User ImageHer ears managed to pick up on his mumblings to Suzume as she turned the corner, ready to leave him out of her life as much as was possible from that point onward. However, the sincerity that was coming from the words stopped her in her tracks. She was still angry but this moment in time reminded her all too well her previous position as his Sanseki. She had been so proud and taken with him since then. She let out a breath of tired air and forced herself move back into the room, heading straight for the man. Once within his personal space, she fell forward and wrapped her arms around him. "Lee-Taicho," she said quietly, so that he would know that this was professional and nothing more, "You did what you could under the circumstances. Do not blame yourself for her death. I know that she would have made you proud had she lived longer but with the way that things are, grieve and accept her passing. She would not hold it against you." Saying her piece, Eriko rested her head against the man's back and just stayed there. Of course, it hurt because she, for herself, had not healed fully but she wanted to give him support as soon as was possible in his state of shock. However, when she felt this action coming to mean more, the young Captain removed her arms and stood away from him. "It was not your fault." With a bow of finality, she turned away from him for the second time and without Cho's assistance, walked out of the office and made a right on the corridor. She probably made it two doors down when the sadness hit her. Her body ached with fatigue from everything that she had experienced in that one day and with the battles seemingly finished, she could finally cry it all out and heal in time.

Tetsunosuke Harasawa

Sixth Division's Captain

User Image

Cracking his neck and then fingers, Tetsu looked lazily up at Akane. He closed his eyes and rested his chin on his palm. Noticing Akane had walked over and rested the corpse of Suzume on the ground, Tetsunosuke opened his eyes and looked at him. Not bothering to reply to Akane's justified statements about revenge, Tetsu heeded Akane's words about him wanting training from the captain. Realizing that would started off by giving him a quilt trip by possibly bribing Hei to do it, Tetsu finally sought words to say. "You know, those are only rumors..." He said with a raised brow. He raised his head and moved his shoulders around some, "anyways, it's highly unlikely he would be willing to train you. You wouldn't be worthy enough for his time to be solely trained by him. To be frank, I was in a mass training session when I first became Ichibantai-fukutaicho. He basically forced Sakuzen Kosshi to reveal bankai to me... and our relationship hasn't been pleasant since: the sword's and that man's." Tetsunosuke firmly looked at Akane. "I say cruel things about Hakase Hei because I have had a bad pass with him. Don't let that affect whatever possible relationship you could conjure of them man, or let it impair your judgment." Tetsunosuke talked in a calm tone, his face showed he was weary from battle and from other siding factors. "There is one thing that man does that I absolutely cannot hate about him; he puts his family first." He stated finally. It was heavy on his chest while he admitted the words. Noticing Elisia, he suddenly dropped the topic totally, the fact that she'd stopped his sword from closing the gap on Hei would be reason enough. With a stare out the corner of his eye, he watched her as she brought another body and placed it into the erected barrier. This time it was Hibiki; not bothering with a response about his condition, he knew that if need be, the Hollow would take control to save the body's life.

While sitting there, Tetsunosuke was keeping his senses on the fight with Ori; during that time, he noticed something. "Tomomi..." He gasped as he rose from his seated spot. Releasing the gasp through a relieved exhale, Tetsunosuke wore a smile as he felt the spirit of his former Captain-Commander disappear. 'Sotaicho... I hope you're able to find peace in your next life.' He thought before looking over his shoulder to Akane. He turned to start to sit back down before a huge mass of Reiatsu would form and disintegrate, he turned and created and extra large Danku with whatever energy he could scrap together. But to his surprise, it had be debunked some how. Feeling a massive wave of Reiatsu that was filled with angry; led him to realize it was Hei's and what must have happened. Not bothering to explain, he uneasily walked back to where he was siting previously and took up the space again. "Tsukiko... she's dead." He said looking in disbelief to the two captains inside of the barrier. Helplessness came over him as he felt Hei's surge of Reiatsu suddenly come to a halt and a sudden nose dive. Even though Tetsu wanted to go see what was going on, he opted to stay here he was as requested. Doing something that could lead to an ill event again would not be in his best interest. For the time, he did not look to Akane as he was in deep thought about all that had transpired.

