Evan Harper – In Possession of Metal Spike (Roll Total: 5)
When Tobias suggested they enter the maze, Evan only nodded; it didn’t seem like a good or bad idea, but it was a plan and it was better than the emptiness that had otherwise occupied his mind.
Things didn’t quite make sense after that; one second Tobias was talking to him and the next he was on the ground; Evan’s eyes trailed downwards to see Tobias, first, and then the spider, second.
While there was certainly something distant about Evan, his eyes flashed at the sight of the spider and he tensed up, so he at least still had wits about him enough to know that he should be afraid of it.
He should want to get away.
He just needed Tobias to remind him of that. Tobias had said into the maze, and so that’s where they were going to go; Evan seemed like he was still lost in thought, but as long as he had Tobias guiding him, he could manage. He barely even seemed to register the spider that nearly tripped him; he stumbled, but he kept his eyes on the maze and his hand in Tobias’ and just kept moving forward.

OK, they were outyside now. Yolie looked at the maze now Reynard was safe, and tried to walk and clean her mock sword.It wasn't going to be much out outside - she didn't want to damage plants, but at the same token, even as she considered things...
There were cars the size of Buicks. Maybe, even one or two the size of a Fore Explorer, and the girl froze, side eying the herd before she yelped, throwing her fake weapon back on to shift slightly behind Rey. She wasn't AFRAID of spiders, but a particularly hungry one was sizing up the crowd for delicious snacks, and she planned to look unappealing as she tugged Rey for the maze.
A spider lurched past then and Yolie resisted a shriek, instead ducking back and getting jostled before being knocked back near Rey.
"How do spiders get so big?!"
And nasty. Especially nasty. Tarantulas weren't half this mean!

So. Many. Spiders.
Daniel moved, letting the crowd bump and justle him as he moved for the depths of the maze, bodily sheltering Owen.
"There's so many!" The boy cautioned. All foaming, spitting, and... Well.... eeeeeevil.
Nasty.
Daniel kept Owen close to him, bodily sheltering him as he moved, and scowled.
"I've got you Owen, it's okay, they have to get me first so you'll definitely get away, okay? You'll be alright..." He kept his tone soft and soothing, rubbing the boy's back warmly, struggling inward.
"You'll be okay."
Allison Abson - Airship Pirate
Oh hell no.
HELL NAW. Allison didn't need to be Afon to handle this once out-- the SCA served just fine, especially with the last event, and heavy fighting practice last week. The teen uttered a deep growl, and cracked her knuckles.
"Gotta get through the maze, but it looks like these hair shits aren't gonna be easy to flee."
And that was when Ally grinned.
"Could do with a nice big stick, but, hey. Let's punch these ballsy ******** in the ********' eyes. Help the back of the crowd."
Would be prefer to be Afon? Probably -- Afon Wysg had a stuick perfect for SCA heavy fighting, but she hadn't rested it yet. Instead, she knew shje could maske do here.
"Let's punch spiders. An' keep yer eyes iopen for a giant stick I can use. If I get that I'll show you some SCA Heavy moves, my darling Cara~"
Was she grinning?
Oh no. She was. Hide the high perches.

Reynard - grabbing a stake!
"They're not supposed to," Rey said grimly, trying to keep near Yolanda and tugging her forward when a spider knocked the girl nearly into him. "But we can worry about how and why later." Not like she was going to believe 'because magic is way too damn real sometimes' even if he could tell her that. Keeping hold of her arm, he hurried towards the maze entrance. Oh hey, were those?
Grinning now, he grabbed a stake from the box and tested its weight. It felt differently than his weapon as Parthenon, most notably in being pointy rather than blunt on both ends and of course heavier, but it was reassuring nonetheless. "This'll help," he said, and grinned at her. "One of these in an eye and they'll think twice about us being a good dinner."
Owen
When he saw the spiders, Owen screamed, and grabbed onto Daniel's arm with all the desperation and strength granted by pure adrenaline. "No! No no this isn't real it isn't real it isn't - " He tried to move forward but tripped over the leg of a spider reaching for someone near him and turned dead white, leaning on Daniel and whimpering.
He wanted to go home, he wanted to go home right now this wasn't real it couldn't be real these were not actually spiders going to eat him.
At some point, he started sobbing. But not even that made the spiders go away.
Cara
"Too many people here, too open, if we're gonna stand a chance fighting them it won't be here," Cara said, scowling. "Way too many people." Too many targets, too many meals on legs for the spiders. Dodging shrieking people and spider legs, Cara made a dash for the maze, snatching a stake out of a box as she did so. "Oh hell yes!"
Was she scared? Eh, a little. Mostly she was looking forward to the chance to fight. "Hey Ally! I'm armed! Got a plan?"
A chance to regroup in the maze, think a little around this mass of panicky people and hungry arachnids, and she and Ally would be ready to kick spider a**. Or... abdomen? Whatever. The point was, forget silly social gatherings and places where she felt awkward and out of place, this was a fight now. And fights?
Fights, she was good at.
... Well, okay, they still had to mostly run, there were an awful lot of these giant spiders. But surely she could get a good lick or two in along the way?

