She hadn't noticed when she'd first been approached by the two Varsythe, but they both possessed rather fascinating features. She'd never seen anything like it, elongated tails and featured wings... well, at least not on one of her own kind. It was strange, in her own pack she had been the odd one out. They'd found her as a pup, crying and alone in Lunaris Forest and had taken her in. She was lucky to have been in their territory, or she might not have survived. There was no way of knowing if her parents had abandoned her or been killed, but she'd always been the strangest one in her pack. Seeing others even more unusual then her was almost reassuring. If the situation were less dire she'd likely already be staring and pawing at their unique appendages, at least if they let her, but curiosity could wait until a more appropriate time. Though even without a close look she could already tell they were more then decoration, the way the limbs tensed and shifted implied as much, which fascinated her even more.
What she found equally as surprising was the strange sense of comfort she felt from their presence. Her own Alpha had a gentle, soft-spoken strength, their confidence was gained from knowledge and age, not physical prowess. Yet despite this, she felt something she'd denied she'd been missing for a long time, a sense of purpose. She'd tried to give herself that purpose, she'd gathered herbs, explored their effects and locations, but it wasn't the same as the purposed gained from the commanding tone an Alpha possessed. Even more so after the call from the one with a power she could not describe. A shiver ran down her spine, fur standing on end and her very blood seemed to cry out in response, though she hadn't needed to do so herself. The red male had done it for her, his call holding it's own power. The other male had sent them strength, ordered them to follow him to Lunaris Forest, somewhere she hadn't been in quite some time. She had true purpose again, something she'd lacked for some time, though she knew she was only treating the symptoms of her wounds. The loss of her pack was still an open wound to her, and simply ignoring it, filling it with other things wouldn't stop the bleeding. She needed to heal, learn to live with that pain, only then would the wound truly be healed.
Now however, it was time to return home.
First things first, she needed to tend to her patient. She knew the female was in pain, though she was hiding it well, she spoke in a calm and straightforward manner to did not belay the extent of her injury. From the wood in the wound she had to assume some manner of branch or log had injured her, most likely when she had been swept up in the rising water from the wetness in her fur. Reaching down into one of her piles of herbs she picked up a few leaves and held them out to the blue female, smiling.
"Yes yes everything will be fine~! Nothing to worry about, nothing at all! Please take these, chew them don't swallow, they're bitter but don't spit them out! If you'd like to help I could use some moss, you see this, yes this moss right here~ It grows on wet rocks near water, though I guess they're all near water now aren't they~? Of course of course how silly of me~"
Her voice was naturally melodic, something which could be heard in her howl as well, though normally that only added to the quality of her voice. However, if she adopted her odd style of speech and exaggerated the sing-song quality of her voice it sounded quite silly, which was rather useful in her duty as an Omega. It was also quite helpful for her work as a Healer, as stressing over an injury never helped the healing process, and making one laugh, or breaking their guard, could do wonders for shifting their focus.
Reaching down she took a bit of moss into her mouth, crunching it between her teeth while she worked up a bit of saliva before taking the pile of stick-like herbs and pulling it into her mouth. Breaking the sticks lightly in her teeth she allowed the thick liquid to spill out, sliding the empty sticks to the other side of her teeth while she worked the combination into a thick foam. Heading back to her charge she leaned down toward the wound, beginning to slowly remove the wood remnants, using her tongue to coat the skin in the foam filling her mouth. She knew this would take a while, which was why she'd combined the moss with the mixture, as that would begin staunching the flow of blood while she worked to clean the wound. While going straight to covering the wound in moss would stop the blood faster, leaving the wound uncleaned, especially with items embedded in it, would increase the risk of sickness dramatically. If they needed to travel for anything more then a short period of time simply stopping the blood flow wouldn't be enough, as leaving the wound uncleaned could result in improper healing. A Healer's job was to focus on more then just the present, they needed to think of the future, and a lifetime of pain and a loss of mobility that could have been prevented is not a future one should force on anyone.

Rainclaw was about to further tease the other male when she felt it. Kestrel, her Alpha. The female pushed herself forward shivering through the pain. She got close to Kestrel, nuzzling the Alpha submissively. "I'm glad to see you Alpha. I was worried." A pup's yip caused her to look back to them. Stumbling over she made sure all five pups were gathering up and ready to go. She nuzzled Riptide back, returning the reassurances as she started to pick the path to the forest. As suggested by the extremely helpful flying female above them.