Lee had not been expecting Eriko to come back and certainly not to try and comfort him when coming back. Therefore when arms wrapped around him from behind Lee was unsure who exactly it was until she spoke. Using his formal title was enough for him to make sure this was simply someone of equal status comforting a co-worker. Still the one-eighty her mood did was unexpected. Hearing the words she offered towards him made Lee let out a sigh. "Thanks Eriko-taichō. She died an honorable death while in battle and therefore I am proud of her. It just shouldn't have been her time." Staying in his position he felt her head rest against his back and remain there. The moments passed and just as the hug began to move into the realm of something else she let go and stepped away from him. Nodding to her last words Lee turned and watched her leave. It was odd to watch the woman leave for a second time. It invoked feelings that he didn't want to have any longer and therefore he remained in his current position gazing at the floor. Then remembering Suzume he walked to the cabinet that held his spare haoris and was pleased to see one hanging up. It was not as clean as it had once been however it would do. Walking back over to Suzume he draped the haori over her body then backed away sinking into the chair Eriko had vacated just minutes before. Running his fingers through his hair he let out a breath of air rather forcefully then just held his head in his hands. How was he going to tell Elisia if she didn't already know? How could he face the woman after her sister died while under his command?

Looking up Eriko's reiatsu was still quite near and had stopped moving completely. It felt like she was just around the corner. Sighing Lee wondered if he to should return the kindness she just showed him and go make sure she was alright. Would she just lash out at him for assuming she would accept his comfort? Torn between decisions he looked at the door for a few minutes before looking directly ahead and closing his eyes. When they were open again Namihime was standing in front of him materialized. "You want me to be the one to go and talk to her Lee-sama? I don't think that will go over as well but fine." Stepping forward and moving around her master the spirit exited the office and moved down the hall soundlessly. Carrying herself with elegance and grace she moved around the corner and peered down at Eriko with a kind smile. "How are you holding up?" Namihime didn't know if the woman even knew who she was because in all honesty she didn't know if she had ever met her in person. "I am Namihime, Lee-sama's zanpakutō spirit. I don't think we have formally met." Keeping the kind smile on her face the entire time more footsteps approaching told the spirit that Lee had decided to make his way over after all. Moving in sight Lee gazed down at his former fukutaichō. "Would you like to talk about anything Eriko-taichō? Are you alright?" Lee was doing his best to extend his hand in friendship again so to speak to salvage what little relationship they might have left.

User ImageCho had returned to her sword for a while now, avoiding her sobbing master completely by executing the action. She had left the young woman in a puddle of herself on the floor, simply weeping. It seemed like forever before she felt a familiar reiatsu sneaking up on her. Already upset, she opened her mouth to tell the man off for a second time but raising her head brought her face to face with a most beautifully elegant being. Before Namihime had even introduced herself fully, Eriko had already wrapped her arms tightly around the foreign female's feet, crying into the folds of the soft material that she found there. She was sniffliing by the time that Lee had made his appearance. Her eyes shifted upwards to take him in from this new position. She did not have it in her to fight anymore and shook her dumbly at none of his questions in particular. "I'm just really tired," she croaked at him pleadingly. Her head returned to Namihime's feet but she continued with her response, "I saw you kissing Nu. I got upset. Cho had to finish my fight. That exhausted hell out of me." Eriko curled up tighter, putting all rankings aside and allowing herself to feel in the presence of pain. "It means something when you feel second best all of the time, Lee-chan." The nickname came out on its own and she did not bother trying to correct herself. "I'm sorry for blasting at you like that in your office," she rolled onto her back to look up at him easily, "I guess that it has just been one of those days." Slowly, almost purposefully, she stretched out of her curled position with her eyes closed, only opening them when her limbs dropped to the floor in a splayed out fashion. From there, she stared at him simply; a small smile tugging at her face but she just watched him intently with her best expression of pure innocence.

