As the baton has passed and the tides do flow there is ice flowing up from down below! The waters churn colder and colder the further she goes but faster and faster she tries to go. But no worries for her this is a breeze! She is used to waters like these! Refreshed is how she feels as the cooler current caress her as she swims faster and faster to the next way point. Though she was used to the cold it was still a tough sprint. She hugged corners as best she could to push herself off for an extra boost of speed to cover that extra bit of distance where she could. She hoped it would be enough as she reached the next waypoint to pass the baton to the next racer waiting!
Edited in more of a strategy, hope that is acceptable

The cold water was perfect for the Narwale, and she moved quickly, though steadily, to make it out of the frigid water as soon as she could.

The Narwhale mare darted through the chilly waters, doing her utmost to stay warm. The distance was not far, but that distance was deceptive - the cold made it more of a challenge than it looked.

The narwhal fiercely sprinted through the water. The water was cold, even for her! Moving quickly was her best hope for staying warm and making it through this leg of the journey.

----- The Narwhale spins off from the Scarlet Tidestallion with some graceful and speedy moves feeling at home in the chilly waters. Using it's horn as a sensing tool it manages to get through the obstacles without fail, only clipping it's tail briefly on one.
Little Narwhale waited patiently for her teammate, the scarlet tidestallion. These chill waters didn't bother her at all. The tidestallion approached and the pass off was made! Narwhale settled in for the long swim. She had trained for this and she wouldn't let her team down no matter what!

She easily cruised through the frigid water, using her horn to break through the thin crust of ice when she needed to breath. While others might struggle to survive in this unforgiving ice course, she thrived and kept her eyes on the goal.

As she gripped the baton in her jaw, the little Narwhale worried. She worried about a lot of things. Was she fast enough for this? Was she skilled enough? Unlike her teammate- the scarlet tidestallion- so sure and confident in himself, she felt that the others may have made a mistake in letting her join. She wasn't anything special when it came to sports and games. In fact, she was downright bad at them. But this...she had always secretly wanted to try. So, against her better judgement, she allowed herself to be convinced to join in. Now it was her turn to navigate the chilly waters to the next teammate. Would she be able to make it? She hoped so. Just keep her eye on the prize. Keep her speed even and block out the cold. Think warm thoughts. Simple...right? Drawing in a deep breath, she let it out through her nose then took off, envisioning sun-warmed waters and little tropical fishes. Nope...not cold at all.

She was shorter with thick fins, but what was more she was used to these caves. While no one was exactly immune to the whims of the fickle tide caves, there were ways to be more fit to swim it and many ways that were part technique or experience that helped you to roll with the tide. She was a fickle mistress, but the only one who had ever interested her.
She darted behind covers to take a break from the waves, then darted forward as instinct and strength allowed. She was born for this. Several times she was pushed back by the current or forced to stop her forward flight and give in to the tides for awhile. It's what you did to survive.
And survive she had.
Having successfully navigated the caves, the scarlet tidestallion passes the "torch," as it were, off to another of his teammates. The water has turned chilly here, deeper and farther from the reef; it's best not to tarry long. Roll 6 20-sided dice to get warmed up and under way to the next stop - and you'd better be prepared for a test of your endurance. While the journey might not be long, you'll need to move fast enough to keep yourself warm. If any of your dice results in a 1, 2, 3, or 4, we regret to inform you that your journey has been cut short.

SUMMARY FOR DAY 2
HELLOOOOO EVERYBODY! It seems that yesterday separated the prepared from the rest of the pack. We had to pull some of the less well-suited from the water with the help of a few stronger, enduring referees along the course - I'm happy to see that everyone eventually made it home safely, even if they may need a good sunbath to warm back up!
Speed bonuses have been included in the scores this time, as everyone eligible to play yesterday chose the Narwhale, which was correct! Here is a listing of the total scores, as of midnight:

She might be shivering when she reaches you, but the narwhale made it through the chilly weather. Next, an obstacle for the brain has been devised - a puzzle that will unlock only with a certain combination of movements. To get to the next obstacle, you will need to roll 4 12-sided dice. If any result in a 3, we regret to inform you that your journey has been cut short. If you do not roll a three, a mechanism opens a narrow channel in the face of a rock wall. This channel will lead you to the next obstacle.
As a clue to help you choose your contender and gain their speed bonus, we offer you the following: Elegant, rumored to be of Atlantis - I capture all imaginations. Proud and kind and keen of mind, choose me to help the puzzle unwind.
As a reminder, a short strategy response is required with all entries! Contestants, if you are still in the running, ensure that your posts have this - you are welcome to go back and edit them in if they are missing. If you do not do this, your score will be docked 25 points for each missing response at the end of the game. After all, part of the race is figuring out how to navigate it! We look forward to reading what you come up with!