She kept close eyes on the pups. Making sure the smallest of them who seemed to keep falling behind was nudged forward to keep up. She looked around every so often, worried for others. Howling for others to follow if they could. She looked around at all the destruction...from this...things would keep going. She knew this. Nothing would stop. She looked to the pups. These little ones and other little ones who were protected by their pack would forge the way. She looked back to Kestrel. Feeling renewed strength when she saw her Alpha, looking to Riptide she moved close to the male. Licking his muzzle. "Thank you for caring." she told him before nudging the small pup again.
Nodding in silence to Kallan's initial order, the russet wolf couldn't help a wry twitch of his lips. For a second, it seemed like she would acknowledge him...but that moment had passed. Feeling a sadness in his heart, nonetheless the russet wolf followed after Kallan the best that he could; his own emotions didn't matter, right now. Never mind the memory of her flying overhead, organizing her pack in that strange way of speaking of hers... But, it was familiar, and hidden or not as his mind ruled over his heart, it soothed the russet wolf's worry.
As they approached the others, the russet wolf had been distracted by trying to nimbly out-maneuver thrashing limbs and rushing rivulets that wanted to dash him down into the nearby stormy waters. Mud covered his legs, cold and sapping at energy where it had climbed up to his belly and throat. But the heterochromatic eyes gazed calmly out, not showing the turmoil and worries inside the russet wolf's mind. But the sight of the white Alpha, so strong and almost GLEAMING despite tiny rivers of blood along his fur in the dim light of a chaotic land bursting itself to pieces, touched something inside. The russet wolf didn't necessarily DISbelieve in the White Alpha, but had always been more concerned with what was necessary to do thanks to the White Alpha's absence. He almost could believe, and hope, instead of just stare at the reality that was before him. The Pull had been felt, had been registered, but not quite with all of the russet wolf's mind. He felt it now, a grumbled Oi... under his breath as Kallan jumped the river with an almost mocking ease.
Ears aimed firmly at the gleaming, god-like figure, the russet wolf raised his muzzle, a loud howl strong and unusually deep for the normally-quiet Delta reaching up to the sky.
I will not give up, I seek. I find. I am Jaryn, and I will...not...BOW...to my enemies!
Blinking his mis-matched eyes slowly, like lightning and winter's deepest ice, Jaryn gave a bow to the Alpha standing there as a beacon. He may not have necessarily placed his hopes in the White Alpha, but the normally-quiet Delta Scout kept a stubborn determination in his heart. His eyes held a sort of sheepishness as he glanced at the white wolf...no need to SHOUT, while so close...but it was quickly gone as he glanced to the two sitting there, with the pups. Kallan was gone, but the white wolf had made a clear point; current connections needed to be put aside, and it wasn't a long decision for Jaryn to choose. Pups were the future, and weaker than adults. They needed the help more, than him following his old leader for a taste of home. I can be the Pack-less wanderer a little longer. I'll live...well, maybe not, but still. Jaryn thought, the sadness still in his heart.
However, he'd never been one to back down from a challenge, and working with member of other Packs is something he'd done before. Approaching the others, who looked tired and worn, Jarn gave a low nod of acknowledgement to them. I'm a pretty strong swimmer. I can help transport the pups to the other bank, to follow K...kind Alphas like the one who brought the moss he offered, just a partial second lost to keep his discretion. Must be more rattled than he thought, to slip even that badly. He had to remain unknown for some time longer, it seemed. Afterwards, I can accompany you, and help fight and defend as needed. Quick, to the point, although accompanied by a wry partial smile that many would miss unless they were observant...or knew Jaryn's quieter, more irony-based sense of humor. He'd found Kallan...and now had to let her go. Again. Not that there was any affection between them, but she HAD been familiar, she HAD been Pack...been Family. It hurt, but Jaryn didn't let it show; if the promise was true, thought Jaryn skeptically, he'd see her in Lunaris. And before then, if she was to lead them. But still...other than his offer and the surprising strength to his howl from the leaner-by-loner wolf, he would remain mostly silent, focusing on the tasks set before him.
