Personality: He loves all melons including cantaloupe, and honeydew, but especially watermelons. He knows a hundred different recipies for them (if not so much how to make/prepare them himself since he tends to be messy) - such as melon sorbet, melon candy, melon soup, melon pudding, melon pie, melon upside-down cake, melon bubble gum, melon taffy, and melon ice cream with melon sauce and melon-flavored sprinkles on top.
However, he's most proud of his accomplishments as a watermelon seed-spitter and can beat any pony in a seed-spitting contest. His favorite pastime is to lounge about in the clouds or fly by and shoot watermelon seeds with speed, distance, and accuracy at ponies below for fun. He likes to practice on moving targets and is a horrible prankster.
Although Mel can't make the melon dishes he loves so much himself, he usually demands said dishes from farming ponies in exchange for helping them water their crops (since pegasai are known to have some amount of control over weather and, thus, rain/clouds/irrigation). He's also not above being bribed with melons to stop spitting seeds at ponies from up high.
