___Welcome one and all to Vale of Earth. This humble shop was started in 2005, close to the New Year, with several hopes and ambitions. It has undergone many changes, from threads, to graphics, to owners and staff. After so many ups and downs it came into perspective. From that point on, Vale of Earth has been strictly non-profit, using whatever influence it may have to raise Awareness for things in the Real World that truly need attention. The internet is an almost virtually untapped resource, and if we don't use every aspect to spread knowledge and faith in the human spirit, then we as the self-proclaimed humanitarians are nothing more than jokes. Whatever donations that are made to the shop go directly back into it and to fellow B/C questers to help attain their Gaian dreams. At the Vale of Earth we are not about gold, popularity, or elitism. We are about community, appreciation for art, the written word, and a greater good. Once again, thank you for visiting, and we hope you have as good a time as we do every day.

Read not only the front page of this thread, but the website as well!
This is a custom/premade shop.
All specimens will be sold through auctions, prompts and contests.
Specimens will have four stages all together.
Auctions will occur as soon as the last auction picture is complete. Stages one through five are done first, and after RPing, will start to grow for the last two stages.
All characters must be REAL plants. Special Auctions (those that are autobought) may create crazy fruit, twins, or a special alignment.
Do not harrass faculty on their accounts. Please PM the mule.
Whining is not allowed! If you can't afford the pets, save up, or start a charity. I'm sorry, but these are full/semi-custom.
No flaming or creating drama.
Follow the Gaian ToS.
No excessive cussing.
No typing in 1337-speak or using excessive abbreviations ('u' versus 'you'), so on and so forth.
Roleplay must be proof-read and organized.
No one or two sentence RP's. At least one or two paragraphs please.
Roleplay using asterisks (the * symbol), does not count. You're writing a story.
If there is roleplay going on, please chat between the "((_))" parentheses brackets. Other than that, just chat like normal.
Do not change the storyline in the middle of an active roleplay.
Absolutely no making up things, for example, super-powers, magic. We may have something like that later on.
Proper roleplaying does not include the following symbols: ~ ` @ # $ % ^ & * _ + = | / [ ] { } < >
Do not constantly use 'cute' RP, do some real roleplaying. You're a scientist not an anime character.
Paragraphs are at least 3-5 sentences long.
Fragments are not sentences.
You need to spell out numbers and most abbreviations.

