I'll Stand By YouUsername: Atheare Which SoA Are You Gunning For? Violet Male SoA Name & Meaning (if applicable): Badiri (Celestial phenomenon) Desired Rank and Why: Priest. Badiri is unfaltering in his devotion to the pride and the gods, particularly because he is the only surviving member of his family. All of his family died from the plague, but he was lucky enough to be only a carrier. It is because of this that he believes that he was chosen by the gods. Is he diseased, a carrier or immune? Carrier Was he born in to the pride or did he join later? Born into the pride Personality: Rather proud, but he tries not to show it. In his own mind, he is extremely special because he is not affected by the plague. He thinks that he's immune because the symptoms of the plague occurred when he was so young that he does not remember them, but in reality he is a carrier. He may come to realize this later in life, but he may not.
He likes to think of himself as pure, doing his best to avoid any sort of temptation. The only one he has a real problem with is lust. He tends to justify his desires by telling himself that the gods would want someone like him to pass on his oh-so-wonderful genes, but he knows that the guilt would be too much if he actually acted on it. He would never fling (though he'd want to) and would have to eventually find a life-mate who will stroke his ego and keep him in line at the same time. What is his relationship with other members of the pride?: He sees himself as superior to most of them, but tries to act humble. He treats everyone equally (except for the royal ranks, who he kisses up to) in an attempt to seem righteous to others, though it wouldn't be hard to see through his act. What is his history up until now? His mother joined the pride while pregnant with him and his siblings. Shortly after giving birth to them, she and all of his litter mates succumbed to the plague, leaving only Badiri alive. At first, the cub mourned the loss of his family, wishing for the plague to take him as well, but as he grew he realized what a gift it was for him to have survived. By the time he was an adolescent he was praising the heavens for choosing him, and now as an adult he is a devoted priest who believes he can do no wrong. What a Man's Gotta DoUsername: Christopher Johnson SoA Name & Meaning (if applicable): Siki, "Sour" in Swahili. Desired Future Rank and Why: Growing up, he will train to be a guard or a warrior, BUT things won't turn out that way. If I should win him, I will have to decide what his actual future desired rank is based on how his RPs go. :3 Is he diseased (and if so at what stage do you intend for him to show symptoms?), a carrier or immune? Will be diseased, showing symptoms as an adolescent JUST ABOUT to become an adult. Personality: As a cub, Siki is strong and healthy. He is bold, bright, and arrogant, confident that he is immune to the disease. When the plague finally hits him, he will be crushed, his dreams of being the hero of his pride shattered. Siki will have to remake himself and his ruined self-image. He will be meek, miserable, and bitter, at least until he finds a way to redeem himself for his physical failings. What is her relationship like with others in the pride (both adults and cubs his age?): Siki dreams of being a guard and eventually a warrior when he grows up. He is quite healthy and strong, and revels in it, secretly believing himself to be 'better' than those that succumb. Still, Siki also fancies himself to be noble and pure of heart, so he tries not to show his arrogance. Siki will aid and defend cubs (and even adults) whether they need it or not. He is after all a guard in training, and a tiny force to be reckoned with. Where did he come from? Siki's mother was a pregnant rogue that joined the pride out of desperation, hungry and lonely. She died shortly after giving birth to him and two other cubs. Siki's siblings contracted the disease at birth and sickened and died even as he thrived. Although he is still very young, Siki remembers his birth family only vaguely. He is strong and healthy, and believes himself to be fully immune. If he were to die, he would have died with the rest of his family! At least, that's what Siki believes, and the belief in his own immunity lends him extreme (sometimes foolish) confidence. Any other notes of interest about the cub? Link to one or two completed or current RPs - Just to get a sense of your writing style! X X Why should we pick you? Just curious. . . Uh, I've loved this pride concept ever since I read about it, and I'm so psyched about this chance to enter.

Tainted Love .:For The Black & Blue Playa':. Username: Redbud-Tree SoA Name & Meaning (if applicable): Jiwe’Angani (Sky stone) Rank in the Pride: Scout Is he diseased, a carrier or immune? Immune
How old do you see him as? I see him as fairly young, not fully to his prime yet mentally, but physically there. He just still has to gain the mental maturity to go with his physically-powerful frame.