⋆⋆⋆ HAKASE xELISIA
yonbantaixTAICHO

Obviously shaken, she had become completely oblivious to everything in the world around her, even blanking out Hei’s Reiatsu, which had abruptly changed into something visible and hardly anything good. It took her even a few minutes to register the appearance of Hei as he morphed into a Hollow and she could barely do anything then, glancing vacantly at his form without the slightest etch of worry on her face that would be present if she had been thinking straight. With her greatest fear having been realized, she had effectively thrown everything to the wind and given up. What was the point anyway? Tsukiko, the other half of herself and the love of her life, was gone completely from this world and there was no chance, no hope that could motivate her to do anything or even move. A small part of her mind, which was growing larger and more insistent as the seconds ticked by, wished that she died along with her wife. Life had no meaning now and there was nothing important, nothing that would even take the smallest portion of importance. After all, there was no reason for doing things, if death simply snatched it away from one without a second glance.

The recognizable roar of the Hollow came as a fright to her, her senses completely in disarray as she tore her gaze off the spot in the ground that she had affixed them to. Yet she only made the most minute of movements as she shifted slightly to the right to show her surprise. All of her energy had been sapped from that single piece of news and there was nothing that she could and would do about that. It was only when she heard her nickname, which Tsukiko had often called her, that she snapped her head up so fast that she nearly gave herself a headache in the process. However, remembering that it was a male voice, she retreated sadly back into despair as it had simply been Hei’s voice, not the one that she had wanted to hear. Another person materialized into view, his spirit or whatever, and she followed the spirit’s movements as if in a trance. But as a black cloud rushed towards the puddle of liquid, she stared at it confused, wondering what they were attempting to do. It was all in an attempt to apparently reveal this particular container, whatever it was. Making no attempt to move as the spirit approached her, she barely managed to properly grip the capsule before it rolled out of her lap. The words of Shouhi registered not long after that and she looked at him in utter disbelief. “Tsuki…?” she murmured, bewilderment settling in quickly.

Needing answers and needing them immediately, she firstly looked to Hei for them, but unfortunately, it seemed that he had become unconscious after all that had passed. It looked as if this was something that she would have to work out for herself. Examining the container, she vaguely recalled that her wife’s body was not permanent, but that it was the girl’s soul that could not be replaced. A rush of hope flowed through her and she almost started crying again, although this time out of relief. If that was the case and she was really holding Tsukiko’s soul, then Hei would be able to fight her, right? Although she was not completely and fully recovered from the shock she had received a second ago, she was able to scarcely gather herself up enough to at least function somewhat normally for the next while or so, until she would have time to properly go through this in private. Seeing Nu’s arrival, she listened quietly, before murmuring a soft reply, resorting to a few words that hopefully made sense, “Nu, not your fault...” She clambered to her feet slowly, gingerly cradling the container as if it was made of glass and could shatter at any moment in time. The faintest of smiles brushed past her lips as she replied to her friend’s enquiry in a tender voice as she patted the container, “This is Tsuki...”

"T-tsukiko?"

Staring at her faint smile, it could only slowly connect in her mind the details behind the Elisia's wife. She didn't know why she hadn't noticed it until now, Tsukiko's periodical aesthetic changes. If this small capsule is what really made Tsukiko Tsukiko, then she could be saved, and that alone let off a huge metaphorical weight off her shoulders. "That's great Elisia, but the only man who could fix her up is knocked out cold. Let's get these two with the others." Her body glowed a dull red and her zanpakutou spirit materialized who, unlike her master, she was dressed in a much cleaner attire, walking over to Yuki's body, carefully picking up the commander general in her two arms, cocking an eye at her master. "Calling me out for the brunt work, eh?" Though she spoke cynically, the two had deep understanding for each other, so Nu could tell this was simply her version of a greeting.

"Yeah yeah, at least you won't have to carry him..." Her head motioning towards the other Hakase, she could tell this amused Tenka, her face emotionless, but her eyes lighting up with the hidden laughter. Doing her best to ignore the spirit's gaze, she walks off to the slumped Hei, picking the captain up and slinging him across her shoulder, somewhat surprised at his weight. "No reason to stick around here, you okay to move?" She didn't want to rush her in any way, but deep down, now that the battle was over, the desire to be in Lee's arms was proving to be a more formidable foe to fight then Arian was. She could tell that he was in his office, and so was Eriko. When she sensed that Eriko was with him, it only increased the urge for her to be with him. Not so much to check up on Lee out of distrust, but to see how Eriko would react to the news. Would it end violent, was she going to be hated, was she a bit paranoid for thinking all these things?

