DSS Corvina of Windflowers
Dice Roll: 2: You are lifted into the air as the gravitational field is disrupted. A few nearby Kosopods are looking for anything to hold onto. They may spit acid at you or just try to grab onto you to try and ground themselves. Some of them are dazed and confused; they are too overwhelmed to be particularly aggressive but they seem to have little control over their movements. You may be able to grab onto something or someone to hold yourself down but this will be very straining. With focus, they will be able to keep you from floating too far off the ground. You may choose to drift into a gravitational pocket and drop back down to the ground. You should not take fall damage but you may wind up with light bruises.

Action: Also floating away, not that this will stop him from trying to get Lanting together.

Corvina didn’t really understand what was going on, even before the gravity decided to malfunction (or the Almadel decided to break it, or whatever was happening to all of them here right now). It was often the case that Lanting did or said things that didn’t make any sense to Corvina, where he perfectly understood the words being said but not the sentiment that they tended to imply. Just because he was alone, why was that any reason not to put himself in the way of attacks that were meant for Lanting?

What sort of partner would he have proven himself to be, allowing Lanting to come to harm like that?

Waiting for Lanting to explain what he meant—or for some sense-making narrative to emerge in his own mind—Corvina was staring at Lanting in open confusion, which did not abate at all as Lanting started to float away. Rather, Corvina frowned deeply, looking more offended than anything—which……well, he was. How dare the gravity pull Lanting away from him when they were having an important exchange of words! What did the Almadel even think he was doing back there, to make such things happen! Yes, Corvina’s own feet had left the ground as well, but not nearly as much as Lanting’s had.

With nary a thought in his head beyond Protecting Lanting, Corvina grabbed onto his wrist. This did exactly nothing to bring either of them back down to the ground. Instead, Corvina floated with Lanting, getting higher and higher—and tugging Lanting closer to him. That was the most important thing: getting Lanting close, nestled against his chest, and protectively holding Lanting there. As much as he could, Corvina tried to shift his body around so that, whenever the gravity returned to normal—or whenever they found one of the pockets of normalcy that some people seemed to be finding—he would hit the ground before Lanting.

“It’s okay,” Corvina said, voice low and mostly gentle, hopefully something that would help Lanting calm down. “I’ve got you.”

And if he could shield Lanting from any judgment out of Dunnottar by showing that insignificant failure of a Knight how somebody here knew how to treat Lanting appropriately, then that would’ve also been nice.

Lt. Cryptomelane
Dice Roll: 2 = You are lifted into the air as the gravitational field is disrupted.

Action: Gravity foils his attempts at staying in the get-along dome. Then, gravity punishes him for having a bad attitude.

Getting the acid off of Sonora’s arm had only been what made sense to do. True, they stood on opposite sides of this war. True, neither of them seemed open to the idea of that situation ever changing (Cryptomelane didn’t know what truly lay inside Sonora’s heart, but he certainly wasn’t willing to swap sides. Even if he hadn’t liked and appreciated the opportunities that the Negaverse gave him—even if they hadn’t seemed like the clear and obvious future victors of this conflict—having the additional supplement to his income from their paychecks had helped him so much already, and he didn’t want to give that up). But as far as enemies went, Sonora was one who deserved respect.

Cryptomelane didn’t understand her, but she had her perspective on the cosmic conflict at play and she stood by those convictions, rather than talking about peace and love while trying to murder people or torturing them for having been with the Negaverse (even though some among their ranks were quite young, like Brassite). That alone deserved respect, and certainly enough goodwill to help get the acid off her skin before it hurt her. As much as Cryptomelane hated being stuck in her zone of compulsory getting along magic when it worked against him, he could certainly appreciate it at the moment. The kosopods going at both of them had been expelled, and that was about the best thing that anyone could ask for right now.

Unfortunately, it didn’t last. When the gravity went off, Cryptomelane yelped, feeling his feet leave the ground and start pulling him away from the protective zone that Sonora’s magic created. He hated that he’d made such a sound, and that it had sounded so thoroughly undignified, but he also hadn’t expected to be swept off his feet by literal reality like this. What was happening. Why was it happening. And more importantly in the short term—

“Sonora!” He looked around for her, hoping that she at least wouldn’t be struggling too much under the circumstances.

Character: Super Monoceros, White Moon Senshi of Porcupines
Action:

Monoceros wasn't quite so sure that Nagyagite was fine, but he wasn't about to call him out, or something. That wasn't his business. Probably wouldn't be, once they all got the hell out of this place. He took a few deep breaths, scanning the area, trying to size up more kosopods they could try to defeat, when suddenly—

"Eep," he squeaked hoarsely when he was suddenly floating upwards, feet scrambling for purchase. His world tilted a little and he panicked a little harder, breath coming faster and faster—these kinds of thrills were not his favorite kind! By far!!

