Character: Super Grieve of the Collapse
Location: D9
HP: 75
Target: Guardian
Action: casting her super magic
Damage: 6 - 2 + 10 = 14

The ******** counter attack was getting blocked eight an left, literally with knight and senshi magic flying up to meet those prismatic beams that looked like they'd hurt. A large magical Evil Eye came between a strike and her a**, keeping the latter safe and fully in the action. "Thanks!" She called out, grin much too wide and toothy for polite company. She wasn't sure if Kua'Kua counted as polite, but she sure did know how to pack a Petal Punch.

There was really nothing like fighting alongside a bunch of capable people. Dark, quiet deeds in solitary alleys will never measure up to this feeling.

Good to see they were starting to ******** it up. Bad to see it still in one piece. She hated fighting robot s**t, the longer things went on, they more likely they were set to explode. Closing her eyes, she sent up a brief prayer to Cosmos' Fragrant Kneecaps, and cast once more.

Super Sailor Scout Attack: Two Will Fall
Grieve will either say the phrase while looking at the targets, point while looking at the targets, or directly touch the targets' limbs in order to cast. When hit with the attack, the targets will feel their body collapsing in on itself with a pair of limbs (either both arms or both legs) feeing completely crushed under the pressure and no longer able to move or support their body . No lasting damage unless the players decide the target took some from any resulting fall.

Character: Halle Knight of Lysithea
Location: G9
Target:
Action: Shielding centered around Tempesti

That had been...a lot. The Guardian may be getting weaker, but it looked like it was growing a lot more dangerous at well. Looking over toward his brother and the others, he let out the breath that he'd been holding since that counter strike had lit up the air. They were all good, Dering's shielding held strong. Lisse was practically glowing from going all out in a fight, he'd have to tell him later, that he'd done a good job. Halle had maybe been a bit too lecturey earlier, especially in front of Lisse's friends. Catching Reims's nod, the Ganymede knight got his own thumb's up in return.

Good luck storming the castle, man.

Looking at the fighters in the field recover their bearing, Halle gauged his magic pool. It was getting close, so he called out in warning, "I can only handle one more wave!" And even then it'd be tight, especially if the attack came in more than one direction. After that, it would be Tulip's time to shine.

Knight Weapon: A fancy golden long shield shaped like a unicorn head
Defensive magic: summons a 20' x 10' version of the golden shield, while it only blocks magic and physical attacks from one direction, it is a physical manifestation that also blocks line of sight as to what's going on behind it.

When summoned in a space smaller than the shield, it will manifest but won't damage the surrounding environment.

Character: Lisse, Knight of Lysithea
Location: C8
HP: 100
Target: Guardian
Action: Attacking with magic
Damage Done: 10 + 7= 17

Lisse was getting tired of this thing, tired of worrying about himself, Dering, his stupid brother, Reims.

“Yeah! We’re still good. Just want this to be done, I hope it’ll be soon.” He sent another pulse of his magic at the construct and looked to Dering, grinning. “That was so amazing. Your shield is so much cooler than my brothers. Don’t tell him I said that but, it’s absolutely the truth.”

Quote:
Magic: Lisse spins his lasso in the air and three ethereal unicorns appear and charge at the nearest enemy, rearing and attacking with its hooves and horn. The range of this magic is fifteen feet and the magic can be channeled for forty five seconds. The unicorns do no true physical damage but the player may choose to have bruises remain after the fact.

Character Name: Eternal Sailor Alastor, Senshi of Despair
Location: H8
HP: 95
Target: Guardian
Action: Using despair/physical/crushing pain magic
Damage Done: 10 + 8 = 18

They weren’t making enough progress. It felt no different from lashing out at a wall that occasionally dropped bricks–or sparked lightning. It was unfulfilling combat, not that Alastor thought that was something to complain about. It’s not like any of them were here to have a good time–just to help Tempesti take care of her problem.

And, this thing seemed to be getting more ornery–more dangerous. Nobody looked down and out for the count, but if it kept up as it was, it might not be too long before it started doing some real damage.

