Chaoscarrier

Takera will find that his acquisition was a good one as the soldiers around him are adorned in similar fashion, however attention is still brought to him. A careful look around will alert him to the differences, the soldiers around him have obviously more worn down and battered armor... your pristine armor marks you as a soldier who has managed to avoid battle for the entire campaign.

As you find yourself in position, the General immediately calls for the entire company to attention. Within moments you find yourself marching forward and up the path that will eventually lead you to the gates of Aren. It'll be three long hours of marching before you reach there but before you even reach the gates you can hear screams of fear and smell the wafting smell of smoke and burning flesh.

The gates are already wide opened as earlier companies had paved the road. Hanging from the gates are the bodies of several guards, their bodies impaled with their own swords at the sternum to pin them to the large structure... as you march past you notice you recognize one of the hanging guards, it was the same man that had spoke on your group's behalf to enter the city.

Your company is drawn to a halt just a little ways into the city. With a raised fist from the general, all the soldiers draw their blades. Punching towards a direction, the company immediately charges and breaks off into multiple sections that each locate a home or business to ransack.

A hand will grab your collar and drag you in the other direction, "Something's not right." Sai announces with the generals voice. Frowning he points towards movement on the far end... from where they stood they could see what looked to be a small group of the city's guard huddled together being attacked. The attackers being volunteer soldiers from before. There was a savageness to their attacks, it was mindless and violent. "Something's definitely not right..."

Takera took a good hard look around him trying to keep his movements to an absolute minimum as he stood in line. It would seem that those around him happened to notice something about him that he was not aware of. It then struck him just ever so suddenly as his eyes glanced across the soldiers from one to the next. Head to toe, every single one of them had something noteable in the way of battle damage to themselves of the gear they wore. Most were plainly dirty, but plenty carried torn capes, dented shields, and so on. Scratches littering the points of impact on various parts of their armor.

As soon as things were to settle, he blended back in as just then the General, aka disguised Sai, had given the order to march. Takera did his best to watch the rest of the warriors very closely without drawing further attention. He took mental note of their mannerisms and their dedicated marching style. Anything habitual to a loyal soldier that would show itself, Takera either mimic'd to fit the situation or stored mentally for possible future use.

Three hours of marching later had Takera really feeling the weight of the armor upon himself. I am really glad that this form regenerates my physical stamina. I might have slipped a while back from the sheer discomfort and strain of marching in this heavy armor. If the course sand shifting under my feet didn't make it difficult enough, the beating the sun would have definitely kicked my arse. Takera thought to himself. It was then a breeze waved over the army and Takera caught the smell of something dreadful. Under the armor he winced for only a moment. "..Decaying.. no, burning.. flesh?" Takera muttered under his breath as he stayed in line with the army.

Takera glanced past the army upon the gates to Aren just ahead. The gates were wide open and casting his eyes upon the impaled bodies, he immediately noticed the specific guard that had taken his group's bribe in the prior day. Takera happened to noticed from the back side of his belt the edges of a familiar brown tied to it. It was potential that perhaps in the chaos, the earlier regiments were looking merely to push the advantage as opposed to raiding the bodies. It was prime for the picking, but unfortunately Takera was in no position to break from the line less he draw suspicion to himself. Takera let the subject fall to the back of his mind as his eyes then gazed inside the gates they were now passing through. Only a little ways into the city from the gate the army came to a halt. Takera followed suit and pulled forth his shield in the same process as unsheathing his sword like the rest of the soldiers when the General raised his arm.

As the men moved, Takera was about to take a step when he felt a pull on the collar of his armor. He was dragged back suddenly, shifting with the pull to see the General, aka disguised Sai. The General announced a feeling of uncertainty. Something was indeed not right. Takera glanced over where the now frowning General had pointed to. Takera's eyes scanned forward past the splitting groups of pillaging soldiers to find, at the far end from them, a very peculiar situation taking place. There were guards huddled into a corner guarding for dear life from some surprisingly rabid / wild people. Takera's eyes widened as he straightened up in the moment. A chill went down his spine as he noticed feint traces of something familiar hanging just barely noticeably in the air around the crazed people. Takera remembered two of the people within the group of savages. They had passed him back at the rebel base on their way into the city.