Then Nagyagite pulled him back to earth (so to speak) and he panted, knees going weak as he stumbled a bit and placed his hands on his knees once he settled back on the ground somewhat.

"Thanks, man," he said, shaking a bit. "That's not very pleasant. I, uh. As long as you don't mind your backup being a soulless ginger." He grinned the smallest amount, gesturing his head towards Nagyagite to emphasize the gorgeous bun of blood orange hair.

"Other than not floating away, what's the next step of the plan? More Kosopod killing?" he asked, deferring to the Captain. He bit his tongue at himself for doing it. So much for staying completely away from anyone in the Negaverse. He just couldn't help himself, could he? Constantly chasing down people in need and trying to help, no matter who they were or what they might try to do to him.

He shoved down any feelings of queasiness. He didn't need to deal with that on top of everything else right now.

Deep Space Eternal Sailor Daedalus
Roll: 1; up up and away~
Currently: trying to hang onto his kosopods and failing a little bit

Well. Daedalus had planned to take these few kosopods back to his homeworld and see how they worked as pest control. Apparently, the gravity here had other ideas. He held the bundle of his jacket against his chest, taking care not to jostle or squish the poor creatures inside, but when the lights came on and the gravity went off, he ended up taken off his feet and, in his surprise, losing his grip on his jacket--which allowed one of the kosopods to come loose, while he flailed to grab it back.

An incredibly dignified bit of behavior for an Eternal Senshi who had survived throguh a thousand years. Really. Daedalus felt very cool and competent right then.

The good news was, he was able to regrasp his bundle before the rest of the kosopods escaped.

The bad news was, he picked up several others on the way--although they weren't biting or spitting acid, just clinging to him like he was a grounding agent.

"We're going to have a very bad time when Almadel fixes the gravity," he warned one, hanging off his shoulder. "I just want you to be aware of that."

Not that it could understand him, but it felt polite nonetheless. Like talking to Murikabushi's lovely, intelligent pup, Cersei, to warn her when he had to step over or around her because she'd chosen to sleep near a doorway.

Transcended Eternal Sailor Kerberos
Roll: 2; what goes up must come down
Currently: Floating, and then dropping, making heart eyes at Ida along the way~

Well. At least nothing with Almadel could ever be considered boring.

The lights came on, yes.

But the gravity went off.

And Kerberos found himself, very suddenly, in the air. He wasn't alone, either; plenty of people had clearly been swept up, some having a much worse time than others. He scanned for familiar faces--andf landed on Ida, radiant in her princess form, shooting at the Queen kosopod like the absolute badass she was.

If one accused Kerberos of having heart eyes, he would not have been able to deny it in that moment. But who could blame him?

"Get it, Princess!" He shouted, even if it was more than a bit silly.

There were a few kosopods floating around him, butt hey seemed dazed, and not much of a concern; that meant he could focus on sort of pushing himself towards the wall, and then off it, and into an area that seemed to still have gravity--which was both good and bad.

Good: he was back on the ground.

Bad: he hadn't been as ready for it as he thought, and ended up landing a little hard. Nothing serious, but his calves were definitely going to be bruised.

Character: Dunnottar, Page of Lysithea
Action: floating up up and away, flailing, trying to pretend like he's not losing his mind, generally not having a good time, having a panic attack not that he recognizes this as one

Dunnottar didn't start to panic the instant his feet left the ground. It took him a moment to realize it was happening in the first place—he sucked in a breath, tried to remain calm, grab onto something, anything, but...

It was a completely useless hope. Up, up, and up he sailed, scrambling for purchase, reaching out, trying to claw onto anything as he slowly rotated in the air from his own mad flailing attempts to keep himself safe. He wasn't safe, he wasn't safe, he had no control, and while he wasn't being physically thrown around by someone, and the gravity change was slow... It didn't stop all of his instincts screaming at him to get away, that something bad was coming for him.

His breathing stuttered, and he managed to catch a glimpse of Corvina and Lanting—of course Lanting had someone who wanted to help him. Of course.

Even in his sheer panic, Dunnottar felt a small corner of his wildly beating heart quiver in jealousy and hatred.

He had no one. And the murderer (didn't matter it was their previous lives, didn't matter one bit, not to Dunnottar) had some big beefcake willing to worship him. How ******** dare he.