Alastor hadn’t used this much magic in a while, and while he knew he still had a small reserve, he was running pretty slim on options. Might as well go all out while everyone was still standing.

Quote:
TL;DR crushing weight/physical pain/despair

Alastor speaks the name of his attack and every enemy nearby will feel an absolute hopelessness; pure despair will override nearly all emotion and thoughts and it is nearly impossible to focus on anything beyond the overwhelming misery. The air feels thick with gloom and melancholy and seems impossibly heavy, like it is crushing everyone within radius. Targets may feel as if there is suddenly an unbeatable obstacle they have no chance to overcome. Targets may become acutely aware of the hardships and loss in their life. The magic can make someone feel physically exhausted and can be disorienting and emotionally draining; as the despair sets in they may feel like the crushing weight of it all is bruising them or making it hard to breathe but all sensations end when out of radius or when the magic fades unless players choose otherwise. The magic has one use and lasts for 45 seconds. It affects all enemies within a fifteen foot radius of Alastor and the magic will follow him if he moves, but the effects end if the character moves out of radius.

Character: Amarynthos, Knight of the Moon
Location: I9
HP: 95
Target: Guardian
Action: Attacking with Bear Summon that is clawing at construct
Damage Done: 10+4 = 14

“Do you think that’s the only reason I’d say it?” Amarynthos asked, tilting his head slightly. His eyes remained on their enemy but his smile was clearly meant for Ephesus. “I’m not worried about you. You’re practically the strongest guy I know. I mean, tough competition against your dads, but you’re top three in my book.”

His eyes followed the familiar Lysithea Knight–who looked like Lisse but was definitely not Lisse, who was still by Dering. Even if they were all in this together, Amarynthos owed him thanks after this.

Ephesus had called upon his summon, so now was as good a time as any. If someone was going to be scared of a tiger, they might as well have a bear to go along with it. And, it was an excuse to catch his breath.

He touched the honeycomb pendant housing his summon and willed it to his aid, watching as it took only a single second to assess the scene before charging at the large construct and swiping at it.

Quote:
Summon : A white grizzly bear with pastel tinted fur tips that sometimes glitter with moonlight. Its claws look like moonstone. When summoned, it will lash out with teeth and claws. It will pummel targets with brute force and can roar loudly. Players can choose to avoid damage or take temporary or lasting damage at their discretion; the bear’s primary goal is to intercept and intimidate enemies and it will lash out forcefully to do so.

Character Name: Dering, Knight of Lysithea
Location: C8
HP: 100
Target: Shield magic has 15x15 range
Action: Preparing shielding magic for the next attack/timing his shield
Damage/Healing/Buff/Debuff Done: N/A

The strange, musical sound felt like it was tickling somewhere deep inside Dering’s ear canals. He tuned everything else out–waiting, carefully. Dering was still. Every muscle was taut, sprung too tightly. Like a trap, ready to set itself off amidst even so little as a breeze.

It hadn’t registered that the strange, musical sound was coming from the chamber and not the back of his mind; he tuned that out, too.

The construct froze. He held his breath.

And then, rays of something too bright to look at exploded around them, and Dering strummed. His fingers were clumsy but hit the mark. He didn’t have a song in mind, he just played whatever he could–and it was enough. The shield was up again, only a second before a blast came towards Reims.

No, that’s too close. Don’t do that, you’ll mess up. He’ll get hurt. Do better.

But, no one within his shield looked hurt, yet.

Dering wasn't a gambler. He wasn’t risky like that. He wanted–needed–to keep his friends safe. As soon as the danger seemed to pass, the shield dropped again.

He didn’t have an infinite well of magic. Mid combat, it was impossible to properly count out how many seconds he’d used. His heart was pounding in his chest but Dering was in position and ready to cast his magic again. The large construct didn’t have any obvious tells–and it was fast. He didn’t want to miss his cue.

