Her Aura was still out there, and he apparently accepted the Aura. While in the air. She had a moment to have to hold onto the damned thing or to fall. This was supposed to be a fun lesson about how to headbutt. How she was ascending further into the air, her hands wrapped around it's back, the wings constantly buffering her hands. A red aura, with black started to radiate from her. Her mind pissed about how she was in this situation. The last thing she remembered was seeing the grimm's stomach.
However, that's not where her body went. Her body with a nimbleness that she did not normally possess swung herself onto the back of the grimm. She would then grab onto the wings that were beating, and with a roar, she would rip them off of the grimm, causing both of them to start crashing. If Henryk followed them, He would see Ora, with an anger almost radiating from her. Her horns wrapped around her head, acting more like a helmet. This anger incarnate would come out of a hole, covered in black goo. If she saw Henryk, she would start to charge at him.

How the heck they switched eluded him...not quite having the time to remember she could switch places between people. Especially when you were discombobulated from being in the air one moment, and then safely on the ground the next. So he just stared, utterly lost, up as Ora seemed to change while holding onto the lancer. He saw a red and black aura begin to radiate from her... and then things got very violent. She was pretty nimble and moved quick, swung onto its back and... ripped off its wings. "Overkill... Cool... But so much overkill." He said in a low voice from shock. He heard from her that she killed before... but seeing it was a different story. With its wings gone it began a fall down.... "ORA!" He yelled as he ran after the falling duo, though much slower. He was worried if she was alright, temporarily forgetting about the aura she had. Or not really caring. He wanted to know if she was ok. But as he came upon the crash site... He sort of wished he stayed back. Ora was there... How she was in a crater, black goo from the impact with none of the lancer really left...and her aura was as intense as ever. Her horns were covering her head like a helmet...and then she looked to him. "Ora... are you o-" He began to say before she saw him charge at him. He was confused, was something behind him? He turned around and looked, seeing nothing before looking back... and seeing her headed right for him. "Ora? Ora... ORA!?" He began to say as she did not seem at all like she was going to stop... not knowing what to do Henryk turned and ran. "Ahhh!" He yelled as he ran for his life. ✘ Post count: 54 ▄ ▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄ ▄ OOC: I'm so glad you are ok- s**t s**t s**t I'M NOT A GRIMM!
Sakura blinks in surprise when the Grimm suddenly flies up high in the air...taking Oswald with it. Sakura takes a deep breath, doing her best to formulate a new plan. She wishes she had the rest of her team here with her. She's not exactly the type of person who is good with long ranged combat. Well, she has Grunhilde but she could never reach as high as that Grimm is flying unless she could get to a higher point. But that seems kind of impossible at the moment for her as she's a human. But the one who does seem to be well suited for long ranged combat is...that guy. Sakura slowly looks over to him and squints. She doesn't want to work with him. She doesn't like being told what to do by people who weren't her teachers. And she certainly doesn't like know-it-alls like this guy. But she has to work with him or Oswald is going to fall from a very dangerous height. "Oswald, hold on!" Can he even hear her from that height? Probably not. Sakura goes over to the guy and begins relaying her idea of a plan to him. She holds out her weapon to him. "We need a way to bring the creature lower to the ground. Is your aim any good? Would you be able to hit the creature's wings I know hitting moving targets is hard but could you please try?" She hopes Oswald is holding in there. He didn't want this to turn into a horror movie moment where they thought the monster was dead only to have it kill them. He liked living... and ice cream.. and pizza... shaking his head he took a deep breath. Satisfied, he would pick her up slowly, unused to carrying heavy weights. Even if she was without her armor, and even if his body could handle it, he was not exactly holding her in the most optimal way. "Please don't wake up while i'm doing this..." He said aloud with worry as he began taking her back to beacon... tripping once or twice as her body would land on top of and pin him... taking an embarrassingly long time to get her off of him, pick her up, and resume. The man watched as the griffin flew high with the man, having taken a a glancing hit. He was quick to ready another knife as the creature began to ascend faster than he could aim. His rusted blade seemed to be wanting to draw blood as his scarlet eyes focused, examining the griffin and noting that the feathers may be strong against bludgeoning, yet they fail against his blade. Yet, to make the beast stop ascending as fast as possible was a good priority to have, but then Sakura approached him and she seemed to have regret doing so as she had to tell him. His eyes looked at her before in his raspy voice he responded with, "You ask me a question akin of if a human can breathe." His knife soon turned into a hand crossbow as he took aim, the weapon already loaded with a bolt. He adjusted his aim for any further ascent by the griffin as he fired. The hand crossbow's string slammed forth, shooting the bolt at a descent angle, yet whether or not the bolt was faster than a flying griffin remained to be seen.
What was worse though... was his weapon was an iconic weapon to anyone who was from Atlas... a stolen knife to crossbow weapon that belonged to a dead man.

The situation they ended up in pissed Scylla off. They had come from dancing and were having some fun and were interrupted. Some goons decided to follow them back from the club. By this point she threw her long shirt on and still had her bikini bottom on. Picking up her Guitar she would smash it with some impressive strength into the thug being somewhat held down by Hades's pet. The spikes on the guitar would smash against him or an aura shield if he got it up in time. "I'm going to murder you all, you bastards. You ruined everything and now you are going to pay. " Her words came out harsh like a vipers. She was clearly serious about killing them all.

