The trees really were talking to him.
He almost stepped on this one.
It took him a moment to clue in that this little critter was talking to him, his head tilting quickly to the side, eyes widening a bit. "'Oly s**t, you can talk!" He called out, before it told him about something in his mouth, making him frown a little.
"Will it be worth my while?" He asked out loud, before crouching down to the little arbor. Being rewarded with a wild smile, he was offered up a little red fragment, which he plucked from the tree.
"Thank you, friend!"

If you help it out, search around the tree for glasses! Roll 1d4. If you roll a 4 you succeed in finding its glasses. It is super excited as you hand it back. "Thank you, oh my goodness, thank you indeed. Here, have this." It gives you a fragment and insists on giving you a hug, but the hug is very prickly and not very nice at all. +1 Fragment.
KingREX was not surprised that another shrub was playing around, trying to act like an important sprout that had many tall tree things to do. Letting out a deep sigh, it was time to scold another piece of flora about etiquette for lost items and generally making it feel bad enough to droop.
The end result was worth it, making another tree happy. Its hug however was not. "You are hurting me with your branches." he said stiffly, trying to shimmy out from the embrace and move on.

2: The second tree is a wide tree and doesn't look too happy to see you. It crosses its arms. "I don't think so, the last people who were here were terribly mean about it. Terribly, terribly mean and it just won't do anymore. If you come any closer I will have to resort to violence I mean it! Don't come any closer!"

He had returned to this little creature, and he couldn't help but chuckle a little as he wandered up to it, leaning down to pet the tree softly. He thought it was completely adorable, with it's constant happiness and riddle-like questions.
"I know what you have in your mouth, I hope you'll share again." He asked, only to be awarded once again with a fragment, which he pocketed happily.

It was impossible to keep himself from laughing. Beat up by trees? Oh jeeze. How much of a newbie was she? Or maybe her luck just royally sucked. That was a high possibility. < Sirens_Envy: Newbie misfortune, maybe? You'll get better as time goes on. > Probably. Unless she'd done something to offend the gaming and dream gods that he didn't know about.
Which, as he watched her skip towards him--ok, that was kinda cute, he'll fess up to that--he found himself staring blankly at the fact she... tripped. Outright tripped. Over a root. Right into the swinging range of a rather nasty looking willow. Partridge did the only thing he could do in that situation. He laughed. Hooted, doubled over. Tears were stinging his eyes. At her expense. He likely would have kept laughing, barely able to breath, had she not cried out for assistance. So, at least somewhat capable of manners, he trotted over to where the Doormouse had fallen, trying to duck away from the swinging leaves. Grabbing hold of her arms, he tried to pull her backwards. Away from the danger.

In his mirth and attempt to get her away from harm's way, he hadn't noticed the slender tree beside him. Given how ordinary it looked, he supposed that wasn't much of a shock. It was so... plain! Until it began to speak. Then Partridge blinked up at it, cocking his head somewhat to the side in his bent pose from having tried to drag Envy. The tree confused him, to say the least, talking about some Dilly and Milly and Nilly.
Nilly was taller than Dilly. Slender was taller than Nilly. Dilly was shorter than Milly. Slender was shorter than Dilly-- wait what?
But the tree had said only two friends. Why was it listing three? "You... are shorter than Dilly?" Was that the answer? He couldn't think of anything else. When the tree scoffed at his answer though, Partridge made a dismayed sound. "How am I wrong? I just answered based off what you told me!" He scowled heavily, trying to run back through the riddle in his head. Nothing... made sense!

