Kenjiro split the caramel sauce into two pans and dropped a few drops of food dye to one of the pans, making it darker. He then carefully poured it into a pipette bag. The old man prepared a festive looking plate, by making a neat even layer of the light caramel sauce. "Don't even think about it." He scolded as his companion sniffed the caramel sauce. "Time for the hard part." Kenjiro gingerly turned the flan mold over above the plate, carefully tapping the side as he set it down. "Easy now." The flan made a sucking noise as it came out of the pan, perfect.
Before his companion could take a bite, he was thumped in the nose."It hasn't been decorated yet, so don't just relax for now." He took the lighter caramel sauce and made an even layer on the top. He then took the dark sauce and drew a spiderweb pattern on the side of the flan and plate. "This is turning out nicely." He smirked before resuming his artwork. After a few moments, he let out a satisfied sigh. "This is turning out nicely." A few moments more he set the pipette down before picking his companion up. "Look, I drew you." There was a Dedenne drawn in dark caramel color.

He blinked and ducked back, a bit spooked by the clatter of the picture, but grinned, otherwise unfazed with his focus still on Chima. "That was awesome! Heh! Yeah I think you could definitely use that move in a contest! Maybe combine it, too! I think it'd do well in cute contests though... What other moves do you use?" he asked, and looked back to Gekkit once he returned to the area as well, after essentially hiding the evidence of his brothers carelessness. Jay quirked his head as he listened, but smiled at her remark on her two pokemon. "Wasn' even aware've 'em, t'be honest. Have a feelin' they were hangin' with PJ 'n Rawly, 'n I just met up with 'im, so," he reassured her, chuckling a bit, "Why? They usually troublemakers?" Koda looked curiously back at Arezu, his head tilting to the side, tuft of fur hanging into his eyes a bit with his headphones hanging loosely on his neck. He smiled after a moment, lifting a paw to get her attention, before speaking up, telepathically. "Hi! I'm Koda!" he greeted, his eyes glowing a bit as the mix of voices reached out to Arezu. Jay turned his head some, then clicked his tongue again, to get a better idea of where he was going, exactly.

Jay lifted his head. "Wondered 'bout that. Heard her enter with the others," he replied, smiling, "But I heard... one'ver yer companions yellin' at her t'get outta the way, too." The amused smile on his face lingered as they moved in, and he turned his head as the hallway opened up to a room. Just as he was trying to get an impression of it, a loud clang battered his eardrums, and he ducked down, lifting a hand up to his ear with a grimace. "Arceus!" he muttered, shaking his head some. That was loud. He straightened up, frowning at the following sounds, and turned his head as the girl moved away.
"What was that?" he asked, a bit apprehensive, his brow knotted and a frown on his face. He was definitely going to have a hard time following all of this. He turned his head briefly at the sound of Arezu's companion, again, and then back to the girl as she read it off. He raised his eyebrows. "A key, huh? What're the clues?" he asked, moving around, clicking his tongue to get a listen. "Y'wanna help, Lee?" he asked, turning to the little bug on his shoulder, and lifting his hand up to her. She chittiered and crawled onto his hand, then wandered off once he leaned down to lower her to the floor, looking around curiously. He knew he wouldn't exactly be much help.

Arezu had to guess that PJ and Rawly were the two standing near Chima and Gekkit. "Honestly, I'm not sure." She said. They at least seemed pretty well behaved whenever their older siblings were around. Really, she thought, returning Koda's gaze but thinking of her own wispard and his lunine brother, It's the older ones that are the troublemakers. And then a voice appeared in her head, and there was a slight delay before she jumped backwards at it. "What. What?" Her eyes darted from Koda to Jay, but Jay seemed completely nonchalant. And Koda was staring at her so intently, it must be him... "Was that... you?" Could... could Flurry talk to her too? And what the heck was up with the voice?