Akane Itsuki, Third Seat of Division Three

User Image
Akane nodded to the reassurance of him joking on the rumors, "Of course, Tetsunosuke." He listens to the captain as he speaks of how he gained his power. He accepted the fact that Hei Hakase had done such for the benefit of the Seireitei, and knew he would make enemies along the way, so it was understandable for Tetsunosuke to dislike him for such. Akane looks now to Hibiki, being placed within the barrier by Elisia as he guessed. The fight with Ori had ended not long ago and he heard Tetsunosuke calling Tomomi's name.

Akane looked up and caught sight of what the spirit of that man looked like for the first time. He twirled the kiseru in his hand and plucked it in his mouth, lighting the tip just before a new flood of reiatsu fell around them. Akane knew this pressure from just the little time of being at the apartments all-too-well. The next words sent a surprised look over Akane's face, as he didn't notice the girl's disappearance. He looks to Tetsonsuke, "If, what I gathered since we were correct, I believe Tsukiko is far from dead, Tetsunosuke.. That girl, she's a Hakase, and that should be enough to establish that Tsukiko isn't dead; at least not for long." Akane had learned many things about the Hakase's as he lived in the apartments with them. Truthfully, he didn't speak to any of them, because he was rather busy with Suzume Yuuki most of the time. Akane yawns and puts his glasses in his sash. He lets go of Suzume's hand and stands, blowing out a cloud of smoke from the kiseru. As Akane got close to Tetsu, he looked to his side and noticed an article of which protruded from his sash. Akane looks forward and blows out a little smoke, "Tetsunosuke, why'd you bring that book to the fight; planned on getting on reading done while fighting one of the Sephira?" He chuckles a bit and a smirk crosses his face.

Shiruba Uingusu, 11th Division Lieutenant
シルバーウイング、第11部中尉

User Image Shiruba was gladdened when he heard her say those words of thanks. It must've been hard for her to do that and he wanted to follow her, but something told him that she needed to be alone. He felt protective of her, but at least things seemed to be dying down, if only a little, and Shiruba felt it best to leave her to her peace, laying down in the bed she once occupied as he needed rest himself...but he awoke with pain...

His memories taunted him even now and he could not shake them. When he was finally alone, he withdrew the mask fragment from his inner pocket and stared up at, looking into it's eye as if it could tell him everything he needed to know...

The Vizard...a breed of powerful creatures, those with the powers of Shinigami and Hollows combined, like the Arrancar or the Sephira, but with none of the ill side effects...to be human without being a demon. Deep down, Shiruba wanted this power, even volunteering for the program, but he wasn't even a Lieutenant when he signed up for honor, so they denied his application on the grounds that he would not be able to handle the Hollow within himself...

Now a Lieutenant, he was eligible, but far too late. They closed the program once they had the applicants they required and have no consideration of opening the positions again. This had infuriated Shiruba to a terrible degree. He need more power in order to stop his friends from being hurt and...possibly...one day succeeding in finding his father.

In a futile dream, he laid the mask against his features. It's fragment only covered his right eye, some of his nose, his upper lip and his forehead above his eye. Naturally, he felt nothing except the cold feel of the bone-like material against his face.

Sighing, he stood up and locked the door to the chambers. He wanted a peaceful and quiet sleep. He did not want to be disturbed by some underling or Vice wanting to find out what became of him. He needed solace and he slowly found it as he closed his eyes, still wearing the mask in some vaunted hope...or careless ambition...

Where there are tears, I shall be...涙があるところでは、私がしなければならない
On silver wings I fly through the sky...銀の翼で私は空を飛ぶ...
Through burdened eyes I have watched...負担の目を通して私が見ている...
In a tortured body I endured pain...拷問本体では私は痛みをこらえ...
In the light I burn with the truth...光で私は真実を上げて燃える...
In the darkness my sin taints us all...闇の中で私の罪は、すべて私たちに汚染します...