Get the pups across the river. Follow Kallan. Protect the pups and any injured parties they came across...convince them to form a caravan. Get. To. SAFETY.
He could always freak out privately later.
Especially if there were injuries he hadn't noticed yet, and would refuse to acknowledge until he could afford to let the pain be felt. An odd little trick, numbness from determined ignorance. For now. Jaryn followed the other two who had seemed to revere the white Alpha, keeping an eye out around them as the female nudged and gently encouraged the pups forward. They were wary of him, a stranger...and most pups tended to be uneasy by his mismatched, gleaming eyes...but one seemed to feel safe with Jaryn. He kept his eyes on the group in a whole, but seemed uncertain what to do with the one that had apparently singled him out. Other than encourage it to keep going, nudging that pup along as it faltered. A bit 'tough love', maybe, the pup still walking...but Jaryn wouldn't let the pup fall behind. He would watch out for the pup, as he was watching out for the group; not a Guardian, but as a Scout Jaryn knew he had to be observant. And he was at that, quietly suggesting stronger footing to the other two, who seemed to know each other well.
Still the outsider, still feeling outcast and lost...but Jaryn helped with the pups, following orders as a good Delta did. Unless he felt there was a better way, which then he'd share...respectfully...to the others. And his focus, otherwise, was on the pups...thoughtful, seeming distant. But...they were the Future. They were more important, to get through this disaster. Especially if it wasn't over. For all the struggles they'd have, as adults, it'd be worse for the pups, without families. Without the same Packs. And with the darkening Future ahead of them for THEIR generation to fight. Yes...
...in a way, these pups would be needed to help build the Vurfangs' Hope, and that'd be a heavy responsibility. They needed to be saved...and strengthened.

Morabelle gasped as her head broke the surface of the water and forced her paws to move. She needed to stay afloat and get to shore. She'd been running when the water had over taken her. She had tried to warn some when she had gotten the dream but she hadn't know what to warn them of. The dream hadn't been clear so most hadn't listened. When there was nothing clear to be afraid of why would people listen? She shook her head. Now was not the time to think about all that. Right now all that was important was surviving. She needed to get to shore. This current was strong and she wouldn't be able swim forever. She took a steadying deep breath and forced her thoughts to only be on paddling and getting to shore. Once she was on shore she could morn and try to find food and other survivors. There had to be others who had survived. Some would have been on high enough ground others would have seen it coming in time. And there should be some with abilities to survive all of this. There! Land! Her eyes zeroed in on the land and the others she could see there.
Oh thank goodness people had surveyed after all. It was one thing to assume others had survived but it was another all together to see them. Seeing others gave her hope so she continued to swim but it was getting harder. Her legs were tiring and she didn't know if she could make it to the shore. No! She had to make it. She could not give up. She would not let herself give up. That was not allowed. It would never be allowed. She had never once given up in her life and now would not be the first time she did that. She had seen the fear on those little ones as they had tried to run away. She had managed to throw one into a tree, which was why she was in this situation. It had cost her those few precious moments when she would have been able to get to safety herself, but the pup had been so scared. How could she let it end up in the water when she could save it?
Those drowned bodied... She shuddered and shook her head. That wouldn't help. And focussing on those she had known really wouldn't help. She could freak out later once she was safe. Had to compartmentalize the fear and get herself to shore. She forced her muscles to keep working. It had to be done there was nothing else she could do. It felt like it took centuries but it had to have been much less than that before she felt something solid under her paws. She panted and gasped as she dragged her soaking wet body onto the shore and collapsed onto it. She just laid there panting needing time to regain her strength and make her legs stop trembling like boneless meat. She wouldn't be able to support her own weight until she had rested enough. Her head was killing her from all the times she had been bashed into rocks or trees or anything else that had been in the water. Her home was gone. That hadn't hit her until just now. The territory she had born in was now under water. She shook from cold or sadness she wasn't sure. She needed help. She raised her muzzle and gathered all the strength she had left. "Help me! I'm here! Is there anyone around? Please I need help!"