Oh, s**t, Arezu forgot to mention Hakuren and Cecily. She rubbed the back of her neck nervously, wondering if this guy would pick up on it or not. "Uh, yeah, that was Hakuren. He's- ""-getting tired of waiting to start this scavenger hunt thing!" Hakuren called out. He was already making his way to one a bookcase to test out pulling on every single book for a secret passage to trigger. Arezu rolled her eyes. "Yeah, that's Hakuren. He's with Cecily. You probably didn't notice her because she's floating."
After she read the note aloud, Arezu watched Jay for a moment. The way he was clicking, was it some kind of echolocation thing. Just like a bat. She repressed shiver that thought gave her. He seems fine, but... I should probably be doing a better job of explaining stuff. As she fished around the clock for another clue, she wondered what would've happened if the poor guy was in here on his own. Did any of his pokemon read for him?
"There's not much to the letter. It just says we have to find the key, and the only thing after that is, 'Read me carefully, so you know the rules, though once you've read me once you'll need to read again.' Doesn't seem like a clue or anyth-""GOT IT!" Hakuren yelled. He pulled something bright red out from behind one of the books he'd been testing.
Ah, 'read again' was referring to the bookcase. Okay...
Arezu walked over, and got the object from Hakuren. "Huh, it kind of looks like a puzzel piece. It says... 'one of five' on it. I think we need to find four more." She turned it over in her hands, but there weren't any more clues there. Maybe that was enough to point them in the right direction? "Here, do you want to hold it?" she asked Jay.

"Hey mister, what are yo-" Suddenly the older man pulled a spoon and scooped up a generous bite of the well made flan. "What the f-" Kenjiro was silenced by the elderly man raising a single finger while thoroughly enjoy the flan. "Very good very good. Second Place. Congratulations Mr..." "Count... Count Dracula." "Ah well yes, enjoy your prize." The elder man walked away, leaving Kenjiro with a prize loosely in his hand. "Geeze, there are a lot of cards walking around this festival." He turned around to his companion licking the plate the flan formerly occupied. The old man stared in cold silence for a moment as he watched his now sticky companion. "Well time for another bath."

While Vandal left to explore the fairgrounds Scarlett attempted to play some of the games herself with little success. Her ticket earnings were mediocre at best and it was extremely frustrating—not because she was doing so badly, but because she knew she could do better. Surprisingly Scarlett wasn't a sore loser as her basketball game with Zak could attest. If she played her best and was simply outmatched then a defeat was expected and acceptable, but after playing arcade games with MD all last night, Scarlett thought she would be better at these things, not worse. That was what got on her nerves. She was off, and she could feel it. What exactly had thrown her off, she wasn't sure. Maybe it was the residual guilt she felt for being unable to give Vandal any credit despite doing everything she had asked of him, or maybe her thoughts had drifted to Zak more often than she would have liked.
To make matters worse her gameplay continued to deteriorate when she noticed that she was being followed. At first she assumed it was merely coincidence that the black-haired man happened to move from game to game alongside her—after all, many others were doing the same—but as time went on she got a distinct impression that this man was watching her. Hell, he didn't even appear to be paying any attention to the games like others who happened to be coming to the same area as her. Annoyance only served to earn her one or two tickets here or there, and she declined to take any of these meager earnings.
Fed up with her lousy gameplay and her strangely incompetent tail who seemed so obvious about it that it was as if he wanted her to know he was there, Scarlett made her way calmly away from the apple bob station and veered around a corner, hoping to shake off her pursuer and then duck into the nearby haunted house. She had heard that they were giving out prizes for making it through all three levels, and that was something that Scarlett was at least confident that she could do. It would possibly help clear her mind as well.

He tilted his head curiously at Gekkit at the comment, though, then nodded slightly, his enthusiasm dying down to a more grounded calmness. "Yeah... me too. I really need to work on changing my moveset so I can really, properly compete in a contest," he commented, then grinned as an idea hit him, "Hey! D'you know what kind you'd wanna do? There's, um, five types-- beauty, cute, smart, tough, and cool!" he explained, eager to keep the conversation. Seriously, this pup could talk about contests for days.