Personality: Impetuous and egocentric, Jiwe thinks he’s the hottest lion on four paws. And being that he’s immune and thus has more freedom of movement than other lions, he’s also quite convinced that he is (or will be) quite the ladies’ man in his time. After all, who wouldn’t want a piece of this gorgeous hunk of masculinity? He’s not openly rude or condescending to anyone; is anything Jiwe could be considered cocky.
He’s healthy, he’s good looking, he’s still young – there isn’t anything that can bring him down! Unfortunately, this cockiness means that when he does mess up, or gets embarrassed, he tends to take it harder than most, and will often go off to sulk and pout for hours or even days afterwards. Adolescent angst hasn’t completely finished having its way with this lion just yet.
What has his life been like within the pride up until now?: Jiwe’s had a good life in the pride, if an unremarkable one. He’s always tried to outdo others of his age, and is a rampant flirt with the ladies. Since he doesn’t limit his flirting to the unmated females, or even the females of his species, this has gotten him in a few tussles with some of the other males (and even one or two particularly offended females!). Naturally, he has absolutely no idea why they would attack him, because he’s just far too awesome to harbor any ill will towards, and there’s always plenty of him to go around!
How does he feel about being asked to leave the borders in search of new members, new blood, and possibly return with cubs and new blood? Jiwe loves the idea. Going out into the world, spreading his love and awesomeness to the pretty ladies of the rogue lands... it’s all he’s ever dreamed of and more. Actually bringing cubs or a mate back, however – well he hasn’t quite thought that far yet, still hung up on the idea of wooing as many females as he can find.
Will he go willingly, looking forward to roguing it for awhile, or will he be adverse to such an adventure? He’ll go willingly. As a matter of fact, it will take the queen herself to stop him from taking off for the edge of the lands immediately upon being chosen. There are ladies out there in the world waiting for him, after all, and the longer he stays in the pride’s lands the less of them he can woo!
Any additional comments or notes of interest? Jiwe will eventually settle down with a mate and cubs, but he has to get his “youthful indiscretions” out of the way first, which may lead to multiple flings before he finally finds the one lioness that he wants to be permanent mates with. He also has a chronic case of foot-in-mouth disease, and is very good at looking pathetic when pouting.

Tainted Love .:For The Black & Blue Playa':. Username: Sabra knight SoA Name & Meaning (if applicable): Alistaire ((Greek and Gaelic for defender)) Rank in the Pride: Warrior Is he diseased, a carrier or immune? Immune How old do you see him as? In his prime. He’s a tough warrior who has seen lots, but still has the energy and drive to go on for his pride. Personality: Dedicated and serious, Alistaire is willing to do anything for the pride where he was born and raised. Since he is immune he feels that it was fate that allowed him a healthy body that could defend his loved ones in the pride and that one day redemption will come. Though age has worn down the lion’s enthusiasm for much of everything, he keeps on going for the pride’s sake.