Quote:
TL;DR: misty unicorn shield 15’ x 15’ radius

Magic: Dering begins to pluck at the strings of his lute and a cool mist begins to spread in a fifteen foot radius around him. Hazy shapes begin to manifest in the mist and quickly takes the form of several ethereal unicorns that begin to trot in a circle near the outskirts of the mist. It can be difficult to make out their forms, but the mist swirls around them and the faster Dering plays, the quicker they move. The unicorns do not attack or stray from their path; they protectively encircle Dering and any allies within his radius. These unicorns can block physical attacks his level or lower by taking the blow instead, but higher level attacks will turn the unicorn into mist. Magical attacks will pass through them, but the mist makes it almost impossible to pinpoint where anyone is inside. Anyone Dering trusts can pass through the circle of unicorns, but everyone else will be blocked by the rushing unicorns. Any contact with them will push someone back unless otherwise plotted; players can choose to take blunt force damage if they like. His magic will move with him, and he can channel his magic for up to 60 seconds.

“On Vengeful Wings!”

Tempesti’s voice comes louder, perhaps, than she anticipated as the command flies from her lips, filling the Wellspring chamber which flares with eddies of light and sound. The countless crystals embedded in the walls surge brightly and a canny observer might realize that it was their combined power that flowed through this room, primed these crystals to rekindle an ancient bond. In a torrent of wind and lightning a flock of harpies descends upon the shrine’s altar before seeming to vanish into the facets of its huge crystal.

All at once silence descends upon the tower and those within it, a comforting hush that envelopes the chamber as the gleam within the Wellspring’s crystal erupts into a blazing beacon, casting a soft, warm radiance across the party. The fountain in which its pedestal stands begins to fill with clear water which sparkles with every glint that strikes its surface and as though from nowhere, delicate climbing vines wind their way around the pedestal’s shaft, large colorful flowers bursting into bloom.

Despite the power this shrine clearly holds, what wrath it might have harbored dies in the face of those willing to fight to give this world a chance as the construct floats unsteadily to hover above the many-pointed crystal at the shrine’s center.

In the space of a breath, Tempesti reached out and found a life mirroring and cherishing its own, a voice to harmonize with its forgotten song, and for one eternal moment the planet courses through its guardian, bright threads blooming upward along the young senshi’s arms and shoulders before making its way across the pale skin of her face. A looping symbol flares across her forehead as the world claims her as its own, a blazing stream connecting two hearts across centuries and igniting a flame long dimmed by time and loss.

She was whole.

They were whole.

User Image

In the pulsing afterimages of the planet’s light, it would be easy to miss the little lavender wisp drifting downward through the lanterns floating above the shrine toward the senshi below, still staring in silent disbelief at the threads of light twining around her arms. She looks up in apparent surprise, as though encountering a companion she’d thought had forgotten her. It hovers briefly above her head before beginning to quiver, its edges blurring until with a flash of sparks and feathers and an unholy squawk that pierces the listeners to their very souls, it explodes. In its place a horrible chicken flaps to the ground, cocking her head to scrutinize the party gathered at the Wellspring. Though in many respects she resembles a mundane chicken with a particularly menacing face and unsettlingly glowing red eyes, she flies with the assistance of what can only be described as fairy wings, colorful sparkles trailing behind her as she moves.

User Image

Seemingly deeming the humans in the area beneath her interest, she begins to flap and peck around the edges of the Wellspring room, eventually making her way to the space behind the shrine and out of sight.

“What is it…?” Tempesti’s expression is thoroughly perplexed as her gaze follows the strange little creature. A few moments later, a sphere built of crystal arranged to resemble stained glass rolls toward her, coming to a stop against her boot.

“It’s one of those homing beacons!”

Stepping around the shrine to follow the chicken she bends downward for a moment before coming up awkwardly holding a heavy looking wood and metal chest. With a few short shuffles, she sets it down in view of the party, revealing that it is full of homing beacons like the one dropped by a construct at the base of the tower. It seems likely that the constructs’ ancient builder was interrupted in their work.

“You know, from what I’m able to tell from some of the…old memories…these could be useful. If you want to explore your own places. You’re welcome to take some, if you like. It’s only right after all the help you’ve all given me…given this whole world” The senshi offers the group a sincere and slightly tearful smile as the chicken thing flaps over toward the chest.