Grabbed, the talons piercing into his skin, he would be dragged away. A voice coming over the area as he was taken away. Now now Mr. Hades. XXXAs both the noble huntsmen were eager to get going, neither of them would make haste in terms of walking and talking to get to the outskirts. It was more of a task to get outside of city limits than one might think, given the ongoing festivities that crowded every street corner and tried to draw them in. Of course, this didn't come without first Garret taking yet another stab of a tease in her direction. For them, it was a constant battle of glancing blows, each with a confident or cocky smile to catch the other off guard. In this circumstance and this one alone, though, Garret had managed to get the upper hand. The winter-locked faunus had gotten a hair ahead of herself, but could only shake her head lightly with a smile before dismissing the matter entirely with an admitting remark. "After doing office work all day, I'm sure you'd be just as eager to stretch your legs." With her gloves slipped over her hand once again and her rings in place, she'd curl her fist and nod. She was just as ready as ever, if not more so with Garret at her side. She had every intention to share this inkling of hers, though it was more of an educational course on Lioncourt history in her eyes. All things considered, her inkling may have been trivial at best, but any information was better than being a dream chaser. "I'd like that, if you have the time and an ear to share. I'd like to hear what you've been up to all this time, as well." She said with a faint smile and a brief pause in her words. "I was hoping to see more of you at Beacon, being the Courier.." Her tone almost seemed... Disheartened, the curve of her smile dropping ever so slightly. .. Now, why did she say that? Almost instantly, she shook her head, as if to dismiss whatever train of thought led to those words. It was silly of her to think that way. Unlike her, he wasn't a student. He had a duty to uphold, a family name to maintain, and a world to keep safe one Grimm at a time. "Maybe we'll make up for lost time. It's a long walk there, and just as much back." She'd nod and follow his gesture, letting the smile tug at her lips again.
Despite what festivities were bustling in the city of Vale, the outskirts seemed as peaceful and serene as ever. Aside from heightened foot traffic that tarnished the trails of transit towards the city, the forest dressed cliffside remained ever so quiet. Truly, it was the place to be when one sought an escape from it all, whether or not a grimm lurked right around the corner. Following the passageways, though lowkey letting Garret lead the way to where he left off, it gave Yui to cultivate her thoughts a bit more. "So... You mentioned seeing my family crest somewhere in the outskirts?" She inquired curiously, passing her pale blue gaze in his direction. It wasn't a question she necessarily needed an answer to, as whether or not he replied, she intended to continue. "My family... It wasn't always grounded to our estate, and rarely stayed so. Especially before it became so renowned. Many of us were known to travel, letting our wings take us to where the world needed us most. Be it across Vale, or Remnant as a whole." She paused, letting the trickles of information settle in. Unlike many families, hers was one that sought to spread its presence all across the world. Not to hold a position of power, but to find a place where they belonged, to fit into a larger puzzle and aid in this crumbling world they faced together. That was part of what caused them to achieve such a renowned status because so many excellent huntsmen across Remnant descended from the same bloodline. "Because of that, they often marked places of importance with our crest. Be it a memorial, a bunker, or even a training ground. Some of which have become places of myth, even among the family." With her words, her steps slowed down. Something seemed to spark in her gaze... As if a lost memory had rekindled, bringing itself to light. "Like the Garden my mother once mentioned. Swallowed by the sea of Remnant, said only to reveal itself to those who were ready to bear their very souls to the Ceremony of Lions." .. The Ceremony, something her mother had always left in vague detail but seemed related to the gemcraft she practiced on her when she stepped out of line. A lost reference in their family history, a legend that had to stem from somewhere. But, that wasn't why they were here. That wasn't what they were looking for.
Recentering herself, she'd pick up the pace, hastening her steps to keep up with wherever Garret had intended to take them. "Logically speaking, you might've encountered a sign of one of our abandoned sites in your travels, and now for some reason are relapsing on the memory. Perhaps because it's now something you recognize." Truthfully, these abandoned sites were never something she thought much about, knowing a majority of that was in her family's past. Especially after their numbers had dwindled, it became a rumor in her shrinking family that the White Crows had been hunting for the presence of these crests to find them. But, that was always a rumor and many of their disappearances had happened with witnesses present. It seemed so unlikely, and with Garret, in particular, being drawn to such a sight, she doubted the correlation even more. "Could you recall anything else from your dream? A particular path, a clearing? A number of trees or stones, or something that looked out of place?" She paused, realizing that her bombardment of questions for further detail may have been a bit too overbearing. She had to step back, focus on deeper detail than random luck of the draw. ".. Could you tell what the crest was imprinted on?"

It was rare either of them ever got a definite victory; usually it would go back and forth with no clear winner. A never ending rise in competition. As she shook her head with a smile and spoke, he would nod in response. "True, I would be eager to do something more physical after such a day. Thankfully, the outskirts are always full of Grimm to relieve that desire." He would respond truthfully. While he was not an impatient person, desk work was not something he enjoyed and would like to stretch his legs so to say after such a day. Its why he liked his current job so; the freedom to leave and seek out grimm whenever he desired, while still performing his duties. It worked out well for him, as Beacon tended to have many missions of such offered to them. As they walked, she would say she liked to hear what he had been up to and share what she had been up to as well if he had the time for it. After she paused she would speak again only this time...her tone seemed to shift. She would say she had hoped to see more of him at beacon given his job, trailing off as she seemed disheartened. Garret briefly wondered why she did, even as she shook her head quickly after, save perhaps they tended to always enjoy each others company yet it was few and far between they interacted with one another. She would say they could make up for lost time, given the length of the journey. Garret let a smile cross his lips, but internally he was thinking on her words a bit more. As they walked, the city full of people for the festivities, he let his eyes wander a bit. Seeing that, even amongst the celebrations, there were still the poor and the homeless on the streets. This festival was in part to help them as well, thankfully, but he was never quite sure if it was enough. And with each passing one he saw, a stray thought always crossed his mind. 'Were they from Vacuo like myself?' The thought always unbidden. He had never considered himself a lucky person, but he could not help but see how well he did for himself while others had no such luck. He would shake such thoughts from his mind though, and instead focus on current company. He could always try to rectify those other matters in future, as this was a celebration in a way. And to him, the best kind of celebration involved fighting. "We shall definitely make up for lost time today. In truth, despite being the courier, my job extends to much more than that. I am a grimm hunter first and foremost; it was something Aurtrox and I agreed to when I first started at the academy." He would say seriously, though even as he finished it sounded a bit like an excuse to him. And he was not one to make such things, nor did he want to. "But it is not that I didn't desire to see you again or consider hunting more important. Life has just been very busy where free time is scarce these past few months. While I have my independence, I also owe Aurtrox a great deal. I have been out on missions for much of these past three months, missions that I could not delay on." He would admit truthfully with a slight sigh. Trusting her enough to reveal such things, even if only vaguely for now. Primarily due to the area they were in with how crowded it was; once out of the city, or somewhere more private, he may reveal more details of him being a Courier.
