Short Summary of their plotline: Shyam is an angeni who has Fallen from grace after falling in love with a mortal. Stripped of his memories and cursed with chains that cause him constant agony, he stumbles across Amaya, who has only recently come to grips with her conflicting bloodlust urges, and desperately wants to be accepted. A kinship is borne of shared pain and need, and both begin to accept themselves in the presence of the other. Amaya's past, however, has recently risen up to haunt her once again, and the children born to the two of them have inherited Shyam's curse, as well as Amaya's bloodlust. The opportunities for redemption that both have thought lost to them will soon arise, but the cost may prove too high.

What are their parents' personalities?
Mother: Amaya is not your average or stereotypical kalona. Despite her dominant kalona traits, she prefers to embrace her unicorn heritage, having lived with her unicorn mother all her life, and never having met her kalona father. While she is somewhat soft-spoken, she is by no means meek or timid; rather, she is a very proud individual- unless confronted with her recent transgressions. Regret is a companion that has continued to dog her steps, and loneliness is something she has come to accept over the course of her life, having been feared for what she is and shunned for what she is not. Previously, she would have confessed that her past experiences with relationships had made her wary of such attachments- at perhaps at one time this was true- but her newfound bond with Shyam is everything she had ever dreamed of having, and denied herself of hoping.
Father: Shyam is not your typical soquili. If his physical appearance is a bit unnerving, with his spiral horns and molting wings, one only has to begin communicating with the stallion to realize something is very amiss. He is creature who can enjoy intelligent conversation, and is quick to call out an idiot or a fool. But at the same rate, he is . . . evil. Corrupt. Twisted. He has a strong belief that every good heart can be broken, that every soul has the possibility of being tainted. He has no fear of death, and regrets nothing. Shyam has a fondness for soquili flesh, and enjoys teasing his prey. . . in some cases, seducing it. Of course, he isn't a mindless killer and he harbors no prejudice against race, age or gender. He's an equal opportunity manipulator, a b*****d equally to one and all. Of course not everyone falls prey to his games and corruption. . . . sometimes all he wants is a good conversation, to play the part of someone normal and even kind. One should never trust his intentions, for his mind is shattered and his spirit condemned.

Rise From the Ashes - After her shameful loss of control and the subsequent attack her bloodlust wrought upon the herd that took her in, an injured Amaya encounters Shyam, the Fallen, for the first time. Instead of the hostile encounter that they both expect, they come to find kindred spirits in each other.
Catch Me When I Fall - Unable to forget the short time she spent with a soul that she could swear had resonated with her own, Amaya finds herself repaying the debt that she owes Shyam for his care. An altercation with a family of winds leaves him at the mercy of gravity, but Amaya does not seem inclined to relinquish his company just yet.
Oh What Tangled Webs We Weave - Slowly recovering from the events of Shyam's fall and Amaya's rescue, everything grinds to a halt as the scent of blood taints the air and stirs a dark hunger. The event she had feared from the beginning slowly comes to fruition for Amaya as her kalona bloodlust overcomes her with Shyam far too near.
On Sleepless Roads the Sleepless Go - Having (unintentionally) abandoned the fragile ground that they stood on in her panic to reach her wayward mother, Amaya returns from her absence to find Shyam waiting for her.
Of Leaving Yesterday - Finally content with their lives and healing mutually left wounds, Amaya and Shyam's peace is interrupted when a shadow from Amaya's past returns at last- her half-brother, long thought dead, with news of her mother's demise.

What are their family dynamics? Amaya and Shyam are both solitary creatures barring their bond with one another, so their children will grow up with just their parents and siblings, instead of a herd. Amaya fears, above all else, that any child of hers faces the danger of inheriting her inability to control her kalona instincts- she has only just begun to learn to inhibit them herself, and would never wish the circumstances of her own childhood upon another. This fear has only been exacerbated since the birth of their first three children- all three of whom have inherited Shyam's curse, and one who struggles with the very same bloodlust Amaya has finally escaped. Their family is deeply loved, but broken.

Traditions: In Amaya's family: Healers, when they come of age, are most often given hair and tail adornments, while Protectors earn their mask and armor.
Herd/Family Culture: Amaya was born to a long, proud line of pure unicorns, a Clan that was divided into two classes: Healer and Protector. Those with an aptitude for healing were trained by the elders at a young age, while the others were trained in harsh physical regimens to be the defenders of the Healers. Her mother, a talented Healer, was the daughter of the head Protector. Despite the unfavorable circumstances regarding the rumors of her birth- after all, her father was a kalona- Amaya's mother raised her with nothing but love and kindness, shielding her as best she could from the cruelty of the Clan. Amaya had an older half-brother, born of her mother, named Kaitou, who was a young prodigy of the Protectors and her grandfather's favorite. He was the youngest in generations to earn his mask, and young Amaya dreamed of one day earning her mask as well and protecting her mother, even though her status among the Clan made that impossible. Her own mask and armor was a parting gift from her mother, symbolic of her own belief in her daughter rather than the official title of the Clan. The Clan itself is bigoted and xenophobic, and Amaya strives to leave all of the meager teachings she gained from there behind her.
Religious Beliefs: Shyam was once a soldier of Heaven, but after being corrupted by his obsession with Nimue, he was cast out by the spirits, and made to live a new life in sin on Earth. He is still a firm believer in the gods above, but regards them with contempt, rather than the love and devotion he once had for them. Amaya, oblivious to the exact circumstances of Shyam's fall from grace, only thanks the spirits that her Fallen angel was sent to her, though she does not display the religious fanaticism that her unicorn lineage held in such high regard.

Additional Info: The curses passed on from Shyam to his children are thought to be evidence of his eternal punishment for Falling from heaven, and each one has a different curse that plagues them. Mariko, painful spikes that never cease to bleed, and an unending lust for blood, despite her mother's more peaceful nature. Hisako, a terrible degenerative, flesh-eating bacteria that has left parts of her body exposed to the bone. Iki'ryo, whose flaming mane causes him constant agony, and the familiar chains that burn his skin. Both parents fear that the curse will continue if the bloodline is continued, and question the morality of going forth. Amaya, however, desperately wants to be validated in her love for her family, and Shyam can deny her nothing.