He is a bit awkward around ladies since being a warrior always took up his time before. The lion doesn’t know how to be exactly out going and so the fact that his new mission is to make babies will be quite fun. The poor guy will be all business like, but learn that out in the rogue lands you should loosen up some. (His first pick up line - “My pride needs more youths. Therefore, I want to reproduce with you.”) What has his life been like within the pride up until now?: Numb. At first the lion started out as a bright energy who helped out as much as he could in the pride, now as the years and deaths of many of his litter mates wear at him the lion is much more reserved. Still he’ll be the one to instruct the guards and keep an eye out for other potential warriors for the pride. And not ever in his life has he even considered leaving this place, no matter how much death hangs around he will guard it until the day he too dies. How does he feel about being asked to leave the borders in search of new members, new blood, and possibly return with cubs and new blood? The idea was a great one to him. After all he would love to see others join the pride even at the cost of the disease. Maybe new blood would help to cure it even. After all he was immune and he knows that there are others that are immune as well. Though once the actual meaning of returning with cubs hit the lion was startled. Him?! Having babies!? Couldn’t someone else go in his stead? He would much, much rather be content with watching the border. But no because he was one of the immune, a healthy one at that. With a sigh Alistaire realized that like it or not he would go. For the pride. Will he go willingly, looking forward to roguing it for awhile, or will he be adverse to such an adventure? He would not be all too happy to leave the pride but is interested in exploring the rogue lands…though the flinging part disturbs him. He doesn’t know how to handle females after all! But once he’s out there Alistaire will fall in love with the rogue lands though the pride still is his beloved home no matter what. (I’m actually hoping that after some flings he might find a mate in the rogue lands, someone who is immune like him that would be willing to travel to the pride with him.) Any additional comments or notes of interest? Not much. Though I just really love the idea of Alistaire just because of how much of a goof he will be when attempting to find ladies to fling with. After a time spent in the roguelands and once he has found a mate, some of the pain will be lifted from his heart making him almost a different lion. ("He can smile?" "I never imagined it was possible!") Link to one or two completed or current RPs (from SoA or another shop) just to get a sense of your writing style! The Mediator Safe Haven

Tainted Love.:For The Black & Blue Playa':. Username: Princess_Feylin SoA Name & Meaning (if applicable): Ys Vader (Afrikaans for 'ice father') Rank in the Pride: Warrior Is he diseased, a carrier or immune? Immune How old do you see him as? adult (maybe thirty in human years) Personality: Although miraculously immune to the physical effects of the disease, Vader has known his share of loss and death. His experiences have not made him angry or bitter. Instead, he believes that life should be led to its fullest, and that a person should do all he can do to enjoy life. Not that he shrinks from horrible things - he will grit his teeth, swallow his bile, and carry on. Vader is not a particularly emotive lion, for all that, having spent so much time internalizing strong negative emotions, he's gotten in the habit of internalizing his powerful positive emotions. He's pleasant and friendly and always ready with a smile or joke, but it's all on the surface. This is how he tends to deal with any problems or things he doesn't like or agree with, actually. He bears it with minimal complaint, figuring that he really has no right to complain, since he has his health, which he knows to be more valuable than anything else. Oh, yes. Though he would never admit it, Vader has a bit of a hero complex. What has his life been like within the pride up until now?: As a child he watched a much older sister die giving birth to a single stillborn cub, only to be followed in death by her mate, whom others claimed had died from grief. Those two had been his caretakers, since Vader's mother died shortly after he was weaned, but even after their deaths Vader was cared for. Growing up it became apparent he was immune, and so he was urged to become a guard, warrior, or scout. He chose to be a warrior. When his skills as a warrior weren't needed, Vader frequently turned to hunting. Secure in the knowledge that he's immune, Vader was frequently seen sharing his kills with the weakest of the afflicted from his first successful hunt. He learned to hunt because he felt it was vital for the pride to have a hunter who would not weaken or tire with the onset and progression of the disease. How does he feel about being asked to leave the borders in search of new members, new blood, and possibly return with cubs and new blood? He hopes it will work, and he understands why he was chosen to go. He does, however, have some doubts as to how effective this policy will be, as he's a little reluctant to lie to females about his pride, and yet aware that few mothers would willingly condemn their children to grow up at risk of contracting a fatal disease. Will he go willingly, looking forward to roguing it for awhile, or will he be adverse to such an adventure? Vader would go willingly enough, but he