Character: Lieutenant Vesuvianite
Action: trying to help ilmari while kicking a couple of kosopods away from the area so ilmari can land safely, then shucking off his acid covered jacket before the acid can hit his skin

Vesuvianite gasped when Ilmari started to fly away. Oh no oh no oh no. This was bad, this was so very very bad! He kicked a couple of Kosopods away as violently as he could and winced at the pain shooting up his foot from the effort he put into it. Damn, he really hoped he didn't break a toe or something stupid like that. He grabbed Ilmari and pulled them down.

However, once Ilmari was safe (or well, somewhat safe—safe from the space floating, anyway), one of the kosopods recovered from being kicked and spit acid at him. He squeaked a little and shucked off his jacket to avoid the avid going through to his skin.

Sonora, Squire of Ida
Roll: 3; mostly safe
Currently: Floating a little, losing control of her magic, trying to grab Cryptomelane before he floats too far away

"Thank you," Sonora said, quietly, when cRyptomelane started wiping away the acid on her arm. It burned, yes--but it seemed they'd managed quickly enough to avoid any lasting damage. Oh, she really wished she had healing magic--even if she loved her sparkly little dome that made people behave.

Oh, no no no, this wasn't fair at all. Cryptomelane was being so kind--demonstrating that he wasn't the monster he clearly wanted to pretend to be--and then the gravity in the room shut off.

Sonora lost her footing--and although it was only for a moment before she was able to push herself to somewhere where the gravity was still on, it was long enough that it distracted her from her magic and the shimmering dome came down.

When she landed, she whipped her head around, until she spotted him--

"Cryptomelane! Grab my hand!"

It didn't matter that they were technically enemies. If she wasn't willing to be kind to someone who';d helped her, all of her principles were worthless. If she wasn't willing to extend that hand, she'd never look at herself the same again.

So of course, she did. Whether he took it was up to him.

Eternal Sailor Alastor
Action: Grabbing Sessrumnir and keeping him from floating off

Alastor took Sessrumnir’s hand in his own and immediately pulled him back down. He’d hooked his foot under an ornate stand that had been bolted to the floor and used it to ground himself and guide Sessrumnir back to the ground.

    I’ve got you. I’m here.

He could have held Sessrumnir off the ground a bit, tight and snug in his arms, but he wanted him to know he was on the ground. Sessrumnir joined the safe little pocket Alastor had been lucky enough to find, and even with the immediate threat apparently handled he didn’t let go.

The Kospods are gone,’ he said, but with his free hand he took the opportunity to brush it across Sessrumnir’s body just to be thorough. ‘It’s just you and me. We can take a moment here if you need to breathe. I’ll keep everything away.

Even if the gravity field went down in their area he was confident he could keep them from floating too far if he kept his foot hooked as it was. He’d adjusted himself just slightly so Sessrumnir’s back was closest to the display case and he stood between him and the rest of the room so he could have a moment to calm down without worrying about anyone or anything bumping into him.

Belmont, Squire of Jupiter
Action: Floating off a bit, using his chain weapon to tie himself to a statue so he can stay close to the girls and knock Kosopods away from them. In very good spirits but trying not to look like he's having fun floating

“Ah ha, yeah, about that,” Belmont said, but he was already floating upwards. He kicked at the Kosopods as they struggled in the air so he wasn’t totally useless, but he was already drifting a bit too far for Targoviste to reach.

“I’m okay,” he insisted, even as he was hovering awkwardly above them. His heart was pounding in his chest but if anyone were to ask him how he felt–

Well, he was enjoying himself, to be honest. This was exhilarating. He’d been to space so many times before but he’d never actually done space things. And while he was up here, it was so easy to push the Kosopods away. He could make sure none of them touched Connie or Targoviste!

His weapon had a good few feet of chain, so as he started to float higher he finally took advantage of that. It wasn’t like on Earth and he didn’t get a good swing in but he managed to hook it around the arm of a particularly bulky statue. It was bolted to the ground so he hoped it wasn’t going to go anywhere–and as long as he kept a good grip on his weapon, he could even pull himself down so he was mostly close to the girls.

“Connie, you’ve got this. We won’t let anything happen to you. Good catch, Targo. Great job, team,” he said, doing his best not to sound like he was having too much fun while they seemed like they were still struggling.

Kosopods and people alike were floating around and bouncing off of nearly everything. It was a haphazard display. Some were more lucky than others. Almadel seemed to be doing what he claimed; the gravitational anomalies were becoming fewer but it was clear that he was still struggling to get things under control.

