XXXThe woman's hug was welcoming as always. Truly one of the purest ways to console the feeble heart of the young huntress, and something that Yui appreciated down to her very core. And without a doubt, it seemed that snake faunus always gave the best hugs. At least, much better than the few bird faunus that she received hugs from before. Yui would reap every moment of it, no matter how short-lived it was. "It's made from the heart, so it's perfect in every way." It was almost odd to hear what Yui claimed as an aspect of perfection, given her upbringing. She was raised by a woman who was revered as a perfect entity in every aspect. Beauty, skill, intellect, leadership. A woman who intended for Yui to follow in her footsteps in perfect sync, but, those plans had derailed in its entirety. In regards to that, Yui was in the exact position to state what she thought was perfect, after being subjected to the ideology of it her entire life. Imperfection was perfection because it held originality and unique traits that couldn't be found anywhere else. Her brother, her aunt, herself, her professor, and this cake crafted from the heart.
A smile would slither across the woman's lips again, a joyous tone resonating in her words. It was uplifting in every way and brought a smile to Yui's tearstained cheeks. Not that Kail could see it, of course, but a smile was just as easily conveyed in one's voice as it was physically. "You've already done so much, I couldn't ask more." She said softly, not wanting Kail to feel like she had to do anymore like finding a candle or singing a tune. Honestly, though, Yui wouldn't even know what to do in that position. It was always something she saw in media and read in books, but she wouldn't even know how to react if someone sang a song for her. "I wouldn't even know the words to follow, heh." She'd say with a halfhearted chuckle, her smile remaining true on her face as she gave the hug one last squeeze before breaking away. Tugging her sleeve to cover her scaley, scarred hand, she'd wipe the wetness away from her cheeks. First, she'd look towards the cake Kail had made, then back at her teacher. ... Then, curiosity struck her. It seemed like a dumb question, but... ".. Can snakes eat cake? Because... I'm not sure if we'll be able to eat it all ourselves." Her curiosity held an almost childlike innocence, something that sparked through on rare occasions. More often than not, it was in the presence of animals like that of snakes or horses. Her right hand remained on Kail's shoulder, but gave her a very gentle nudge to show she was ready to move back towards her desk, and the cake.

Kail Kail was surprised when Yui called her cake perfect. Kail knew it wouldn't be, but at least it would taste good. Yui hadn't been completely honest with her about her past, but the teacher didn't mind. Her being a good person and teacher was paying attention to the things that she could. She might not have her sense of sight, but she had her nose, and her sensing, and right now, Yui's blue flame was calm, and happy. Her little Phoenix was growing, and burning brighter than anything around it.
Kail would smiling. She said that she had done so much for her, but Kail didn't think so. Once she let go, Kail would find herself around her desk, pulling out a small wrapped gift. "Well, there is one more thing. I asked the store to gift wrap it for me." The package itself was about book size. It was wrapped in blue paper, and they added a pink ribbon to it.
Then Yui would mention that they would have to feed some of the cake to the snakes. It was probably meant as a joke though. "Snakes are carnivores, and I have them on a strict time schedule for food." Oh, there was a lot of cake! She thought it was the right amount... Oh well. "If we don't finish it, you can either bring some to your team, or we can bring some to the Cafeteria staff, since they did help me make it!" It would probably be a bad thing if it didn't taste good...but hey, she tried
XXXNow that Kail had stepped away from Yui completely, Yui would make sure that her face was clear of any tears she had missed prior. Yui was known for her strength, determination, and capability, but she was also very emotionally weak when it came to personal development and connections. .. Or perhaps it was just with those who managed to get past those walls that her mother had worked so hard to build around her heart. She would watch as Kail circled around her desk, always finding herself impressed with how easily Kail navigated her surroundings without sight. Then again, being raised her entire life without sight, it was hard to imagine that the woman wouldn't have grown accustomed to the state of her environment. Though Kail wouldn't see it, Yui would blink in an obvious mixture of confusion and surprise when Kail returned to her with an object that flashed blue and pink. "A gift..? Professor, you didn't have to... Thank you. This is all.. So wonderful." Yui truly wasn't sure what to say, but she spoke in a touching tone. Even without seeing Yui's softened expression, she'd surely be able to tell by the sound of her voice that Kail had managed to melt her heart again and again. The wrapping paper would crinkle softly as Yui gently grasped the gift, turning it over in her hands to look at the pink bow. It brought a gentle smile to her lips.
Her attention was swiftly pulled away, though, as she hugged the book-shaped gift against her chest. "Then we'll have to ensure their next meal is special to makeup for the cake." She'd say softly with an innocent smile. It was an odd turn of events, where Yui took a stab at a joke and someone responded in a serious tone. On any other day, it would be the other way around. .. Then again, Yui was opening up, she was developing, and she was beginning to overcome many of her social obstacles. At the mention of her team, her gaze seemed to hang. She still hadn't been able to really get ahold of her team since her recovery, so... She was wondering if they'd even be interested. Did she really want to bring further attention about her birthday to herself? Perhaps she could pin it on a different occasion... ".. Both of those are delightful ideas. I'm sure the Cafeteria staff would appreciate the gesture. We'll just have to see how much is leftover... Did they give you a knife to cut it with?" She'd inquire, though it seemed like much too obvious of a question. Surely most students would have some means of a sharp object on them, but Yui's manner of a weapon was a little more complicated than cold steel. ... Sure, she could make a knife, but that'd involve charring the poor cake Kail had slaved over to make. .. "Oh!" Yui would say suddenly, her pale hues darting back down to the gift she held in her arms. "Should I open it now, Professor?" .. Most people wanted their gifts to open in front of them, of course. But she meant more in regards to opening the gift or cutting the cake first. If Kail had encouraged it, Yui would begin gently tugging at the slabs of tape that hugged the object. She personally had the attention to detail and preference about keeping the wrapping intact, more so touched that it was wrapped in the first place. Though, even if the paper had gotten shredded, she'd at the very least keep the bow intact. If Kail wanted to eat the cake first, then Yui would wait and tuck the gift under her armpit.
