Festivals were, by no means, rare to come by on Remarque. In fact, today would have been like two weeks ago, or three weeks from today—had they not had a special guest this time. Accustomed to a celebratory display of fabulous new fashions, costumes, compositions and food on a more than monthly schedule, the senshi had been somewhat desensitized to it all.

But. The idea of a circus—and a foreign one, at that!—was too much for him. He wouldn't have missed it, even if he had business to tend to.

And, perhaps he'd enjoyed it a little too much. When the show had ended, he didn't excuse himself with the rest of the crowd—but why should he? Being the senshi around these parts had their perks, and as long as he was powered up, he figured he might as well make the best of them.

With such logic, it was totally appropriate to weave his way through the backstage area set up for the performers. He didn't have any set target in mind; it was just sort of fascinating to watch these people do their own thing. Their show had left him inspired—something debatably difficult to do—and even though he was somewhat out of place in his senshi ensemble, no one had made any effort to shoo him away.

Which meant, he was going to enjoy every last, sneaky moment he got back here. And maybe stick his nose in a few places it didn't belong.

What was with all the boys slipping backstage and thinking that they'd go unnoticed? ********* was off tending to various things a ringleader needed to, and several of her fellow performers were preparing to slip into something a bit more casual than the stage clothing they wore. Iris was in no rush to get out of her stage costume. It might have been revealing, but she enjoyed the jingle of the coins adorning her outfit.

She had easily spied a male figure in a senshi fuku slip in and attempt to make his way around. Even though her previous experience with Crims should have been proof that not all men were perverts, her mind still defaulted to the accusation that this guy was here to peep on her fellow performers.

Rather directly, the blonde marched up to the foreign senshi and firmly grabbed for his shoulder. "Since I doubt you're lost... tell me why you are even back here?" There was no beating around the bush with this one.

Immediately the senshi froze, though when he saw who was behind him, relaxed. Instead of wearing a dear-in-headlights expression, he smiled. "You," he exclaimed, hastily moving to brush the loose hair out of his face. He was between styles these days, though his hair was tied up in a rather sizeable ponytail. What strays he had were braided and laced with beads, dangling on either side of his face.

"I couldn't have run into anyone more interesting. No offense meant to the rest of you," he insisted. "I saw your show. It was amazing, really. We don't have shows like that often here, and I think yours was—it had to be one of the best. So much movement, passion—I just wanted to meet you. I mean, I was going to try and wait, but," he made some hasty gestures with his hand, as if that were explanation for his intrusion. "Well, I couldn't," the blonde finally concluded. "I just couldn't leave without telling you how amazing that was, really. Can they all do that, back where you're from?"

Where as the girl had been performing for a while and admired by many, it was never an easy thing to have a fan start gushing about how much they adored her act. A faint blush did color her cheeks, but she was able to keep her composure as she dealt with the situation.

"Well... just because you are a fan doesn't mean you should sneak around back here... I mean... not everyone back here is ready to deal with having people sneaking around back here." She was pretty sure that Irene and Parthenope were getting changed into street clothes, and perhaps even a few of the others were as well.

In an effort to get him away from the other girls, the blonde began to move towards the performance area, gesturing for the senshi to follow her. His question about her dancing abilities was an interesting one, she had to give him that.

"No, not everyone dances where I am from. Mostly traders and merchants... only a specialized few actually learn to dance..." She had learned that on some worlds, dancing was recreational, where as back at home, dancing had more of a spiritual significance.

As the duo of strangers made it to the performance area, the performer easily hopped up onto the rope net underneath one of the aerial performance areas. "...so... is that all you wanted to do? Or were you hoping to talk to all of the girls?"

It was easy to convince the male to step away from the back areas; he was easily engrossed in conversation. Mixed with the girl's acrobatics, it was obvious that he wasn't regretting his decision to follow her. Even with her just hopping up onto the rope, he'd smiled. "I suppose you're right," he admitted of sneaking around; it was just something he was used to. Really, he didn't see the harm, though he wasn't even remotely considering the idea of anyone being indecent.

"—But, I'd talk to anyone with a minute to spare, so you, them—though, and you must excuse me for being biased, I'm glad it was you I ran into. You were the prettiest. And I like your hair." He touched his own instinctively, shamelessly admiring hers.

