Reese made a quick detour to the local pokemon center though not before assuring the coast was clear of any wandering market employees. While he hadn’t seen any signs of roving police officers on the prowl for questionable looking punks, he didn’t want to run the risk of running into one. It’d been a few hours now since their heist and he was certain that one of those employees had come to notice that storeroom had been raided. Of course, there was the possibility that the missing items would go unnoticed for a time; until inventory or something was counted.
The coast was clear either way and he was in and out in no time flat. Jaxston, who looked refreshed after the quick visit, was still following along at his boot heels as they made their way towards the towering restaurant building. The Snivy caught the scents of freshly made bread wafting from the building and his mouth began to water. Were they getting food? A bite to eat sounded nice right about now. There was only one among the crew who’d had a chance to eat anything, that Pikachu they’d acquired, and… well it was best not to think of that.
The pair entered the building and Reese looked annoyed. He’d double checked his map and with the nurse at the center, but he still didn’t believe that this place was a gym. There were a variety of different people and while there was certainly some casualness to the crowds, he still stood out against the ordinary looking people. Reese huffed and marched his way to podium nearby, the young woman beaming a smile at him despite his disgruntled expression.
”Hello there! How can I help you today?” She chirped excitedly. Reese starred in disgust, hands shoved deep into his pockets; this was not the time to act out and so he took a deep breath before he spoke.
"I’m here for a gym battle." The girl’s smile didn’t waiver; in fact, Reese was certain it managed to find room to grow. ”Oh of course! And your starter?:
Right, he’d heard there was a gimmick to this place. He gave the woman a look that seemed to briefly question her intelligence. "A Snivy."
”Good good! Follow me then!” She chirped and whisked her way through the tables towards the back of the restaurant with Reese following behind. He could hear the sounds of a battle and they arrived right at the conclusion of it. The girl chirped that he should wait there while she alerted the leaders and the punk just absently nodded in understanding.
He was busy looking at the previous trainer before him; staring rather oddly at the man; he looked… out of place. Kind of like him, but more on the official side. Like a spy or something weird. He glanced at the fox thing following along with him and found himself a tad bit more interested. It didn’t seem to bother his decency much that he was staring. Rude could’ve been his middle name; Jaxston was too busy staring across the room to notice or care, anxiety for the battle beginning to build up in his chest. He totally had this…. right?

JR raised an eyebrow at the young man that happened to be entering as he existed. He turned his head, looking after him with an expression that suggested he was trying to place something. The boy... stood out, in a very particular way. He had that sort of aura around him that said he was as much of a moody teen as he looked, and he looked like one to a T. Scoffing, he shook his head, and clicked his tongue at Cherish before continuing to walk. The fox pokemon had stopped, peering back at the boy, and gekkering curiously. Unlike JR, he noticed -- or at least, seemed to respond to -- the staring, and returned the favor, pawing at the air once, and then hopping on his hind legs to swim both paws through the air, before landing on all fours, and swishing his tail with another questioning sound. He turned, though, as JR progressed, and with one last glance at Reese, turned to bound after the man, and find his trainer.
Who, as fate would have it, was reading over some sort of... advertisement for something. And his furrowed brow and solemn frown made it hard to tell what his take was on it.

Reese watched the man and his odd pokemon as they passed, making a bit of a face. He didn’t miss the odd response from the little fox and gave it a bit of a confused look at… what? Was it dancing? Waving? It was weird all the same. He wasn’t quite sure how to place his thoughts and shook it off, ceasing his staring and focusing as the woman returned to inquire if he was ready to face some guy name Chili.
”Yeah one second,” he murmured at the woman before turning his back on her. He swung his bag around and fished about, pulling a healthy handful of rare candies out. ”Jaxs,” The Snivy snapped around in an anxious panic, fumbling the egg again and causing his trainer to roll his eyes. ”Here, eat these now. I don’t want to have to try this again, The starter deflated a bit at the tone; did Reese not think he was strong enough? He’d trained so hard too…
The Snivy conceded though and took the candies, quickly popping them into his mouth and swallowing them. He felt a quick boost of energy and the approving nod from his trainer meant that he was satisfied. Slinging the bag back to on and hands shoved in his pockets, the pair strolled up to the battle arena to greet a man with hair stupider than anything Reese himself would dare to try and a fiery personality to boot. Wow.
Well the sooner they got this over with, the better.

"Yow!" With a beamish smile Chili rubbed the back of his neck, sheepishly, in the wake of his defeat, and so soon after his brother's, Cress, defeat too! "We had our flames doused -- and by a grass-type too, that stings," he lamented. Despite his words the man still found reason to smile, and kept said smile as he approached Reese and bestowed upon him his sought after badge, sans platter. "Here you go: your Trio badge, TM Psych Up, and a little something extra, here's hoping you can make good use of 'em!" Chili stepped back afterwards, then gave a two-finger salute to Reese. The battle had been fun, but he still had work to do.

