Writing + Critiquing Workshops!

We would like to start workshops in the Writing and the Character Development subforums. These workshops will have definite starting dates and sign-ups for each session. Groups will be between 3-10 students total, depending on the preferences of the teachers involved. The teachers will set the startup date and may run their workshops whenever they please. Teachers have the right to cancel any session that does not get enough people signed up.

Potential students, please post to tell us what sort of workshops you would be interested in.

How the Workshops will be Run

The point of each workshop is to simultaneously give students feedback on their writing and to provide each student with the experience of providing meaningful critique. Critiquing will not only help the person that you critique, but will help you improve your own writing as you develop a more sensitive eye for common or tricky writing mistakes.

Students will present short pieces of writing and then they will be assigned a piece of writing to critique. We suggest works from between 500-1000 words, whether you are dealing with character profiles or RP samples. Each work will be critiqued during a time period determined by the workshop teacher. While your work is being critiqued, you may NOT respond to critiques or make comments about your own work. Teachers may allow a time period for response to critiques of your work, or they may chose to evaluate the critiques themselves.

Each group of students will have at least one teacher, a critic approved by the SDRP, who will help guide them in their critiquing rounds. Each teacher will decide how many rounds/revisions will be handled in that particular class.

(thank you, Jahoclave, for this idea!!!)
