Nicknames: Joshy, Josh, Kenny. Depends on who's talking to him.
Personality: He has become social after making several friends, but at times has a relapse. He is a very kind little boy. He tends to be a little gullible, naturally believing what people tell him. Around home, he is playful and eager to please. Typically a happy child. He seems to be fairly protective of those he cares about. He will willingly go up against his fears if he believes he is protecting someone. He likes to put on the face that he's neat outside of home, making sure he's dressed neatly and his hair is pulled back-- the people he meets should see his bedroom. They weren't kiding when they said musicians were sloppy people. Lately he has become stubborn, he probably picked this up from his mother, and more than a little vain. He hates going to people for help. Thali believes there's a certain fae he'll go to for help--but he won't admit it.
He tries to get along with everyone, and often expects to do so. When he doesn't, he tends to get a little upset. He still hasn't gotten through the stage where he believes life is a rose garden, and everything ought to be good. He's forgotten that roses have thorns. Speaking of roses, Joshua has lately become a romantic. Especially when it comes to a certain sugar-plum fairy. When he's around her, he become nervous, and stumbles over his words. Generally he is very articulate, and very polite. He might become angry if he doesn't fully understand something, like an arguement that he doesn't think is just. He does not like to argue (which the exception of arguements with his siblings, but those are just for fun); he will try everyway possible to get out of an arguement. If he feels he is stuck, he may offer the person he is arguing with something; a flower, a present, anything just to be on friendly terms with them.
Likes: Playing games with his mother, cats, his auntie. He loves playing make-believe with his friends. He loves Alvin and the Chipmunks, thanks to his mother. He loves music in general, really, and wants to learn to play guitar. He seems to have a taste for the fairy tale, especially Disney's. He doesn't seem to care for Brother's Grimm.
Dislikes: Monsters, being alone, the dark, mean people, being scolded, silence.
Hobbies: Pretending, protecting, music, fencing, magic (later on in plot, thanks to Matthias).

 Aroura Hallos- A good friend of the family's. Joshua has warmed up to her quite quickly. Thali believes that he gets along with her because they have a similar personality. Vate- Joshua's uncle. He's good at throwing snowballs. Josh doesn't know what to think about him yet. Zemel- Joshua's best friend. Offically. Joshua gets along very easily with him. Ginger- A friend. Joshua doesn't know what to think of her yet, but she seems nice enough. Nataya- A friend...? Ginger introduced them. Joshua likes her very much, he won't admit that to anyone. I want a new beginning,
one without an end. Thali was sitting in her living room, trying to find something mildly interesting on the television. It was unusual for her to watch tv, but with Ben gone, she had quickly become bored. She flipped through the cartoon channels before pausing on Spongebob Squarepants. She smiled slightly as she heard a knock at the door. Maybe Ben was home early? He hadn't told her where he was going. She left the couch, and hurried to the door. Ben was positively beaming. "I have a surprise for you," He told her, pulling out papers from his pocket. Thali's eyes widened. "An adoption form?" She asked, surprised. She'd never thought Ben was one to like children, but maybe... Ben couldn't help but smile at her reaction. "Think of it as an early Christmas present," he said, and seeing her look added, "for the both of us." Thali hesitated, and took the form. Ben frowned. "I thought this is what you wanted." He said. Thali took his hand and led him inside where she hugged him. "Yes!" She said happily, "I want this more than anything!" Ben grinned, he knew his wife well. They started to fill out the form together, the couple couldn't wait to meet their future child. It didn't matter what it looked like, or if it was a boy or girl. They'd love it just the same.

Don't be afraid
Don't shy away
We'll never leave you. When Thali learned that there was children up for adoption, she was ecstatic. However, it was only when Ben suggested that they meet them before deciding anything that she considered it. So it was settled. They would meet the children in the Lab's nursery. Thali had never head of the Sisters of the White Cloth, but apparently Ben had. He assured her that they would help them arrange the adoption. Thali had been impatient, and had forgotten to mention to her husband that she'd been shopping. "Do you think they'll like these?" She asked, holding up a green plush dragon and a blue velveteen rabbit. The dragon had a golden stomach, purple spines on it's back, and purple wings. Ben didn't know what to say. He didn't know how old the children were, nor what their interests were. "Do you think they'll like us?" He asked. In that one question, he voiced the fears of both. Thali was the first to speak. "Any child would love you," She reassured him. Ben was a little relieved, but his wife was a bit biased, and he knew it. He didn't think Thali would need the reassurance. She'd always been good with children. When Thali turned away from him, he knew something was bothering her. "Are you worried?" He asked. He knew she was, but he also knew she wouldn't willingly tell him. He frowned at her silence. "The children here love you," He told her, "So much more will our child love you." Thali nodded, and turned to face him. "I can't help it," she said. "I've wanted this for so long.." Ben wrapped his arms around her. "I know. I promise, if this child doesn't work out, we'll try for another one." Thali frowned at him. After a long discussion, the couple drove to the Lab. Ben said he'd only been there once before, and never gone in. Neither of them knew what to expect. They got out of the car and headed for the enterance. As soon as they entered, a nurse rushed over to them asking if they wanted to know about cabbages or children. Thali's eyes widened, "Cabbages?" She repeated, surprised. The nurse went on to explain that these weren't ordinary cabbages. They contained children, and that in a few days a baby would emerge. Ben hadn't expected this. He hadn't planned on recieving a baby, and certianly not a cabbage. But Thali had already agreed to go see the cabbages. He had no choice but to follow the nurse. The nurse lead them to the garden, and continued to explain. "Many of these already have children inside of them," She told them. "I favor this one." Thali bent down to the one the nurse had pointed out. "It smells like candy canes!" She said, standing up in surprise. Curious, Ben did the same. His eyebrows reached his hairline as he looked at the nurse. Thali smiled, "I think we've found our baby." She told him.

Like water to seed From the time they brought the cabbage home, Thali was spending most of her time taking care of it. Ben thought this was unnecessary, but he was too tactful to say anything. He didn't know, maybe singing to the plant was a good idea. He sighed and sat on the couch. Even on his day off he seemed to get less attention than he was used to. He wasn't a selfish man, but this was too much at once. He decided to check on Thali, who was in the kitchen. She was humming a song he knew vaguely knew as Shine as she watered it. She looked up as she heard Ben. "I was thinking about names," she told him. Ben wasn't surprised, leave it to his wife to want to name a plant. Then he remembered. "What names?" He asked, curious. Thali smiled, "Well, we don't know if it's a girl or a boy. So I was thinking Joshua for a boy, and Gabriella for a girl." Ben should have known, his wife was fond of formal names. "Joshua's a nice name," He said, not mentioning what he thought about Gabriella. He was too tactful. Thali didn't notice his silence. "You like it?" She asked. Ben nodded. "When did the nurse say it would open?" He asked. "In a couple days." She told him. Something in her voice told her she wanted it to be sooner. He'd always known she was impatient. As for Ben, he could wait.