would worry constantly about how everyone was doing in his absence, and whether they were getting by without him to provide for them and protect them. He's certainly not averse to having as much sex as he can with any female he finds healthy and attractive. All this is probably going to contribute to his hero complex, and make him a bit more insufferable every time he returns with cubs. Any additional comments or notes of interest? I think it would be great fun to see how he grows into more and more of a jerk, full of himself because of the importance of his duties and his success with the ladies. Everything's Slipping...Username: Princess_Feylin SoA Name & Meaning (if applicable): Cor Oxidat (rusty heart in Catalan) Desired Future Rank and Why: Bard, because Cor's tendency to lie lends itself well to storytelling. She will have to be carefully watched at first, however, to make sure she doesn't change any of the histories. Is she diseased (and if so at what stage do you intend for him to show symptoms?), a carrier or immune? She's diseased, and her symptoms will be evident from the first, though they won't be progress past the first stage until she reaches middle age. Personality: Cor is fiercely loyal to those she loves, and indifferent to everyone else. But whether she loves someone or not, Cor will lie to them. She can't help it, and she doesn't want to help it. She'll tell big lies ("I heard that the high priestess is in love with a hyena"), little lies ("I didn't take that"), and everything in between. She doesn't think much about plausibility, and will frequently contradict herself within a single breath. Aside from the lying, Cor is a pleasant cub who doesn't actually mean to do anyone harm and just likes to have people listen to her. What is her relationship like with others in the pride (both adults and cubs her age?): Because her father is frequently out scouting, Cor was raised mostly by others, but she idolizes her father, being too young to understand most of her parents' story, and only seeing it as a story about her father, which means he must be the hero. No one else in the pride is as wonderful as her father, and any criticism of him is met with fierce denial. But as long as that doesn't come up, Cor's a perfectly agreeable cub, aside from the fact that she lies to everyone about everything, simply because she enjoys the power that comes with lying. She's better at lying to cubs, since they don't intimidate her, but she lies to adults just as readily, though with less success I would imagine. Where did she come from? Cor was the only daughter of a very angry lioness. Her mother fell in love with a scout of the Kitwana'antara and gave herself to him, knowing about the pride's disease and choosing to take the risk. When she fell ill and pregnant around the same time, her love evaporated in terror that she would die. Interestingly enough, the illness she had was completely unrelated to that carried by the pride, but she didn't see any need to differentiate. As soon as she'd borne Cor, she left, never to be seen again. It didn't occur to her that she wouldn't have been allowed to leave if she'd had their disease. She has never looked back, and Cor has never wondered about her. Any other notes of interest about the cub? I plan to kill her (NPC) father off when she's a little older, which will only make her idolize him more. Also, I'd be very amused to involve her in a Boy Who Cried Wolf-type plot, where she's actually telling the truth about something vital, and no one will believe her. Lots of frustration, but personal growth may or may not happen. People don't always learn from their experiences, after all. Everyone's A Hero Username: Kaisanti SoA Name & Meaning (if applicable): Safi Kituko (Cleanliness/clean freak) Desired Future Rank and Why: Nanny, since the pride's young are the only ones she truly feels comfortable with. Is she diseased (and if so at what stage do you intend for him to show symptoms?), a carrier or immune? Diseased, but only shows it later on in life, giving her false hope in her younger years that she is immune. Personality: Safi Kituko is a highly skittish little lady. Fearful of so very much, from the Secret Keepers whom strike terror in the young female's heart, to paranoia about the disease itself. She hates being dirty and is literally petrified of 'contamination'. Of course, this makes her circumstances of being in the Kitwana'antara pride rather unfortunate, for she is constantly surrounded by the sick and dieing. Which inevitably leads to her being highly stressed nearly all the time. She is convinced that the markings on her coat are a visible manifestation of the disease itself, and will try and pluck out the non-white hairs constantly. It is not that she is without compassion, and indeed she will often be found among the healthy cubs, playing and caring for them when their parents are too sick to do so, but her absolute and involuntary terror of filth and sickness means she generally avoids the rest of the population, and becomes twitchy and nervous when forced into a sick lion's presence, though she will do her best to help them and then flee as quickly as possible. What is her relationship like with others in the pride (both adults and cubs her age?): As a youth, she does play with a few friends, but generally is too nervy to enjoy it and often flees if too many gather in one spot. She prefers to spend quiet time with her nanny alone, but is scared of most other adults. As an adult she adores the younger cubs and will spend most of her days playing and