Leaning over to the General, aka disguised Sai, Takera lowered his voice. "I remember some of those people from the group of volunteers that passed me back at the base. I think I know what it is that is ailing them, and if so we have to be very careful. It's only a sample of what's to come. A case of vials was stolen from us containing the.. essence.. of one of my friends. Not something you want to be exposed to. If he didn't have anything to do with this, the thief must have exposed them somehow." Takera paused a moment gathering his thoughts. "I might be able to do something about their condition. Hold tight." Takera started before slipping back out into the crowd and slowly transitioning towards the far end of the crowd. The soldiers quickly and dutifully ransacked the homes and businesses around them with extreme prejudice. Takera slipped past person after person, paying particular note to the movements of each closest person to him from one soldier to the next. Finally breaking free of the pillagers he found himself on the outskirts of the area where the guards were pinned up. Takera leaned up to take in the sight. It had become a thing of madness. Their volunteers were stock raving mad as they swung wildly at the guard(s) defenses. It was then that Takera caught the muddled growl of a particular mindless volunteer standing closest to him from the gathering. Her head slunk back as she turned to look in Takera's general direction. Takera slipped his sword back into his sheath and held his shield to his side with both hands. Subtly the essence in the air around them began to convert. The slightest traces of miasma in the air faded away. Takera subtly channeled his healing properties in the shield as he held onto it tightly. The volunteer woman broke free from the group, stumbling about wildly. With each step closer to Takera she got the quicker and more violent she became. Her arms flailing wildly. When the crazed volunteer had gotten only two arms length from himself, he flung the shield forward with all his might, smashing her with the flat front of the shield. The impact caused the volunteer launch backwards and up half a foot of the ground. As her feet touched back down with the ground, she crumpled backwards down into the backside of the crowd of wild volunteers. The contact with the shield began a process within her, and now those she touched. The crowd had begun to come alive with wildness seemingly, until their paces all slowed to a crawl. Their appearances reverted slowly back to their former selves.

Not wanting to stick out in the confusion, Takera backed off back into the crowds of pillaging soldiers taking a final glance over the recovering volunteers as they collected themselves. If nothing was left undone, Takera would return to the General, aka disguised Sai.

The disguised Sai raised a brow as he watched Takera carefully. 'His friend's essence.. interesting.' The man would keep mind of this interaction for the future but for now he had to a job to do.

Turning from the scene he strolled to the nearest crowd of soldiers and barked new orders for the men. Pointing towards the currently stunned volunteers and the guards that they had been fighting, Sai drew one of two scimitars that hung from his belt and charged. The battle would climax quickly as the man led the charge, taking head and limbs from bodies with easy strikes, the soldiers rousing the volunteers to help the assault. Soon the entourage would stand on the pile of dead bodies, all belonging to the city's guards.

Raising a bloodied scimitar, Sai jabbed towards the citadel. "Our new target! We take the Citadel in the name of Sha'ik!" The men bellowed before leading the group into the market of the city.

For you to Exit the city you must sneak past the Rebels.

Stealth Check vs 300

Kaito will find himself exiting a tunnel that led from the mines to behind one of the local businesses in the city. A look around will reveal that the city had suffered greatly over the last few hours. Homes and buildings were alight with flames. Mutilated bodies of guards, soldiers, rebels and civilians alike were strewn about every where. War had been brought to the City of Aren...

The city gates stood wide open, dead bodies of guards had been pined to it by their own weapons. Nearby stood a small group of rebels. Their attention was else where for the time being and so long as Kaito didn't make too much noise it would hopefully stay that way.

Upon exiting the maze that was the tunnels of this city, Kaito's mouth would drop. The city of Aren was turned from a beautiful city into a battleground in just few hours time. Bodies littered the ground, buildings were destroyed and burnt down, and smoke filled the air above. Luckily for him, this would be the last time he'd lay eyes on this place, and he wasn't staying here another minute. Kaito scanned the area, he noticed a group of rebels that had their attention elsewhere and he would take advantage of that. Kaito couldn't drag the treasure chest across the ground any longer or he'd draw too much attention his way. His beaten body couldn't take a fight at this point, so he was going to have to avoid a fight at all cost. Doing so, he'd lift the chest and rest it on his right shoulder, weaving in and out of alleyways, houses, and just about anything else he could hide behind. Eventually he'd make his way to the gate, where he'd make a dash for as fast as he could. Kaito was out of this shitter.