She wasn't sure how far away those others she had seen were. She hoped they were close enough to hear her. She looked down and saw red on her leg. Oh. That was blood. She had been cut? On what? A rock probably. Great that would make this all so much easier. She focused on the annoying cut rather than her despair. This was easier to deal with. This was something she could focus on and solve. Her despair wasn't something she could solve. It wasn't too bad not deep. At least not deep enough to impair her ability to walk. It would just be hurting once her limbs weren't numb from cold anymore. She was thankful for it in a weird way since physical pain was easier to deal with than the emotional pain she would be feeling without it. She raised her head again. "Please! I need help! Someone please help me!" She prayed someone would hear her and want to help her out.
She jumped at hearing a howl and listened to the words it spoke. Morabelle raised her muzzle up to the sky and howled her grief for those she had lost. She howled also to let others know where she was just in case no one had heard her calls for help. Her howls could carry much farther than her shout could. She howled again and listened to hear if anyone returned her howl. If no one came once she got her strength back she would work on finding others and helping them. That was her job to help and guide those who needed it. She needed to find a pack to help and be their shaman. It's what she was. She was a shaman and she loved it. She needed to get to her feet. Her legs needed to get feeling back soon.
☽xK ᴇ s ᴛ ʀ ᴇ ʟx☾xx offered Rainclaw a small, tight smile when she showed her affection, knowing that she was doubtlessly as glad to see him as he was her. I had feared that my Pack would be scattered, terrified and injured, perhaps even gone to the Ancestors. Thanks to the Alpha these two are at least alright. The Heir watched as Rainclaw shepherded the Pups ahead of her, Kestrel marking an easy pace that would allow those following him to retain their strength. Ideally, I would race ahead, finding any who needed me, but for now, I must protect my Pack. No telling what dangers or disturbances lay in front of us on our way to Lunaris. The Alpha waited to hear some snide comment or reprimand from the Voice within his mind, but it was blessedly silent, filled only with his own thoughts.
The Alpha's elongated ears flicked as he heard a howl, and he stopped their gentle walk as a russet-colored wolf approached them, still a hundred feet off. "Hold, my friends; we've a visitor, it seems." The incoming Vurfang gave a low, sweeping bow towards the Heir, but despite this, Kestrel put himself between Rainclaw, the Pups, Riptide. Caution has never been unwarranted, especially after a disaster such as this. Kestrel gave a deep -- yet not unfriendly -- bark to the incoming Delta, standing at his full height with his eerie eyes watching the male's approach. When the red-hued wolf came within speaking distance, he stopped respectfully some way off, offering a low nod of greeting. He offered to help them in getting the Pups across the river, and Kestrel stepped forward to speak with him. "Well met, Delta. Your aid would be gladly accepted, and you're welcome to travel with us as we make for Lunaris."
Kestrel had noticed the wry smile teasing the Scout's mouth, but he figured its meaning was known only to the Delta, and so thought nothing more of it. I've a strong feeling we'll be needing numbers as time goes on. Doubtless the other predators of this land will be seeking game, and with the grass-eaters likely long gone, a lone wolf or two won't look like such a challenge. The Heir nodded, allowing the male to approach. The Delta had a sadness, a sense of loss about him that Kestrel could easily sense, but he didn't question it; so many had lost far too much, and speaking of it could open emotional wounds that were best left untouched until the relative safety of Lunaris was reached. "I'm Kestrel, and this is Rainclaw and Riptide, part of the Howlsong Pack. Might I ask your nam-" His words were cut off by a panicked howl, one filled with grief and loss and uncertainty.
His head snapped in the direction it had come from, and Kestrel bounded forward, calling back over his shoulder. "Stay here, and remain together! Keep the Pups safe; I shall return as soon as I have aided the one who called!" The Alpha knew that Riptide or the russet Delta might choose to follow him, and that was their decision, but he needed at least two of them to remain with the Pups in the event danger reared its head whilst he was gone. I mean to be back within an hour, but one can never tell with certainty. With nothing more, the white male was off, leaping from ledge to hill-crest, from branch to rock over the still-rising and still-vengeful waters, making haste to where the call for aid had originated from. With his long, delicately-curved ears, it was easy to pinpoint exact locations of a sound's origin. Kestrel slowed from an all-out run to an easy lope as he neared the area, then into a light trot as the blue-hued female was spotted.