"Fine, if you're going to make a fuss of it. The sooner I get patched up, the sooner I can get back to work." He snapped coldly, dropping his eyes to the floor. His memories were bitter reminders of everything he'd lost.
He sat quietly on a cold examination table, holding an ice pack to his bare chest. An X-Ray of cracked ribs flickered with a buzz behind him. The nicks and scratches were covered in bandages after they had been cleaned. The nurse lectured him, but her words were muffled blorps. No matter how you spin it, she's just doing her job. He occasionally spoke empty words. "Of course, I don't know what I was thinking."
When it was over he escorted to a room to rest. Seems they lend these things to registered trainers. The words echoed in his head, as he sat on a bed staring at a floor. A sharp pain stung his left. "Yeowch! What the fu-?!" He looked down to his persimmon partner to biting down on him. He smiled and rustled the ears with his other hand. "Thanks, I was throwing myself a pity party there." He pinched and pulled on the little mouse's ear. "You didn't have to draw blood."
He looked around the room and began to check the drawers and the closet for anything to filch. "Well an ugly looking duffel bag with some junk isn't a bad find. Did you find anything Ma-." The persimmon pokemon simply lowered the shades he had put on his face. " Not bad, but-" The mouse tossed a second set over to his trainer, who promptly put them on. "Totally b****'in!"

Reese didn’t respond to Chili’s lamenting response, instead giving him an annoyed stare. Jaxston was the only one who seemed rather proud of his double KO win against the gym leader, huffing a bit as the sound of excited giggling occurred from the shadow wiggling on the ground.
"Yeah." The punk murmured and snatched his winning from Chili before turning his back on his abruptly and beginning his way back to the entrance. "C’mon Jax. The Snivy blinked a bit in surprise at how curt his trainer was. That was… well rude? He glanced at Chili, giving a little squeak (was it worth it as a pokemon to say thank you?) though not all that loud as he didn’t want Reese reeling around and getting angry with him before scuffling after his trainer.
Reese shoved the discs in his bag and started for the pokemon center again, pausing only a moment to allow Jaxston to fall in step. Well that was one thing down and while the Snivy looked expectant, his trainer didn’t say a word of praise. He seemed focus on his next task. The sooner they got out of this city, the better.
He waltzed into the pokemon center and luckily, didn’t have to push his way to the counter as it was empty to begin with. Reese spun around and scooped Jaxston up, much to the Snivy’s surprise, before plopping him on the counter for a surprised nurse to see. "he needs healing," the boy remarked, his gaze already shifting around the center for something worth his attention. He didn’t need to watch the nurse do her job after all.

He stood outside what he was directed to as the Straiton City Gym. Being in a foreign region he had no idea what the gym leaders were like nor who they were. He arms were crossed, except when he was occasionally swapping bites of a nutrition bar his persimmon partner on his shoulder. They both were ridiculous looking shades. I'm not sure I remember the guy who stood outside Saffron City's gym. I remember hearing him a few times when work dictated I head that direction. Let's see how did it go...
He waited for what he thought looked like a trainer approaching the gym. "Yo yo yo! Champ in the making." He said throwing out his arms in what he thought the kids would think was a cool pose. "Pop quiz! What kind of pokemon does the gym leader use?" The trainer looked up at him with a questioning look. "Which one?" Which one? He struck a different pose. "But, first you tell me who the gym leaders are." The trainer raised an eyebrow. "They're Cilan, Chili, and Cress. They each use a Lilipup, and Cilan uses Pansage, Chili uses Pansear, and Cress uses Panpour." Never heard of them... or the pokemon. "Pan..."
"You're not very good at your job." The trainer sighed. "It's a grass, fire and water type respectively." "Shut up and take your prize." He shoved a soda pop into the kids chest and headed inside. "Hey this is warm." The automatic door closed behind him. He put his shades on his shirt. "I'm here for the gym battle not the dishes. Though if you're just giving them away.. I wouldn't mind one after."

Judging by the look on JR's face, he was just quizzical enough to actually bother asking about Trey's reaction to whatever it was he was looking at. "Contests canceled?" he took a guess, as his best verbal show of his curiosity. Trey shot a short glance up at him, before pulling out his communicator. The older man waited for a response, but rolled his eyes when it became clear he wasn't getting one, and snatched the flier for himself. ".... A carnival? Seriously? And you want to go?" he asked, frowning. That wasn't exactly his area of interest. Like, at all. Sure he could do some pickpocketing but that was a pretty low grade, "I do it because I can and I'm bored" kind of theft, and plus if he got caught, it would be a lot harder to just slip away if all the fairgrounds were looking for him. His opinion was pretty clearly etched onto his face as he handed the flier back to Trey and watched the teen order them a way there. Of course, even so, Trey gave no acknowledgement, and put his device away as a grinning gastly appeared. Without so much as a glance, he stepped forward, simply replying, "Don' go, if ya don' want," before he, and Cherish, disappeared. And honestly... JR considered not going. But a nagging question at the back of his mind brought a grimace to his face, and shortly thereafter, he followed suit.

Before vine whip could take out Audino, the pokemon was switched for Purloin, which took the brunt of the attack. Cilan smiled; with all of this switching around, his opponent must be getting desperate. "Make all the jokes you want, good sir, but you'll find that you'll be eating those words soon enough! Pansage, another Vine Whip!" The grass-type monkey got ready to attack again, but Purloin was able to get in a quick strike before the vine whip went off. Once the hits were resolved, it wasn't clear who'd get the upper hand just yet.