After a bit of time, they would find the sounds of festivities fading and the urban landscape replaced by one of forest. Numerous footfalls had reinforced and trampled the paths by the city walls, but as they continued walking they would see less and less as nature fought to restore said paths. It was a stark contrast to the hustle and bustle they were in before; despite the danger of grimm, the outskirts was for now a peaceful place, and shaded the traveling duo as they walked the old paths. Garret had slightly taken the lead, having been semi-familiar to a point where the dream was supposed to lead. Though he still remained near Dove. It was more a subconscious action by him than anything. Dove would be the first to break the silence, asking about him mentioning her family crest. "In my dreams, yes. Though when I tried seeking out the spot before, I could not find it. Instead, I found another warrior on the hunt and some beowolves." He would respond simple, keeping the same pace, as he turned his head back slightly so one eye could look to her. Referencing his encounter with Kai in the forest, though feeling no need to elaborate more for now.She would explain how her family was not always relegated to her estate, but instead went far and wide. Explaining how they would go where needed most. Immediately, Garret had a recollection of something mentioned in past. He forgot if it was by her or from another source, but he did have a vague remembrance; primarily due to his dreams. Of a Lioncourt who sought out the Reveley's for a fight, the result neither Dove nor himself knew. As she paused, he would fill in the gap slightly. "I seem to recall rumor of a Lioncourt going to challenge a Reveley; a match I hope to learn the results of one day." He would say, adding to the explanation that the Lioncourts were once widespread. Given Vacuo was no short journey; back then and at present. She would then explain how that they would mark places of importance with the crest, with some places being myth to even her own family of existing. It seemed there may be something more going on here, at least Garret thought. 'Am I being lured to a fight or a secret?' He wondered to himself, assuming his relation with Dove was not one well known primarily due to the infrequency of their time together. It was an interesting notion to think he was being led to some place of importance for his fight; that such locations were almost myth. He would see a strange spark in her eyes as she continued, talking about a garden where the ceremony of lions was performed. A ceremony that required souls, from a place lost to the sea. It was an interesting mention that Garret desired to learn more of, but for another time.
Dove's step would quicken as she would come up to him now, saying that he may have come across the signs and not realized it till now. His subconscious guiding his attention back to them at some point in his travels. It was not a far fetched claim, giving how much time he spent in the outskirts. His own thought of a match between the Lioncourts and Reveleys of old perhaps, though he was unsure why it was manifesting itself so strongly. He felt much more like something was calling him than his own curiosity. She would fire a rapid series of questions on what he could recall, before seeming to think better of it and instead asking what the crest was imprinted on. Garret would continue walking but...noticeably slow his pace as he was in thought, trying to remember his dreams. He would shake his head, to try and clear and organize his thoughts. "I shall start from the beginning. It's been some time so...some details have faded and others more pronounced. But before the scenery, before the crest, I saw a man with white wings and white hair. He sported a lance for a weapon, and clearly seemed a warrior. Wings much like your own. I remember my first thought being, upon waking and in the dream, of the Lioncourt that went to challenge the Reveleys." He would say before pausing, revealing part of the reason he had recalled that same one earlier. He would go silent, trying to sort his thoughts, before continuing. "At first, it seemed like an indistinguishable spot in the outskirts where I could not even tell if I had seen it before. But then...some details began to appear, more prominently after I had seen the Lioncourt. It was a large clearing in the woods, the trees seeming to encircle an area with knee high grass but dared not grow on it, and a open.... almost ring in the center of it. The ring having no grass or vegetation whatsoever. There seemed to be...rocks, but not disorganized stone. They seemed almost...like destroyed pillars encircling the ring. A path, almost entirely erased by nature, had led up to it. And..." He would say, seeming to be more in his mind than aware of the world around him as he described it to the best of his ability. He was still searching for the crest as he looked back in his memories, remembering knowing it was there, seeing it...but trying to pin exactly where. "That's where I saw it. When looking past the figure and above...the crest, the outline of it at least, seemed to be the space in the tree canopy from which the clearing was formed. As if the trees had been manipulated to have such a crest visible from the skies, were never to grow over it, but also be noticeable from the ground." He would finish, now actually aware of his surroundings and looking to Dove as he described where he saw the crest. He hoped his answer could perhaps help with insight of what they were headed towards.

