Fishy Breakfast

Incanthis gave a little whistle as he stepped into the stables, looking into the stall that Junior was staying in. He gave the green beast a smile before reaching into the stall, scratching him on the nose, "Hello there, Junior. Getting antsy, huh?" He could tell by the way that he was shifting in place, tail swishing, that he was happy to see him. He was the sort that was always at Incanthis's side, so being stuck in the stables was likely something that the beast was unhappy with, "Don't worry, we are going to be heading out soon so you don't have to worry about being alone for too much longer." He actually felt bad about it, that he was being left along. If it weren't for the fact that he was sharing a room with Abie and Issaly he would probably quite lonely himself... and he worried that leaving Junior out here meant that he was lonely.

"Once we get going you will be able to be at my side again, buddy." He said before he reached into the pack at his side, digging out the fish that were meant to be given to the snaptrotters after the little kittens had gotten into them. He gave the first of the first over to Junior along with a kiss on his snout, "I will let you out as soon as I am able, I promise." While the down time was good for the snaptrotters because it meant that they could get their rest he knew it wasn't something they were used to. They normally got more room and more companions to play with, something that wasn't doable in such a small stable aside from the whelps since they were small enough to all fit in one stall themselves.

Reaching out he gave Junior another pat on the head and said, "I will be back soon. You just relax and try to enjoy youRself, we will be heading out soon." He moved to the next stable tossing a piece of fish to Laqui, another piece to Lithe, and so on until he reached the stall where the four babies were running around. He looked in on them, then gave a smile. The little green was following the wall, likely looking for an escape route, the onyx and albino appeared as though they were arguing as per always with the pair, and the blind baby appeared to just be listening in to the grumbling pair. Giving a bit of a chuckle he stepped carefully inside and knelt down, "Alright, babies, how about we take a break from all of our excitement and have some fish?"

It was something that had the group turning toward him before they all came scrambling his way. He broken up the fish into tiny bits, handing it out to each of them piece by piece. He got a few nips here and there from them being too excited but nothing that he couldn't take care of with the magic that he had at his disposal. Giving a smile he said, "Once you're done with your morning snack you can get back to playing while I go and see about feeding the others the fish that is meant for them." He was actually looking forward to just that. He liked doing thing for others because it made him feel useful, which made him feel good. He wanted to make sure that everyone, both earthling and snaptrotter alike, were fed and ready to go when the time came. It was early yet so he wasn't sure if his traveling companions were even awake yet. He supposed he would see when he brought them their meal. After giving all the snaptrotters one last glance, making sure they were all present and happy, he headed on his way back to the inn once more. The morning had been quite a busy and exciting one already and it was just starting.

Growth Solo: A Fiery Flower

(( At a border town in Oba Incanthis reminisces about everything that has brought him to where he currently is in life, as well as where he is going. A lot has happened since his arrival in Oba and a lot of changes that came about before he was ready to go to Jauhar. There is just one last thing that he wants to take care of before he's really ready to leave and that is the mark that he bares on his shoulder. It took some thinking but he finally figured out a way to allow the mark to grow along with him and become something beautiful instead of something ugly thus severing the last shackle that holds him to his past. ))

They weren't far off at the moment from the border that was between Oba and Tale. They were in the last village that lay on the Oban side and once they hit Tale they were going to be halfway to their destination, that being Jahuar. He was a excited to the point that his heart was racing just thinking about returning to Jauhar. He wondered what he should do first once he was home. Should he try to find more members of his family outside of Issaly? Should he go visit the graves of his parents and sister? Should he go where the family had once lived in the past? He really wasn't sure where he should start since it had been so long since he'd been in Jauhar. He'd been just a little prentice when he'd been taken away after all and now he was a grown man when he was returning. He should have gone back much earlier but he'd been a coward plain and simple. Something that Abie and his family had been helping him to get passed, allowing him to move forward again instead of just wanting to hide himself away from the world.

He wanted nothing more these days then to start to do things that he bad been afraid to do in the past. Getting closer to Abie, going on walks with Junior, winning the rights to raise the albino whelp over many others that had wanted him, and otherwise trying to be more then just a shadow. He'd even been doing daring things like walking outside without a hood on for instance, allowing himself to enjoy the warmth of the sun on his skin instead of hiding beneath the cloth from those that might see them. He'd even been able to really open up to the Obans in general instead of seeing them all as the threat that his past masters had been. The one thing he regretted was not ever having the chance to have a sit down with Muata, to talk to him as an equal, and clear the air between them.

Muata was far from the worst of his masters but he was definitely the one that had the most impact in his life since he'd been with him the longest. Not to mention that he'd been the one that had left a real and literal mark on him, one that still stood out against his skin, and at times still caused him problems. He knew the reasoning behind the pain his mark caused, that it was more mental then physical. When his emotions got the best of him, when he felt fluster or afraid, it felt as though his brand was burning all over again just as it had when it was first put on his skin. It was a mark he bore upon his person and the last shackle that held him to Muata despite the fact that he had been free of the man's hold for some time.

The way he'd escaped from the man and then hid himself away from him behind the sword of Lord Laofay instead of looking after himself at first. He doubted he could thank the man enough, not for all he'd done for him over the years that he'd stayed with them. He meant to try though, to do all that he could for Abie and the young man's brood of snaptrotters. It wasn't just because he wanted to pay him back though, it was more then that, it was the love that he felt for the younger man... though he wondered if he should tell him as much. He was sure that if he told Abie what he was thinking that he would likely be told that he didn't have to do anything, that he didn't owe him anything, but he felt differently. He meant to do what he could regardless, even if it was simple things such as making breakfast or tending and maintaining the health of their snaptrotters.

