-[Solo-Special]- Training a Rajsha
Words: 834

Milan lounged about, bundled up in the cave but still managing to look attractive…. Sueno was doing her best to ignore him as she tried to train Impisi to do more than follow and retrieve.
She and Milan were in a huge cavern near the main winter camp on Ayr for the Wild Tribe. Near them was the maze; a testing ground, Milan had told her when she asked. Plus an area for the children to play in where the adults could keep an eye on them. It was winter here; the maze was almost buried in snow… and so was everything else. Milan, unlike Sueno, had lived here for a few years and knew what to expect; he’d packed everything, pointing out each item to a curious Sueno and Imprisi and telling her what each was for.. and explaining just why they’d need a thick tent even though they’d be in a cave, even thicker clothing than what Sueno had, and too many rugs and blankets.
Now, bundled up in the coat Milan had gotten for her, wearing more layers than she ever needed for Serenia winters, she was grateful for it. Because she had both Gazini and Impisi with her, she couldn’t quite live in the tent village of the Tribe…especially since she wasn’t a tribe member and had no wish to be one! She was, she’d told Milan when he’d asked, a farmer at heart. While she wanted to be a rancher as well… she’d always return back to her garden and farm. And had no wish what so ever to learn to fight and kill other people. And the Tribe required a certain level of skill with fighting... she had none.
“Perhaps,” She heard Milan’s husky drawl from the side; “You should make him a mount. You are light enough to ride him.”
“Ah have Gazini fer that.” She said with a smile as she began to brush Impisi; a task he adored.
“Gazini is good... but not for the high cliffs of Ayr. He’s a Soudulian Hastar, best for forests, swamps and flat lands… If he was an Ayralan Hastar it’d be a different story! But out here you’ll probably need a faster more agile mount.. which you have. Plus I think you mentioned Aisko right? Gazini won’t last there. He’ll die if you take him out during a snow storm there. A Rajsha has the fur to survive there.. they won’t like it, but they can live.”
She pouted a bit, but gave in eventually She loved Gazini... but no way would she risk him on Aisko if it meant he’d die!
“Ye think Ah kin train him like Ah did Gazini?” She mused. Impisi had seen her riding Gazini; perhaps he’d know what she wanted?
That afternoon she started getting Impisi used to having a blanket (one of hers to get him used to her scent) on his back. He didn’t mind it too much… but found out that he could roll over and get himself a blanket to sleep on… so it went well.. sort of.
The next week, to pass the time, she started putting other things on his back; it amused Impisi for a while. And when he was bored, he’d curl up and go to sleep.
“He’s a lot easier to get used to weights than Gaini was.” She mentioned to Milan one night as she was cooking. “Gazini threw everything off and trampled it.”
“He’s a Hastar… they aren’t known for their friendly temperaments.” He responded with a laugh. “Though neither are Rajsha!”
The next week was a bit more miserable for Sueno... they had to go hunting.. in the cold… with wind… and snow….
Milan teased her mercilessly for it, but she went even though she complained. Because Impisi, if Sueno wasn’t around, would eat anything he found first. If she was there, he’d give her first go at it (gross! But she got meat that wasn’t chewed so worth it) then eat the remains. That was the best sign she had that she was Impisi’s master.. or in this case pack leader. They went out most of that week and sepnt the evenings drying the meat found before the real winter storms hit. Milan had told her that once winter truly set in, they’d be stuck in the cave for at least a month... maybe two, three if they were really unlucky. So they stocked up on food and supplies.
That night, she heard the howling of the wind and knew that she was stuck…
But she used the winter months to train Impisi. He finally accepted her riding on his back… and seemed to find it a fun game. It also taught him to keep his balance with her extra weight... and her how to adjust her weight to aid him. The real test would come in spring, when she would ride him along the cliffs and see if she could stay on and not mess up his jumps!
