No matter; Alanna rose up again to watch and allowed her stomach to rumble again. When it was clear that the odd looking man couldn't hear it she slowly egged her way out of hiding and out into the open. She tried to keep low to the ground and approach from the side where she couldn't easily be seen; just because his eyes were closed now didn't mean they wouldn't open up at any moment. she knew there were some pokemon around that seemed to belong to him, but they were off fighting the last she saw and it seemed that would be their focus for the time being.
She just needed to get in, look in the bag for something (anything really) that looked edible, and get out. The Pikachu was a quick one and while not exactly trained in the art of espionage, knew a thing or two about sneaking a bit of food.

About a foot from the bag and there was no trouble. Alanna paused in her tracks to sniff the air; she couldn't pick up anything but the smell of grass and dirt and just the normal scents you'd expect in a forest. She gulped down the lump that had formed in her throat before continuing forward and finally sneaking her way to the bag. Reese still hadn’t moved and his hand drumming had died away,even slumping a bit and breathing a bit heavier as though asleep.
Perfect. If he was out cold in sleep with noise blaring in his ears, than it was a safe bet that her rummaging would go unnoticed. Carefully skirting the last few inches between herself and the bag, Alanna propped herself up on her feet to stand, snagging on the backpack. She gave one last glance at Reese who still looked to be unconscious, before tugging the opening open and beginning her dig around inside for something to eat.

Her quest for munchies was quite the success; a fact that shouldn’t have caught Alanna by surprise but had all the same. Most trainers travelled lightly and the few bags she’d managed to rummage before this had been rather lacking in the snacks department. Of course, with a pokemon center every three feet it was no wonder most trainers felt that they didn’t need to keep food on their person. No, it was best to pack light and leave out anything that you could live without for a short period of time.
That wasn’t what she was looking for though. She’d gone for quite a lengthy amount of time with anything solid to eat; berries either weren’t in plentiful supply or if they were it was because they tasted awful and while visiting the center herself was an option, there was also a nagging danger to it. More specifically the fact that she was a sort of… ‘stray’ pokemon. That led to a lot of questions and worry-warting from those in a position to watch for the welfare of pokemon and well… that wasn’t something she wanted to deal with. She was no charity case and while the loss of not one but two trainers was much for a single pokemon to bear and any reasonable soul would understand, her stubbornness kept her from seeking help.
Instead she focused on her hunt for food and tugged out with glee a small bag of pokemon food. Alanna gave an excited but quiet ‘pikkkaa’ as she dropped back on her bottom and pulled open the top of the bag, fishing a paw in to pull out a few pellets that were quickly popped into her mouth. The food had an earthy taste to it; a mix of spices that she couldn’t quite put her hand on with an undertone of tang. It was different from food she’d had before, but pleasant and she found herself enjoying it more with each handful she shovelled in her mouth.

In less than two minutes Alanna had munched through a fourth of the bag’s contents and showed no signs of stopping. She was hungrier than expected and the had anyone come across her they might have wondered if she was even chewing the food, much less tasting it.
The delight on her face though was enough evidence though as she shoved a few more pellets until her cheeks were thoroughly packed, munching her ill earned gains without a care in that moment. Pokemon food, for it’s rather bland appeal, was an upgrade from the scraps and berries. It was packed with nutrients meant to nurture a pokemon and the Pikachu could already feel her strength returning. Swallowing, Alanna gave a little sigh of relief opening her eyes with the intent to check what was left of the bag. She couldn’t eat it all, as much as she would have liked too. Maybe she’s just take it?
Those thoughts were quickly dashed though as she was met with a sight she hadn’t expected. A shiver ran down her fine as she locked her gaze with the pair of dull-blue eyes staring ice in her direction. Her grip on the bag tightened and lump formed in her throat. She hadn’t noticed Reese come around, but then again with her face stuffing how could she? The look spoke volumes in the silence though; he didn’t… look pleased.

The two stared at one another in total silence. Reese rose a hand up to his head and tugged the headphones down to hand around his neck; his leering became more intimidating to witness as he leaned forward to loom of Alanna. He stared down at her, gaze narrowing only slightly before he broke the silence.
"So," his tone was casual but the Pikachu’s ears twitched at the hints of sarcasm that was beneath it, "you enjoyin’ that pokemon food?" Alanna didn’t move.
"Yeah you know that food? That ********’ food that’s not yours," Reese snarled a bit and in a flash a hand darted out to snatch the bag away. Alanna in a panic tightened her grip and sparks began to fly from her cheek. Reese growled a bit and leaned back to distance himself a bit; despite what others might’ve thought, he wasn’t dumb. Pokemon were dangerous, even he knew that. But that didn’t make this right and that didn’t mean he’d accept some rat coming in and pilfering food that was meant for his team.
With a jerk back he released his hold on the bag, which caught the Pikachu by surprise, and instead spun about on the seat of his pants and kicked a shoe right into the rodent instead. Alanna, still in shock from the fact that the bag had not been ripped out of her grasp, couldn’t react in time to the kick. "Pppiii!" She squeaked as she flew back, toppling head over heels several times before flopping to her stomach with a ‘thud’. Even with the food she wasn’t exactly fighting fit and this much showed it.