caring for them, her only weak spot is if one becomes sick, she will freak out and fall apart, convinced they are about to die at tat very moment, but eventually she will regain her senses and go fetch a healer. Though won't then go near the cub again. Every time this happens she is heart broken by it, knowing she wont be able to see that child again. As for the older members, she generally avoids them, feeling like a fraud among the pride with her weakness about the disease. Where did she come from? Safi was born into the pride, and is one of three survivors from her litter. The other two have gone on to become good, hard working members of the pride and the fact that she can not makes her ashamed. Any other notes of interest about the cub? Mm.. not that I can think of.. I'm All Cried Out Over You .:For The Possibly Rejected Brown/Masked Female:. Username: Kaisanti SoA Name & Meaning (if applicable): Upon loosing the lion's attention, she leaves her old self behind and reinvents her life and herself, taking on the name Fianna. (The celtic word for 'legendary tale', often meaning 'warrior') Desired Rank in the Pride and Why: Hunter, rped up to Master Hunter if possible Is she diseased, a carrier or immune? Diseased Personality: Before the pride: She was outgoing and adventurous, bubble and feisty of spirit. Often the one leading with her best friend following, it was she who picked what to hunt, which direction they went in, when and who to fight. Not above getting into a scrap with other rogues. After the betrayal: Once she recovers from the blow of loosing both her best friend and first love, she returns to the hot-blooded female she was, yet now ha a herder edge to her, a more set, determined manner. Gone is the casual laughter and in its place a more dry, sarcastic sense of humor. Though she will still chill out and relax with friends, she takes her life a lot more seriously and has clear ambitions for what she wishes to achieve before the disease cripples her. That of Master Hunter. What has her life been like within the pride up until now?: What is her relationship like with the spotted female and the male lion? She and the other lioness had been best friends, rogues together they had travailed the length and breadth of the lands, exploring, enjoying themselves and their freedom. Eventually they had stumbled into a strangely deserted area, unknowing that is was the boarder land that isolated the K'A pride. There they had met a golden-coated lion, and both instantly fell in love. Agreeing to go with him they entered the Kitwana'antara, only to discover who and what the pride was. The pair dithered but eventually decided to stay, after all they had explored everything they could, and both felt strongly for the handom male. How does she feel when she is not chosen as the males mate? Devastated, since she had believed the male lion loved her in return, and jealous of her once-best friend, but in her heart-of-hearts pleased that her friend had found happiness. Will this outcome change her or effect her life within the pride? Of course, now she is left mateless, friendless (for it is too painful to watch the happy couple together).. and diseased. She is trapped in the pride, unable to go back to her old rogue wanderings. To give herself something to do, she becomes a hunter, her knowledge of the outside area far exceeds many of those lions born to the pride and she swiftly ascends the ranks, becoming a Master Hunter (- hopefully, to be rped though) Link to one or two completed or current RPs (from SoA or another shop) just to get a sense of your writing style! Let's Play a Love Game .:For The Male:. Username: pinchmonster SoA Name & Meaning (if applicable): Jozo Desired Rank in the Pride and Why: Warrior. Being immune, Jozo feels it is his obligation as a strong and healthy lion to protect those that aren't as fortunate as himself. (If watching those you care for die around you can be considered fortunate :/). Is he diseased, a carrier or immune? Immune Personality:] Jozo is very duty-bound. He takes his duties and obligations towards the pride very, very seriously. Though he's not the brightest fellow, he is very big and brawny both in size and attitude. He detests uncertainty and will be the type to continuously berate himself for any mistakes he makes. He strongly believes in honor and respect and holds himself to extreme standards that he sometimes has problems living up to. Jozo believes that each mistake he makes shows a weakness in his own character and he does not admit defeat easily. What has his life been like within the pride up until now?: Jozo's life in the pride thus far certainly hasn't been an easy one. Thus far he's seen his parents die, and as the only son born who has shown immunity to the disease that runs rampant through the pride, he's watched his beloved siblings die as well. Jozo's world hasn't been a forgiving one. He takes solace in the fact that he is able to provide for his dear pridemembers, that he can protect them and look after them without worry that he himself will fall ill. What are his relationships like with the spotted and dark furred female? (We are actually entering this as a three-some with Shouko taking the spotty girl (Eppie), Christopher Johnson taking the masked girl (Gerda), and myself taking the male.)
Jozo has always loved Eppie. She was his shelter in the storm. He was dedicated to Eppie and had eventual plans on taking her as his lifemate. They had a connection, and still share that connection to this very day, and will share that connection until death.
