Lucette plopped down on their new white coach, letting out a large sigh of relief, <"Mama, Papa we're finished moving in! Finally!">, she said, her eyes scanning over their new living room again. It was much larger than their apartment back in Paris, and much higher off the ground too. The large windows in their living room gave a fantastic view of the ocean and the city down below, though it was nothing compared to the beauty of the Parisian cityscape. "Lucie, what have I told you about speaking English?" Arthur asked, looking at his daughter as he wiped the kitchen counter one last time. Behind him, Pons giggled as placed crystal wineglasses in the glass cabinets, <"Oh, little Lucie! Having to learn English properly now!"> he cooed, placing two of the wine glasses in the sink.

Lucette frowned at her father and crossed her arms, <"No. I don't want to. French is one of the most popular languages in the world. Why can't the Americans learn to speak French then."> she countered, though she knew that Arthur would eventually have his way. She really should've paid more attention to her English classes, than the teacher himself...

"Lucie. English is a good language to be familiar with as well." Arthur chided as he threw away the cleaning wipe into the garbage bin, and made his way over to the sink to wash the two glasses. "Also, some kids in high school do take French. Maybe you can teach them French." he suggested, leaving the glasses upside down on the dish rack. Pons nodded in agreement, <"He's right Lucie, you'll be the most popular girl in school!">

<"You mean I'd be gawked at for the rest of my life at this school.">, she replied dully, playing with the ends of her bangs. <"What's for dinner tonight anyways?">, she asked, they had just moved in, and they didn't have much food in the fridge, since Pons had decided it was best to let the fridge cool up and go food shopping tomorrow.

"I was thinking we should order something to eat. Like pizza.", Arthur grinned, "Traditional American pizza. you know?" Lucette looked back at Arthur, her expression apprehensive, but Pons twirled around, elated, <"Oh gosh! American pizza! Yes that does sound wonderful! We can be eating in the true American fashion!">, he said, taking out a bottle of wine from the cabinet and pulling out a corkscrew. <"And Lucie honey, back straight, we don't want you to have a hunchback, dearest.">, Lucette immediately straightened out her back, and rearranged her position on the sofa, trying to make herself comfortable with a straight back. Pons gave his daughter a nod of approval, and looked over to Arthur, who pulled out a small flyer for the local pizza store that had been left on their doorstep earlier today. <"What kind of toppings should we get?">, he asked, looking at Lucette then at Pons. Both stared back at him blankly, as both had expected Arthur to make the decision. Arthur stared back at the two expectantly, holding his phone in mid-air. <"...Toppings, anyone? No choices...?">, he asked slowly, taken aback by the sudden silence.

<"Papa...I-I thought you were gonna choose...">, Lucette stammered, getting off the sofa and walking over to the counter to look at the flyer that Arthur had laid out. <"Is American pizza like French pizza? I-I just want some vegetables on it...and olives...">, she looked at Pons, who nodded in agreement, <"You know how Lucie and me have the same tastes, Arthur honey you should choose something you want, we know how much you've missed American pizza.>", Pons cooed, kissing him on the cheek. Arthur grinned, "You guys really mean it?", he looked at them both, "I can order anything I want?", both Lucette and Pons nodded at him, smiling back.

Arthur turned on his phone, dialing the number, putting the flyer back into the drawer. "There's one kind of pizza I've been wanting for a while now.", Arthur said, waiting for the line to pick up on the other end, "Oh, hello? Ah yes, I'd like to order for delivery? Yes, just a large pepperoni pie. And a dozen garlic knots. Yes, that's just it. The address is..."

Pons smiled at Lucette, who smiled back, glad that Arthur was so obviously glad to be back in the States. They didn't realize how homesick Arthur must've been, staying in France for the past ten years, even though he did go back to America for business every now and then. Arthur hung up, letting out a small content sigh. "I didn't realize how much I missed something as small as pizza.", he said, laughing softly.