A simple nod was the only answer from the still-quiet Elisia to her friend’s surprise, which was rather expected since she had been confused about it at first. Most likely, it would be the 12th Division people that would know more about this. Half-dazed, she stood by and watched as Nu’s spirit picked up Yuki and Nu picked up Hei herself. While she would usually have attempted to help, she had a feeling that she was just barely supporting herself and picking up another person would just endanger both of them. “I’m ready. Drop those two off near where the hospital was, I’ll send others to bring the other injured as well. You can do your own things afterwards,” she quietly spoke, realizing that Nu seemed to be wanting to get somewhere. Gently holding the capsule in her hands, she began the long journey to the hospital and once she settled Yuki and Hei in the hospital which remained relatively untouched, she would send out two others from her Division to pick up the bodies of Hideki and Hibiki.

Namihime had been slightly surprised as Eriko wrapped her arms around her feet tightly and cried into the folds of her clothes. Lowering herself slowly so that she was sitting on her feet on the ground with Eriko being pulled up a little higher Namihime patted her lightly while stroking her head. "It's alright dear." Looking up as Lee approached Namihime gave him an unknown look before returning her gaze to Eriko still whispering words of comfort into the woman's ear. Lee looked down at Eriko sadly listening to her and letting out a small sigh as she admitted to seeing him kiss Nu. Running a hand through his damaged locks of hair Lee was unsure how to respond exactly. "I am sorry Eriko-san. I should have told you first. I should have done things differently. I just wasn't thinking clearly with the upcoming battle. Sometimes I wonder if I ever think things through clearly enough." Namihime continued comforting the Captain as she continued. Lee let out another sigh as he let her finish completely. How was he supposed to respond to that? It was easy enough to see how she could perceive herself as being second best under the circumstances even if Lee didn't consider it that way. "Your not second best Eriko-san. There is no need to apologize for that back in my office. I deserved it."

Leaning against the wall opposite to her Lee let his head go back and hit the wall a little harder than it normally would have. No damage was done from the action but he hadn't been planning on hurting himself through such action anyway. "I am so sorry about all of this. It wasn't supposed to happen like this. Nothing was supposed to go the way it went. I chose Nu-san because we have known each other for a much longer amount of time and I have always harbored feelings towards her. At least on some level. I dunno why I have never noticed before until the same feelings surfaced concerning you. I don't think it's a secret that I have never been good at expressing my feelings and have never been very in touch with them. I still should have told you first. We were together first after all. The decision wasn't because I feel you were second best." Letting out a final sigh Lee pushed away from the wall. "Come since you are so exhausted there is no need for you to make the trip all the way back to your quarters. I did this to you and therefore I insist you use mine for the moment. I am not at all tired anyway. If I grow tired I can make other arrangements. Namihime can help you make the trip if need be. It's the least I can do under the circumstances." Looking to Namihime he received a nod in confirmation then the spirit offered to help Eriko up and move to the bed. With that done Lee began walking towards his office expecting to be followed but not paying all that close of attention.

User Image"Easy for you to say," Eriko responded, the words muffled by her head still being in the other woman's lap as Lee continued with his little speech. Her shoulders shrugged at the next few sentences but his genuine apology caught her attention. Slowly, Eriko pushed herself further into Namihime's lap as she listened to him. All of it seemed that much clearer now that he was telling it like it was finally. She nodded politely to agree with his mention of his lack of tactful ability to express his feelings. The nodding continued wholeheartedly for his point about telling her first but slowed down once he was back to trying to lift her self-worth, blah, blah, blah. Upon his offer of use of his quarters, Eriko's eyes widened and she was lost for second in the daydream that it had all been an illusion but her mind came crashing back down once she felt Namihime trying to help her into a standing position. She smiled wanly at the female, nodding once to show her compliance with the plan. Supported by the Zanpakuto spirit, the younger Captain made her way into the office again and allowed herself to be led where the sleeping section was located. Her body screamed at her once her eyes fell upon the luxurious king-sized bed before them, covered and so inviting. Forgetting to tell Namihime that she could take it from here, Eriko stepped forward and threw herself literally into the sheets, making the bed rock a little. "Oh my gosh, this feels so good," she groaned quite loudly from the resting place, all curled up in utter comfort, "Thank you so much, Lee-chan. This means a lot to me." She sighed against the sheets while kicking off her footwear so as not to stain the bedding. With that out of the way, she became quietly still, almost peaceful. It was as if the oversized cushion knew her every bodily need in that moment and was providing it without consequence. However, just as her eyes were closing into heavenly slumber, one of them would shoot open. "Also, it's okay if you rest here when you become tired. It is not like you haven't hurt me enough. Why not take your rest here?" She smiled into the sheets again. She could get used to this. Playfully, Eriko began to roll around on the surface of the bed, giggling like the toddler that she felt that she was in the moment. She was not worried about Cho as the woman would more than likely return all of her possessions to the female Taicho's quarters. For now, she would enjoy herself here because there was no rush to return and for all intents and purposes, this felt like home to her weakened soul and body.