Jay quirked an eyebrow at that response. "They relatively new, then?" he asked, though as he said it, he realized another alternative-- she could have just not used them much. After all, he had plenty of pokemon that he'd had for a long while, but was still yet to use. He really needed to remedy that at some point, too... His brow furrowed as he listened to... Arezu? She sounded confused, though, but it took him a second to piece together why, and a smile crossed his face when he did. She must not have encountered a wispard before... or at least, not one that could talk. Or, maybe not even a psychic type before?
Koda blinked, his head tilting to the side as he lowered his paw back to the ground. "... Yes?" he replied back curiously, with a small, questioning growl accompanying the ghostly response. Was that not normal? Was he not supposed to talk to others? Jay had never seemed to mind...
He glanced over as a ghost pokemon swept through the room, spreading and icy chill, his eyes flashing. Jay shivered, frowned, and listened around, but ghosts... weren't something he could pick up on. Koda, on the other hand, seemed more than happy to hunt it down-- but it vanished back through a wall before he could.

Jay shook off the cold from the ghost and smiled as Arezu continued to introduce others, chuckling a bit. "'N Haruken's... a zorua?" he deduced. The echo he got was... a little odd, but it seemed to suggest a smaller pokemon, for the most part, and yet, it could talk. And the inconsistent echo fit what he usually got when he'd encountered that sort of pokemon. He knew they had some kind of... illusion ability, but that was also a mostly visual effect, so it never quite had the same result with him. Still, there seemed to be something extra to what they did, that always made the echo a little off when they were 'disguised'.
He casually moved around, stepping around objects, though he kept his steps careful, so that even if his toe hit something, it was light, and he could guide his foot along it to step around it, rather than trip. "Hmm..." He was going to guess books, or ask if there were any more letters, but it seemed that Arezu's companion had them covered, and he smiled lightly. "Puzzel piece, huh? Well, there any way that's gonna let us move forward, or does it seem like we oughta keep searchin' this place fer more?" he asked. He paused at the question, then smiled, almost quizzically, and held a hand out for her to give it to him, "Sure, why not."

As interesting as it was to reach into mystery pumpkins and try to smash a squash, Ducky couldn't help but feel like it wasn't enough. He didn't even bother trying the games again, instead watching as Lana reached into what appeared to be peanut butter, clean off her hands before trying her hand at a squash as well. Luckily, Lana suggested that they tried something else, motivating Ducky to decide for them. Lucina hadn't known Dakota for too long but she did notice he still didn't seem to be quite himself, silence and lack of enthusiasm sneaking back up on him. It was still a bit concerning, but he seemed to jump right back into it a bit after Lana suggested trying a Haunted House.
"Yeah! That sounds like it can be fun~ Let's go!" Ducky exclaimed, taking Lana by the hand and leading the way to the nearest haunted house. To him, it hardly seemed scary at all. Lucina, however, was reluctant to follow, only doing so to stay by Ducky's side. "Huh... I don't see what's so scary about this place so far." Ducky commented.
Daiki grinned at the lopunny's reply, but she soon took interest in introducing herself to Katsu. The Zoroark was admittedly a bit jealous, shooting Katsu a glare as if to tell him to not pull any stunts. The glare had gone right over the Solgaleo's head - he didn't understand what that was even supposed to mean. Katsu bowed his head in Cynthia's direction after she gave him her name. "It is a pleasure to meet you, Cynthia." he rumbled politely. Daiki had quickly taken to one of the games nearby where you throw balls to knock over cups, flinging a ball extra hard and missing the cups in frustration.