Trying not to agitate the new pain in her chest, Alanna pushed herself up slowly. She didn’t miss the shadow cast over her though and feebly tilted her head back to meet the icy gaze again. Reese was on his feet, glaring down at her still with that showed a lack of empathy for her plight. It was chilling honestly, while the Pikachu knew thieving wouldn’t be taken, she’d never thought she’d encounter an individual whose immediate reaction would be to actually assault her.
Her cheeks started to spark again as she gritted her teeth in pain and anger, but this time Reese didn’t seem concerned that he might be attacked. He’d figured out that she was weak and that while he might receive a small shocking if he tried to handle her, the Pikachu was in no condition to do any serious damage without harming herself.
"Kinda dumb, don’t you think?" Reese said, tilting his head to the side "stealing food when you aren’t even fit ta ********’ fight for it." Alanna’s ears twitched but she didn’t attempt to move. Not that they could speak with one another, but the guilty look of defeat told Reese that she begrudgingly agreed with this. The punk toed the side of her face with the end of his boot; the thick rubber of his boot bottoms keeping him from being shocked by her sparks.

Reese diverted his attention from the would-be thief at the sound of nearby rustling. Ginger and Jaxston had returned; the Snivy’s chest was puffed out in pride after some very successful battles. His demeanor faltered though at the sight, his grip instinctively tightening on the lucky egg still between his hands. He didn’t miss the defeated looking Pikachu on the ground in front of his trainer, looking rather pained for some reason. What was going on? He turned to look at Ginger, uncertain of what to make of the situation before them.
The Gengar was staring at the sight; her signature grin had faded to a studious frown. If Jaxston had to guess, she was thinking hard about what she was witnessing. Was this an uncommon occurrence? He could tell that Reese was a brute but was he the type to go assaulting a pokemon? Before he could open his mouth to speak, the ghost had jogged away, only coming to a stop next to the pair. She gave Reese a glance and the boy stared back at her with the same disapproving intensity he’d been giving the Pikachu. Jaxston stared as the two engaged in a silent conversation between themselves.

Reese finally broke eye contact with the ghost, glaring back at Alanna. "This rat came sneaking up and stole some of your pokemon food," he spoke, his tone laced with agitation. Ginger gave the Pikachu a disapproving look at this revelation, a hand rubbing under her mouth.
The hairs on the back of Alanna’s neck rose as the silence persisted. The situation had turn from her worrying about Reese beating her into the dirt to figuring out what the Gengar would do. Maybe instead he’d leave it to her to handle? It seemed the pokemon food belonged to her (or she was part of the group) and thus the loss was to her.
Jaxston remained glued to her spot, watching in suspense. He didn’t know exactly what he should do or if he should do anything; should he help? Was the Pikachu really trying to steal from them? She looked guilty. But then given the thieving they’d done before… did they really have a leg to stand on? Was their just some moral code to thieving that he hadn’t learned? It was all very confusing…

Alanna pushed herself to her feet at this point; if she was going to go down then it would be on her feet. Her gaze shifted between Ginger and Reese; the first for her thinking and the second because she was under the impression that taking her eyes off him for too long would land her receiving another surprise attack.
Ginger dropped her hand away and the Pikachu stiffened as a grin crossed her face. "You shouldn’t go stealin’ from Rere, ya silly rat! That’s how you get hurt!" Alanna just stared; yes, she’d figure that out and didn’t need a recounting of the fact. The Gengar didn’t seem to mind the glare that her repetition earned her, instead maneuvering to her trainer’s bag. She fished about and pulled out a pokeball, skittering over and offering it up to Reese, though her eyes lingered on the Pikachu with that mischievous grin still in place.
"You’ll have ta pay him back! Which means… I think you gotta come with us!"

