The kid was red. And furry. What, was she at an anime convention? They had said, before they dumped the little b*****d and his giant lizard, that he was a rather happy-go-lucky sort of kid. She would enjoy that type of brat.

But ooooh no. This one was just standing in the doorway, wet and fluffy-matted with his ears down and looking as if someone had just killed his dog. Or his father. You know. Whichever, right?

Dagger stood a few yards from Lian, her arms folded over her chest and eyebrows arched accordingly as she studied the young boy. He looked depressed and sad; he had a large purple serpant coiled up behind him. It was wet too. And had six legs.

"Don't only bugs have six legs?" It was Daemon who spoke, the dark looming shadow behind her. He had melded with the nighttime and was nothing more then a death-looking hooded thing behind her. Damn Shadow Creatures. Her shoulders rolled a little to brush him off and one hand rose to wave at the other back.

"Stop making fun of him." Her voice was a little taunt at this point and the shadow creature slunk back, seemingly disappearing from the area. Rakhazbun stayed, however, a dark prescence in the room, his arms crossed like his Matrons and red eyes on the boy. He, thankfully, was silent. "You're Lian, right?"

Lian hesitated. He could make some grief-inspired bitter remark but it was a simple question. Best to get along with them now. Best to learn their names and what the heck they were.

"Lian Cross," He agreed, voice soft in the large home area. Dagger grinned, just faintly, and then the next thing Lian knew, his new gaurdian was walking up and enveloped his damp frame in a tight hug.

"I know what it's like to loose a mam or a papi," SHe crooned, petting roughly at the bright blonde hair as Lian struggled to escape. She was taller then him and currently, he was smothering in her chest. "So don't cry, Emo Kid! This will be fun. We'll take care of you~"

Sweet release. Lian stumbled back, staring at her as if she was a crazy woman (which she was, sort of), and he kept rubbing at his face with the pads of his hands.

"Who ARE you?!" Lian said, voice indignant and almost angry. His wet tail was fluffed and his ears back. Xiao was unafraid, however. The big black thing had frightened her but now, from this vantage point, she could snap the girl-person in half if she harmed Lian. All was well. "WHAT are you?"

Dagger grinned, giving him a sweeping, sarcastic bow. "I am Dagger Kuseth! This is Rakhazbun," She gestured to the drow behind her, "And the creature who had been lurking and taunting behind me was Daemon. They are my concubines."

"Welcome," Rakha drawled out, his voice something dark and dangerous that put Lians hair on end, "To Lady Daggers house. You'll get used to it."

Thus, it began.

Dear Journal,

Apparently, I'm turning into D-corps dumping grounds. First the furry red thing and now they got in contact with me. Said they have another kid, a little girl this time. Not as physical as Lian is, very quiet. Her father was forced to give her up due to inadequate care and they'd like to give her to a person with experiance and financial stabability.

I'm living with two men. We have a crazy red-thing on our hands, Rakha is a slave and Daemon is just... ******** crazy. Why do they keep sending kids to me? I hate kids.

ARGH to kids.

But she's quiet, supposedly. Here's to hoping.

Rakha says he's amused at my aprehension. He would be, that b*****d. He wants kids. Daemon doesn't care, I think, but Rakha is in that whole 'kids are a blessing, they help your house survive' bullshit. Why can't they give these kids to Rapier? She's a better mom.

I need a drink.

Damnit.

Apparently, the child was terrified. She was quiet and rather subdued behind the scientest who led her to Daggers home. The abode was large and too rich for nearly anyones taste; the second story had thick drapes pulled over all of the windows.

Dagger herself was trying to be as cheerful as she could be for this new arrival. Lian was fidgeting and he had begged Dagger not to smother this girl in her breasts like she had him. The blonde laughed, hauling him closer for a tight, boob-smothering hug, her fingers curling in his hair cheerfully.

"No worries, no worries!" She had cried, giving the muffled child another squeeze before releasing him. Lian had gasped and recieved a sympathetic pat on the back from Rakha, whose eyes had been trained elsewhere. Never look at the victim, he had once told the red panda. The predator could smell fear.

