Physical description: Regal stands a little over six feet and has a slim yet muscular figure that cleverly disguises his physical ability. His long mane of snow white hair is usually tied back in a ponytail for simplicity, and he also sports a dazzling pair of emerald green eyes.
His traveling outfit consists of simple but functional black pants and boots held up by a sturdy leather belt that also carries his Pokéballs, a plain white muscle shirt and his favorite black overcoat, as well as a black and gold scarf with matching hat.

Personality: Regal's a fun loving guy who likes to live his life like a Sunday stroll, taking it easy and enjoying every minute as though it would be his last. While he normally feigns stupidity, he's actually quite intelligent. He's also a shameless flirt, believing that someday he'll find his true soul mate out there if he looks hard enough. Despite his laid back attitude, Regal loves battling and can be very competitive at times. The thrill of a challenge always gets his blood boiling.
Personal Skills: Regal has a number of different talents. He was taught both fencing and martial arts since he was young for his own protection, and has grown quite adept at both. He has been taught to play both piano and the violin, though he's never really played for his own enjoyment. He's also got a curious talent for mimicking voices, and is even a decent cook.
Family: Regal comes from a very wealthy family whose roots lie back in Kanto. He doesn't have a very good relationship with his folks, so they haven't spoken in quite some time. He has a very close relationship with his grandfather however, who was a very gifted trainer in his youth and helped teach him a lot of what he knows about Pokémon. Despite his running away from home, Regal makes sure to write to him at least once a month in order to keep him from worrying.
Hometown: Regal hails from Saffron City in the Kanto region.
Biography: From the moment he was born in the Saffron City hospital, Regal's parents had very big plans for their son. The Bastion family had produced many famous scientists throughout the ages, their legend beginning with Regal's great great grandfather, who developed the world's first Porygon. Over the years, the family grew incredibly wealthy and incredibly powerful, with the Bastion name being well known in circles worldwide. Delighted to have a son to carry on their legacy, his parents had the boy home schooled under the watchful eye of various tutors, famous musicians, and other talented men and women.
It wasn't long after Regal began his studies that it became clear that he also possessed the special brand of genius that had made his family so powerful. He was immediately instructed in the many disciplines known to his family, as well as various other skills such as dancing, fencing, and playing the piano. Regal didn't disappoint. By the time he was twelve, he was capable of working through mathematical equations and computer code that would make an adult's head spin. Not long after his sixteenth birthday, he successfully created a Porygon with the help of his grandfather.
Their was a small problem, however.
While he may have shown incredible skill, Regal displayed very little interest in continuing his predecessor's work. On the contrary, when asked, the boy told his parents that all he really wanted to do was be a Pokémon trainer and go on an adventure to explore the world like his grandfather did when he was young. Frustrated with this response, Regals parents had his study sessions doubled, with hopes that it would squash the boy's desire to travel out of him. This only served to push their son even further away from their aspirations, as he continued to grow up sheltered, lonely, and ultimately frustrated with his life being entirely dictated by his family.
The final straw came when his family announced that they had arranged a marriage for him with the daughter of a powerful businessman over in the Kalos region. Fury finally overtaking him, Regal decided then and there that he wasn't going to let anyone else rule over his life ever again. That same night, he used his Porygon's abilities to slip through his manors security system and left without a word to anyone except his grandfather, who supported him whole heartily.
Once he made it safely out of Saffron City, he made his way over to Vermilion City and hopped on the first boat to the Kimchi region, with dreams of becoming a world class Pokémon trainer. There's going to be a lot for him to learn, but for the first time in his life, Regal is looking forward to what happens next.

I am beginning this journal to compile and review the techniques I am learning during my training camp with Master Yamamoto. Hopefully they will serve me well as I continue my journey through the region. Training with the master today has encouraged me to take a fresh look at how each of my Pokémon like to battle on a personal level. I have always felt confident that my commands were quite good, despite being relatively new to Pokémon battles. I am now learning, however, that I need to be more considerate about my teams individual needs. For example, even when they're not as effective, having Nova use his fire type attacks helps to pump him up in battle. He's at his best when fired up, so I'll need to keep his mental condition in mind moving forward.
Training here on the coast has given me a crash course in learning how to better utilize my environment in battle. The smooth sands have been great for Nova to practice his digging technique, and they also add a little more oomph to the wind based moves favored by flying types like Icarus. Speaking of Icarus, his flying technique has improved immensely from training in the strong coastal winds. He definitely seems to have more power behind his attacks than before we began our training. It's been great for his morale, and I'm hoping that it continues even after we're done here.