<"Aw, well welcome home sweetie.">, Pons cooed, wrapping his arms around Arthur's waist, and kissing him on the cheek. Lucette moved around the counter to join in on the hugging, tiptoeing up to kiss Arthur, <"Yes, Papa! America was probably dreadfully boring without you! It missed you!">

<“Mama, Papa, good night! Thank you so much for the birthday dinner!”>, Lucette called from the doorway to her bedroom, a towel wrapped around her head. <”Everything was so wonderful, and the cake was so beautiful too!”>, she gushed, one hand on the doorknob as she pushed her door open.

”Of course, Lucie.”, Arthur called from the bathroom, ”We’re glad that you had fun! It only comes once a year, you know.”, he laughed. <”Anything for my beautiful daughter!”>, Pons chimed in from the kitchen, <”You deserve only the best, my little muffin.”>, he called out, the sound of running water and the clanging of dishes drowning out his voice. <”But, go to sleep now dearest, it’s getting late!>”

Lucette nodded her head, <”Alright, alright. Good night!”>, she said one last time before entering her room.

”Good night!” both men replied back, though Arthur’s reply was mumbled as he was brushing his teeth.

Lucette slipped the towel off her head as she closed her door shut, tipping her head forward to rub at her damp hair with the towel. She would blow-dry her hair, but she had tried out an oil treatment for her hair, and the instructions had said not to blow-dry hair when the oil was applied (she had gotten Arthur to read it for her, and double-checked with him twice just in case). It was supposed to make her hair softer than I already was, as well as giving a healthy sheen to her hair; though Lucette realized that it really wouldn’t make much of a noticeable difference to anyone since she always kept her hair up in a bun. Perhaps she would wear her hair down when she got back to school or at least in a high pony-tail – something that would make people notice. She hung her towel on her clothing hook stand, and turned on the little lamp on her bedside table. She moved over the pile of present boxes on her bed, making room so she could sit. She smiled; she had gotten a great many presents this year, little things like hair accessories from her friends at school, little make-up palettes from Pons’ drag queen sisters, gift cards and money from some of Arthur’s coworkers she had known since she was a little girl in France, and even a wonderful cashmere scarf from her friends back in Paris (though how much did shipping cost? As well as the price of the scarf!)!

Of course the most important present was the one from her parents, which was in the biggest box of the bunch; it was her very own Chanel bag, in its famous quilted leather pattern. The bag was hers and just for her. She gingerly took the bag out of its box and placed it on her lap, running her fingers across the smooth beige leather. She resisted the urge to squeal with delight, since her wishes were finally answered! Lucette knew that a bag like this cost quite an amount of money, especially here in the States were items like this were exported. The teen still didn’t know how to thank her parents properly, because she really was lucky to receive something like this.

She twisted the clasp of the bag slowly opening it to take out to the crumpled up tissue paper, spreading it out slowly, then folding it into a small, neat square, and placed it into the box. And at the bottom, there was a small plastic bag that contained the bag’s strap. Taking care not to scratch the inner walls of the bag with her fingernails, she picked it up, ripping the plastic open and hearing the chain rope slither onto her bed with a clink. Her smile widened, making a small squeal of glee as she picking up the cold metal chain and hooked it onto the ends of her bag. Once she was done, she held up the bag by the straps, the moonlight from her window illuminating the outline of the bag creating what Lucette thought to be a beautiful silhouette. She was tempted to take a picture so she could upload it to her fashion blog, but her camera was too far away, and Lucette didn’t know if she could create the same exact positioning as it was in now. She placed the bag down on her bed slowly, moving to transfer her boxes to her floor, but stopped when she saw a small feline shadow at her windowsill.

Lucette got up, staring at the figure curiously, wondering how a cat would’ve even gotten up to the 24th floor of the apartment, especially since her room didn’t have a balcony. <”Ah…what are you doing up here cat? You’ll get hurt.”>, she whispered, opening her window to let the little creature in, in the case it would end up falling 20 stories. The creature entered her room, immediately jumping up onto her desk, its pink eyes staring at her.

