't allow them to leave quickly. Stumbling across the plant in their hideout had been well luck really. "We couldn't return straight away..and once the plant was found well it seemed foolish to leave again without it" She confessed to the bronze before picking out a herdbeast and folding her wigs for a dive at the creature.
"Cheryth is about the same, maybe every five or six days" She answered while glancing at the large red "I'm Ca'mil, rider of crimson Cheryth" she introduced herself to the both of them after a few moments pause.

"Thats interesting, I guess everybody's feeding times matched up today." Lilias grinned, this was much more exciting than feeding herdbeasts. "Really, I try to help were I can, a good way to keep out of the Candidate Masters hair you know. It's also a great place to watch dragons." She bent to clear the path of some debris, a small stick that some one could trip on, now how had that got there? She secretly suspected mischievous firelizards.

Finishing the last of the wherry in a gulp, the bronze took off to select out a herdbeast. It was a quick selection as Scarath singled out one of the fattest bucks. Soon his muzzle was buried in the hot entrails. You remained to finish the job, even when you could return, he pointed out with patient logic.
S'kor nodded on hearing how much the crimson ate. He admired the size of her. "She's well grown. Is she going to breed?" He wondered just how many of the crimsons were actually fertile. From what he understood, they decided much later in life.
"Sometimes it just happens that way. I think they like to gossip too." He smiled, "we chat around the table, so why shouldn't they? It's no fun eating alone." He thought Lilias had a good reason. If she wasn't around she couldn't be put to lesser or undesirable tasks. Not that he could blame her, S'kor loved watching his bronze.

"Staying out of the candidate master's hair is certainly a good reason" Ca'mil added with a slight laugh, warming up to the others as she realized they weren't going to gawk or remark on the thread scars she shared with Cheryth. "I recall getting on his bad side a time or two and it was never fun"
'you see you've spent all this time worrying about nothing, no one cares about a few scars' Cheryth told her rider. ' well at least these two don't seem to thankfully' Ca'mil admitted before realizing that S'kor had asked her a question "Oh no...she's a fighter, she decided that pretty quickly"
'True' Cheryth admitted to the bronze 'My rider is hopeful that the trip and its information will turn things around. She says it will help the golds clutch many eggs again' Although Cheryth wasn't sure exactly how it would do so, nor could she precisely recall if the last clutch had been small or not - though hers said that others had been. She decided that such things were beyond dragon understanding and merely took her riders word on it.

" I forgot to do the dishes in my kitchen duty and the candidate master found out, I almost got my hide peeled off and I was a fishercraft apprentice I know about yelling." she shuddered then laughed. " So now I go out of my way to stay away from anything candidate master related." she grinned as she stole glances at the pretty dragons.

That will be good. The golds should clutch many eggs. As a bronze he had a personal interest in golds rising. With many eggs there would also be many chances for the young boys and girls on the sands. Scarath lifted his head and watched the candidate His was speaking to with whirling green eyes.
"Did she?" He responded to Ca'mil, "that is good." S'kor wondered about the choice. Were all so quick to decide?
"I wouldn't avoid him like the plague Lilias. Surely he has much information to pass on to those willing to learn." Sadly he has no experience with the candidate master himself. "Someday if you're looking for something to do, then find me in the dinning hall. I'll have you go over my riding harness with me."

Ca'mil smiled briefly at S'kor's remark, she had a feeling that Cheryth's choice had been heavily influenced by her own faults...and maybe it was a bit selfish but Ca'mil couldn't really bring herself to be sorry for it. They were good fighters...odds were against them being anything beyond poor as breeders, such were the lives of a Crimson and her rider. 'You fret about things that are done and forgotten' Cheryth piped up 'The choice was made for the better of us both and I have no regrets.'
Cheryth was right of course Ca'mil knew - she generally was. "She knew I wouldn't be able to handled the failed clutching attempts well" Ca'mil admitted to the bronze rider with a slight shrug. "I think it made her decision easier then most" Of course if they hadn't decided to fight then they might not have gone back in time and gotten all scarred up either.
There was no point in crying about it now however and she turned her thoughts elsewhere before Cheryth popped in with another encouraging remark. "But S'kor is right - the candidate master can be a pain at time but he knows his stuff"
As her rider turned her attention to other things so too did Cheryth 'And rise many times too hmm' She teased the large bronze, her eyes whirling in good nature.