XXXDespite her once disheartened tone, she kept her pace matching that of Garret. It was never her intention to put him in a spot of bother where he needed to explain himself, though, she had found herself curious of what his line of work exactly intelled. First and foremost, of course, was being the first line of defense against the grimm. Something that she sought to be herself, for the people who could not muster the strength to do so themselves. "I wouldn't expect anything less from Vacuo's finest." She said confidently, giving him a nod. Even if it seemed almost dismissive, an excuse to get away from the subject. Though again, she felt as if she put him in a position that he felt a need to explain himself. ... That wasn't something that she had desired, nor meant to instill, and it left a bitter feeling. Her gaze, once facing forward, would pan to look at the ongoings of the festival. Truthfully she was expecting to diverge their attention from the conversation. But, he continued, to her surprise, causing her pale blue orbs to dart back to him. It didn't hurt to hear the clarification. It wasn't avoidance or consideration of value, just... A matter of timing and priorities, a circumstance she could surely understand. "I apologize, I didn't mean..." .. Was it something really worth interrupting him for, apologizing for? His response was very mattered of fact but appeared as if there was more to share, whether he wanted to or intended to. But, there was so much at hand, and so many people around... Perhaps this wasn't the best place, nor the time. Following his sigh, she shook her head lightly and turned her gaze forward. "I understand, Garret. Certain matters take priority, and I have no doubt in the importance of the task you attend. Keep to the deeds you're meant to uphold." That's what it meant to be a huntsman, and adult that wasn't bound by the restrictions of the academy. At the same time, though, he found himself bound by a prior obligation. That, and the weight of his spear to attend to what he must. Which, was that more restrictive than that of the academy walls? "I suppose that's where attending the academy and attending to a profession differ. Matters have been busy for both of us, but at the academy, downtime comes in greater quantities and lacks a certain urgency." Yui found countless ways to keep herself busy during the downtime between classes, but none of it truly held any weight. Certainly no more urgency a student should experience. No, not until she descended into Alpha Cave. .. Was that remotely close to what he had to endure for these many months? "But even so, I wish to have done more with my time at the academy, but I seem to find myself spending much of it in recovery more than in the field." Now that it was laid out in black and white for her, it was jarring how true that was. It was beginning to feel as if she spent half her time, if not more, in the infirmary. Be it exhaustion and abuse from her time at home or the assault at the ball. To the semblance fiasco that caused her wings to attack her, or the selfless sacrifice on the large scale mission. Every action she did meet an opposing reaction that put her out of commission. "But. That's neither here nor there. To get hung up on such matters would be to take away from the task at hand."
So as they drifted further into the Outskirts, Garret began to touch on a few details in question. A confirmation that he saw her crest in his dreams, but was unable to turn up anything in the waking world. It seemed rather, he always came across some obstacle, be it grimm or man, and that would take away from his search. If the place they sought really was a place of Lioncourt myth, it surely wasn't meant to be found easily. But, it was that which made the quest all the more tantalizing to embark on. Coaxed by the echoes of dreams, to relish in the curiosity of the unknown. One that had him particularly pegged when he shared his recollection of a rumor between their two families, one that was reminiscent for her. That rumor, that Lioncourt, were the first things that came to mind when Garret had introduced himself. "His name was Videl Monroe ce Lioncourt, the Unyielding Spear. One of my Great Uncles. My mother once told me he rose to any challenge, opposing them with his own. He earned the name Ehre, to represent honor." It was impossible for her to shake that sense of familiarity in her memory. After all, it was just a short while ago that they referenced that very day. "I believe I briefly told you of him when we first met, after learning of your heritage. Like you, I too wonder, even if it was lost to the test of time. In fact, I did do a bit of research on him, but those details still elude me." It was one of the many reasons she had returned to her family's library, while also in the search for books for Azura. The turnout was rather disappointing, but she hadn't felt closer to her Uncle's memory than that moment.
Rapid questions of vague detail wouldn't have gotten them anywhere. That became very apparent with the hesitation in Garret's response until she narrowed it down to something far more simple. Simple, but effective. ... One that seemed to draw so much to remember that even Garret's disposition shifted, his pace slowing as his attempt to recall became more visible in his features. It began with a dream, a dream of a white-winged warrior like he had mentioned prior. But, even now, more details revealed than when he mentioned it in passing. It reminded him of the tale of Videl, the Lioncourt that sought a duel with a Reveley. Something that she now oddly had in common with a passed family member that she never had the privilege of meeting. But then the details became more clear. With less focus on the winged warrior, he started to explain the scenery that surrounded them. A large clearing isolated in the woods, one that even mother nature seemed dare not to tread. Instead, withering to the test of time.
There was... Something familiar about it. "I feel that if the Lioncourt created this place, as a sanctum or not, it itself would have to be a challenge to reach." A place of isolation lost in the forest of Vale. One prominent to those who stood within, but appeared to elude those who sought tall tales. "To have a clearing like that hidden away in a veil of trees, it would have to be far from where people would pass willingly." She paused briefly, trying to recall a place directly in veil that even remotely matched such a description. There were plenty of places in the world that had been lost and unventured, but Vale, though at constant war with the Grimm, was a place she was uncertain of. Perhaps if it was closer to one of the lost lands were others rarely ventured. "Actually... It could be like that of the far south, where the roads are reclaimed by nature and travelers dare not tread without reason." Even in the past Yui knew that the deep forest that grew on the border of Vale and Vacuo was not to be taken lightly. Traveling so far from civilization, Grimm concealed in the depths of the forest that may have never been traveled. "The far outskirts have become ruthless in recent years, though I doubt I have to tell you that." She mused at him, her tone carrying the faintest sense of a tease, though it barely lingered. Her mind as elsewhere, for good reason. She continued to mull over the details Garret shared with her. An untouched center ring, surrounded by what remained of stone pillars, but the path itself had been erased by nature itself that dared not touch the site. Could it be that nature itself held an inkling of respect for whatever this Lioncourt monument was? Feared it? Or defied it? "If your dreamscapes are accurate, that too would explain why the path was erased to the test of time." But.. What could it mean to have a crest visible from both the earth and sky, as if nature itself had brought it to creation, but abandoned it? How was it created, and was her own instinct of pursuing a challenge as a Lioncourt the right lead to follow in this search? Truly, Yui wish she could've seen what Garret had experienced first hand. Perhaps if that was the case, perhaps if she could truly see through his eyes, she'd have more. .. Instead though, a quiet sigh escaped her lips as she turned her gaze upwards. "Truly, it seems as aimless of a lead as they come. Wandering into Grimm ridden territory, following instincts I have of my bygone family while chasing your dreams." She stated rather plainly, almost doubtful. Choosing instead to put their options in a very blunt fashion out on the table. That was their handful of cards, and that was all she could muster as a suggestion for them to go. .. Yet, despite how hopeless and open-ended their options were, Yui found herself shrugging her shoulders. "But. I've also had worse odds in my favor. Alone, in a cave, after essentially setting myself ablaze. Here, we're in a forest, I'm not burning, and I can use we instead of I. So in that regard, I find it rather inviting." Her tone noticeably picked up following her next statement, a sense of confidence resonating in her town as her pale blue gaze fell on Garret again. With it, a faint but rather confident smirk. But, that we only worked if he too was in agreement. It would be pointless to go chasing someone else's dreams. Yui would know, she was raised all her life to chase someone else's dream. Metaphorically, of course. In this sense, they were quite literally chasing dreams.

