I only know 4 piccolo players, but all four of them are hot.
But most piccs can't play at all, which makes me ask the question.
Are piccolo players just there to be really hot?

I play piccolo and I am not hot. I can also play darn good. Okay? There is the answer to your question.
Also! My old section leader was a darn good flute and piccolo player. She was hot though too.

I think you are right. All the guys think the piccs are hot. I guaruntee that those intruments didnt get played all year. They're admidantly in band so they can be majorettes. Haha, so to answer your question, yes.

Gwen Stefani went to my high school (Loara) and she 'played' flute, and was later told to play piccolo. According to my band director, she didn't really play, but was more there because her boyfriend played drums and they would make out in the drum room and go to band camp together (we actually go to the mountains for a week).

both of the piccolos at my high school suck and are not hot.... but most of the flute section is stupid so maybe its just that section at my school no offence to anyone here though

umm. wow. What a sexist question! Everyone here is considering piccolo and flute players to be empty headed flower pots who are only there to play or look good. I, personally, find this really offensive! I'm a flute player and I'm average on both ends of the scale. But that doesn't mean that I don't have a life beyond the band room! Flute players have friends and family, hopes and dreams, and we're most definitely going somewhere in life! Are you?
So don't go around pretending like flutes don't really count as people. We're not just eye candy even if we do tend to be good looking.

b***h. Piccolo players that I know: Jaz- is in nursing school. Rachel- is in nursing school. (also a lesbian, but that's neither here nor there.) Becca- is very popular, but is a freshman, but has so many friends, it's impossible for her not to have a life. She is a close friend to me. Sarriah- Is a junior. Our families are close. I can't possibly think these four piccolo players can't count as people. Nor can I possibly think they don't have friends or family, hopes and dreams, or are going nowhere in life. As for the question "Are you?" Yes, I am. I may be a freshman in high school, but I aspire to be a marine biologist and professional musician. I get in the high 90's in just about every class I take. And, last of all, (and I'm not saying she's hot.) my mom was a piccolo player. So, basically, no. I am not saying that piccs can't succeed in life. In the original topic, I stated that piccolo players are hot, but cannot play piccolo very well. Good argument, but not enough.

Ha ha, hot?! I never heard that before. We had three girls who could play picc last year: One was the band nominee for Homecoming Queen, one is a model for Toni and Guy, and the other one... is kind of meh. It's not that she isn't pretty, she is vertically challenged a bit but she definitely isn't ugly. Actually, she's our section leader this year and definitely played picc the best out of the three.

We're not just eye candy even if we do tend to be good looking. i believe the question was "are piccolo players just there to be really hot?" and i fail to see anything remotely sexist about it. i think it's sexist that you automatically think he means girls. maybe you should think about what you're saying before you try to make judgements about people based on what you say is prejudism. that would, in fact, be prejudism on your part, not his.

Every year, the flute/picc section in my high school band was one of the top sections (along with mellophones). All three of us made the county honor band 2 years in a row. All of us were AP students. And I got my 2-year college degree a month before I got my high school diploma even with going to high school full-time and participating in the music program. So you know what, Mr. OP, piccolo players are NOT just there to be hot. Maybe your school just has a crappy music program. Or maybe you're just seeing what you want to see. Or maybe you even know you're wrong but want to be a p***k anyways. I don't really care why you posted the question. I don't even really care if you think that way. I do think it was really rude to make a thread about it. You have to realize that it reflects very poorly on you. It makes you look immature, unmannered, and not terribly bright. Maybe a better thread would have been to ask everyone which section in their band is the screw-up section - who can't play, who doesn't want to be there, who breaks the rules most, etc. You could even have described all of this under your response. Then you could have gotten a better sampling than your 4 person experience without looking like an a**.

The Low brass in my high school band were honor roll, help clean up after practice, volunteer to drive the newbies home type people. And I know males think about sex a lot more than the average woman. That's not the problem I have with this thread. The difference between men and you is maturity. Men know that this sort of talk is to be reserved for male-only spaces becuase women find it incredibly off-putting... but if you want to put women off, well I guess that's your business.
