Orpheus looked down at his clipboard, reading over the information he had on the student that was coming in today for class. A red panda with the name of Lian. He looked up at the tree that he had prepared nodding. There were different tags of a range of colors tied loosely among the branches. The class was to test the boy's climbing ability and agility at the same time.
He checked the clock before giving a smile. He had time to enjoy a bit of his coffee before the boy arrived.

Ha! He wasn't late this time! Granted, there had been yelling along the hallways as the panda had zoomed down it on his brand new skateboard, arms outstretched. It had been a flipping BLAST. xiao flew behind him as if nothing was wrong, even as the boy came to an abrupt halt - by jumping off the skateboard and letting it crash into a wall a few feet away.
"Hey, Xiao! Can you get that for me?" Lian grinned at her and, upon receiving a Look from his dragon, sighed.
I am a Dragon. Not your errand woman. She said primly, even if the boy couldn't understand, and nosed at the door. With a click, it opened obediantly for her and Xiao slunk in with a twitch of her tail, lips peeled open in draconish amusement.
Lian scrambled in after her, skateboard in hand. "Hey! I'm not late yet, right?"

Orpheus looked up as the door to the class room opened up and the dragon appeared first, a rather pretty and interesting looking one, "Hello there." He said, giving the dragon a pleasant smile and a nod.
He then turned to his student and gave a little laugh, "Nope, not late at all." He assured the boy. The way he saw it class couldn't really start without a student so he wouldn't count them as late unless they didn't show up at all.

"Awesome. Ma would've killed me if I was late. Have to pass, yadda yadda yadda." He grinned roughly at that and looked down at his skateboard. "I'm Lian but - uh. Where do I put my skateboard? ANywhere? And - sweeeet, is that tree for me?"
goodness. This is going to be a long day. Xiaos voice, although probably unheard by both, was dry. She gave Orpheus a little churr in aknowledgement of his hello and nosed at Lians hand. The dragon took the skateboard into her mouth and squirmed away from her boy to slither to the further side of the room.
Lian gave a short laugh.
"Answered that! So. What're we doin'?"

Orpheus couldn't help but give a little chuckle, amused by the excitement the boy was displaying, "Yes, this tree has been set up for you." He said, watching as the dragon took Lian's skateboard and carried it off.
"There are various tags hanging at different levels on the tree, each worth different point levels. The higher up the more they are worth. You need a total of ten points to pass the class." He said explaining the rules for the current test, "Its to test your climbing skill as well as your agility and a bit of math thrown in as well."

He looked up at the tree, one brow arched in contemplatio. This, he could do. He was good at climbing and, heck, had been doing the mock mountian climbing for months already. The tree outside his house was used often, especially when Dagger was angry or Lian contemplative.
"I think I can handle that." He said finally. Xiao chortled her amusement. Lian rolled his shoulders an approached the tree, a wide smile growing on his slight muzzle. "How many points is each worth? If I get all of them, do I get extra credit? A piece of candy?"

"The red ones are worth a point each, greens are worth two, blues are five but they are high up, and there is one gold that is worth ten but I can't tell you where its hidden on the tree." Orpheus told him.
He couldn't help but laugh at his next question, "Well the classes are normally just pass or fail so there isn't much use for extra credit, there are prizes for passing though."

"So, no candy?" Lian looked briefly disappointed at that but, instead, he just cracked his knuckles. He got to climb for a grade! It worked for him. Another shoulder roll and he grinned once more.
His paws reached out and he dug his claws into the trunk of the tree.
"Do I start now?"

Orpheus couldn't help but smile, he liked when students were enthusiastic. When they were the classes always seemed to go better, "Yes, you can start now." He told Lian.

Lian skittered right up that tree, his busy tail straight out behind him for balance until it was able to grab at branches. The fifth appendage clung to the branches and kept him steady as the cheerful little adreniline junkie crawled his way across the trees. Snagging a few ribbons here and there, humming happily under his breath.
"WHOOO!" Lian had one hand on a thick branch and he swung down to dangle by it, his tail twisted up around it as well to give him the appearance of a monkey. He GRINNED at the teacher, his free hand clutching a number of ribbons. "Greens! Reds! I'm so hitting up blues! And GOLD! I have good eyes!" He let the ribbons flutter to the ground and went back up into the tree, clawing higher against the branches and trunk, a little flash of red as he did so. Little noises rose up as he found a blue and then -
"Where is the STUPID GOLD?!"

Orpheus watched awed and amused as Lian skittered through the branches of the trees collecting ribbons. He squinted to try to see how many he had so far, how many points he had... but after a while he gave up. He wondered if the points he had even mattered to Lian or if he were more determined to find the elusive gold ribbon.
When he said in a rather loud manner 'where is the stupid gold' he felt he found his answer but none the less called up, "Its not required that you find the gold one!"

It wasn't as if Lian did stupid things for the fun of it - never! There was something he couldn't find and, dagnabbit, he wanted to. It was a challenge. He just laughed when Orpheus spoke and there were harsh rustles from the tree. After another moment or two of this, a loud crow of triumph left the foliage.
"AH HA! FOUND you, you little bugger!" A shrieking laugh and the tree shuddered several times as Lian climbed and leapt his way down from the branches. He finally escaped by dropping from the middle of the three, laughing and landing in a crouch.
"I GOT it!" He thrust the ribbon out with a smirk, eyes shining from the colorful face. "I SO want some candy, man."

Orpheus gave a great smile, even clapping his hands, "Good job Lian." He complimented him on the various ribbons he'd found on top of the Gold one that he had hunted down and got, "Since you got the Gold one you automatically pass... not that you really needed a ribbon to prove to me how good you were at climbing."
Lian had proved his skill at climbing and how agile he was while climbing around very well, "Candy, huh?" He looked back and forth a moment, seemed to be thinking on something deeply before nodding, "Sure. You did really well, come on we can go and raid a vending machine and get you all you can carry as a prize for passing the class."

"Ha! Awesome!" He waved it again, proud of his little achievement, and then stuffed the gold ribbon into the depths of his pockets. It was HIS, now, and if Orpheus wanted to wrestle for it - well.
Lian had strong hands and feet. Let's leave it at that.
But he was grinning, a wide thing, and his fluffy tail was twitching back and forth. Xiao almost sighed from where she was coiled, and nosed her boys skateboard.
The last thing he need is more sugar. She told the teacher, uncoiling an following after her boy as he grabbed up his skateboard and keehauled it out of the room.
"TO THE CANDY! Whoo!"
((End?))
