Name: Iris Anderson
Gender: Female
Birthdate: AL 85
Age: 23
Height: 5'1"
Weight: 117 lbs
Patrol: New Eve
Rank: Private
Apprentice: Cassadaine Stephens
Appearance: Though short and attractively curvaceous, Iris still manages to appear slender as well. Back home she was said to be “as beautiful as the rainbow.” Traditionalists prefer her looks because she is beautiful without having any odd color mutations. Her hair is a dark, rich brown that hangs in thick, wavy locks to the small of her back. But she keeps her silky hair in a single loose braid over one shoulder, tied neatly with a simple red ribbon. Technically the purpose is to keep it all out of her face, but thin locks often escape and float about anyways.
Her blue-grey eyes are often clouded with longing, but when she is pleased they shine with a childlike joy that has never quite left her. Her skin is neither pale nor dark, but colored with the healthy glow of youth. This same youthful energy extends even to her light, slightly clumsy, carefree movements.
History: Iris’ first years were blissful ones. Her young parents treasured her, loved her, doted on her, and gave her their fullest attention. But then when she was two, their obsessive love of children led them to adopt a newborn baby whose Wolfrider parents could not care for him properly. Immediately there was a change, subtle but sure. Her parents were never neglectful, but their time and attention were abruptly transferred to the frail infant.
Over the course of the years, Iris ended up gaining seven adopted younger siblings by the time she was twelve. Her parents could not sanely manage so many children but her mother, believed to have an obsessive compulsive disorder but refusing to officially find out, refused to give up a single child to another home. So being the eldest, Iris found herself obligated to help constantly with her younger brothers and sisters, being nearly a second mother to the two youngest. Not only could she not take any time to herself, her education was affected as her mother more and more frequently called her out of school to care for the younger ones.
When she was fourteen, a neighbor discovered the chaotic conditions in the home and alerted the authorities. Iris’ mother was taken away for therapy, the adopted children to other homes, and Iris herself to board at the Academy as her father was found to be a drug addict from stress over his wife and taken to rehab.
By that time Iris knew little of girls her own age, and had difficulty making friends as a young recruit. She could not remember what it was like to be loved and appreciated. Though she had matured in many ways, love had not touched her for a very long time…
Then Silversoul danced into her life and swept her away. She was at once stunned and thrilled that the young wolf she’d admired most for his subtle beauty and fluid grace had chosen her. Completely ignorant of his motives, she only knew that she adored him. Her constant doting and admiration gradually won his heart, and the pair became inseparable. Off in the woodlands and fields, she would tell him her favorite childhood stories of the Middle Ages, in an era long long ago. Not until a year or two later did she realize how much her tales affected him. All she knew was that he became much more courteous, both towards her and others, paid a tad more respect due his elders, and ceased his cruel teasing.
She found that no matter what she did, he stuck stubbornly by her, and soon she began to open up to him, explaining things he already knew in a way only she understood. To her he was a friend, a brother, a mentor, a listener—nearly a lover, strange as the idea was. Her entire adult life and being have been shaped around him, to the point that the separation of death would do irreparable damage to not only her emotional but her physical health.
She has only just taken Cassadaine Stephens as her very first apprentice, and is quite excited about the prospect of being a teacher and protector for the girl. Little does she know what she's in for...
Personality: Long years helping to raise her younger siblings have given Iris a motherly sort of instinct and a strong flair for leadership. She has a strong sense of justice and a need to see that everyone is treated fairly. As a result, she hates bullies. She simply cannot coexist with one. Despite her small stature she can make an imposing figure when sticking up for a youngster. She nurtures a sort of pride in taking younger, newer people under her wing wherever she is--as a recruit, younger recruits, now as a private, apprentices.
Aside from her motherliness, though, she is still the embodiment of an awkward, insecure young adult, still growing into her beautiful body and trying to catch up mentally and emotionally to what she has physically. When confiding in friends she will often refer to “a sort of longing” that stirs within her. Perhaps for a man to care for her, perhaps for children to care for, perhaps for something beyond her words and imagination. She wants something, but doesn’t quite know what. The longing has diminished to almost nothing since she met Silversoul, but still it lingers.
Silversoul is the love and obsession of her life. Ever since a few days after their bonding she has adored him, doted on him, needed him. Her life revolves around him. His tender, strong care for her have brought out a passionate love she never knew she was capable of. The few times she has seen him punished by an Alpha or Beta she has been enraged to the point of actually attacking the offending wolf. Ever since then they have meted out their punishment without her present. Despite the fact that he is multiple times her size, she has never gotten over her need to protect him, a tendency that shames them both.
Before authority she is polite and respectful, save when she sees injustice. In the heat of the moment she will often lose all sense of her rank and upbraid any man in whatever way she sees fit. For this reason she often sticks to herself, with Silversoul, to avoid conflict. Though she is aware that she is not always right, her instincts sometimes don’t agree.