Both from it, and if Kai had heard such a thing as he could already imagine the bark. But he knew it to be genuine when from her; as far as he knew, they both were always truthful with their words. Though her reaction to his explaining why he had not seen her confused him slightly; primarily her apologizing but never quite finishing the sentence for why. He let it go though, and was more curious what she felt the need to apologize for as he honestly did not know. She would continue to say she understood, and that he should keep to the deeds he was meant to uphold. He would merely nod to that, as it was apart of him. He always upheld his word, or always tried to. Even if it took far too long to make good on some of them. He felt there was something of importance there though, some unspoken issue, but given where they were he would let that past. Their journey may be long, so they had time to discuss things in less public areas. She would go on to say on how that may be where it was different for them; academy life and that of a profession. It was true, at least in his case, the academy more often than not gave greater downtime and lacked the urgency of his usual job. Though it was also the nature of the work too; while there was certainly activity in the school, it was much reduced compared to his hunts where he was often moving. She would then comment on spending much of her time in recovery rather than on the field. Garret would look to her curiously, having not known this of her. 'What could she get into so often to cause that?' He wondered to himself. While she would say that was neither here nor there, Garret would make sure to speak of this later. It seems there was much he did not know of Dove yet, and he hoped to rectify it.
As they walked in the outskirts and he mentioned the tale, Dove would clarify it as being Videl Monroe de Lioncourt, known as the unyielding spear. A title he hoped to match one day with his own prowess in deeds, even if it may not be the same as that one. The title alone made him wish he could've faced him in combat, and especially to know more about him. Dove recounted how she was told he rose to any challenge and opposed them with his own. Even earning a name that meant honor, though Garret was curious who bestowed such a name to the man. She would then say she thought she was the one to have told him, which made sense, after learning of his own heritage...but was unfortunately unable to learn more than that. Which was understandable. History unfortunately was lost very easy, despite the great accomplishments one could do in their life. It was a reason he also desired to see his families old library; to learn more of the history of his own family and his own blood, since Vale had been lacking. But that was for the far future, or so it seemed for now. He would then go on to recount the place he had seen it. hoping it was more familiar to Dove than it had been to himself. Even if it was a long-shot since he knew the outskirts better than most others could claim. She would say how if it was created by her family, as a sanctum or no, they would make it a challenge to reach. And for his own description give, it would have to be far away from where anyone traveled...though that unfortunately narrowed things down very little. She would pause, before suggesting it may be in the far outskirts; a journey far removed from Garret's usual travels. It would make sense as to why he had not come across it, when he had surprisingly found he could glean a lot of details from his dream.
She would then say how the far outskirts have become ruthless, but she doubted she had to tell him that with the faintest tease in her voice. Not one to let the challenge go unanswered, he would respond. "For now at least. They fear to come any closer to Vale with warriors like you or myself." He said with his usual arrogance, though rather than try to make himself better...he did consider themselves both warriors of skill. He could tell though, even as she finished, her mind was focused more on the details of their current mission. Saying how if his dreams-cape was accurate, it would explain why the paths were lost to time. She would then, after a pause, go on to say it seemed an aimless lead; going into grimm infested territory off of a dream and tales from her family. Garret though saw it differently, as he only smiled at that. But he would wait, and let her continue. She would say she had worse odds against her, alone in a cave and on fire...something Garret would have to ask later. But also now that it was we rather than I...she liked the idea more, her mood picking up and confidence in her voice. Her pale blue gaze would fall on him, with a faint yet confident smirk to her lips. Garret smiled in turn as he would respond. "Perhaps, but are not most tales of valor and victory and adventure based on such things? A quest into the perilous unknown, with the only certainty you have is that there will be danger? It seems the perfect quest for a dove to spread her wings, and for a spear to find the challenge it so desperately desires. " He would ask rather passionately and confidently. It may be a discouraging thing to most, but not to Garret. He saw it as another challenge to be conquered, a step to the eventual victory. He would scarcely pause before continuing. "If you are willing to brave further, I would be glad to. I have been eager to see the Dove spread her wings ever since our first encounter. As of yet, I have not had the privilege of fighting besides you." He would say with a smile to her, showing he was willing to continue and to fight alongside her. He would add on, almost as an after thought, a slight tease. "Assuming you can keep up with me, that is. I hope all that time in bed at the academy has not dulled the fire and ability I saw in our volleyball match, or when we won the ball together. After all, what is impossible odds to wills that will not relent but another obstacle to be overcome?" While jesting lightly, he was hoping to continue to light the fire in her. Their mutual desire to be better, to do better, by competing with one another. He truly did believe in her ability from their time together. And that together, nothing could stand in their way.