"I came in a bit late for your show though—you know. Work." It wasn't spoken so much with disdain as it was exasperation. "So I missed the introduction." If even there was such a thing; he assumed much, frequently. "Where are you all from?"

Her head tilted slightly, causing one of her large earrings to dangle down a bit. "...Pretty, you say?" She shrugged before jumping up in the air, splitting her legs, one forward, one back, before quickly snapping her legs back shut and landing. "...you have weird tastes I guess..." The blonde had never particularly considered herself to be pretty. Those compliments were usually used upon her fellow performers. Once more, she jumped up, doing another split before landing again.

"...So you missed the ringleader greeting folks... and maybe the cloud swing act?" The acts were rotated with each performance, so that each girl got a spotlight as the first performance. It could be nerve-wracking, but it was always an honor to start.

Yet another jump up, and this time instead of doing a set of splits, she spun herself about quickly, as if trying to make a full circle before landing. "...well... all of the performers are Senshi of various asteroids... all from different worlds.... I mean, I could list them... but that would probably be boring..."

One more jump, she span around again, and the end result was her facing the senshi admirer. "...so... question time for me. What are your duties to this world?" The uniform made it evident that this young man was the world's senshi.

As was the norm for anyone on Remarque, so too could it be said that the senshi had weird tastes. At her words, however, he merely wrinkled his nose. "Well, first of all, I don't think that would be boring at all," he replied, "I like hearing about other words. I want to visit all of them. But, I don't get off of here much because of my duties, so," he shrugged, wishing he had something impressive to flaunt while talking, though even if he had some supreme skill, he had little faith that it would top the girl's acrobatics.

"I'm Remarque—oh, and forgive me, what was your name?—and," he placed a hand on his chest rather proudly, "I'm the senshi of this planet. Which means I get to run around and play hero all day. You know, fight monsters, chase down criminals. Pull kittens out of trees and chase rats out of the basement. Show up at fancy events and give speeches. Well, sometimes," he clarified. "…Actually, I haven't been invited to do a speech in a long time. I butchered the last one and I don't think anyone's forgiven me. So—yeah, mostly that. Oh," his tone soured, if only just slightly, "And paperwork. Sometimes I have to do paperwork. Which is okay and all. I mean," he toed at the ground a bit, pursed his lips, and then shrugged again. "I like it. Probably isn't as fun as being in a travelling circus, though, that's for sure."

After all the bouncing upon the net, the girl decided to pause from such if only to catch her breath. So she soon enough resorted to crawling up one of the taller sides of the net, tangling her feet in the rope before flopping back so she was hanging upside-down for a bit. The blonde pursed her lips thoughtfully as he explained his duties to her.

By the time she responded, her cheeks were quite red due to all the blood rushing to her face.

"...So it sounds like you are a political influence then... so to speak?" His duties were so different from hers. Certainly she had a responsibility to protecting her homeworld, but during this era of peace, there wasn't much she needed to do to protect the asteroid. Paperwork and speeches were not things she tended to. Her parents and the Clan Leaders were more prone to such things.

Seeming satisfied with his explanation, she lifted herself upright again, snaking her hands amongst the ropes for leverage. Easily she freed her feet and once more she was facing the right direction. Holding onto the rope with one hand, she flung her arm to the side in a theatrical manner.

"I am Iris, the Dancer of Colors!"

Remarque's expression of interest never really changed as he watched her move; her acrobatics were far beyond anything he was physically capable of; there were times when just climbing stairs was a bit too much for him. "How fabulous! It is delightful to meet you, Iris! —But, yes, I suppose you could say political influence. Something like that," he said, and for all the time he invested into being a senshi, he wasn't really even sure how to classify it.

He did what he was told to do by people far smarter than he could ever aspire to be, and he was complacent and settled enough in the lifestyle not to mind. "So, how are you liking it here? —Do you do anything else other than perform, when you're visiting other places? Get out on the town, go to dinner, things like that? Or is it, you know, all work?"

Having given her introduction, she let go of the ropes and hopped back into the bed of the net, rolling into a small somersault. She couldn't afford to roll too far, for there was a chance she could roll off the net and just land on her head like an idiot.

Getting injured for such a stupid reason was always costly to a performing troupe. Soon enough she made her way back to the edge of the net and hopped off, landing with a small thump on the ground. "Well, I have been enjoying myself. This world seems pretty well built up, so it isn't like I have time to get bored during our stay."