Maybe he wasn’t trying very hard. Or, maybe something else was working against him.

Another electric hum shuddered through the museum. The lights stayed on but the Kosopods had done their fair share of damage.

And now they were doing more.

The Queen was the worst of it. While the other Kosopods were either scuttling about, or flailing through the air, all they could do was spit acid and bite at anything they could reach.

She was already on the wall–and she was already enraged.

She screeched again, this time so loudly and so horribly that it hurt the ears. A few nearby display cases cracked.

The gravitational distortion warped the path of Ida’s arrow somewhat but it still hit its mark; it exploded into the side of the Queen and she recoiled, stumbling to cling to the wall. Her rear end lifted, like she meant to swing it at the nearest floating targets in an effort to hurl it at Ida, but it made the perfect opening for Jet.

She didn’t notice the General King, and in the brief opening Ida gave, his glaive sliced her underbelly.

She roared, maybe not in pain but certainly in surprise, and slammed her tail down before thrashing in all directions.

The museum trembled once more.

The Queen thrashed against the wall. She dug her legs in deeper and she targeted the marble she clung to. Layers of acid began to melt through the wall.

The museum trembled again and then shook with such force that it seemed like it tilted. It might not have been enough to throw anyone off balance but it was still an unpleasant sensation.

Marble debris began to clutter the air too, and as some of it drifted into the stabilized gravitational zones it even suddenly, violently, plummeted to the ground.

Metal groaned. Wailed.

Almadel’s voice came over the speakers again, desperate: “Wait! Stop her, don’t let her–”

His voice was drowned out by the sudden, immense vacuum of space. The Queen had damaged the wall so much that it couldn’t withstand the pressure and tore open. She was the first one sucked out but she put up a desperate fight. She clung to the wall, and for a brief few seconds she made a net. She wasn’t strong enough. She fought, but in the end the only thing she accomplished was creating a bigger hole in the wall.

The hole was probably no more than twelve feet wide but the ground trembled. The display cases were straining. Some had already broken. Debris and Kosopods and people were being sucked out.

A pale blue shield bubbled around the museum but it was badly cracked in places. A small asteroid smashed against one part of it and it fractured away while the rest held strong. Some small rocks were pelting the museum through other holes in the wall.

They were right in the middle of an asteroid field and with the fluctuating energy, the shields are failing.

It wasn’t all bad. The museum was as beautiful on the outside as it was the inside, and much larger than the one room they’d seen. Anyone who had been sucked out could breathe. For now.

And, they had the most beautiful view of the sky.

In the distance, a blue sun–beautiful to look at and painless on the eyes. A purple cloud of stars hung over them like an aurora. Galaxies swirled vibrantly, undoubtedly far away but with such beautiful clarity that it almost looked as if they were only inches from your face.

They were surrounded by a sea of stars, each ones like tiny gemstones soaking up the light and reflecting it twofold.

They weren’t lost to deep space yet, the barrier probably had something to do with it.

There might still be a way back into the museum. But if not, at least you get to see true space, in all its beauty.

Maybe, for a split second, you even see the strange, black lightning storm in the very far distance–past asteroids and planets and who knows what else.

Far enough away that you can’t make out details. Close enough that you might still worry.

Quote:
The Queen has torn a large hole in the museum wall and she has been sucked out! …And so has some of the museum and its occupants. Artifacts, debris, Kospods, and people are being sucked out after her. The gravitational field is still finicky, so some people may find themselves more susceptible to being sucked out and some may find themselves more resilient to the pull. The Kosopods may still attempt to fight, but most of them are dazed or confused by this sudden turn of events. If you’re feeling particular ambitious, you can attempt to grab some of the debris or artifacts that have been sucked out as well; nothing particularly large has escaped the whole but you might be able to collect some of them. Might as well, while you’re out there. If you manage to stay inside during this, you can still help–maybe you can keep someone from getting sucked out, or save some of Almadel’s treasures.

Dice Instructions for this round:

Roll 1d4 ; this affects the current prompt. If you rolled a 4 in the last round, you gain a +1 to your roll in this round. If you rolled a 1 in the last round, or if you didn’t roll at all, you will automatically take a -1 to your roll in this prompt.