Lean and lengthy, Partridge_in_a_Skulltree is a young man with blue-white hair shaved along the right side of his head, with the rest of his hair left to flop to the left. Blue-rimmed glasses sit at the end of his nose, the same pale blue as his eyes. A Mad Hatter to the end, his trademark coat and hat are both a dark blue. Underneath can be seen a tight white shirt, loose black pants, and crisscrossing brown belts.
She had to admit, this forest was impressive. Never in her life had she seen so many different colored trees that seemed to entwine with one another. It was so fascinating. It had a life of it's own almost. You could feel the trees breathing as their branches creaked and leaves rustled.
So enamored with her surroundings IWantYerSoul just about ran smack dab into the sign. Stopping a mere inch away from it, she blinked. Haha well that would have been embarrassing if anyone had been watching. It was oddly quite for such a place as this.
And then the sign began to speak. No lips moved. Just a voice that filled the silence. The exclamation point atop the post bounced and glowed. She gave the sign a few testing pokes with a finger as she listened to it speak.
Ah yes! She would get to take a closer look at some of these trees.
Giving the sign a quick salute, IWantYerSoul moved off towards the trees with a bounce in her step. Her bunny ears flip flopping against the top of her head.

The first tree she came upon seemed pretty normal for a place like this. As she reached out to touch it, the tree groaned and bent in half to look at her with sleepy, hollow eyes.
It was only just a little bit creepy.
The tree groaned about not being ready. Did trees really need to prepare for company? IWantYerSoul pondered this. Trees were always in one spot so shouldn't they have always been ready?
Either way, the tree shooed her away for a bit. But when she came back to see if it was finally ready the whole darn thing had disappeared! Well that was great. How was she suppose to find trees that disappeared?

The second tree was just about as strange as the first. It was broken and bent. And....sobbing? She wasn't entirely sure that trees could sob. At least none of the ones she had encountered before ever sobbed.
Apparently it had lost it's glasses. But she didn't want to spend all day searching for a tree's glasses. I mean, it didn't really have eyes to begin with so why would it need glasses.
She apologized to the tree and moved on.

Well. That was peculiar.
Being the kind who had to know exactly what the ******** was up, Allan? couldn't help but desire to follow the voice.
The next one seemed quite pleasant. As far as trees being pleasant could be. But it's question was kind of odd. Was it a riddle of sorts?
She mumbled to herself and counted on her fingers a couple of times. Several minutes passed and the tree seemed to get a sour look on it's face that she was taking so long. It crossed it's arms over it's trunk with a hmph. Snapping her out of her concentration.
"Uhhhh...as tall as a tree?" That was really the only honest answer she could give. She had never been good at visual measuring. Of course, the tree told her that was incorrect and for her guess she received nothing but a gloating look from it.

A tiny, cute tree soon draw her attention. It was all smiles. Much better than most of the other trees she had encountered so far. She bent at the waist, placing her hands on her knees with an equally as wide smile.
It was hiding something and wanted her to guess. Well ok then.
"Is it something special and shiny? I like shiny things."
Sticking out it's tongue, a sparkly fragment glittered within. "Oh that is shiny." Reaching into it's mouth she removed the fragment and slipped it into a pouch.

Again she came upon the sobbing tree. This time she felt a little bit sorry for it now. It was wailing uncontrollably. Jack, someone make it stop!
"Ok ok, I'll try and help you find your glasses. Just please stop crying. I think you are upsetting the other trees."
The tree snorted a bit of sap that had begun to run out of it's nose. IWantYerSoul cringed lightly. Not that sap was boogers, just....it was kind of gross and the snort sounded flemmy.

Sadly, try as she might she just couldn't find the tree's lost glasses. Now it would never stop crying. She had spent at least ten minutes trying to find these darn things but to no avail.
Again she apologized to the tree that she was not a better finder and wished them luck in finding someone else who was.
As she moved along down the path she could still hear the tree sobbing. It was time to put some distance between her and that tree. Yep.

Was it even possible, KingREX was not sure as he marveled at the set of pearly white chompers on top of the tree. "My what large teeth you have." he commented lightly, wary of the smile. It was not natural and left him with an unsettling feeling in the pit of his stomach.
And was gone, out of sight but its riddles remained. He wasn't sure if it counted, but he was speaking to something and there was a tree there. "Guess that'll do it."