Jozo considered Gerda merely a pridemate, perhaps as a cub he considered her a friend. She was always a sick little tag-a-long, one that Jozo and Eppie took pity on because she was so sick as a youngster. Jozo continued spending time with Gerda because of her illness and because of his love for his pride, and perhaps this is why the dark lioness felt something for him other than friendship. Who will he choose to take on as a mate? Dark Masked Female, Gerda. Does he come to this decision lightly or was he torn over the two females in his life? Completely and utterly torn about it. After being tricked into intimacy with Gerda and finding out that she was growing fat with cubs, Jozo, the honorable lion that he is, ran to Eppie and admitted his blunder. Knowing that the pride felt strongly about such things, Jozo took Gerda as his mate. She lost the cubs where her disease flared up, and still Jozo remained with her out of duty and respect for the lioness. Despite taking on Gerda as his mate, Jozo continues to spend time with the stronger (though still diseased) Eppie in hopes that one day they can be together. For now, though, Jozo remains with Gerda. He cares for her but feels no love for her, not like he loves Eppie. .:For The Female:. Username: Christopher Johnson SoA Name & Meaning (if applicable): Gerda ("Shelter"), the dark masked female Desired Rank in the Pride and Why: Gerda will be a novice healer. She's not really too great at it, but she doesn't have any real talents at all, so she'd like to TRY to do something useful. Gerda always wanted to be a bard, but as a diseased lioness she cannot leave the pride to bring back new tales, and she isn't creative enough to make up tales on her own. Is she diseased, a carrier or immune? Diseased, she will linger on and on and on. Personality: Gerda is quiet, rather shy and awkward. She is plain-looking and very conscious of it. Gerda can't make witty conversation and she has no great talents or skills. She is loyal and loving, but she can also be manipulative. What has his life been like within the pride up until now?: Gerda's disease struck her early. It seems to come and go, leaving her weakly but never quite at death's door. The quiet, plain, sickly lioness was always left out from the cubs' adventures. She grew withdrawn and lonely, but she always had a crush on Jozo. No males ever paid Gerda any attention. She had nothing to attract a mate. The plain lioness bottled up her unhappiness, refusing to show her sorrow. If she had, perhaps she would have attracted a male to her out of pity, but she remained quiet, passive, a total nonentity. As an adult Gerda struggles as a novice healer, only really excelling when it comes to the use of herbs. What is her relationship like with the competing female (if she has one at all?) Gerda has known Eppie all her life, but they aren't friends. More like friendly neighbors. Gerda has had a crush on Jozo for years, so when it becomes obvious that he will soon choose Eppie for his mate, Gerda's jealousy begins to grow. She would never show this outwardly, of course, she has no claim on Jozo... yet. How does she feel when she is finally chosen as his mate? Gerda is thrilled. She knows that Jozo feels unhappy, but she truly loves him, and believes that someday her love will get through to him. Until it does, it's more than enough just to have his willing cooperation. (To be filled out together, or at least agreed upon by both writers) What will the relationship of the male and his chosen female be like? Gerda loves Jozo, but even after he commits to her, Jozo will always love Eppi. At first, Gerda feels victorious. She may have tricked Jozo into sleeping with her, and she may have lost her precious cubs, but she won the male she loves. As time goes on it will become clear to her that Jozo still has feelings for Eppi. It will eat at her, but she tries not to show it outwardly, instead showering him with love and trying to prove herself the "better" female. Instead of fighting about it (she thinks she would crumple in an argument), Gerda will try to get her way by manipulating Jozo. She will try to spy on him when he sneaks off to visit Eppi. Sometimes, she will act as if her symptoms are flaring up terribly to prevent him from meeting Eppi. Or, he will return from dallying with his true love to find her collapsed and seemingly barely alive. If she doesn't have the courage to confront him directly about his cheating, Gerda will try to ruin him with guilt. Still through this, she loves him, and knows that he will stay with her, feeling that he must out of duty.
Jozo cares for Gerda but does not love her. He feels duty-bound to her, and to the beliefs of the pride.