He could tell immediately from the energy coalescing around her that she was a Shaman, and his nose told him that she was a Beta, detecting the iron-sweet tang of blood as well. Kestrel padded forward, pupil-less eyes meeting the female's gaze. "I'm sorry for all that you have lost, Shaman, but I am here to render aid in response to your call." He was an Alpha, and so had no need to show submission, but offered the Beta a nod of greeting. "I am Kestrel, Alpha of Howlsong, and if you'd like, you're welcome to join us as we make for Lunaris Forest." His gaze flicked down to her bleeding foreleg. "We've a Healer with us as well, an absolutely adept one who comes from a long line of them. She should be able to tend to your foreleg if you can make it the slight distance to where I left them." He knew that allowing two strange wolves to travel with him posed a slight risk, but as he had said in his Call, all Vurfang needed to work together, for the worst was yet to come.

Sprinkles of rain dotted the area as Kaalia traveled from where she had washed up on shore toward Lunaris Forest. By the smell and sounds of Vurfang howls, she was definitely getting closer. However, the terrain wasn't quite forgiving causing the Delta to detour often, her route pushing her further south. As she came over a swelling river, she looked over on a whim only to notice a bright blue form in the water. The Varsythe didn't appear to be in too much danger, but Kaalia intended to follow to make sure her fellow was all right. In a time like this, everyone needed to look out for one another. She traveled with the river, the land starting to ramp uphill giving her a better view of below. She cringed each time the other bashed into a rock or tree knowing each hit was sapping the other's strength. Worry began to creep into her mind, and it further drove her to meet the Blue wherever it ended up.
As she came around the corner, there was yet again another obstacle in her path: fallen trees and debris that blocked the way, and definitely not low enough for her to jump. Kaalia gave a grunt as she veered to go around, trying to keep pace with the river. Unfortunately it seemed to have sped up, and by the time she came back to the side, the Varsythe was gone. Kaalia cursed silently, her ears erect and nostrils flared to attempt to catch some kind of scent. Thankfully she didn't have to struggle long as she heard the call for help not too far down the waters. Kaalia surged forward, pushing her already sore and exhausted body further knowing she needed to reach the other, and soon. It was then that she noticed a slope toward the water's and a path that ran along it. She all but crashed down the embankment, her body torpedoing her to her destination.
Coming along the beach, she found the blue wolf laying in the sands. Getting closer, the scent became stronger letting Kaalia identify the friendly: 'Vurfang. Shaman. Beta. Female....bleeding. Must be hurt.' Kaalia forced herself to slow down coming in at a loping trot. It was then another presence made itself known, scent coming just before the frame. Large, white, male, and Alpha, the Vurfang went immediately to the wounded's side. 'The Heir. I found him. Is he her Alpha? No telling from here. I better go offer aid.' Just before reaching the two, Kaalia gave an announcing bark of her presence, her tone light and concerned for their safety. Stopping just a few feet away, she opened her mouth letting her tongue loll, her chest heaving rapidly up and down from her hard journey to this point. She came just at the part where the Heir asked if she could travel to where the healer was. Better now than never to say something.
" My name's Kaalia, packless Delta Guardian at your service. I'm here to give aid and assistance, whatever needs to be done." The white and red female gave a bow, her maw curled into a kind grin, tail wagging moderately behind her. She would worry about introductions and everything else later; getting the wounded to the Healer was top priority now.
Morabelle shook slightly and sighed. She needed to get it together and focus. If no one came to help her she'd have to figure out how to get up and where to find others to help. She took slow deep breaths and focused on wiggling her toes or moving her forelegs. At least it wasn't freezing cold since being soaked would have made that hard. She couldn't think about what had happened since all that would do was make her hysterical and hysteria would only make her useless. She could fall apart later once everyone was safe and things had calmed down. She drew on her experience from being a shaman to calm herself and focus. Alright think. You need to think of something. The gash wasn't too deep and wouldn't be a big problem. She let out a huff of relief as she felt the tingling pain of her limbs waking up. Yes! She would be able to move soonish, which was a huge relief it made her able to help others who were in need of it.