XXXThere it was. A certain respectable charm hinted in his own tone of arrogance. Surely Garret was never one to back down from a challenge, whether in words or to take up arms. Many others would hammer the steel as well, but there was a sense of respect within his own pride that talked up herself. By no means had she intended it that way, but his phrasing did cause her smile to curl more. She teased but became very pleased. It was but a minor change in her attitude as she continued to speak her mind, elaborating on the details that were presented to them. It appeared that this act of chasing dreams had far more dangers ahead than either of them had anticipated. Yet, that made the very concept all the more welcoming. Though, somewhere in the back of her mind, something screamed a sense of familiarity. Where a team she became acquainted with just recently were chasing phantoms, now she and Garret were chasing dreams. Surely there was no correlation.
Where her passion was dull, merely a kindling of what it could be, Garret seemed ready to gas it up without hesitation. It seemed that all of those around her had a different way of engaging her, of egging her on and bringing the best out of her in the moment. Professor Schuer, taking to softly kindle the dying embers with the emotional support that was harshly neglected in her upbringing. Her team and students around her by relying on her capability, drawing out more in her ability so that she could help them become the best that they could be. The Headmaster himself, Aurtrox, by encouraging her to follow her heart and do what she believed was right, despite the adversaries that stood in her way, whatever altercation was to come. They all challenged her mind, body, and soul. And then there was Garret, who was as much a friend as a rival. He teased her but encouraged her. Challenged her capability, but instilled confidence that she couldn't simply ignore. He fed into the best qualities that she emitted naturally, which was challenged and nurtured in her upbringing. Not only that, though, he always challenged her to go further beyond. Where there was a wall, he knew that she could soar higher, while his spear could pierce the mightest defense. That alone was conveyed in his words of a tale of adventure, of valor. While she needed to be kindled to get there, the two of them were undeniably one in the same in what they sought and desired. He ignited her passion. That was certain as her posture straightened, her wings perking up and her pale blue gaze fixed on that of brilliant gold. She had no intention to speak, to interrupt. Only listen as a smirk of confidence trailed across her lips until he was done.
It was at his personal jab at her that her winter white lashes fell shut, the woman softly shaking her head. Noticeably, the silver rings on her fingers began to glow brighter, as if ready to draw an ember weapon on a whim. She could feel it, confidence and passion that once smoldered bursting into a raging inferno. "I thought you would've known by now, Garret. Every time I fall, I rise from the ashes. Not even Beacon's walls can contain a dove reborn as a phoenix." That, perhaps, was one of the cockiest things that had ever come across her mind. With her words, she'd open her eyes to first look upwards towards the sky, a subconscious symbolism for her taking new flight. Then, directly at Garret. This time, though the color remained pale, her brows had narrowed and her eyes seemed brighter. Any dull exterior of a doll that she naturally presented had crumbled, worn away by a newly ignited presence that was the 'Dove' Garret knew. Truthfully under normal circumstances, she never saw her capabilities in such a light. But after these recent events, with their interactions, her mission, and her most recent battle, you could surely leave ti to Garret to pull out a sense of confidence from her experiences. Even if it was just feeding into his own jesting. "And neither will a perilous journey such as this. Perhaps your dreams reflect on lost history, but what is history but to be rewritten with a new tale that the next generation can look back upon?" It was a bold claim, but, that's what it was all about. Right? They both had their battles to win, and victories to tell. Right now, they were chasing a mystery of the Lioncourt's past that kept into the realm of dreams. Perhaps it was happening for a reason. Whatever was bringing them here, it was history wanting to be retold by that of a newer generation. And with the circumstance at hand, such a perilous journey could really test the extent of their capabilities. The valor of Vacuo's finest, and the sole heiress to the Lioncourt name. There truly couldn't have been a better duo to head into the unknown. "I've been just as eager to see your spear first hand, be it against my own embers or against just as worthy of an adversary. Perhaps it's time for you to tie the score; if I recall, we're still 2 to 1." Now there was no mistaking Yui's mused smile, confident, but traced with his own familiar arrogance as she counter jested. Where he strived to ignite her passion once again, she'd take less subtle jabs at his competitive nature to get both of them going. She claimed victory in the volleyball tournament, and together they conquered all on the dance floor. Perhaps whatever awaited them, be it an innumerable amount of grimm or a greater mystery, they could balance the score. With that, she'd lightly flap her wings forward as a motion to move. With a sway of her head, she'd begin to take steps forward. "Southward bound, then? Until the trail is reclaimed by nature, then further beyond?" She'd inquire, though truthfully she had never been to the southern reaches of Vale's outskirts. She had never had a reason to go so far from Vale, aside from the soul mission she'd been on.

From their relation, it had always been surprisingly simple to light such a fire in one another. He wasn't quite sure why, or how, only that it was the way of things between them. Dove also being one of the very few he hadn't truly tried to drive away, as even when he first met her he could not do so oddly enough. He was glad though that he had not truly tried to. 'I would have missed a worthy warrior and good company.' He silently noted to himself. It was also for such reasons that he could not, would not, let her fire die while he was around. He would always strive to stoke it from ember to flame; from a caged dove to one who set her wings free. He saw her posture straighten, wingers perk up, and her eyes fixated on his own. And the smirk of confidence across her lips. 'Good. A warrior does not give up because of unfavorable odds. They rise to fight; be it if battle ends in victory or defeat, a warrior never shirks away from their duty or a obstacle in their path.' He thought to himself, much his own philosophy. That didn't mean he didn't know when retreat was needed but...if there was ever a chance, he would take it most times. As he finished, his jab at her infirmary time she claimed to have spent so much of school in seemed to have hit the mark as her lashes fell shut and she softly shook her head. He noticed her silver rings begin to glow brighter as well. 'And so the Dove awakens.' He thought to himself silently in satisfaction. Her response was probably the most arrogant thing he had ever heard her say before, catching him in minor surprise with a smile growing on his lips too. Glad to hear the confidence in her voice, even if he may have pushed it a bit to cockiness for once. She would say he should know that every time she fell, she rose from the ashes. That beacon's walls could not contain a dove reborn as a phoenix. Garret's smile was full on now but not in usual arrogance; more of in pride and satisfaction to her words. He would see her look up to the sky first, wondering if it were for thoughts of spreading her wings, and then her eyes would meet his again. While the eye color remained the same, her brow had narrowed and her eyes seemed to have a brighter energy to them.