But now the girl was here. SHe was small and fragile looking, her pale color bright against the backdrop of the door. Her hands were clasped delicately in front of her, wearing a pink, fluffy looking dress that left her new older brother puzzled.

Dagger wasn't as confused, though. SHe never was. Lian had come to learn that while the blonde was fickle and twittered from one topic to the other, she was stubborn and solid once she had reached a decision. SHe wasn't stupid. And damn, he was glad that she got him, not her sister.

He wanted Azoc around. She was the only thing he really missed.

Lians attention was distracted from his former sister when Dagger swept up, wearing her usual skimpy number, and pulled the swan girl away from the door.

"Now, why are you being so SHY?" The former concubine purred, petting at the curly/wavy hair. "My name is Dagger, dearheart, and this here is Lian. He'll be your new brother. Behind me is Rakhazbun and the dark shadowy thing is Daemon. They're your new daddies."

The small girl blanched a bit, frame wavering as if she was trying to escape from the woman. Dagger didn't let her go, not caring if the girl wanted to flee or not. They waited. All of them waited to hear the smal thing speak.

"I already have a daddy." Her voice was as small as her body, thin and quiet, shoulders tightening. "Thank you."

"Yes, dear, I know. But that daddy can't take care of you anymore, so you're here with us. Don't worry. They aren't bad fathers."

Lian slide foreward, giving his mother a Look despite the cheerful grin on his face. "Maybe I should take care of her right now, Dagger? You're awfully overwhelming, you know."

He recieved a grump in return but the girl was relinquished to him. "I'm not frightening!" WHen her son tried to assure her, no, Dagger just waved her hand. "Just make sure to change her into something... not so pink. Only frou frou girls who can't do anything wear pink. Maybe light eggshell blue. Or cream. Cream would look good. Actually. Rakha! Go help them get a dress for her."

Lian sighed. Rakha kept his inside, but he nodded briefly. Despite the girls little whispered words of 'but I like pink', the two men took her off to keep her from her new mothers overexubriant grasp.

Hi.

Dagger gave me you. She said it would be good if I had a place to vent and talk about 'myself' instead of just keeping it all inside. I'm not really keeping a lot inside. I mean, yeah, I miss Sciz. I miss hanging out with my siblings... But it isn't BAD with Dagger.

Yeah, she smothers me in her chest and she likes to be over the top and whining and embaressing, but Rakhazbun and Daemon keep her in line for a good portion of it. They're okay too, if a bit creepy. Rakha likes to just be stoic and grr while Daemon does s**t to make people angry. They didn't have any other kids before me and Dagger always tells me how glad she is that I'm older.

I don't think she really likes babies.

That's okay. I don't really want to see what her kind of kids would look like. They'd be weird and crazy and... I dunno. At least I have EMi to take care of and Xiao takes care of me. It's alright here. I don't mind it.

Emi being here means I'm the big brother again while Azoc isn't here. So I have to take Emi to her ballet classes and show her around and...stuff.

Iunno. I gotta go.

She was resisting. Emi may not have been actively pulling away from Lian, but she was resisting none the less. The small swan was always rather compliant - a state that was usually brought on by their new mothers rather domineering personality - and Lian was that way as well when it came to Dagger.

"You'll have fun," He promised the small white swan, eyes going back towards her. She was dressed in her leotard with a small light blue dress overtop. Her hair was up and Emi was ready to start her newest class at the ballet school Dagger had enrolled her in after school and on weekends. Lian, as Emis big brother, was to take her to and from the classes.

He had a built in babysitter, after all.

The dragon in question rolled in the air next to the siblings, her serpentine body twisting on the drafts as Lian pulled the meek girl along. No need to be fearful, She crooned in a soft, soothing voice. To her it was soothing; to the children it sounded like a quiet trill and her muzzle moved to nudge against the girls shoulder.