Okay, now things would be able easier. Her legs were starting to work better and the pain in her foreleg was making it easier to compartmentalize her grief and fear. She snapped her head around when she hear someone approaching. She tensed ready to fight if need be or offer aid if that was needed. She watched the white male alpha lope over to her and bowed her head to show respect. She didn't want to challenge anyone and this one felt important. This was the heir. It was best to be respectful and he would someone she needed to help in anyway she could. She dipped her head again at his words and nodded. "I'm fine it's nothing to worry about but thank you for the apology. It's very kind of you to offer. Thank you help would be greatly appreciated but whatever help you need of me I am here to help. Anything you need I'll try to do to help. My name is Morabelle and as you know I'm a shaman. My pack is dead so anything you or your pack need I'll offer my help and guidance if you'd like while we travel." She bowed her head again not wanting to be disrespectful. She wasn't usually this likely to show submissive qualities but it was better to be cautious with the trying times at hand. He had to be dealing with a lot and she didn't want him to think she was challenging him.
His nod was shocking and made her relax. Most alphas would not have done that. It showed the kind of alpha he was and that was the kind of alpha she wanted to help. She shook her head at that. "I will gladly come with you and be of any help I may be but you don't need to waste your healer's strength and energy on this little gash it's nothin serious. It might be better to save for someone in need of it. This won't kill me. I'd hate to be the cause of harm if the healer was needed and wasted their talents on my little gash.". The wound is not as little as she claims but neither is it extrmenly serious. She looked over as a bark sounded. She smiled at the red and white delta who loped over to them. This one seemed sweet and was kind enough to give warning before racing over. She grinned back at the playful smile the female showed. She took a slow deep breath and forced herself to her paws. She staggered a bit since her limbs weren't completely awake yet. She caught herself and forced herself not to wince at the pain from the gash.
Once she had her composure she raised her head her limbs trembling from exhausting but she would make it to wherever these two would be going. "Hello Kaalina. I'm Morabelle pack less shaman. How may I help you two?" It was hard standing but she had a will as strong as steel and she would not show weakness. Not to the alpha and not to the beta. She held her head up high and her tail up giving it a slight wave to show she meant no harm to either. She looked back at the alpha and bowed her head again then met his pupiless eyes for a few moments. Long enough to show she was beta and strong as well as a shaman but not long enough to be a challenge or threat. She hoped his pack had survived this and spared him from the pain of the loss. And she hoped the delta had been pack less from the start and not lost her pack in this nightmare. What was even going on? Why was this happening? She shook her head. Not the time to dwell on things. Now was the time for action and she waited to see if the alpha would lead her to where the others were and how she would be able to help them. Her pack would have wanted her to help those in need during this crisis. If any survived she hoped there would be those like her who would help them. Please white alpha help us through these troubled times.

Duke's paws stumbled on the slick cave floor as the wolf bumped against his chest, steading himself before he answered. "Yeah, not even that far, left." His ears perked to the rush of water below. "I hope you were alone down there. It sounds like the water's looking for an exit." he turned towards the cave's mouth, and glanced up as his bluebird fluttered at the entrance, the tiniest of sillhouettes on the rainy backdrop of a ruined landscape.
"I am Vurfang. Flatten your fur before you conduct the skydancers' lights." He gave a disarming smile, which was likely invisible in the poor lighting. "My name is Duke-" He'd started to say the rest, but just gave a chuckle. "My name's kind of a mawful, so I just go by Duke, most of the time. Or... Juron, I suppose, if you'd prefer." He shrugged, turning towards the entrance and nodding to invite Jester to follow. "Coming? I don't really wanna be down here when the water finds its way out." He chuckled, starting for the rainy outside, listening to the howl behind his own ears. He'd heard it, he heard the words, and wondered why he'd never been to Lunaris. "You going with the howl? With the others?"
Riptide watched the russet wolf warily, not sure what to make of him. When one of the pups befriended him, he decided to go with the little one's judgement and accepted his presence, though it was an odd one. That, and the fact that while his alpha may not trust the new wolf, he had accepted him into their traveling pack-of-sorts, and he trusted Kes. For now, it was important anyways to get as many to Lunaris as possible - odd wolves or not.
He'd just reached down to nose a little one more towards Rainclaw that'd fallen behind, when a howl sounded and Kes bounded away, shouting orders to remain behind and keep the Pups safe. He hesitated for a moment, eyeing the pups, his mind clearly undecided what to do - Kes was probably going to need help with whomever. The pups seemed okay for the moment in the small group, the one cuddled up close to the male, and the other three seeking shelter from Rainclaw. "I'm going to follow him, see if he needs help. Keep them here, safe, I will return quickly."