This goes along with Pinchmonster & Christopher Johnson's entry <3. Quote: Add Me To The Broken Hearts You Collected .:For The Possibly Rejected Spotted Female:. Username: _Shouko_ SoA Name & Meaning (if applicable): Eppie; a Greek/Hebrew name meaning “well spoke; my delight is in her”. Desired Rank and Why: Nanny; Eppie loves children. They are such simple and often times happy creatures. They don’t know the complications of being an adult and the drama it brings, so their simple little lives gives her pleasure to take part in. Is she diseased, a carrier or immune? Eppie is diseased, but it is only at the beginning stages. For a time she was believed to be immune, because she did not show any symptoms until adulthood and was planning on being a spy at the time. Personality: Despite finding out recently that she does have the disease that has taken many members of her pride, family and friends, Eppie is still a very strong willed and heart-warming lioness. She’s very outgoing and likes to spend as much time with members of the pride as she possibly can.
Having seen some members of her pride simply not make any meaningful connections with anyone, all because they knew they were going to die, gave Eppie a purpose when she found out her end was certain. She did not want to be someone with no one and nothing, striving to make as many meaningful connections, as well as fond memories, as she can in her mind before the disease finally takes her. She speaks from the heart, and though she is not eloquent like some, she tries her best to express her thoughts and feelings.
Eppie is not a mean lioness, but the thought or mention of Gerda brings out a roughness in her, only reserved for Gerda. What has her life been like within the pride up until now?: Eppie’s life, despite being raised in a pride where disease is rampant and death occurs constantly, was a good one. She was born a superbly healthy lioness, and because of this robust amount of health, was treated like a golden child and thought to be immune from the disease that plagued the lands. She grew up around Gerda and Jozo, but spent much of her time playing with Jozo and the other healthier cubs since Gerda was very sickly from a young age. She had planned on being a Spy when the pride decided to deem her Immune, and when Jozo started expressing interest in Eppie, even thought about leaving with him to travel wherever he may want to go if he was also declared Immune. When she started showing symptoms, she was distraught at first, but still being so healthy, decided to take on the role of a Nanny to give comfort to the cubs who were either destined to pass before adulthood or were missing their parents because of the disease. What is her relationship like with the masked female and the male lion? Eppie is completely in love with Jozo, and at one point they had even talked about being mates. When Jozo confessed to cheating on her with Gerda, she distanced herself from him, not being able to bear what he had done to her, but still loving him completely despite it. During that time apart, Jozo had openly committed himself to Gerda, because of his affair with her and the cubs that resulted. Despite what had happened, Jozo came openly and willingly to Eppie, asking her to be the one there to help Gerda deliver his children, and Eppie, deciding that it was not the cubs who were at fault and simply Jozo and Gerda, agreed, attending the birthing. Gerda’s cubs died in birth, and Jozo, distraught at the loss, came back to the arms of Eppie, admitting he still happened to love her and still wanted to be with her.
Despite being a generally warm and loving person, Eppie flipped the tables on Gerda and began an affair with Jozo, both as a reclaiming of what was rightfully hers as well as to spit in the face of the woman who took her happiness away. Eppie does not like Gerda, but remains civil to her whenever she passes by, keeping her feelings of her private, despite the fact the pride can see plainly they do not like each other. Eppie does feel some guilt in what she is doing, considering Gerda’s loss of her children and failing health, but is able to rationalize it because Jozo was her’s first. They were destined to be together, and she will gladly wait for the day that Gerda dies to reunite herself with Jozo once more publically. How does she feel when she is not chosen as the males mate? At first Eppie was heartbroken when she heard the news that Jozo had taken Gerda instead of her, but she new why he did it, and accepted this. He was a man of principle and would stick by the woman who was going to birth his children. Will this outcome change her or effect her life within the pride? No. Since Jozo will come back to her, and continue his relationship with her as his one true love and not the woman he dedicated himself to just because he knocked her up, gives Eppie joy and a reason to stick around for quite awhile. She will pretend outwardly they’re not together, but will relish the fact they are, not caring as much that they can’t openly be together.