Sixth Division's Captain

Akane spoke loud enough for Tetsunosuke to hear him, but none of it registered with him. He simply remained seated as the Third Seat continued on. The smoke from the man's smoking pipe did not bother him too much. Occasionally he'd wince his eyes when a large puff of the smoke had floated his way. Tetsu finally seemed to snap out of his thought bubble as Akane approached him and started speaking once more. "Eh?!" He murmured slightly as he stood erect and adducted his hand toward the spot Akane had spoke about. "Wha' the..." Tetsunosuke said as he thumb with a confused expression. Next, he handled the book; promptly, he opened it. As it was upside down at the moment, and toward the back of the book, he flipped it so he could read what was written. "'After your dreams have all died, and mourning isn't mourning... what are you?'" Tetsunosuke read aloud what was written in toward the back of the book. Flipping over a few more pages, he soon came across a page that depicted a moment that spoke about the day. In fine detail, it was written detail about things that had happened in the writer's life. Eventually, he started skimming through the words, until he came across a name. "Neida..." He mumbled aloud. "This must have been that Arrancar's Jacques' personal journal or something. Why did he leave it behind?" Tetsunosuke spoke why still looking at the book, toward the ladder part of his talk, he look up to Akane to give him a confused look. As he was looking forward, the wind had blown the pages some more, which moved toward the middle of the book.

Akane Itsuki, Third Seat of Division Three

Akane looked to Tetsunosuke as he stared at the pages of the book. The first quote struck Akane with questioning look, as he seemed to be quite different from normal. "'When your dreams have all died, and mourning isn't mourning.. what are you?' What kind of question is that?.. Is he talking about.. Hm.." Akane moved towards Tetsunosuke and placed a hand on his shoulder, "Captain Harasawa, I suggest you hide that journal... and read every page that you can. The next time, with the knowledge of the print within that book, you could possibly defeat him, or even find a way for him to not fight again through some mental tinkering. Whatever you do choose to do, keep it from the other Captains.. and remember, I never saw that book in my life." Akane smirks and chuckles, waving off Tetsunosuke, "See you again soon, Tetsunosuke.. I plan on your help with my training as soon as possible!" Akane dashes off toward the Seventh Division, looking to find some information or items of interest. He was wanting to become a Captain, and a Captain-less division was the best place to start.

The Vizard had took to reading the book again, in response, his head was lowered at a small degree. Tetsu felt the hand on his shoulder, not bothering to lift his head in response, he skimmed through a couple of pages before snapping the book shut. " Mhm, I agree. That Arrancar must had have some sort of motive for giving me; I'll just need to find out what it was by studying his writing." The former Shinigami replied to the current third seat. "However, I don't intend on tinkering with his head. I don't play head games; otherwise I wouldn't be the Kendo Specialist of Gotei Thirteen. I understand, I'll keep it hidden." He added, and instantly started an incantation, "Bakudō #26: Kyokko." He finished and hid the books presences, which he proceeded to slip down into his top. With a devious smile, he nodded and opened his mouth. "It's Harasawa-taicho to you... Mhm, I will try my hardest to train you." Tetsunosuke waved him off as he watched Akane leave for the Seventh Division. Crossing his arms and baring weight on one leg, he huffed aloud as he looked around. "Where's Elisia, she needs to get her patients. Though, I suppose with the situation surrounding her wife, she's more concerned with that at the moment." His voice carried a small aggravation due to her tardiness. Deciding to take matters into his own hands, he reaches down and scoops the two of them up into both of his arms. With a fast Shunpo, he left for the direction of the Forth Division, hoping that some of the medical Shinigami had rallied there.