She would continue then, adding on to how a perilous journey could not stop a phoenix, and that while his dreams reflected on lost history it was merely a chance to make a new tale to go down in history. Garret rather liked the idea of that, of doing something worth being recorded in history books. Both as the last heir of the Reveleys and as a warrior by spirit. "Well said Dove; it shall be the first of many new tales left in the wake of Phoenix and Spear." He would say with a touch of his usual arrogance, but also sincerity there. Perhaps a bit preemptive given this would be their first true combat together, but he was confident in it. What else could a warrior with a lust for battle and glory and honor hope to do besides go down in history for accomplishing great feats? He knew little else for himself personally, even if Vacuo would hopefully be a part of that legacy. She would then go on to say she had been just as eager to face, or fight besides, his spear and that she was currently in the lead in their match. Garret sighed softly and shook his head at her mention of that, but a smile remained curled on his lips. It was true she had the lead on him; the dance was their shared victory, but the volleyball match when they first met was her victory. He was still behind by one, even if it was hard to think that after so much time they had so little matches between them. 'Though I suppose we made up for that with the intensity of the matches.' He thought to himself, a nice consolation at the least. He could see his confidence mirrored in her smile at her reminder of the score between them. A confident smile crossing his own lips. "I intend to do more than merely tie the score Dove. With Grimm likely and a challenge at the end, I may end up taking the lead between us. After all, the dance and volleyball was that of school activities. We are now in my domain of the outskirts." He would say with an arrogant smirk, and while he lightly hinted perhaps she had an advantage it was obviously only jests in return. Noticing her lightly flapping her wings forward and a sway of her head as she began to speak, Garret would fall into step besides her as he listened. She would ask of their direction, just to be certain they were still to be on this path or so Garret thought. Smiling, eyes full of a competitive fire, he would nod. "It seems that is where our journey shall take us Dove. It may be long and now that we are alone...May I hear the tale of you burning in a cave? I know it is easy to light your fire, but I've never quite seen you fully in flame before." He would say simply, starting off serious...before going back to light teasing and curiosity. Legitimately wanting to know the story and now that they had a long journey, he figured they could tell each other some of their stories as well. If she asked for any stories, he had a few in mind he could tell as well. Regardless though, Garret was already moving a bit faster as he teased her. While a patient person normally...they had a long journey, and he was looking forward to the goal as much as he was the journey itself. While relaxed with pleasant company, he kept his eyes and senses alert in case any Grimm decided they would be easy prey.

XXXYui was pleased hearing that Garret liked the sound of her statement. It was another common ground they shared as both a warrior and a warrior to be. He was the last heir of his family, while she was the heiress to her own. In an ideal world, both of them were destined to accomplish great things. To add to the tale that both of their family names had written, and to better yet, be reflected upon for those deeds. She, in particular, liked the sound of his mentioned tale of Phoenix and Spear. It had a nice ring to it, personalized to both their ideals. Matching his own sincerity mixed with arrogance, she'd keep a smile curled against her lips though continued with her words. She hadn't been entirely sure how drawing an old reference to their scores would impact him, only thinking briefly how the context differed between then and now. To her pleasant surprise, he met it with his own contextual challenge. While she may have held the lead in their tales of the academy, they were now in his domain. Something that, to her dismay, until recently had been completely foreign to her. Truly, their relationship had been defined by an array of choice remarks and jests that both challenged and encouraged one another. This one, in particular, had caused her pale orbs to roll, almost dismissively, but in reality, she was all about it. He was right, after all. Here was entirely different, but she remained confident in both of their capabilities. So much so that she'd revise their challenge. "I'll give you that, Garret. We're in your domain now, and so the slate should be wiped clean. Now that would make it even more interesting, wouldn't it?" She'd inquire, both with a mix of confidence and amusement. With their jesting, it seemed that their newest challenge had unofficially begun. Unfortunately, it began with what appeared to be an endless journey into the unknown. Something that, albeit time-consuming on foot, she welcomed with the right company.
With the newest foot of their journey underway, the two would walk together side-by-side. Garret would be the first to break any semblance of silence before it became a habit, commenting on the length of the journey but quickly changing the subject to something specific. Yui would turn a curious gaze towards his inquiry, though a pleasant little smile crossed her lips as he returned to his playful nature with her. It was nice to walk with someone as equals, especially after how the past few months had been for her. He had been curious about her ongoings in life, as well as certain details she had hinted at without little context. With his tease, his steps had hastened, and so too would she adjust to match his speed. So... Where was she supposed to start with this? Her gaze had broken away from him as he kept his attention alert to ongoings around them. She could tell by the way his eyes had shifted, and she too would do the same. ... Only after looking at her right hand for a moment, thinking about the intensity of the burns that lied beneath it. "Truth be told, I had never seen it either." She admitted, almost as if she was confused. She could tackle the story head-on about how she nearly burned herself to a crisp and was left with a permanent mark. But... There was more to it, there was context. While he asked for a tale about her burning in a cave, there were actually two. Curling her fingers into a tight, but trembling fist, she diverted her attention to their surroundings like he had. "My team was tasked to aid in the recent Expedition Mission. You may have heard details of it from the Headmaster. There were two squads, Alpha and Omega. Each assigned with four teams. I was apart of Squad Alpha, to investigate the large cavern that had unearthed in Vale. Our squad, in particular, were all students. Whereas Omega got the aid from Professor Anderson and a military droid. Being students, they bickered like such. But, we kept it together. .. Mostly." She paused for a moment, thinking briefly back to the continuous altercations between Auburn and Prince. ... Something that had apparently persisted throughout the duration of the cavern expedition, even after the groups were split apart. The two of them just weren't capable of seeing eye to eye, and it appeared that Prince had no issue abandoning his team for his own survival. ... Something that opposed every aspect of her own views and actions in the cavern.