Alanna stared at the ghost pokemon. What? Reese stared at her too, looking at the pokeball with little enthusiasm. Ginger glanced to him with her grin, giggling and prodding his hip with the pokeball until he snatched it away. The boy stared at it, then her and then finally the Pikachu. He seemed to pick up on what was being suggested and rolled his eyes.
"You owe me for the food. Clearly, so," he chucked the ball in the air before snatching it as it dropped back down, "you’re coming with me until I figure out just _how_ you’re paying me back rat. You get it?" Alanna looked less than thrilled at the proposition, head bowing some. She looked back over her shoulder briefly. Maybe she could just make a run for it?
She didn’t get a chance to try though; the hard ‘thunk’ of a pokeball to her head left her only enough time to squeal before disappearing into a bolt of light into the capsule. The ball began its jiggling, and Reese quickly swept it up. "Oh no you don’t," and quickly he pulled out a spare shirt from his bag and tied it tightly around the ball before shoving it in without hesitation. He scooped up the remaining pokemon food and shoved it in as well; he’d deal with the Pikachu later, but this would keep her from just ‘popping’ out as if it was her right.
Slinging the backpack on, he turned to look at Jaxston who up until this moment was just frozen in place in shock. "You Jax, wake up." The Snivy stiffened and fumbled his egg in his panic, snatching it from the air before it could fall to the ground. He stood at attention like a soldier being addressed by their drill sergeant would, earning himself a confused look from Reese in the process.
"The hell is wrong with you?" The boy shook his head and pulled out the pokedex to scan the pokemon. "Looks like you got stronger. Good." The Snivy gulped the knot out of his throat, slightly relieved that the young man noticed his growth in power though… he didn’t seem all that impressed. In fact, Reese simply gave him one more eyeing before turning on his heels and heading back towards the path that would lead them back into the city. Ginger giggled with a hand over her mouth, giving Jaxston a look before slipping into Reese’s shadow.
"Yo! C’Mon." Reese scolded as he glanced back at the Snivy and noting he hadn’t moved. Again, Jaxston jumped and gulped, quickly kicking it into gear to follow.

Torn between amusement and curiosity, JR raised an eyebrow, but looked up as they neared the city. He turned and stopped, holding his hand out to the boy. "Well?" he asked, smiling politely. Trey finally shot him a look, then rolled his eyes, before gesturing to the pokecenter. This time it was JR's turn to roll his eyes, but he dropped his hand and turned to continue, before stopping. A thought, a small thought, emerged in his mind, like a bubble that had been slowly rising to the surface, and suddenly popped. He stared straight ahead for a long moment, then looked down, before taking long strides to catch up with Trey. He wrestled with the question now on his mind, but swallowed it, and headed into the pokecenter instead. They would heal the pokemon up... then he would take the ones he needed, and head to the gym.

JR was less than willing to pay for any hold items, so it was a little... well, not surprising, but exhasperating to find that Trey literally had none. Not even for contests. No wonder the guy reacted weirdly when he had mentioned them. Figuring that it was probably a little too early to be drawing on those new, recently abandoned pokemon, he just grabbed "Cherish" from Trey, after receiving a lot of glaring. In fact, he could feel the dark look boring into his back on his way out of the pokecenter, as he headed for the gym, tossing the pokeball with the pokemon temporarily recalled into it. He brought some back ups, just in case, but... he was planning on handling this pretty smoothly. Maybe he'd use the one-eyed puffball if it was looking close.

"That's an interesting pokemon you have," the gym leader commented, eyeing Cherish as he extended to the male his badge and TM. "I don't think I've ever seen it before." He didn't expound on the topic, however, and simply waited for JR to retrieve his items before whisking away to heal his team. He still had guests to tend to, after all.

JR offered a smirk and a shrug as he glanced down at Cherish, who had taken to sitting curiously at his heel, looking up at him. It was clear (at least to him) that the pokemon was curious why he was the one telling it what to do, but he appreciated the fact that it had listened, even if it attacked with a bit more... bounce, and prance, and flare to its movements. Definitely a contest pokemon, but at least it could still do damage. The little gekkit turned and chittered at Cress when he realized he was receiving attention, and pawed at the air towards him, gekkering again as he left, before looking to JR. "Time to get you back to your little Irish man, hm?" the man mused, raising an eyebrow as he smirked down to the pokemon, and turned to leave. The pokemon quirked his head to the side, but stood, turning to leave, and looking up at JR with interest. He hadn't really payed him much mind before now...

Limping from the Dreamyard came the old man, whether or not he actually came into contact with the rumored monster of it, was up for debate, his injuries were not. He was knocked back into a wall by Hyper Voice and nicked a few times by various other wild pokemon. He caught a few of them, but he had yet to name them. The possibility of filling up the pokedex filled his mind. After all the professor had given him a chance most hadn't. People are often sunshine, when they've not been left out in the rain.
He looked up at the pokemon center from the outside. He'd been chased out of a few of them for loitering. No place better to find a warm welcoming atmosphere and the smell of cotton candy nurses. He never spent much time in pokemon centers before life went downhill. He started to reminisce, but the stinging of the cold air and the growling of his stomach brought him back to reality. He needed to get in, get out, and find something to eat.
He put on his best casual smile and entered. "Welcome to the pokemon center! How may I help you today?" The attendant beamed, either it was a genuine smile or she was good in customer service. "I need my pokemon, healed." He spoke shortly reaching into his pockets and setting his pokeballs down on the counter. He went to return his hands to his pocket when she suddenly grabbed his hand.
Her hands were soft and his mind drifted back in time. Woah! Sorry I didn't see you there let me help you. He rubbed the back of his head in earnest before reaching down to pick up the documents. "What happened to to your hands? She spoke kindness in her voice. Oh, this is nothing, I was fixing the printer." He smiled stacking a few papers. Come with me." She said holding out her hand. "No, really I should get back to work." He said in earnest reaching for a page. She grabbed his hand. "No, come with me, we're going to get this patched up."
