Cracked ribs. Difficulty breathing. No sudden movement. Must take breaks to catch breath. Confusion was tangible in the air as what had once been a hub of conversation became clouded with agonizing screams and moaning. Nate began attempting to sort through his scattered memories in an attempt to discover what had happened just moments ago. It seemed as though one moment everything was fine and the next they were locked in a conflict with those they sought alliances with. It didn’t take him long to realize that he was no longer standing, but instead was sprawled out on the ground. The dirt scratched at his cheek as he attempted to bring himself to a stand, but a horrible pain that took his breath away prevented him from going any further. Perhaps his journey had come to an end in this dreary place; they would be upon him and the others at any second.
Just as resignation had begun to settle in someone jerked him roughly upward by his arm, causing him to scream out in unbridled pain. His arms immediately wrapped about his torso as though he were attempting to keep his innards from spilling out, and he clutched at his aching ribs. “Let’s go!” The unfamiliar voice shouted. He didn’t know where he was going, or if he even had the strength to follow but he allowed his savior to drag him along nonetheless.
He was quite slow, but the one who had yanked him up never left him behind but continued to look back and yell profanities at him. Despite his struggles and lack of breath he was still able to laugh a little, at least someone cared. However, a deep darkness began creeping into the back of his mind. His injury would make surviving this whole ordeal that much more difficult…

The bandits would recieve their cipher back with lots of strange scribbling and a note that read cecil sempai noticed me.
It was accompanied by a bad drawing of a face. It was probably not the correct solution to the hidden message, but it was readily apparently that the writer had had their mind on other things.