Not that they were in any real hurry to get to where they were going unlike their Blaziken companion, although they hoped to introduce Zoey to their newfound legendary companion as soon as they found her. Only problem was that with how large the festival grounds were, she could be anywhere at any time. In the meantime, though, there were still games to play and plenty more tickets to earn. Zeraora tensed up as they navigated their way through the hustle and bustle of other festival patrons, not exactly liking being surrounded by so many strangers all at once. The main reason he had gone into the cornfield was to hide out and escape from the suffocating closeness of the many other people in the main festival grounds, although in hindsight that probably had been a terrible idea the more he thought about it. Maybe he would’ve been able to make it out on his own if given enough time, but after his unexpected and untimely rough encounter with the Hakamo-o it could’ve been ages before he would have been able to find even just the first exit. Thankfully, he was able to keep himself under control since he was in pretty good company, even just being in crowded places like this didn’t seem quite as panic-inducing as long as he stuck with his two companions. Jarl Reidar grabbed a good handful of complementary Pokemon food from one of the vendors on the way, figuring that their Zeraora friend must surely be hungry after being lost in the corn maze for Arceus knows how long.
”Thank you,”the electric cat legendary hummed gratefully, accepting the proffered food with a nod and starting to munch away while they headed over to the festival games. Even if it was just standard, run of the mill stuff, some food in his belly would definitely help him recover a bit and give back some of his energy. They headed for the squash smash game first, Jarl Reidar wanting to take another crack at smashing the super-sized pumpkin this time around after not having much luck with the Totem challenge.”Migh’ wanna duck, lad!”the Pangoro cautioned as he grabbed the hammer and hefted it up over his shoulder, the warning giving the Zeraora enough time to maneuver himself so that he didn’t get accidentally whacked on the head with it. The legendary watched in curiosity and awe as the Pangoro swung it down upon the squash with as much force as he could put into the blow, though unfortunately it seemed to not even put a dent in the pumpkin. Jarl didn’t seem all that upset by it, however, the Pangoro grinning as he accepted the single ticket the game master gave him as a consolation prize.”Those things seem abnormally tough… You gave a very admirable effort, however, I probably would’ve struggled to even lift the hammer alone,”the Zeraora spoke up, attempting to give a bit of positive support to his large companion as he gently patted his back.”Heh, ain’t nothin’ by it, there’s always another time I can take a crack at it. Thanks fer th’ kind words, though, laddie~”the Pangoro chipped in happily, it would certainly take a lot more than losing at a game to really dampen his spirits.
They then made their way over to the pumpkin search game, the Zeraora watching closely as Lukas jumped down from his place on Jarl Reidar’s head and made his way into the patch to fetch a pumpkin.”How exactly does this work? Is there a point to these pumpkins in particular as opposed to the smash game?”the legendary asked, genuinely curious to know how some of these games were meant to be played just as the Litten returned with a pumpkin clenched in his teeth.”The humans hide bags of tickets inside these ones, and whatever amount you get seems to be completely randomized between them all,”Lukas explained as Jarl Reidar reached inside the squash,”It can be as little as two tickets to as many as twenty, though six tickets certainly isn’t too bad by any means.”The Litten nodded in approval as he eyed the bag of six tickets the Pangoro pulled out from the squash. They had yet to get the maximum number of tickets that could be found for this game, but they had been pretty lucky to reap some pretty decent rewards for it so far.”Would you like to try a game or two, Zeraora? There’s still two more left we can play for now, apparently there’s some sort of odd cooldown period before the games can be played again,”Lukas offered politely as he leapt back up onto Jarl’s shoulder, figuring that it was only fair that they let their new friend try some out for himself,”So that leaves the web crawl and the apple bobbing for now, any of those sound good to you?”Zeraora hummed thoughtfully, he admittedly wouldn’t mind trying out a few of the games, they certainly seemed rather… interesting just from watching Jarl Reidar and Lukas play them so far. He wasn’t entirely sure what either the ‘web crawl’ or ‘apple bobbing’ games entailed, though he supposed that his companions wouldn’t mind explaining anything he was still uncertain about.”I think I’d like to try at least one game, though I’m not entirely sure which one… The apple bobbing one sounds pretty interesting, however,”he suggested with a nod, ears perked up in curiosity and excitement. He had to admit that the bobbing game sounded a bit more manageable than the web crawl game, especially since he was still pretty injured, though he wanted to get a bit of a better idea of what said games were like before making a decision for sure.】☆ ☆

