Joshua was frantic. The boy had been humming to himself, watching his mother stir a cake mix.. Then, trouble started. Thali started to rub her eyes, and yawn. The boy could only watch as she feel to the floor.

"Dad! Something's wrong with Mom!" Josh ran into the living room, to find that the same thing had happened to his father. The man was at his computer desk, head resting against the keyboard.

He ran to the phone and dialed the first number that popped into his head. Nattie's.
Stasia had been minding her own business at home. Nataya was taking a nap upstairs, and 'Zuba was watching the twins as they played out in the back yard. And Stasia sat on the back porch, reading. Ah, such a peaceful day....no fighting, no yelling, no Ginger-jumping-and-getting-hurt; what could be better than this?

That's when the phone rang. Stasia got up, stretching a bit before slowly heading into the house. She plucked the phone off the wall, leaning against the kitchen counter. "Hello?" she greeted, hoping this wasn't work-related. If she got called to come in one more time because Anoni didn't show up...
Joshua was relieved when he heard Stasia's voice on the otherside of the phone. He wiped his eyes on his sleeve, sniffled, and said, "Nattie's Mom?" He sniffled again. "My parents are dead."
Figures. Today was going so well; something horrible had to happen. "What do you mean they're dead? How?" she asked, managing to keep her tone calm. They seemed fine and healthy last time she'd seen them...so what could have possibly happened?
Josh had to clear his throat before continuing. Something kept getting lodged in there and making it hard for him to speak. "I don't know how." He said. "Mom was baking, and dad was working on his new novel--and.. now they won't wake up." He went over to shake Thali to prove his point--to himself.
"Look, I'll be over there as soon as I can, alright?" the girl said, sighing. Damn, there went her day of relaxing. She'd have to call Matth to watch the kidlets. "Wait for me, okay?"
Joshua nodded, and realized she couldn't see him. "Okay. Thank you, Nattie's Mom." He said, hanging up the phone. All there was for him to do now was sit and wait.
About ten minutes later, Stasia was walking up the front steps. She knocked on the door. "Josh?" she called out, waiting for the door to be opened.
Josh went to the door, and opened it. "Hi," he said with a not-so-hidden-sniffle. "You can come in." He led her inside.
Stasia stepped in. "Alright, where are they?" she asked, looking down at the boy. She put a hand on his shoulder, trying to comfort him somewhat.
Joshua led Stasia to the kitchen, where his mother was. "See, she was making a cake.." He pointed to the cake batter sitting on the counter. "Then she fell... and didn't get up."
Stasia knelt beside the unconcious woman, checking her vitals. "Well, she's not dead." she said, feeling the pulse in the woman's wrist. "Other than that....I have no idea." She frowned, shaking Thali's shoulder. "Wake up~" she said, looking down at her.
Thali twitched, muttered something about 'Mom, gimme ten more minutes', but didn't wake up.

"She's asleep?" Josh asked, blinking. Then why hadn't she responded when he tried to wake her up? "So.. she's okay?"
Stasia nodded, standing up and starting to fill a glass of water at the sink. "Yup, looks like it." she said, nodding. "She seems to be just fine." She turned the tap off before returning to the sleeping Thali. She looked at her for a moment before emptying the cup's contents onto the sleeping elf.
Joshua didn't have enough time to warn Stasia. If his mother really was asleep, it wasn't a good idea to wake her up. Too late.

Thali sat up with a jolt, managing to look both extremely annoyed and confused. She looked around, before glaring at Stasia. "What was that for?" She demanded.
Stasia just offered an impish-looking smile. "You were asleep; it worried Josh. I was just showing him that you were okay." she said, her tone sounding just ever-so innocent.
Thali glared for a moment, before looking at Josh. "I'm sorry I worried you." She took another look around. "Why am I in here?"
Stasia shrugged. "How should I know? I can only think of two possible reasons." She tapped her chin, thinking. "Thali, now be honest.....have you been drinking?" She crossed her arms, assuming the stern-parent stance.
Thali used her hands to help her stand up, before glaring at the halfling. "Drinking?" She repeated, her brows furrowing in irritation. "I don't drink."

Joshua giggled. "She does drink though!" He informed Stasia with a nod. "I saw her-- she was drinking orange juice."
Stasia merely blinked at the glare. What? It was a good, honest question. She then sighed. "Alright then, Thali. My mind only leaves one other alternative." She paused, smirking. "Okay, where's your stash? Consider this an intervention." Oh, she highly doubted that Thali did drugs, but it'd be good for a couple laughs to act like she did.
Now Thali was confused. "Stash? Of what?" She hadn't been on Gaia long enough to understand this concept.

But clearly, her son had. "Mom doesn't have that kind of thing." He told Stasia with a stern look on his face. Why was Stasia treating his mom like she'd done something bad?
Stasia let out little giggle, reaching out to ruffle Josh's hair. "I know, kid. I'm just joshin' with her." she said, pun intended. She then looked to Thali, smiling. "Don't worry about it. Now come on; let's go checking on the other snoozer in the house."