___Amongst the scrolls that once captivated the wealthy of yore in the Great Library in the Ruined City, was a simple piece of paper, wrapped in inexpensive twine. It was, like the other scrolls, lost to time, and for most of history, thought to have been destroyed in the fire that claimed an entire era.
But it had only been forgotten ...
___Amelia grasped a paper within her trembling hand. She slowly laid her head down on the varnished wooden table and slammed the fist upon it hard. Her shoulders quaked, and eventually barely audible sobs began to echo in the empty library. She bit her lip in frustration, tears pouring out of large sapphire eyes to pool on the desk. She watched her fingers rub the wood, feeling the carving of an unreadable name, a notorious trait of university furniture. Books splayed out, pages fluttering when her breath caught them. They seemed to say, "Please, don't cry on us!", or silently judging her for the breakdown. The newly sworn Doctor had spent days, nights, months, researching a simple thing. Or was it so simple? Maybe it was just a fantasy, her years of training in science jeered at any possibility other than evolution and the Big Bang. A girlhood-inspired obsession, a thesis fueled only by her imagination.
___The long scroll that was unfurled before her was solemn, modest in the vast information it held, and yet emanated a powerful aura of times long past. A map, a legend, of the myth Yggdrasil. If the contents were true, would that mean all the Gods were just as real? Perhaps not, the Gods could've just been an added explanation for it. She was so close ... She just needed to find the right dialect. Then, she could translate it with ease. There couldn't be that many? The scroll was written in an ancient text, or so she thought ... She hoped she was assuming right. It had taken her so long to even find the text, and she ran over the memory of obtaining it in her mind. Amelia had been feverishly searching through every exotic curio stand around the world. Finally, an aged man, so wrinkled and sun-worn his heritage was a mystery, approached her with his goods.
___"From the Great Library!" He proclaimed with toothless gusto. His cracking hands eagerly unveiled whatever he had. With dim hopes she examined every book and scroll, heart sinking deeper than it already was with every fake discovered. The Doctor began to turn away, when she realized she'd accidentally brushed aside a scroll of much more evident wear and tear. She picked it up, expecting nothing more than an ancient recipe for fire, "Take one God, mix with wood ..." She murmured under her breath. "... Shake and serve with ritual sacrifice." Amelia gently opened the scroll as the money hungry man gleefully looked on. She narrowed her eyes, squinting through dusty spectacles. It ... couldn't be. That emblem, the drawings, the flourishes caused by the ink used. Could it?
___Her breath caught in her throat, and she glanced at the man out of the corner of her eye. If he saw her interest, he might charge her for all she had ... But of course she did not want to starve a man of well-deserved cash. She paused, rolling it back up and placing it back on the table. His face fell, a chance to have a good meal appearing to be gone. He fell to his knees, pleading, bargaining for a few lira. Amelia swallowed hard, forcing her breaking heart down. She wasn't even sure if it was the right scroll, was it worth it? She let out a loud sigh, making it seem as though she was slowly breaking down, and held out a few coins.
___"Will this cover it?" She remarked boredly. He snatched them up and held them to his bosom, nodding gratefully. She turned away, pocketing the scroll quickly, and searching for a reason to give him more.
___"I'll take this too." Amelia played with a trinket he had hanging from the cart. He smiled happily and presented it to her in a flash. She dropped the coin purse on the cart with the simple phrase, "This should cover it.", and swiftly walked away before he realized how much she'd grossly overpaid. Heart warm from the deed, she guarded her bag carefully before navigating through the marketplace back to the inn.
___Her mind foggily came back to her distraught present. She pulled herself up, and began once more to pour over books and documents, desperately trying to translate the elusive script. The books of science having failed her, she turned to the books of fantasy for comfort. Amelia dropped a large tome in front of her, and opened to her favourite legend. As her eyes misted and glittered over the comforting words of a long past childhood, she let out a stream of air, reciting the passage ever faithfully.
___"The World Tree, this tree is a behemoth species of Ash Tree. The mythological holder and protector of all the worlds. From this tree comes all life, human, animal, and plant. Yggdrasil is the mother tree, the eternal Aidenn which keeps the worlds in balance. To take from this tree, would have unknown consequences and rewards."
___She leaned back in her chair, thumping fingers methodically upon the pages. Reaching a hand out she pushed multitudes of language dictionaries aside, stopping suddenly as she spied a book she'd previously tossed aside with the conclusion of it being gibberish. Amelia picked it up, and smoothed her hand over the cover, her fingertips outlining the emblem. It matched the one on her tome and the scroll. How did she miss this before? Placing her thumb on the front of the thin book she flipped through it, until she recognized a symbol. Dr. Amelia spread out the scroll again and compared the two on different papers, it was a match! Her glee was unable to be masked, as she began the slow translation process.
___The map was finally done, and Dr. Gaia set out immediately, following detailed instructions on the scroll to find what would make her life's work a success. It took her three months to reach the area where the tree was said to exist, and the group that she had brought with her had given up on her long ago. She was exhausted, malnourished, and incredibly filthy when she finally set foot in the designated spot. She looked around, there was nothing, nothing but desolation and emptiness. Amelia hung her head and fell to her knees, she had failed. She looked out across the bare ground, nothing was there. Her eyes desperately searched for a sign, something she'd missed ... But it was fruitless. She was too weak to go back or continue, and she raised her fist just like that night so long ago, and loosed it upon the earth below. Amelia cried out, her hand had hit something hard, and she doubled over grasping knuckles in white hot pain.
___Angrily she began to dig down, determined to punish whatever had injured her. She shrieked and leapt back, her hands having touched something that was pulsing. After several pregnant minutes, she gathered her courage and gently touched it. Nothing happened. More courage swelled up and she gripped it and began to pull. Nothing again. She laughed, holding onto it and feeling very sheepish about her fears. Suddenly the ground lurched and the thing she grabbed whipped into the ground, carrying her with it. Amelia screamed and looked up trying to prepare herself to let go and climb, but eventually the speck of light above her disappeared, and a new one appeared below. She shut her eyes, and began to pray.
___Amelia woke up hours later, feeling comforted and dreamlike. Her head had a dull ache, and she raised it slowly before letting out yet another cry of astonishment. The grass was long, and greener than emeralds. Plants of all shapes and sizes towered over her head, thick with flowers of all the colours of the rainbow. Swollen fruits filled with juices hung low, and three waterfalls gushed over the roots, each one going down a level. Dr. Gaia was startled by her discovery, but even more so by the fact that she had indeed found the World Tree. It stood in the middle of the meadow, and seemed to reach into the sky for miles. New species of fruit and flowers seemed to gaily decorate the heavy branches. Dr. Gaia was amazed, every species of plant that had ever been created was on one tree. Large yellow buds would swell in front of her eyes and burst open, deep pomegranete-red bulbs hung loosely as seeds dropped down below.
___The Botanist basked in the sun and washed away the agony and grime of her journey in the springs. Sunlight began to fade away, and Amelia started to fill the bags she had left to the brim with seeds. Buds would burst and she would hold a bag up to the blooming flower, catching the shower of seeds with gusto. She looked around at the large branches that seemed to disappear into nothingness. A scrap of dirty white on a branch caught her eye, and matching it to the large tear in her shirt, she guessed that must be the branch that dipped into her world. Amelia stood up, and wiped the sweat off her forehead. She began to notice the residents of the tree eying her oddly, and she filled her last seven bags. Dropping them into her knapsack she turned quickly and sucked in air sharply, a young man who looked not much older than her stood in her way.
___"What are you doing?" He asked with a heavy accent. His deep red eyes flickered from her, to the knapsack in her hand. She pursed her lips and took a breath.
___"I ... I am gathering seeds to study." Amelia's voice trembled, unsure of what to expect. He tilted his head curiously.
___"Are you a seed?" She gave him a confused look and shook her head. He made a soft noise, considering her reply. "I am a seed." He gestured to himself and smiled. Obviously bewildered, he explained, "Modir." Using an ancient word for Mother, he placed his hand upon the World Tree. Amelia looked at him, bewildered. The tree, was his mother? She didn't understand what that meant, had he fallen in too? She noticed the odd branches coming out of his back and it dawned on her, a steady revelation.
___"It ... She ... Births?" He nodded and smiled, white teeth flashing against golden skin.
___"Only in seeds from her. Those which have wandered and grown for too long without the wells, have turned into normal plants." The man smiled at her again, his innocent nonchalance apparent. Her head spun wildly, the World Tree truly was the spring of all life! Perhaps this was the Eden referred to in the Bible! All the legends!
___"Are you leaving now?" The man asked softly, sadness crossing his face. "You are the first here in so long, and I am the only one."
___Amelia's mind was filled with amusement, he seemed a far cry from the exposed and dirty-minded men of Earth. She nodded and he sighed softly, "May I ... Come with you?"
___She was taken aback, why would he want to leave this paradise? She declined and he persisted, over and over. He begged, and pleaded. Amelia brought up every excuse she could think of.
___"What of your mother? Your world?" She rattled on and on. He shook his head and pressed her to agree.
___"I am alone here, I don't want to be alone anymore, let me go into the world with you." The thickly honeyed voice slowly began to win her over. A woman can only take so much charm until she finally says, "Are you positive?" Voice trailing off, leaving entrance for an answer. The young man looked at her and he began to bargain.
___"If you let me, I will help you with them ..." He gestured to the bags of seeds. Amelia bit her lip, still unsure of what to do, until after heavy deliberation, she agreed. He grinned and let out a whoop of delight, and pressed his lips to the bark of the tree, whispering Good-Bye. As they finally left for the outside world, Amelia softly asked if he had a name. He replied simply, "Baldr."
___When she returned, the Scientific community continued to argue against Dr. Gaia's proof that the World Tree were real, albeit in the face of such leviathan evidence. Such is the hardheaded attitudes of science. Frustrated, she founded her own Biosphere and Laboratory Greenhouse to promote further studies. One night, Amelia awoke to shrill cries of pain echoing from Baldr. She held him in her arms as he screeched of a horrific burning sensation. His temperature had risen immensely, and he screamed of flames licking at his sides, yet visually there were none. After days and nights of the same result, the Doctor finally left with Baldr to once again go to the World Tree. Something had happened.
Our purpose at the Laboratories of Vale of Earth is one thing only. To uphold Dr. Gaia's beliefs and ideals. We will prove to the world that myths are not simply stories, but the founders of life, and when the time comes to use the powers of the Yggdrasil to save the worlds from Ragnarok!