Jada (Mother Gothel) - metal stake (+1)
Spiders. Lord, she'd fought worse, she supposed, but this was disgusting. She felt someone shove against her in a panic, and her stake was used to help stabilize her, keep her off the ground. If someone fell, they were probably a goner. She tried to keep an eye on Christa and Gen, and out for anyone she knew.
She still wasn't seeing the person she wanted to, though apparently something saw her- she met spider eyes, gripped her metal stake, and as it rushed towards her... it seemed to change its mind, and went after someone unarmed.

Yuuri Matsunaga (not in a costume)
How Adrien could remain as calm as he was, Yuuri had no idea. Well, maybe calm wasn’t the right word. Adrien was rarely calm. Yuuri knew he had difficulty staying calm, but he was at least very reassuring that they would make it out.
Yuuri wasn’t so sure. The temptation to power up was strong. He wanted to get out as soon as he could and take Adrien with him. He could explain himself, right? It wasn’t a deal breaker that he took starseeds from people and left them to be found in alleys, right?
"Look out," he gasped breathlessly, pulling at Adrien’s hand to bodily drag him away from one of the lunging spiders, but it seemed to be interested in someone else. Poor soul. Luckily with the hedges, it was easy to get some cover, but not for long.
"I’m okay," he promised before Adrien had a chance to worry, and Yuuri reached with his free hand to grab onto his boyfriend’s belt to drag him out of the way once more. "Are you okay? Are you hurt?" They seemed to make it out of the maze, but not entirely unscathed.

Michael Lyons-Gallo ( dressed as Obi Wan ) - Picked up a metal stake.
Silent treatment or not, there were bigger problems than making sure Caspian wasn’t feeling ignored. Was Michael ignoring him? A little. He was really just trying to make sure they were both going to get out of this situation alive. He did not want a repeat of a few months ago.
As Caspian yanked on his hand and kept trying to get him to respond, Michael pulled his hand free. Instead of holding onto Caspian’s hand (because he was sure they would need both of their hands to defend themselves if the shadows he saw really were what he thought they were), he reached back to grab at the nape of his husband’s neck, propelling him forward and in front of him.
"We’ll discuss this later. Right now, I need you to move," he growled, and then shoved Caspian further ahead as he used the stake to fend off a spider that jumped down at them. It didn’t seem as though the spider was lunging for him, but he did manage to trip on one of its legs and nearly lost his balance.

Ilian Jones ( dressed as Jon Snow )
Getting out was the top priority, as well as making sure Lovely and Seth didn’t do something that would start a fight with each other. Or cause injury. The spiders were more of a nuisance than anything scary to deal with. There were worse youma that Ilian has seen.
“You both okay?” Ilian asked over his shoulder as he narrowly avoided a spider jumping down at him. It didn’t stop him from tripping over someone’s foot. Ugh… What he wouldn’t give to power up just about now. He could at least teleport then.

Chris Gallo ( dressed as Captain Hook from ONCE ) - Picked up a metal stake.
He knew that the situation wasn’t funny, but he couldn’t help the quiet laugh when Paris addressed him. It wasn’t funny, but for that moment he felt young again. Not as though he was that old to begin with, but when they were running away from spiders or youma or whatever they were, it was as things used to be when they first met. Although he supposed that never stopped, even now.
“The more you move around, the more it’s going to get stuck to you,” Chris pointed out as he pushed aside some of the web and branches from the maze that were getting stuck, pulling some from Paris’s hair. “See?”
Just in case, he at least bent down to pick up one of the stakes that seemed to be just laying around. Who knew when they might need it.