If he had to hazard a guess, that would be the web crawl game… From the looks of it, the participants tried to make it as far as they could before they stumbled and fell off.”I think I’ll pass on this one for now… I don’t want to accidentally aggravate my wounds before we can get them properly tended to,”he reasoned, figuring that it would be more fun to try this one when he wasn’t worrying about possibly getting more hurt than he already was.”Understandable, I’ll have another go at this one then,”Lukas said with a small grin and a shrug, jumping down off of Jarl Reidar and moving to take up his spot. Zeraora watched as the Litten started making his way across the rope, tensing up a bit when it started to rattle and bounce and just about tossed the little cat off. Thankfully, Lukas was able to keep his balance, and kept pushing onwards. Much to the legendary’s awe, the Litten was actually able to make it more than halfway across, only three feet from the other side before the rope jerked around so violently that he wasn’t able to regain his footing in time and was sent tumbling off.”Are you alright, Lukas?”the Zeraora asked, unable to help but be very concerned for his companion since that fall seemed pretty rough. Thankfully, the Litten didn’t seem to be any worse for wear as he accepted the seven tickets and headed back over to them.”Just fine, it was more surprising than anything really,”Lukas assured nonchalantly, handing the tickets to Jarl Reidar before clambering back up to the Pangoro’s shoulder next to Zeraora,”Thanks, though.”
Last, but certainly not least for the time being, was the apple bobbing game, Zeraora glancing curiously as he noticed several other patrons and Pokemon stood around large barrels filled with water with several apples floating around on the surface.”Basically what you do is try to grab as many apples as you can in one minute using only your mouth. The more apples you get, the more tickets you earn,”Lukas offered helpfully, nodding towards Zeraora with a toothy smile,”Believe me, it’s a lot harder than it seems. Just be careful to not accidentally fall in, the water’s more or less ice cold.”The Litten suppressed a grimace as he recalled his own accident the first time he tried the apple bobbing game, not that he would willingly admit it. That was certainly a mistake he had no intention of making again. Zeraora nodded in understanding, thinking he more or less got the basics down on how to play. Carefully climbing down off of Jarl Reidar’s back, the electric cat hobbled his way over to one of the barrels, eyeing the floating apples scattered about on the surface of the water. So he just had to use his mouth, right? Sounded easy enough… The Zeraora made a quick lunge for an apple that was closest to him, though it seemed he had slightly misjudged the distance as his muzzle just barely touched it, causing the apple to spin as he ended up pushing it in the opposite direction. Damn… not what he wanted. He needed to actually focus on this and not be quite as hasty, maybe that’s what he was doing wrong here. Taking a deep breath, he steadied himself as he eyed the other apples, deciding to take a more careful approach to this, although it was hard considering the time limit and he couldn’t just dally around for too long. His new technique proved to be pretty effective in the end, however, as he managed to snag two apples before he was timed out. Holding the pair of fruit aloft like some kind of grand trophy he had won with a huge grin plastered on his face, the Zeraora accepted the four tickets he was given as he returned to his companions with a bit more of a bounce to his step.”Heh, very nicely done, lad!”Jarl Reidar praised cheerfully, taking the tickets and adding them to their growing stash,”Two out o’ three is certainly very good fer a firs’ try~”Zeraora’s confidence swelled more at the praise, even though it was just a mundane festival game he couldn’t help but feel quite accomplished.”Beginner’s luck,”Lukas chipped in with a light chuckle, his tone more joking than sarcastic as he waved his tail amiably,”But still, that was pretty well done, much better than my first time.”The legendary rolled his eyes at the ‘beginner’s luck’ remark, but was more than glad to hear his companion’s praise for his efforts as he climbed back up onto the Pangoro’s back.