Baby
___A large seed from a plant has incubated within a pod and has borne a baby. The child is odd-looking, and is as delicate if it was from a human mother. Perhaps additional care and inclusion in personal events in your life will help? The more attention you give your charge, the more it will mold itself to your personal preferences.
Growth Requirements
Must be a Baby for at least 1 month.
1 Journal RP Entry (from the Baby or Caretaker's perspective).
1 Thread RP Entry (from the Baby or Caretaker's perspective).
1 Interaction with another Vale RP (thread or journal from the Baby or Caretaker's perspective).
4 Realm Travel RP's.
*You cannot do all as Baby or Caretaker perspective, you must alternate.
Child
___Your charge now has the ability of verbal communication, although it still gets confused. It's still needy, and has become increasingly attached to you. In some senses, it may even treat you as a parent. All they want to do at this stage is run around and explore what they can. You'll probably need to add some more safety precautions to your home.
Growth Requirements
Must be a Child for at least 2 months.
2 Journal RP Entries (from the Child or Caretaker's perspective).
1 Thread RP Entries (from the Child or Caretaker's perspective).
2 Interactions with another Vale RP (thread or journal from the Child or Caretaker's perspective).
1 Private RP (two or three people maximum including yourself, must be done in a seperate thread in the Breedables RP forum).
7 Realm Travel RP's.
*You cannot do all as Child or Caretaker perspective, you must alternate.
Youth
___They have blossomed into the best times of their young lives. Puberty has hit them hard, and the sudden need for them to have friends, be accepted, and perhaps feel romance. This is an especially painful time for them, as they don't understand why the world won't accept them, while at the same time trying to accept themselves.
Growth Requirements
Must be a Youth for at least 3 months.
3 Journal RP Entries (from the Youth or Caretaker's perspective).
2 Thread RP Entries (from the Youth or Caretaker's perspective).
3 Interactions with another Vale RP (thread or journal from the Youth or Caretaker's perspective).
2 Private RP's (two or three people maximum including yourself, must be done in a seperate thread in the Breedables RP forum).
10 Realm Travel RP's.
1 Valkyrie attainment RP.
*You cannot do all as Youth or Caretaker perspective, you must alternate.
Einherjar
___After long and trying days as a youth, they have somehow managed to procure their Valkyrie. Through the several battles and realms they had to face, your Specimen eventually died valiantly upon the field. Their mortal purpose fulfilled, the Valkyrie escorted it to Valhalla to become an exalted Einherjar, before returning to Gaia to become a guardian of a selected Realm. They have now bound to the essence of the Valkyrie, making them stronger, more eccentric looking, and immortal.