Sparring with Master Yamamoto has given me a lot to think about in terms of battle technique. While I'm still trying to come up with a style of my own, the master has zero hesitation when it comes to giving commands in battle. He favors powerful techniques to end battles decisively, sometimes ending a battle with a single strike. What's fascinating is how he ensnares his targets for that finishing blow. He constantly disrupts the opponents rhythm with attacks such as Fake Out, Taunt and Detect while powering up his own Pokémon with Focus Energy and Bulk Up. After shutting down the opponents attacks and luring them into close range, the final attack is loosed and that's usually it. I wonder if there's a way I can incorporate some his techniques into my own battles...
My team seems to have become a bit more disciplined since training here under the Masters watchful eye. I like to think that applies to me as well, though I'm still struggling to multitask with my left hand. I'm starting to think I might just be clumsy. In any case, I'm slowly becoming more decisive with my commands, and it seems to be giving the team confidence. We've been practicing some new combinations as well, although they're not yet at the stage where we can use them in battle. We'll have to work hard if we want to reap the benefits later.
Techniques and Combinations
The Aerial Takedown
This maneuver is one for Nova to help him take down aerial targets. Like a lot of my combinations with him, I usually have Nova set up a Smokescreen beforehand so the enemy can't see what we're planning. He uses Fire Pledge to propel himself at the target at high speed before knocking them out of the air with Rock Smash. Nova has recently learned how to use Seismic Toss, so I think we'll be using that moving forward instead for a more powerful blow.
The Underground Takedown
A variant of the previous combination, the underground takedown has Nova use Dig to advance toward the opponent before propelling himself forward using Dragon Rush or Flare Blitz. Using the collision to knock them into the air, he then uses the momentum to finish the target with Seismic Toss. It's basically the same takedown but from a different angle.
The Big Bang
In battles with more than one Pokémon permitted, Magnolia's Powder technique can be a very powerful weapon. Normally, the explosive Powder is sprayed on a target directly to injure them when using fire-type attacks and dissuade them from using such techniques further. In a prolonged battle, however, it can also be spread onto the battlefield itself over time to create a much bigger explosion. It's a powerful attack that can take down most targets, but it comes with a lot of drawbacks. For starters, Magnolia has no way of lighting the Powder on her own, requiring an ally or an unsuspecting enemy to do it for her. Secondly, the resulting explosion is very dangerous and can easily damage my Pokémon as well as the opponent. Finally, it takes time to layer enough Powder for the attack to be effective. If all the conditions are met though, it might just be the most powerful attack in my teams arsenal. I have affectionately nicknamed it "The Big Bang".

Nova:
Nova is the first Pokémon to join my team here in the Kimchi region, and I can already tell that he will be one of my most reliable team members down the road. He's young and struggles to control his stronger fire type attacks, but makes up for it with a wide variety of techniques. His Fire Spin and Dragon Breath attacks are particularly useful for slowing down speedier opponents, and his Smokescreen is also helpful for getting out of tight spots. Outside of combat, Nova is curious, playful and easily excited by new sights. He gives it his all during training and gets along well with the other members of the team. His favorite food is hotdogs and he seems to enjoy battling and getting stronger. I look forward to seeing how he develops.
Nova has changed dramatically since his evolution into Charmeleon. He's had a significant increase in firepower, and his longer tail and claws have given him more to work with in terms of close combat. The most jarring change of all though has actually been his temperament. No longer a child, Nova has become more mature outside of combat and has also become much more eager to battle than before. He still listens to his commands, but I can tell that he's grown more impatient than when he was a Charmander. I'll have to look for a middle ground going forward that will let him battle to his full potential without sacrificing too much control.
Icarus:
Icarus is the first Pokémon I've caught since starting my journey, and was also the first opponent that I fought using Nova. Being from Kanto, I was pleased that my first catch was something I recognized. That familiarity makes battling with Icarus very easy, and his enthusiasm for battle makes even the toughest challenges quite fun. His natural speed makes up for his lack of raw power, and his maneuverability in the air makes it difficult for opponents to land clean hits. My favorite moves to use with him are Steel Wing and Mirror Move. When he's not in battle or playing with Nova, Icarus likes to fly around and stretch his wings. Being more of an early riser than the others, he also gets really into morning training. Sometimes he gets overly enthusiastic though and ends up napping afterwards to recharge his batteries. He enjoys bitter foods the most.
