Solo #77 709
In a lazy afternoon moment of rest, Rio lay on his stomach on the grassy floor of his bedroom, knees bent and legs kicking periodically. He'd been incredibly busy lately, more than he had been yet since being reborn. He had struck a Dragon King and the God of Forest with his arrows, and thus far that had proved to be a very successful endeavor. By doing so, he'd taken away the indecision that had kept them from moving forward, and the results were exactly as he hoped: the two gods were smitten with each other. He truly hoped that, since affection had already been present, the effects would be lasting. If they didn't last...well, to say that he would feel bad would be an understatement. What was done was done, though, so he could only wait and see. And go to their party! How delightful. He was certainly going to invite Leo, whom he thought would enjoy it.
Ah, Leo. The young man had played no small part in keeping him busy in the days since his arrival, a welcome distraction from more 'serious' tasks, and from the gnawing worry about his daughter. It had lessened substantially, but it was still there, and wouldn't fully go away until she returned, and he knew that she was safe and sound with him...or with Glyph, as it were.
There had been his errand to speak to the Goddess of Trickery as well, making her one of four gods he'd given advice to in a rather short span of time. Granted, his little talk with Akakios hadn't been related to his domain, but it had been advice nonetheless. And now, he found himself considering going to visit Tien Lung, a Dragon King he'd heard much of, but had never met for himself. And who was probably incredibly busy, being both King and Councillor, so perhaps he should wait...or else 'happen' to run into him somehow instead of marching up to his door to visit. It would seem a little less suspect, and as he wasn't sure he wanted to let on that he'd talked to Tien, a 'random' meeting would probably be best.
As if all of this wasn't enough, ever since he and Leo had...flustered Laurence in the gardens, he'd been thinking about the priest, and how it might do the poor fellow good if someone could get him to loosen up. What the host needed, clearly, was a little love in his life. And didn't he deserve some? He was, after all, giving himself over to a god. Who knew how much time he had left? If Rio could improve it for him, shouldn't he?
This barely-formed idea of a plan had its own set of complications, though. Hosts and emotions were tricky, and could affect the god who came after, and anyone who loved a host loved someone who was dying. It could be cruel to put someone in such a position, unless...another host, maybe?
Hmm. Thought crinkled the god's brow. How many hosts were even around, at this particular time? There was Two, but the elf was in a fragile state, a strange situation, and it wouldn't be right to draw her into a relationship. For the same reasons he hadn't pursued her himself, he wouldn't involve her in his plottings. The former slave was the only host he knew personally, but he did know of one other: the woman who carried Justice, Shyamaath's true mistress, and who he had started to think was deliberately avoiding him.
Shyamaath had tried to encourage her to speak with him, but she had yet to do so, and he'd never gotten an answer when he knocked at her door. From what he knew of her - and the aoide had told her most of what she herself knew - he couldn't say that he was surprised. He could also say, however, that she might actually be a fit for what he needed; from what he gathered, she could probably use the help as much as Laurence.
Yes, maybe...he would consult with Shy, and see what he could do.