___Uennie was offered a position on-staff by a former head, and accepted
after heavy consideration. She organizes the entire Vale, oversees
growths, and activity. Uennie ensures the increased efficiency in the
Laboratory personally, while taking care of her own Vale. She is always
watching, even when you think she's not around. Uennie is also known for
her charitable actions, as illustrated by her non-profit Awareness events
held through the Vale of Earth.
Researcher Kyocho

___Kyocho is an excellent example of employee dedication. He is
a young aspiring elf scientist, and takes great pride in his Cactus
Specimen. He has minor jurisdiction over events and is head of
the unreleased Esperanza Wing. The Esperanza Wing houses several
unbalanced chemicals, and he's known to disappear in there for hours.
Is he possibly studying some way for breeding Specimens?

___Kitten is a shape shifter. Her hair and eyes are usually gray, and she's
been known to spend a few days with various styles and colour changes.
She and her Tulip Specimen are seen frequently around the Laboratories.
She has minor jurisdiction over events and is head of the Darwin Wing.
The Darwin Wing holds a massive museum and eclectic menagerie, that
all Observers are welcome into with their Specimens.

A: No, all sales go through the shop. No trading.

A: If you don't show up or have a huge lack of participation we reserve the right to confiscate and re-distribute your charge to someone else.

Beneath the three roots the realms of Asgard, Jotunheim, and Niflheim are located.