Quote:
Tempestine Kaleidoscopic Core – A strangely resilient sphere made of colorful crystal shards arranged to resemble stained glass, it is large enough to fill the palm of an average sized adult hand. When held, the sphere casts brilliant rainbows in every direction regardless of the lighting. When a character focuses on the core with intent, it begins to levitate and the light cast takes on unusual geometric properties.

While the sphere is in this active state, its owner may use it to set a waypoint that serves as a homing beacon. Should they become lost, they may activate the orb a second time and it will float along, guiding them back to the waypoint, after which it will become inert.

This item does not function in meta settings and may only be used in character-specific locations with the owner’s permission. Should a character attempt to activate it outside of approved circumstances, it will be unresponsive.

After the sphere becomes inert, it loses its luminous qualities, but it is still pretty. Characters may keep it as a memento.

Anyone who participated in these ORPs is welcome to take one as thanks for helping me finish off this plot! I truly appreciate you all indulging me.

Character: Blarney
Location: D9
HP: 45-23 = 22
Target: N/A
Action: Seeing little cartoon birds swirl around his head
Damage/Healing/Buff/Debuff Done: N/A

CLANG. That was what everyone else would've heard as Blarney's face collided painfully with a piece of the guardian's metalframework. As if that wasn't bad enough, the combined force of that and the thing's attack actually briefly knocked him unconscious, just for a second or two; long enough for him to blearily peek his eyes open and see a fantastic spread of rainbows and lights and wonder is this heaven? before he felt someone (an angel, maybe?) dragging him away. Maybe that light was the sorta light that met you at the end of the tunnel and he wasn't supposed to go yet...but it was so pretty...

The next thing Blarney knew, a little round orb was bumping into him like it was nudging him awake. He blinked at it, and then at the people around him; his ears were still kind of ringing, but it didn't seem like they were fighting anymore?

"Di'we geddit?" Blarney asked, his words coming out slurred because--oh, there was blood in his mouth. That couldn't be a good sign. Oh, his face hurt. A lot. He brought a gloved hand to his face and pulled back red; his nose. It was probably broken, he realized dimly. Mads would kill him.

Oh, heck. Mads.

Mads? I'm okay, I'm so sorry--is that a chicken?

Blarney blinked as the bird flapped around a bit. Maybe he'd hit his head harder than he thought?

"'Re you guys seein' that too?" Blarney asked, peering up at the fighters around him. Where was Monch? Was she okay? He'd been a terrible partner, lunging in without her...he owed her an apology. He never should have tried to get into that thing. It probably would've evaporated him even if he had been successful...but he hadn't, because boy cheerleaders were there to toss the girl cheerleaders, not themselves, and he had briefly forgotten that key fact.

Wiping away as much of the blood on his face as he could, Blarney struggled to his feet, after tucking the orb into his satchel. He glanced around, his eyes landing on Tempesti for the first time since the battle started.

"Woah! Hey! 'S it just me or d'you look--different? In a good way! Congrats, I think!"

Character: Kuakua
Location: C8
HP: 45
Target: N/A
Action: Just being glad no one is dead
Damage/Healing/Buff/Debuff Done: N/A

Kua'kua held her breath as the crystals glowed - either something very good or very bad was about to happen. She winced, and when it was over, she let the breath out slowly - they were still alive. They had won; or, rather, Eternal Sailor Tempesti had won, unless Kua'kua was wrong about the wings that newly adorned her back.

"Congratulations," Kua'kua said softly, a little smile on her face as she bowed gently to the newly promoted guardian of this planet. "May you and your world continue to grow in peace." Kua'kua paused as a magical animal of some kind appeared - it looked...mismatched, somehow, but Kua'kua wasn't one to judge. Perhaps it was native or representative of this world in some way.

In a day that had been full of strangeness, that was perhaps the strangest thing about it.

After pocketing one of the little orbs herself, Kua'kua glanced around and made her way over to Grieve.