<”Y-you’re not a cat…”?, she said bluntly, having half a mind to pick up the white creature and throw it back out onto the windowsill, <”I’m not even sure if you’re an animal.”>, she really should’ve kept her window shut and gone to bed.

”I’m Kyuubey!”, it replied, its eyes and mouth unmoving. The only movement from the creature was its white fluffy tail, swaying back and forth.
”I grant a wish when you make a contract with me.”, the creature started to groom itself like a cat, as Lucette stood motionlessly in shock. She definitely had to be dreaming, but if she was dreaming, then her bag wouldn’t be real either. She resisted the urge to scream, cause then her parents would come running into her room and they wouldn’t be happy to see that Lucette had been harboring some sort of animal in her room. The girl took a deep breath, pulling out her swivel chair to sit; feeling the need to sit down before her legs gave out on her.

”You…talk…”, she said dumbly in her accented English, ”Y-you are er-- talking in English?” she stuttered, moving her chair close to the bed so she could have her purse close to her, though she didn’t make any move back to her desk. The creature stared back at Lucette, expressionless, it was quite creepy actually, ”Well of course I can talk!” it replied, ”If you make a contract with me, I’ll grant you a wish.”, the creature repeated.

Lucette blinked, wondering as to why a cat of all things would go around granting wishes. It didn’t make sense at all. Was this some sort of practical joke her friends were playing on her late at night? Some kind of weird birthday joke? The creature was cute, she had to admit, but nothing was made sense right now. ”Wishes. You are granting…wishes?”, she asked, ”Anything? I can ask for anything and you will give it to me?”, when she said it out loud, the prospect seemed very appealing to her. Not to mention the fact that it was her birthday, she deserved to get anything she wanted today. She tapped a finger to her chin, thinking, though she wondered how trustworthy this creature was.

”S-so…er—you are some kind of...”, darn! What was the word? She scooted to her desk, picking up a small pocket dictionary, still keeping her distance from the animal and flipped through the pages rapidly, ”…You are…a ‘jen-nie’?”, how was this word even pronounced? She would also look up ‘contract’, but she didn’t even know how it was spelled. She looked back at Kyuubey, who merely tilted his head, ”Yeah, something like that! I can grant anything you want if you make a contract with me.”

”Anything?”, she said again, the concept taking its time to sink in her head. How did the story of the genie go? Something about a being that would grant three wishes, and there was something that involved a lamp…but there was no lamp here. The creature didn’t even look like a person! Weren’t genies supposed to be people? Or ghosts at least? She couldn’t be bothered to figure out the whole story now, though. ”C-could you then…get me clothes? Or things I like?” Lucette asked, an idea forming in her head, and smiled deviously despite herself.

”Anything.”

”S-so…I am wanting—er, Chanel’s fashion…er…all the things I want, like-like the bags, and the clothes, and the shoes…”, she trailed off, wondering if she had worded her wish right. She ran the words over in her head again, really wishing she had paid more attention in her English classes.

”I can do that!”, Kyuubey said and jumped down from the desk and moved closer to Lucette, who quickly scooted away from him.

”Really?”, she gasped, her past suspicions about the whole situation dissipating. It was her birthday! It only made sense she got more items that would match her brand new bag! And it would be all for free too! ”I-I don’t have to pay for any of this right?” she quickly added, since she didn’t want her parents becoming bankrupt from all of these new items she would be receiving soon. Kyuubey shook his head, his eyes on Lucette.

She cleared her throat, ”Okay then, little cat…thing, I wish to have everything from Chanel. Everything I am possibly wanting, I will get.” she fiddled with the chain straps of her bag and stared at him expectantly, a little fearful of what was going to happen next.

”Then the contract is made!”