She couldn't help but chuckle at one notion he seemed to imply. "Of course I do things other than perform! A girl has to eat and go out and have fun, right?" With a large grin, she added "It's a bit of a guilty pleasure of mine, but I enjoy wandering about the different worlds, experiencing what I can. I love learning about each world we visit!" In a sense, it almost felt like an extension of what she had to do as a new senshi, visiting the other asteroids and living there for a period of time.

The senshi placed a hand on his chest and breathed a sigh of relief, as if this had been something he were really worried about. "Well, then! That sounds like the perfect life! You must promise me, if ever I learn some fabulous talent, you must let me join you!" His enthusiasm implied it was something he would have very much enjoyed, however his overall demeanor left it very obvious that he didn't actually expect such from her. Especially given that he lacked any skill even remotely comparable to that of the performers.

He changed the topic rather quickly, either intentionally or because he had a difficult time focusing on just one thing at a time. "Do you have anywhere you could recommend? Favorite worlds you've been to? Places worth reading up about? Because, I admit, I get a lot more reading done than I do actual exploring. I'm not really supposed to go too far. Never know when trouble's going to break out and I have to chase something back into the dark side," he sighed, rolling his eyes a bit dramatically. "And of course, they always come out on my days off. So typical. So, I typically have to bother the foreigners that come to visit. Try to bribe them for stories and the like."

It wasn't the first time she had dealt with someone romanced by the idea of running away to the circus. It was a very romantic seeming lifestyle, even though it was a lot more work than folks could really imagine. However, Iris did know of how to deal with such.

"...I don't make any promises until after people have the skills. Plus, it isn't even my place to make the decision. That is up to the ringleader."

And the ringleader was a cat, but she didn't need to mention that part.

Remarque proceeded to explain further about his lack of experience outside of his own world, telling of how books were essentially his escape. Yet, one stray comment seemed to catch her attention.

"....dark side? What is the 'dark side' that you speak of?"

In the process of making a minor note to seek out the ringmaster, Remarque completely abandoned all attempts the moment Iris brought up the Dark Side.

"Of the asteroid," he explained, as though this were common knowledge that everyone ought to know. "Only half of Remarque ever gets sun, so the other half is totally dark. I mean, I think. It's not like anyone that's ever gone out there to explore has gotten too far in before they had to turn around. And those are the lucky ones. Most of the really adventurous ones? They don't even come back. So either the monsters got them, they walked off a cliff, of there's some secret utopia they fell all fell in love with, hidden out there in all the shadows. I've only been a little into the Dark Side, myself, but," he shrugged. "It's not really the safest place to go by yourself, and people aren't exactly lining up to go investigate."

Iris blinked a couple times before grinning quite wide at the young man's initial description. "Oh, that sounds like my home... well... except ours darkness is only seasonal." She momentarily thought of home and how intriguing it was to wander over The Edge during the winter months. "For the summer months, that same span of land has constant sunlight, during day and night."

Despite the fact that Remarque had just finished explaining how dangerous the Dark Side was, the blonde girl couldn't help but feel curious about it. She wanted to investigate it at some point. "I never knew there were monsters on this asteroid... I mean... I know there are different animals... but monsters? That is pretty interesting!" She chuckled as she started to walk away, placing both hands in front of her to stretch.

"...I'd be interested in seeing some at some point!"

Remarque seemed confused, unsure whether or not he should just try to sneak out now or follow her; he wasn't very good at reading people, so either she was tired of playing around here or wanted the conversation to end. He trotted after her a bit, figuring he could at least use the excuse that he needed to be pointed in the right direction to exit, rambling, "Monsters aren't exactly a good tourist attraction. I mean, I guess a scientist might call them animals? But they're only trouble for me, and they don't do anything good for anyone. They're not cute, so no pets, they're not docile, so no exporting—you couldn't even use them for farming if you wanted. They'd eat you, tear down your house, and mess up all your crops just to spite you. So I mean, it's unfair to lop them into 'animals' since I like animals. They're just trouble. But—I mean, if you ever want to see some, I mean—it's not safe but I could show you to a place where they're pretty common. It's a bit away, and you'd have to let me come with you, though. I mean, I couldn't in good conscience know you were heading out into danger without anyone to keep you safe."

Plus, he couldn't miss the opportunity to go and explore a bit; it's not like he'd ever work himself up to going by himself and no one else on this asteroid seemed to have the same fascination as he did.