"Are you alright, friend?" Kua'kua asked in her soft, unobtrusive voice. "You fought ferociously. Do you need aid?" Kua'kua could not cast any healing magic herself, and she had no way to bandage any injuries, but...surely someone of the gathered group had some healing ability. She would find someone to do what she could not do herself, if necessary.

Character: Lisse, Knight of Lysithea

It was over...he was so glad that it was over. This. It hadn't been a difficult fight physically, thanks to Dering and his brother but...mentally? Emotionally? He felt like. Well, it didn't matter what he felt like, he supposed. Lisse's gut reaction was to invite Dering and Reims to go and get food but...

Hah. No, that would only make Reims mad at him again, he supposed, so with a sigh and a smile that when directed at Dering was completely genuine he nodded. "Thanks for all of that. You're amazing and I love getting to fight alongside of you. We need to hang out again soon, yeah?" He reached out and clasped Dering's shoulder, giving it a gentle squeeze and then nodded to Reims, before looking away quickly. "Don't worry. No food. I'm just gonna...Go.

He was glad that they had won, and glad that Tempesti seemed so happy. That was good. That was nice! And there were presents, that was also nice...and they were pretty. Reminding him of Reims again but. Ugh. Whatever. He stashed the orb in subspace and hurried over to Halle. "...Ready?"

Character: Halle Knight of Lysithea

It was an utter relief that the building light that had grown steadily brighter over the fight as they cast both their magic and their bodies (...he should check in with Blarney later...) at the Guardian, hadn't ended up some kind of dire countdown. It had hard been to tell if it was charging up into something that would hurt or help, but in the end, Halle remembered that these worlds, or at least those who built them up, ultimately wanted them to succeed. Wanted their senshi to have access to the power they held. With every door that opened with Tempesti's magic, it had been a welcome of sorts. An, I've been waiting. This is where you belong.

And seeing the glowing marks on her forehead and arms, Halle knew it to be true. "Congratulations," he began solemnly. And then. her Fairy Chickenmother descended.

"I think?"

Picking up a homing beacon, which looked well...beautiful and precious, like they should be in a museum and not belonging to some regular old teenage boy like him, Halle sighed. And it was magic to boot. Giving the senshi a smile, he nodded, "If you're sure, then thank you. I'll probably need it sooner or later." It'd likely come in handy next time he decided to explore the caverns of his wonder.

Seeing Lisse run over, Halle grinned brightly. Then paused, a bit confused. Was he really not going to urge some sort of celebration with as many friends as possible? Weird. But he could wait to ask.

"Yeah, my pool's about dried up, so I think we can call it a night."

Turning he waved at Reims and Dering, then cupped his mouth to call out, "Good fight! We'll do it again sometime!"

Character: [x] Niflhel Knight of Saturn

Niflhel's head turned towards Tempesti when he heard her voice call her attack and nodded softly when he noticed that it seemed she gained glowing markings. He'd seen those before and well to say he was proud of the senshi that it felt like he'd only met a few weeks ago, was perhaps an understatement.

Of course then a little wisp turned into some weird fairy chicken which was --- interesting? Cool? He wasn't sure but hey who was he to judge a fairy chicken?

When tempesti offered a prize of sorts he moved to pick one up and slide it swiftly into his subspace and gave her a nod and a faint smile, "Good job. Lets catch up later."

It wasn't long after he made his way back to earth.

Character: [x] Cardinal, Senshi of the Uktena

Cardinal sat there looking at the big wobbly thing as it just kind of stopped.... They did it??? She blinked owlishly looking around and saw that something was happening to Tempesti. It looked very much like what Hugbell had dealt with?

Glowy markings. She looked in awe for a few moments and then blinked again when suddenly a chicken ----- with fairy wings??? Just appeared out of seemingly thin air? She'd missed the fact it was a little wisp.

"Oh that's so cool." She muttered before getting up to her feet unsteadily when the chest was brought out.

She moved to snag one, and looked over to Tempesti, "You glow like my cousin does! Congrats!!" She chuckled, "this was interesting, let me know if you need help again!"

With that Cardinal sighed, "I do need to go rest though, that almost completely kicked my butt." She retreated back to earth for a nice long bath before a nap.