It was something the two of them were able to share, raising snaptrotters instead of children, though Abie had far more then he did. A whole army of them it felt like compared to the two that Incanthis had which were Junior and Achack, both of whom he loved dearly. Junior was especially wonderful, having been the first one that Incanthis had opened up to when he first left Muata, something he felt allowed him to prepare to later open up to Abie and the rest of his family. In turn that allowed him to then open up to Issaly when his baby brother appeared before him not that long ago. Achack on the other hand reminded Incanthis of himself in a way, a creature that been treated as an object, one that people had been arguing over, all of them wanting him for selfish reasons. It was why he wanted him so much, to keep him safe, to let him grow up happy and among other snaptrotters and owners that would take care of him. He knew it was maybe a little silly to see himself in a little whelp but he had and it had caused him to act outside of his normal, timid nature to get the whelp for himself.

It had been a daring moment that left him a bit exhausted but it had been worth it. It had allowed him to save the little whelp as Abie had saved him, it had been a good thing, and now he knew Achack would be able to grow up secure and happy... even if the little whelp did like to argue a lot with Abie's onyx colored whelp. The two of them butted heads a lot but he knew that they got along well enough because it never went passed hissing and grumbling, never had the two of them bitten or scratched, meaning it was just bravado. They would be fast friends when they grew up or so he liked to believe.

Incanthis opened his eyes slowly, looking around the area around him, taking in the details of the village. It was a small place but a nice place, it was quiet right now, allowing him to think about the past as well as the future, and allowed him to really come to terms with everything that had happened that lead to this trip they were all on.

It wouldn't be much longer now and they would be leaving this village and with it, Oba. It was something that was exciting and a bit nerve wracking, but he finally felt as though he was really ready for this trip. Even putting aside the fact that there was no true closure with Muata. Really the only thing that he could think of that he would change would be the mark upon his shoulder, something that he'd see gone from his person if possible. It was a shackle that he didn't care for, as well as something he felt marred him as a person. Without the mark he felt that his heart would feel lighter and that he'd be able to truly feel that final bond himself himself and Muata break. Getting rid of something like that though... he felt it almost impossible. He'd tried healing magic in the past and that hadn't really done much for him save for lightening the burn scar to a degree.

So how did one get rid of such a mark? As he thought on the conundrum he started forward, walking down the road that was before him. He wanted to think on it, to consider his options, and after a time it started to come to him. A mark such as the one he bore wasn't something that he could just erase and forget, not easily. It was something that he'd need to accept and then allow to do as he'd done, that being to grow and become something more. Instead of the mark of his master it could be something else, something beautiful. He just needed to find someone who was able to do such work. Finding someone who could do tattoo work was one thing, that he felt was easy, but to find someone who did the sort of work he was looking for was a bit different.

Pulling himself together and gathering his courage though Incanthis set to asking around. Talking to so many Obans, seeking them out, and striking up conversations... it was something that he wouldn't have been able to do even a short time ago. It took more courage then he felt that he had in the past, but now it was among the things he was actually capable of. It was all a part of who he was becoming, even if that growth had been a bit on the stunted side to begin with. He was a grown man but he felt he still had room to grow in ways other then just physical ways. Mentally, emotionally, he still had much room for improvement, but he felt that he'd get there so long as he kept striving to become more. He had the means and opportunity, he just had to continue to take the necessary steps!

It took him some time, being lead from place to place, but in time he was able to find what he was looking for. It was a simple shop, not busy in the least bit but how popular was such body art as the sort that Incanthis was looking for? The man within was a bit on the intimidating side and it took a bit of doing for Incanthis to find his words but given the chance to do so he explained what it was that he needed, about the mark that he had, what it represented, and how he wanted the mark to evolve and become more then it was. Instead of a shackle that marred his skin he wanted it to become something beautiful.

It was strange to let the man look the mark over as he'd much preferred to cover it in the past. Not only see it but to inspect it closely, to touch it, and to help him to figure out what to do with it. A more time and the man had set to work creating a new piece that would be used to change the mark upon his skin. It would go from a brand marking him as a slave and instead it would become a beautiful flower. Incanthis watched as the man went to work on the piece, shaping the metal until it became the design that they had discussed, and then he watched as the metal was then put into a fire to heat up. It was strange, unlike the first time he'd gone through this he wasn't terrified, but instead he was oddly at peace. He knew it was going to hurt like nobody's business but in the end it was going to be something amazing, something that would release that last bit of himself that was bound to Oba, and it would make his departure that much smoother in his mind.

After watching the metal within the fire as it turned a brighter color Incanthis was instructed to sit down so that they could get things underway. After the branding was done he would rest within the shop for a while, until the pain had passed and he was able to use his powers to heal the wound. Then and only then would the man allow him to head on his way. He was looking forward to showing the flower to Abie, wanting him to be the first one to see it other then the artist himself as he was the one of few that had been allowed to see the original brand before. As such he felt that it was very important that Abie see the changed version of the mark first and foremost before anyone else was allowed to see it.

Taking a breath he turned his back to the man that was now holding the floral brand, motioning for him to begin. It was time he thought to himself, allowing his silver eyes to close, waiting for the kiss of the fiery flower to hit his skin.