Bounding away, his tired muscles ached in responce, but still he worked them hard to catch up, following the scent of his alpha, and the direction the howl had come from. He caught sight of Kes's fur and gave a sharp bark to announce his presence. He skidded to a halt above the group of three in time to hear the 2 strangers introduce themselves, and raised an eyebrow. Packless? Hmm..one way to grow Howlsong..."Rainsong and the russet one are watching the pups, I came to see if you needed help." He watched Kes carefully, quietly, awaiting his orders, curious if the two would be invited to join their pack or if that might wait till later.

It wasn't THAT deep of a bow XD and I thought he DID say his name, in his howl s: ah well... ^^; plus, he'd be able to tell Kestrel is powerful, but I'm not sure if Jaryn knows he's the Heir *shrugs* he'd been alone a fairly long time... And his semi-disbelief in the White Alpha answering prayers and helping means he probably can't readily accept that the White Alpha HAS help/strength on the land right now s:

Opening his mouth to answer the white Alpha's question, Jaryn's wary eyes held a slight frown as he was interrupted. He kept his head high, not enough to challenge...but he wasn't so submissive to cower like an Omega. Even if they were good at making a show of it for amusement purposes. Barely showing some of the slight annoyance at feeling like he was being given PERMISSION to HELP on the offer he'd given freely, Jaryn kept that quiet; he was a mere Delta, in part because he was a little smaller and leaner. At least, that's how it worked in his birth-pack, and Jaryn had learned how to use his slightly-different size to advantage. He was still very much a creature of muscle, but there HAD been times that other Packs had thought him an Omega, when he was younger. Jaryn had learned to be quick and cunning rather than strong, although he knew he needed that quality as well to survive. Part of his survival so far, was his sheer stubbornness, a refusal to be bossed around. At least by the elements, although Alphas just kind of did that anyways and he was an obedient Delta...if not ALWAYS a very subservient one. Depending on the circumstance.
An edgy sort of energy ran through Jaryn as he heard the white Alpha's orders. He wanted to follow, to help, instead of stay slow to keep with the pups... A sort of wordless protest was very nearly silent from the Scout, and he sighed internally as the dark male left. Well, that choice had been taken from him... A twitch was barely seen at the corner of his muzzle as Jaryn chose anger over sorrow at everything else, all the other choices...and his Family...taken from him. Shaking his head quickly, there was a glint to Jaryn's mismatched eyes as he kept his peace. And his place.
Following the female, the Scout's eyes flicked around after the other males had left. It was ironic, males seen as protectors in the usual sense, most Hunters and fighters that Jaryn had met being male. So far. But the female was just barely bigger than him. Or maybe she just had thicker fur and better eating than readily available to him as Jaryn had wandered searching for members of his Pack. Either way, it rarely built confidence in others meeting Jaryn for the first time, evaluating his leaner build. And having fur sucked down in mud wouldn't help his image, either. Whatever. Ducking his head in a quick greeting, helping nudge the pup staying close to him nearer to the others, Jaryn flicked his ears back and then slightly on the female in a quiet sort of greeting. I'm Jaryn... he stated quietly but clearly, feeling a little foolish even though the not-necessarily-gentle quietness was normal for him. But that feeling didn't show. What WOULD show would be his composure and quiet nature, reserved and self-contained. The pup made a quiet mewling noise as it stumbled after him and Jaryn blinked at it...but he didn't let the pup fall on the blunted muzzle. He didn't CATCH it, and keep it from tumbling, like most concerned wolves probably would have...but Jaryn did place a paw out so that it fell more against his supporting leg than on the ground. Tough love...he wouldn't baby any pups with him. But he wasn't mean or cruel either, a pensive expression in the Scout's eyes as the pup seemed startled and made quiet noises to itself before nuzzling against Jaryn's leg, shivering.
