YOU HAVE MY DAGGER - IN YOUR FACE. This felt like it was going on forever. Rikki would do something well, and then he'd slip up and the mannequin would land a hard blow. Rikki slashed out with his weapon and left a scratch on where the bridge of the mannequin's nonexistent nose would be and let out an agitated growl. He was getting a little tired of these battles. YOU HAVE AN ARROW IN YOUR KNEE FACE.Oh sh--was that thing moving faster than it had before? That did not bode well for him or his fort! Another arrow drawn, this time he aimed for the dummy's knee, hoping to knock it off balance and stop it in it's tracks, to buy himself some time. But though his aim was true and the arrow struck its mark, the dummy only stumbled in its steps a moment, continuing its eerie shuffling gate toward its goal. YOU HAVE MY DAGGER - IN YOUR FACE. It seemed like slow motion. The dummy swung out and Rikki knew it was going way too fast, and he immediately dropped to the ground, simultaneously slashing out with the knife. YOU HAVE MY DAGGER - IN YOUR FACE. He didn't consider how difficult it would be to get back up once he was fully on the ground. Instead of struggling and stumbling back to his full height, he decided to stay low and slash away at the lower parts of the dummy, where he usually didn't deal much damage. SWEET VICTORY! It was a finally spin and a stab in the dummy's neck that stopped the glowing and the attacks. He huffed out a breath of air, kicked the dummy out of the way, and examined the wreckage of his poor fort. It seemed like everything he made here was destined to be destroyed. With a frown he brought the mannequin back to the teacher, dropping it off like he did every day, and left feeling gross and grimy. He was covered in quite a bit of dirt, and could use a shower. YOU HAVE MY DAGGER - IN YOUR FACE.The mannequin slammed through his fort. That sort of pissed him off, Roch thought as he stepped up to the plate with his dagger in hand. He hoped this was the same mannequin that he'd beaten up the day before, because if it was, he knew how it moved. He took his stance, judging his distance and shooting in to take a stab at the mannequin. It scratched the leather, but didn't make much damage. But it proved he was right about his distance, Roch thought as he danced backwards again, dodging the oncoming hit. YOU HAVE AN ARROW IN YOUR KNEE FACE.That dummy was definitely moving faster than it had the day before, and now it had already halved the distance between itself and Sheridan's fort. Jack, this was not going well! His third arrow flew for the dummy's torso, piercing the hide near the entry of his first arrow. And yet the dummy remained undeterred, marching relentlessly forward. YOU HAVE MY DAGGER - IN YOUR FACE.Roch dodged in again, slamming his dagger into the mannequin's throat, then grunting as he had to jerk it out. The jackin' thing had gone in deeper than he was used to-- The mannequin's hand came up, slamming the dagger into Roch's side, far harder than it had the day before. Roch grunted and jerked back, cursing himself for screwing up that badly. There was no blocking with the dagger, he knew that. He would have to be more careful. YOU HAVE AN ARROW IN YOUR KNEE FACE.His eyes narrowed, fangs barred in a wicked snarl, Sheridan growled at the dummy as it marched toward his fort. It was now far too close for his liking and showing no signs of slowing down, and any hints that his arrow strikes had affected it apart from the shafts now embedded in its leather hide. The forth arrow shot straight through the dummy's head, piercing through where an eye may have been and through the back of the 'skull'. The head snapped backward at the struck, a crack clearly heard in the skeleton beneath. And yet the advance continued on. Stupid thing, stay back! YOU HAVE MY DAGGER - IN YOUR FACE.Roch pulled back, starting the dancing circle with the mannequin again.He tossed his dagger from his right hand to his left, then back, feeling much like a street fighter, even as he shot forward, scratching the leather again before jerking back. He probably could have hit harder, he thought, but that last hit had put him on edge. He needed to calm down. A single hit was nothing to him--he got hit all the time. It was the facelessness that was getting to him, he thought. But that was a better reason to kill the jacker. He cursed, his hand shooting out trying to catch the leather man, but failing. This was nothing like the dummies back at school, he thought. Thinking was dangerous when you were in the middle of a fight, if you couldn't do it and fight at the same time. Speaking of which, he should probably stop thinking. SWEET VICTORY!YOU HAVE MY DAGGER - IN YOUR FACE.His last move was perfect. The punk slid under the attacking arm, forcing his way into the mannequin's personal space, sliding the dagger right into the soft spot underneath his ribs. Then he tilted it, shoving it upwards ruthlessly. The mannequin fell back, staggering a few steps before falling on its a** and then onto its back. Roch walked over, crouching down beside him and pulling the dagger out. "That's what you get for ruining my fort," he told it, poking it with his dagger (because he had to, he's an idiot like that) and standing up. He looked at the dagger, wanting one even more now. Once he graduated, he decided, he'd start carrying one. Maybe he'd even get a sleeveless trench, he thought reluctantly. He was starting to understand why his old man wore one all the time. More room for hidden weapons. With that thought he headed back to the teacher to drop off his dagger and get some much needed relaxation time in the dorms. The slimer arrived back in class, refreshed and ready for the last challenge. He had done so well in the last couple of classes that he felt that he was going to do well in this next one. He had the discipline to clear his mind, the ability to gather materials useful for combat and the capacity to handle a sword. The ghost was a natural, and would probably do well dwelling among the Horsemen of War. He just needed wings, and maybe luck. He was giddy at the thought of making a fort of sorts since he had already made on in the trials for War, though it was made of sand. The ghost ran off into the forest looking for something, but every time he found something, another student was there to snatch it up. One after another, anything he found was taken, until he could come up was a couple of pine cones and a stick, and it wasn’t looking good. Fortunately, the ghost had the skills to maximize the use of sticks and pinecones that his defenses were somewhat adequate. It wasn’t the sturdiest compared to most of the other students, but it would do. He used compacted mud for the walls, some sticks and more dirt to harden it, while the pinecones just added an edge, and the stick just added a little distance before the mannequin to come through. But the mannequin didn’t take long to go through his defenses, it charged it, destroying it within minutes, but it took some damage in its attempts. The mannequin, covered in dirt and debris, stood before him, ready for more. It was barely hurt, and it was going to make this a long battle. [[Fort is made of 3 pine cones and pointy sticks. YOU HAVE AN ARROW IN YOUR KNEE FACE.Sheridan was quick to fire another arrow, perhaps too quick. The arrow flew, but though it struck the dummy, it had not struck the intended point, striking the shoulder instead of the torso. As the arrow struck, the dummy spun backward, stumbling to hit the ground face first.