“Thanks,” Peter said to Haven as she held up his phone with the flashlight, making sure Vi didn’t get lost in the crowd of people trying to escape. They were already in danger of getting trampled, especially Vi who was shorter than he or Haven.
“Are those spiders?” he chirped as the dark figures appeared in their vision, and then tried to attack. Okay, so that wasn’t cool. They should definitely get out.
“Here, put this over your head,” he suggested to Vi, picking at the leather jacket he’d dropped onto his shoulders to put over his golden hair, and then took off his hat to offer it to Haven if she wanted it.

Quote: you manage to avoid the spiders and you make it into the maze with only some difficulties; you have been bumped and jostled by the crowd, and while a spider has come dangerously close to choosing you as its target, it wound up distracted by something (or someone) else. You may find yourself tripping over any of its eight legs, or inconvenienced by its body, but you manage to fend yourself off without too much difficulties!
Trey knew Rowan was close, he could hear him, but his rapt, terrified attention was held by the eight legged monsters emerging from the building. His hear jerked up into his throat, beating so fast he could feel it, and his usually sun-kissed skin paled to sickly color.
Spiders. Why spiders?
One rushed past him and Trey almost climbed out of his skin as he dodged to avoid it, struggling to get past it and make for the maze. All thoughts of his brother, young friend and some stranger who talked too much were forgotten in the rush and only returned once he was safely past, his make-shift weapon clutched to his chest. Blue eyes darted as he search for familiar faces, fighting down the panic that made it hard to function.

Richard Bell
Maybe it had been the sheer force of his revulsion left over from forcing his way through the sticky webs, but Richard wasted no time in getting away from the spiders that faced them all. If it had been possible, he would have gained time, gone backward in time, from the pure amount of "nope" coursing through his body. Hisses? Clicks? He wasn't a biology major, but he was pretty sure spiders didn't make noises, so giant man-eating spiders--loud giant man-eating spiders--were precisely at the bottom of his list of biological curiosities he'd like to encounter within his lifetime. White foam? Did spiders get rabies?
Okay, rabid, loud, man-eating spiders were precisely at the bottom of his list.
It wasn't until he was standing at the maze entrance, holding a piece of metal that he'd found along the way that his brain was convinced he could use to maybe stab something, that his critical thinking came back online and he realised he hadn't made sure to wait up for Ignacio. He turned back the way he had came--though he didn't actually start moving back that way there were giant spiders he was not going back towards the giant spiders okay no thanks--to look for the redhead, rocking up onto the tips of his toes to try and get a better look in the darkness and chaos. Where was he? It was impossible to hear much of anything over the commotion of the people and the loud spiders chasing them, and sight really wasn't any better.
Was it his imagination if he felt the area was getting even darker as time went on? It was probably his imagination. He hoped it was his imagination.
Reluctant to enter the maze without Ignacio, Richard paced anxiously in a tight circle where he was, casting furtive glances back out toward the teeming masses. One of his hands slipped into his pocket, resting on his cell phone. He supposed he could call Ignacio if they got too separated, right? Or would it call attention to the other man if his phone started ringing? Richard wasn't exactly keen to get eaten or have Ignacio get eaten because a spider or five heard their ringtone go off. How would he explain to his parents that he'd come home without Ignacio because a giant spider had eaten him?
Chewing his lower lip, Richard bounced in place on the balls of his feet, looking across the crowd and hoping to catch a glance of wherever it was Ignacio had ended up. It did occur to him that maybe Ignacio had beat him somewhere again, and he spared a moment to look around where he was, leaning to the side to glance sidelong into the maze to see if he saw him there. He knew the chance was slim; after all, he trusted that Ignacio would say something if he saw him. But, then again, there was also the chance that Ignacio was doing the same thing Richard was doing, so... it couldn't hurt, right?
To wait, anyway?
...Hopefully? Richard sighed quietly, but not without stress evident in his voice.
"Oh... where are you...?"