Emi made a soft noise, her free hand rising up to pet against Xiaos nose. It was comforting to have the dragon there; she liked Xiao. Xiao liked her. "I liked my old teacher." She admitted finally, cheeks flushing slightly. Sometimes it was hard to tell with the marking on her face, but she was definately blushing. "She was nice. The girls were nice."

"You'll like this teacher too. Dagger wouldn't sign you up for a mean teacher." The red panda grinned crookedly, his paw giving her a squeeze. "I mean, she's nuts, no doubt, but she wouldn't make you go to see a teacher who was mean to you."

She hesitated before nodding, slowly, chewing at her lower lip still as her feet picked up. Wings flexed a bit as Emi contemplated this and she managed to lean a bit into her brother as they walked. "Lian?"

"Yeah?"

"I think I made people sad." Her small voice couldn't be muffled by his fur. Wisely, Lian said nothing. "Cause I saw this boy the other day I knew when I was with my Daddy and..." She hesitated, shrugging blithly. "Maybe he's like that with everyone?"

"Don't worry about it." Lians advice came from a mild tone, warm eyes glancing down at her. "Just be nice from now on, ok? You were afraid of Rakha too, weren't you? Now you like him because he was really nice to you. So whoever the kid is... just be nice. Not everyone is just like you."

She fell quiet for a moment before nodding as the dance school loomed into view. The swan wilted, briefly, and straightened only when she felt Xiaos muzzle press against the small of her back. Deep breath.

"Don't let anyone make you scared." Daggers demanding words floated through her head, Emis shoulders straightening. "No one is better then you and don't you DARE let them make you think they are. Put your shoulders back and straighten up, put on that poker face I know you can do. Do your best. Never fail. You'll be lovely."

"Time for class." Lian murmured, watching a mother lead her little human daughter in. He released Emis hand, pushing her gently inside. "I'll be here in two hours, Emi."

Her wings were trembling, just barely. New class, new girls, new teacher. Poker face. She closed her face up and her body tightened. She took her first step foreward, away from the safety of her brother and towards the school.

Time to start brand new.

Lian's SS couldn’t completely decide what to get for someone she’d never meet, personally. So she decided to take the easy route and get a Classic Pinball Handheld Game, after all, who doesn’t like to play a little game every now and then?

"Ma, what the heck is this?"

Dagger glanced up at her sons dismayed voice, one blonde eyebrow arching on her forehead. She put down her sewing project (anew shirt for him, Lian knew) and glanced at the paper clutched in his little paw.

"Oh. That, dearest? That little science place is trying to tell me that I've been keeping you under a lock and key. I need to keep them informed otherwise."

Lian blinked at that and after giving the paper another curioous look, he tossed it aside much like Dagger had done with it at five AM that same morning.

"But I was just in a class. Battle, with-"

"Yes, yes, I know. Still, the check-ins are important, I suppose. Although they CULD just tattoo a number into our skin."

He cringed away from her bitter tone and instead sat next to his mother. She relaxed and gave his hair a ruffle.

"You're a good by, Lian. When is your exam for battle?"

"Soon." He shrugged carelessly, cast his glance to the side. "What would happen if you didn't check in with them about me?"

She made a dismissive noise and was about to brush him off when she noticed just how tense the adopted boy was. Save for mid-adrenline rushes, Lian was rarely tense.

Instead, the almost-waving hand went to rest on his shoulder. "Probably talk you away." His body went rigid at the admittance. "Which is why I've sent Rakha in to give them what they needed. Well. Save for a good screw, anyway."

She grinned when Lian near-choked on his tongue.

"I'm sending in things for Emi as well so I can ignore the troublesome paperwork for another six months or so."

Lian laughed. Again, Dagger shrugged.

"What ELSE am I supposed to do, lovie? I'm booked up, things to plan, and you kids to take care of. I mean, it's not like I'm BUSY or anything but paperwork is THE last thing on my mind.

"But I suppose I like you. Be a good thing and get me some water?"