"It didn't take long for everything to unravel, though. An hour or so into the expedition, there was an explosion and half of the cavern had collapsed. My team and another were swallowed by the cave. We were cut off from the world. From there... It didn't take long for the grimm to find us. An endless sea of ravagers, and a reckless teammate who in her attempt to aid us ended up disabling one of our own. It was... Most unfortunate." She said rather reluctantly. Truthfully she had been disappointed in the actions of some of her teammates on the mission, as well as the overall unity and teamwork they displayed as a whole. If she had been more informed about Skylar's abilities, and if Skylar had known about her team's disabilities, perhaps the tribulations that occurred in the Collapse wouldn't have gone so far south. She... Never did get to properly reconvene with Ren after it all happened, as if their team was in disarray. ".. And then came the deathstalkers. Two giant's in the darkness. My leader, Sakura, and I stepped into action to save our disabled teammate, but... We were overwhelmed, by one of the deathstalkers and ravagers. She fell first, and while trying to save her I was slammed against a wall. Everything went black. We were so far from everyone else. We were helpless and hopeless. But... One of the others came to save us, a man named Chase. I don't know all that happened, I just know that he fought valiantly to save the both of us." She wasn't proud to admit to Garret how she had fallen in battle, but it was a necessary aspect of the tale. While confident in her skill among most of her allies, she was one of the first to fall when the going got tough. Whether it was underestimating her foe, recklessness while trying to save a teammate or lack of skill, she couldn't deny it. She lost. At least, at first. And she had to rely on someone else to save both her and her leader, someone who risked their own lives to save them from an untimely death that would never be uncovered from the darkness.
She noticeably lingered on that pause far longer than those prior. As if rather than taking a moment to assess what she was going to say next, she was reluctant to follow the tale of her defeat. .. It was neither, but instead admitting something that she hadn't even been able to admit to Chase. "He... Reminded me of my brother. And because of it, I had a dream while unconscious... One that told me I couldn't give up. It felt as if every fiber of my being was set ablaze, both metaphorically and quite literally. I woke up beneath the deathstalker, and for a moment... I thought I was given a chance to save him. Next thing I knew, the deathstalker was reduced to ash. It was only then that I realised it was actually Chase. ... I was able to save Chase and Sakura because he came to save us." It was... Difficult for her to reminisce on her fiery awakening, something that Garret may have been able to tell from her own reluctance to share. Some may question why, because she not only achieved a new level of power she wasn't aware of but also managed to save herself and two others. The feat itself was truly phenomenal, but the toll that it took on her both emotionally and psychologically was a heavy one. Being forced to relive such a painful memory, and truly believing that she had a second chance to save her brother. It gave her the necessary strength to survive, but it resurfaced a heavy regret that she carried in her heart every day. For simply recalling that she had to take a moment and divert her attention upwards towards the canopy of leaves that masked the trail they walked on.
After taking a deep breath, allowing her to recollect her thoughts and calm down from such a short, but intense sense of emotional turmoil, she was ready to continue. Now, her voice was chipper, being more informative than reluctant of her experience. "After that, it was a matter of crossing the cavern with Chase and an unconscious teammate in-tow. Chase was able to keep the cavern from collapsing long enough for the rest of our squad to escape while I held off the ravagers. Apparently they're drawn to light, which worked a little too well in my favor. They also have very sharp teeth and claws. But, I promise you, they are not immune to fire. That's for certain." Trailing her words was a lighter tone as she jested about her own actions. Turning her experience of battling against a swarm of ravagers into a joke, even as they threatened to shred her back to ribbons. Her steps then hastened as she hurried to pass Garret entirely, then pass in front of him. Now walking in front of him, she'd pass a glance at him over her shoulder and between her wings. It was there he could see just how her jacket worked, how there were folds of fabric buttoned and velcroed together around her wings. No one ever did wonder just how inconvenient having wings made shopping for clothes. But, along the base of her neck and through exposed patches of skin from haphazardly buttoned fabric, he would see various etches of lightened lines. Some of which were detailed with rough, torn edges. Claws and teeth, some of which warped with burns from her right shoulder. ".. I suppose I should consider myself lucky that they chose to tear into my back instead of my wings. Even after I essentially became a bomb, I only made a dent in the swarm. But, it was enough. We were able to escape after that. I couldn't have done it without Chase, though he and I never got the chance to reconvene afterward... " Her tone had trailed off, becoming disappointed with herself and how things unfurled. She had agreed to meet with the man when it was all over, feeling that she owed him an explanation for how she had acted and what the name 'Sensui' had met. Her steps had slowed, returning to a normal pace. Stepping off to the left, she let Garret catch up to her right side and passed him a glance. "I became a little too ambitious after that, and instead of resting, I got myself this scar. Though, I'm sure that's the one you're wondering about, isn't it?" She'd ask with a tone of what sounded like playful curiosity. Raising her right hand, she'd wave her gloved fingertips in her direction. He knew what her skin looked like beneath her weapon, a wound that made everything else she had endured look like nothing more than knicks and bruises.
She'd follow her remark with a faint smirk, absolutely certain about her inquiry of what he was really wanting to know. Again, she was certain that Garret hadn't anticipated being mislead with a different story about how she set herself on fire in a cave. That was merely the build up to what would've been a climactic battle, though it itself was an impressive tale about how two teams swallowed by the darkness of a cave survived against all odds. Even unintentional friendly fire, though she was certain none of them would've survived if Chase hadn't been present.