Well, the other male had said to wait, so... Jaryn let his tail rest around the pup as he sat cautiously down, scanning the area with eyes that held a lot more wariness and discomfort than trust; he was the outsider. He had been for what felt like a LONG, long time. One ear was still focused on the blue female who had some of the Alpha's and the other male's scent around her more than just a new greeting...Guess they're part of the same Pack, those three the russet wolf thought with the loneliness a silent ache inside...showing that she still had Jaryn's attention even as the mismatched eyes scanned the area and the other ear kept a steady awareness. Mostly he just heard the loud roars of rivers gorged and gluttonous for all that could be dragged in their hellacious paths. But that didn't mean there weren't others out there...or other predators eager to take on some bedraggled, half-drowned wolves.

Pacing on the other side of the river, Kallan tried to think of a way to help the grown Vurfang get the pups safely across. Flying them over was out of the question, as it was too risky... not to mention something she'd never done before. Watching the swift current carry more debris downriver, she alighted on a plan. Letting out a loud yip to get their attention, she launched into describing it without delay.
"I have a plan that should aid in your efforts to cross safely, along with the young ones. I humbly request that you find a way to guide the young ones to the narrow part of the river further down. Wait there, and the path shouldn't take long to be made."
Swiftly turning, she ran along the bank, paws slipping in the mud and catching on partially submerged branches and loosed rocks. There! Right where she remembered it being was an ancient tree. Before the river had swollen, the tree had been safely beside it. Now, however... the soil beneath its roots was almost washed away, causing the tree to lean over the murky water. One more forest elder must fall this day... Kal thought sadly as she took a running leap at it. If she could just knock it over the rest of the way... Here, even as swollen as it was, the river narrowed enough that the tree could span the gap between the banks.

Aura stood on the hill, the young pup he had carried in his jaw still hanging with a quiet whimper. He sat the little one down, giving the other three who had managed to escape a few licks and check overs to make sure they were alright. The pups made no sound, looking down towards the water with a fear and unspoken hope that one of their brothers or sisters would rise out of the water. Aura looked up at the sky, howling in sadness. In his head, moments later, he heard the voice of the Alpha, his howl falling silent as the pup's ears twitched while they listened.
The pups curled up closer to Aura, hungry and wet as well as afraid. Aura was terrified, but he knew he had to be strong for his little ones. As he looked down at the pups once more, he noticed one of the boys had a large gash on his leg. A small gasp escaped his mouth as he leaned down to clean the wound, wincing at the size of the gash. He knew it was bad, but he had no knowledge in taking care of such a large wound. "Don't worry, you'll be okay, okay Storm?" The little pup looked up wearily and nodded, snuggling closer to Aura's leg. He was unsure how he would be able to keep all the pups safe, especially when the light faded. "Come on pups, we will have to walk." The pups all looked up at him with both confusion and fear. "Walk...walk where?" they asked, their ears flattening. "Towards the voice that calls us."
The female kept the pups close as her Alpha and Riptide rushed off to help other wolves. Smiling at the pup that was bringing the newcomer closer to them. The more help and lives she saw was welcomed. She inclined her head to the new russet male. "Rainclaw." she introduced herself before looking up to the winged female. Nodding she urged the pups to follow her. Seeing the large elder tree she sent up a silent prayer of thanks to the elder tree for saving the pups. She looked to the male. "I'll cross first..."
She looked up to the female calling up to her. "Once we're across, tell Kestrel and Riptide where we are. I don't want them to worry." she looked back to the new male. "Keep your eyes on the pups please...I'll lead the way securing their safety on the opposite bank."

Star Ingd Eathe has informed me she's going to be afk a couple days. We can pass her over this round.
Rothar watched the healer work in silence, making a mental note of the moss she had inquired about. He would rush off to see if any was able to find this moss if he needed too. Though for the time being he wished to stay by Kiana's side and observe the skills this healer possessed. it was not easy to find a talented healer. And with these tough times ahead the healing arts would be invaluable. Though he knew nothing of this female he was going to have to put the life of the only one he truly cared about in her paws. He wanted to make sure that this healer knew what they where doing before he would leave her side, unless it was mandatory for him to be elsewhere. He curled his tail gently around Kiana, careful not let it be in the way of the healer as he held his head high and proud, his sharp eyes watching the healers every move and feeling Kiana's every twitch. He said nothing just lay there next to his mate all stoic and intimidating. Though he had no intent to cause discomfort with the weight and intensity of his gaze, he was just in serious mode as he worried and observed and thought about the future in this trying time.