Evolution has blessed Icarus with improved speed and maneuverability as well as a much needed increase in power. These changes have also given him a lot more confidence, giving Icarus a more impressive presence in combat. As a Pidgey, Icarus would often get tired easily and require short breaks after training or combat. Now that he's evolved, it almost seems like Icarus has endless energy. He often goes for long flights to burn energy and is always eager for a new adventure. I'll have to work hard if I want to keep up with him.
Magnolia:
Magnolia is a bit different than the other Pokémon on my team. While the others are more bold and outgoing, this little Cutiefly seems to be a bit on the shy side. Outside of training practice, Magnolia prefers to avoid battle and instead busies herself with gathering pollen and honey. For a Pokémon that doesn't enjoy combat though, her abilities are actually quite impressive. Cutiefly have the rare gift to see and sense auras, which is how they find food. In battle however, Magnolia can use this ability to read her opponents auras in order to avoid incoming attacks. I guess you really can't judge a book by it's cover...
Magnolia has really come out of her shell since her evolution into a Ribombee. She's become a lot more comfortable around the other Pokémon and is confident enough to battle when called upon. She's still quite small, but her attacks definitely pack more of a punch than when she was a Cutiefly. She still prefers gathering food to fighting battles, but now she's learned how to make different kinds of pollen puffs to use in battle. I'm really proud of how far she's come.
Terra:
Terra is the first Pokémon I've raised that wasn't originally my own, having been given to me by Nurse Joy after his previous trainer abandoned him. His fighting style has been largely influenced by his old master, and it's been something of a challenge to break him out of his old routine. It's hard to tell at first glance, but Terra is actually much stronger than he appears. There's no hesitation to battle even the toughest of foes, and his techniques are well polished. It's hard to believe that such an impressive Pokémon was left behind. I hope that one day he can come to think of me as fondly as his old master.
According to the Pokédex, there are three different forms that a Rockruff can take when it evolves into a Lycanroc. Terra's form is known as the Dusk Form, and is not only quite rare, but well-balanced in terms of strength and speed. While he still possesses a calm demeanor outside of combat, in battle Terra has grown a lot more ferocious. Between him and Nova, I've found it much more difficult to keep them in line, to the point where I've had to forbid them from sparring with one another during practices. All in all though, I'm proud to see how comfortable and confident Terra has become around others. I wonder what his old master would say if he saw him now...
Regis:
Regis joined my team after I saved him in the wild from a Pokémon poacher who had severely injured him during a hunt. He may have been a crook, but I have to admit that the man had an eye for Pokémon; Regis is quite the specimen. He has incredible attack power while also being slightly larger than your average Luxio. These traits combined with his naturally protective nature have cemented Regis as an older brother-like figure to the rest of the team. We all know that we can rely on him when the going gets tough. He battles primarily with his claws in battle, electrocuting his opponents with every swipe of his powerful Night Slash attack.

Steel Type Notes:
Steel type Pokémon, on average, have the highest physical Defense among all Pokémon, fully evolved or otherwise. Only a little over seven percent of all Pokémon are steel types, making it the sixth rarest type overall.
A relatively new typing, Steel types were first revealed to the world at large in the Kanjo area of the world under the command of Olivine City Gym Leader Jasmine, who is often credited as one of the first steel type specialists in the history of the Pokémon League. Other famous steel type trainers include Canalave Gym Leader Byron, Kalos Elite Four member Wikstrom, Alola Elite Four member Molayne, and Hoenn League Champion Steven Stone.
Many Steel type Pokémon are attracted to mineral-rich areas and places with strong electromagnetic fields, making caves and mountains their most popular habitats for settling in. Most steel types are neutral to the presence of people and avoid unnecessary confrontation, but some larger steel Pokémon such as Skarmory, Steelix, Aggron and Corviknight can be very aggressive in defending their territory.
In combat, steel types enjoy a wide number of resistances to common attack types, which combined with their naturally tough bodies can make inflicting damage very difficult for their opponents. They boast a natural immunity to poison, with many of their number not requiring respiration and therefore making it difficult to inflict status conditions in general. Their are three Pokémon typings that have proven super effective against steel type Pokémon, and they are Fire, Fighting and Ground.
Common steel type moves include Metal Claw, Metal Sound, Steel Wing, Iron Defense and Iron Tail. There are only four special attacks associated with the steel type, and they all seem to focus on gathering and releasing light energy to blast away opponents. The attacks in question are Mirror Shot, Flash Cannon, Steel Beam, and Doom Desire. Steel type techniques are super effective against Fairy, Ice and Rock type Pokémon and are resisted by Electric, Fire, Steel and Water type Pokémon.