1: You are the unfortunate victim of a very powerful current that drags you right into space. It’s not an easy trip; you may wind up getting bumps and bruises along the way, or having another unpleasant run in with a Kosopod. You are sucked outside of the building and sent tumbling in empty gravity. If you’re lucky, you may be able to stabilize yourself. You can still breathe, and it just feels like you’re floating in water. It’s easy to get dizzy from the sudden, extreme movement. You may avoid being sucked out into space by grabbing onto something or someone, though this will be very difficult and you may hurt yourself in the process.
2: You are carried out of the museum and into the space outside but thankfully you are entirely unharmed in the process. You manage to avoid any painful encounters with other people and objects, and though you may tumble a bit it isn’t so violent that you will feel the urge to be sick. You may be able to avoid getting sucked out into space but it can be painful.
3: You are nearly sucked out of the museum and propeled into space. You manage to keep your grounding, either by being in the right place at the right time or by grabbing onto something (or someone) more stable. Maybe you have magic or a personal item that can help you–but it’s up to you to decide if you want to focus on staying safe or if you want to help anyone or anything back into the museum.
4: Luck is on your side. Not only do you avoid the debris suddenly being hurled out of the hole in the wall, you are also in a safe, secure place that allows you to do whatever you think is appropriate. From where you are, maybe you are able to rescue someone else, or save some priceless artifacts from being hurled away. You may have access to some rope that allows you to reach someone who has been sucked out of the museum.

If you are sucked out of the hole, you do have the option to teleport back to Destiny City safely but you will miss the conclusion of the ORP, as well as IC Rewards! You just have to trust that Almadel has your back…
You are free to choose the action that seems most appropriate for your character in response to the prompt you roll. You might choose to attack or capture Kosopods, try to help anyone or anything who is being sucked out of the museum, or something else if you feel it best suits your character. Your response should reflect the above prompt in some way but your choice in RP is freeform. You can choose to use a prompt for a number lower than what you rolled, but you cannot use a prompt higher than what you rolled. If you have questions about if something can work, you can reach out to xigglet on Discord or PM The Space Cauldron! If you would like for your character to investigate anything in particular or gain more information about the environment, please feel free to reach out as well! It is possible to find an artifact or relic that is some way important or relevant to your character but you must have permission. If you are interested in finding something, please be prepared to give a physical description and any relevant lore; we can work things out with you. If you are interacting with anything not otherwise discussed OOCly, please bold the section of your post and quote The Space Cauldron so we don’t miss it!

If you have not yet joined the Event but want to participate, please keep in mind that your characters must have arrived with the rest of the group; there can be no late arrivals ICly. OOCly you can still join, but you are also encouraged to consider doing a Side RP; you can still rejoin the ORP for the closing post if you do! If you join the ORP late, or if you missed a previous prompt, please make sure you read the current prompt closely to determine how this will affect your dice this round! You cannot backdate or roll for a post you missed. The next prompt will be in about 48 hours so should go up at ~6PM EST Friday the 28th. The next prompt will be the close; this is the last chance to join the battle in the ORP. You may still do side-RPs but you will not be able to join the battle part of the ORP after the closing prompt is posted.

currently: Holding on and looking to see how everyone else is doing.

Despite the chaos and danger surrounding her, Ngome held on to the pillar with all her might, refusing to let go even as the room shook violently and the Queen Kosopod wreaked havoc. She watched in horror as the wall began to crumble under the Queen's assault, exposing them all to the vacuum of space.

As the museum started to decompress, objects and beings were pulled towards the breach in the wall, including Ngome herself. She felt the pull of the vacuum tugging at her, threatening to tear her away from her only lifeline.

Ngome's heart raced as she clung to the pillar, her grip tightening as the pull of the vacuum threatened to tear her away. In a split-second decision, she braced herself and launched towards a nearby display case that held ancient artifacts from a long-lost civilization. With a swift movement, she managed to grab hold of the case and wrapped her other arm securely around a priceless relic to anchor herself.

The force of the vacuum was relentless, but Ngome held on with all her strength, feeling the strain in her muscles as she fought against being sucked into the void of space. She glanced around, her eyes scanning for any sign of Almadel or the others amidst the chaos. Debris and Kosopods were being pulled out of the breach in the wall, disappearing into the vast expanse beyond.

DSS Haik
Action: Got sucked outside, is mostly okay but still suffered a bit of a tumble. Is currently losing his cookies.

Seemed his luck ran out, though not all of it, when he got sucked up into the air while mid-jumping away from an oncoming bug. All he could do at that point was dodge everything and everyone else being sucked out as well. Mid-air maneuvering was decidedly not his strong suit–he was a man who lived underwater ninety-nine percent of the time while on his home planet–but he did his best.

At least he made it outside more or less unscathed. His stomach turned something horribly toward the end, though, and while he got a glimpse of the beautiful view outside, he didn’t have that much time to enjoy it.
