Levi SaysVS 7 Borgnah in Nest Snatcher - Done!
As clouds cover the forest, Levi sets out to bring his Gaili home before Sam winds up hunkered down in a nook somewhere for the duration of the storm. While he doesn't find his mate, he does run into a whole web of trouble and two Khehora struggling to get out of it.
I did the right thing. I know I did. There was really no other plausible way that this could've come out as well as it did. I saved that female from her suffering. I promised to take care of her eggs. And I will. There's nothing wrong with that. I'll be a better parent than her or her mate. And I'll have Sam. He can be ridiculous sometimes, but he will be a good father. I know it. And he will not be slain by a hoard of arachnids. I know that as well. We can defend the eggs better than that couple could. I did the right thing. I did the right thing for everyone. Results: +210 EXP, +7 LUK, +7 Brown Spikes Words: 2187

  Family Solo Acting Stork
"You just found these," Sam demanded as he stared incredulously at the three glossy, oblong orbs that Oblivion had returned with. He was half-inclined to believe this was some prank, concocted as a punishment for spending time cowering in the rain. Levi had lived here once, so he surely knew other Khehora that would help him pull it off... Even if Sam wasn't entirely sure what type of mother would hand over her eggs for such an event. Maybe they were just painted stones. He reached a claw out to scratch lightly at one of them. The egg even looked like him, for Abronaxus's sake. Levi was obviously trying too hard.
The Diabi squealed in alarm as his companion's claw scraped along the shall with what had to be ear-splitting force from the inside. "Sam, don't," he pleaded, knocking the Gaili's fore claw up and away from the little egg. That was no way to treat an egg! Oblivion shot him a glare before scooping all three of the eggs nearer to him and tucking them beneath his wing, safely away from the prying and disbelieving eyes of Samael. "I didn't just find them," he assured stubbornly. "They were a gift." Sort of. Sam's brow quirked in suspicious question. Levi swallowed. He'd spent every moment since coming in contact with the eggs how he'd explain their sudden appearance to a skeptical Gaili. Sam was thoughtful and reasonable, but he would never condone killing an innocent Khehora, even if it was the best thing for her. "The parents were locked in combat with a group of filthy borgnah when I came upon them. I heard the father's cry and actually... thought it was you," he admitted sheepishly. "By the time I arrived, it was too late to save him, but the mother fought on valiantly. Together we managed to fend the creatures away from her nest, but she'd been gravely injured. Without anyone nearby to help her, she knew her life was at an end. Her dying wish was that I be certain her babies had a good home. And they will. With us," he finished solemnly with a nod, flicking his tail around the eggs protectively.
The Diabi gouged his mate's reaction. There was disbelief, obviously. It coated everything else like a thick slime. But beneath it there was sadness for those lost, acceptance of Levi's tale, approval that his Diabi had done the right thing, satisfaction for having a mate that could be entrusted to such a deep and meaningful task. And lower still, given away by only the faintest glimmer in Sam's eye, glee, happiness, excitement. He had a nest of his own. No, they were not born of him, but they were his. They had been presented to his mate, which was hardly a wing beat away from being presented to him personally.
Oblivion ducked his head to hide his smirk, disguising the motion by raising his wing to peer down at the eggs. Sam was going for it. It wasn't like it was that far from the truth. He'd merely kept a few of the finer details to himself. So it shouldn't be surprising that his Gaili would believe him. They were mates, after all. Sam should always believe him about serious matters like this.
So when emerald orbs appeared over him to peek down into the niche Oblivion made with his wings and tail, he shouldn't have been surprised. "You're serious," Sam questioned softly, giving his companion's maw a nudge to draw his attention back to green eyes. Levi tipped his head to stare back at him. His Gaili was hiding how eager he was. So earnest. Oblivion could tell him the truth, but something so harsh would ruin the moment. One day he would tell Samael everything. He promised it to himself. For now, he simply nodded and unfurled his feathered limbs to fully reveal the eggs to his mate once more.
The larger Khehora leaned down to sniff at sleek treasures. They certainly smelled like they'd lingered around a young couple for a while... Levi's tale wasn't impossible, just unlikely. And if it gave him his own eggs to care for, should he really question it? He had been thinking about young orakoi for a while now... It was a blessing that Levi should run into a young mother, even if she hadn't made it through the battle. He rubbed the softer pads of his paws against a dark egg with a yellow stripe. Trick or not, he should be pleased in this moment.
"Alright," Samael relented finally. "If you're really serious..." He trailed off, still somewhat reluctant to buy into what could possibly be a trick, but also really wanting to swaddle one of those eggs in a web of his own wings and tail. Reading his thoughts, Oblivion beamed, and gave the dark egg that held Sam's attention a nudge toward the Gaili. A pleasant spark of excitement shot through him as the smooth egg tumbled toward him, and Sam was quick to wrap it up in a bundle of leathery wings. He crouched down and cooed softly at it, rubbing his nose against the dark eggshell. His emerald gaze flicked up briefly to see Levi's smirk, and he felt inclined to combat that smug expression in some way. "If you're lying, I'll plow you into the ground," Sam threatened with as much malice as he could muster, while shielding the defenseless orb from his angry words.
To his surprise, Levi only blinked in shock. The Diabi recovered quickly, shrugging it off with a ripple of his feathers as he lay down to cover the two other eggs with his glossy coat. "If that's what gets you going, I'm sure I could come up with something that would spu-"
Sam's eyes widened in realization. "Y-you know I didn't mean-!"
The Diabi ambled closer, scooting across the ground and dragging his eggs with him, as gently as he could manage. "Well, we should be good and close if we're going to be raising these younggins together." he pressed his downy flank to Sam's side and nuzzled into his companion's neck. "It's not so weird to want to be close to you in other ways, is it?"
Needless to say, neither of them thought anymore words were necessary. Results: Brought the nest to Sam. Words: 1055 (total), 527 (for Oblivion)

I suppose I should be more... caring of Sam's plight. And my home does seem rather dangerous for new parents. Soudul is home to the most powerful of dragons, after all. I don't want to leave, though. For some reason I kind of assumed we'd be able to raise our new nest here... But no. I can't go against Sam. Not yet. Not about this. So back to Eowyn we'll go. Sam returns to the nest to find that one of his precious bundles of joy is missing! He comes to find that his Diabi mate decided to simply give it away to his mother without even speaking to Sam about it! Naturally, they can't help but argue over this heinous crime.
There was no hiding the fact that one of the eggs was missing. I knew Sam would be upset about it. I just... hoped he'd give me a chance to explain myself. He always seemed like the reasonable sort. Just not when eggs are involved, I suppose. I managed to stop him from flying off to find her by promising I'd be a better communicator next time. I dunno how true that is, but at least it made Sam pause. Results: +90 EXP, +3 LUK, +3 Gaili Dragon Soul Words: 932
