Raven was in a tizzy. Just after her return from her challenging work abroad (and subsequent extended vacation), D-Corp had put her right back to work. And not just teaching her normal classes, either. D-Corp had ordered her to arrange a class that both novices and experienced students could attend.
After much fretting, and even more arguing, she finally had something she felt she could live with. Of course, she expected her more experienced students to take the lead, but even novices would be able to handle elementary manifestation. Or so she hoped.
Now, all that remained was for the students to arrive.

Fleur felt rather proud of himself. He had been terribly late for his last several classes, but he was actually on time for this one. Thankfully, it was a magic class - those had been really easy so far, nothing like his melee classes, so he was, for once, positive and almost perky about going to class today.
Argent was happy as well - finally, her boy was feeling well enough and confident enough to allow her to tag along to one of his classes. She had not been at all happy with him for leaving her at the mansion so much lately, and even if all she did in this class was sleep while he took notes, it would be worth it just to be with her skunk again.
So, high in spirits, both skunk and dragon entered the classroom, bowed their heads politely in greeting to their instructor, and took a seat at the front of the classroom, Argent curling around Fleur's desk and resting her chin on his feet while he busied himself getting his notebook and pencil out of his bag.

A couple minutes later than the skunk boy, proudly, Laial lifted his head as he entered the magic classroom with Heiko following behind him, nosing at his heels until the nautilus boy glared at her a bit. She backed up -- but excited, it wasn't long before she was right behind him again. "I'm here," the proud and smiling Laial announced, sliding into a seat himself, waving to the teacher.

Ah, right on time. Raven didn't smile, but her expression was possibly less icy than usual. "Welcome, students. Please give me your full name, and then sit wherever you like."
Reaching towards her desk, she picked up her clipboard with the attendance sheet on it. Of course, she kew who her students were, but there was protocol to follow.

Fleur stood and bowed his head politely again as he answered, "Fleur Schlotkin with Argent, ma'am." He sat again and curled his tail comfortably behind himself while Argent waved to the instructor with one wing.

Fidgeting a bit, Laial then stood up as well. "Laial -- " He had to pause a moment to remember his new parent's surname. "Laial Aisley. Oh! And Heiko." He offered a small smile, and Heiko trumpeted a gleeful 'hiiiii~' when her name was stated, and Laial looked mortified, shushing her a bit as he scooted into his seat carefully.

Aw, crap. He was late. He had been skateboarding and lost track of time - almost forgot he had a magic class scheduled. So Lian was sprinting down the hallway with skateboard tucked under his arm. Xiao was flying beside him, chittering her upset at the red panda. He had been LATE. School was more important.
He opened the door probably a bit more forcefully then he had to, and he blinked. Apparently, the kids name who was talking was Laial and the dragon was Heiko? Wasn't that Japanese? Lian made a face and hopped inside, glancing around and then to the teacher.
"Uh.. Sorry I'm late. I was skateboarding and forgot that I had a class and.. Uh. Sorry. I'm Lian. This is Xiao. She's mad I'm late. Where do I sit?"

Pleased, Raven ticked off the boys names as they took their seats. She had just shut the door when another student came in, clearly out of breath. "Forgot, did you? Well, an extra homework assignment should help to improve your memory. Please see me after class. In the meantime, take your seat so we may begin."
Though she appeared the picture of righteous anger, Raven was secretly smug. Just back, and already doling out punishments. Maybe it was good to be back after all.
"For those of you who haven't had my classes before, I am Professor Millner. Today we are going to begin Elementary Magic Manifestation. Knowing the principles behind magic, one is able to bring forth their potential in the form of energy, energy which is used to change the world around the spellcaster in some way. For those of you who are newer to magic, would a more experienced student be willing to remind us the three required aspects of magic?"

So she was one of those. Angry and spiteful against those not as good as her. Lian knew how to handle those sorts of people. His response to her ill-intended 'punishment' was to give the teacher a lazy, amused little grin, and to saunter to a free desk. He flopped down easily enough, one hand rising up to wave at the others in the group.
"Sounds good to me, Teach. I'm a slow learning so more practice means I remember more. Right?" Oh, that grin again, slow and purposefully peaceful. His tail was swishing. Xiao, ever patient, just sighed and relaxed in a loose coil near the door way.
As he was new to the whole 'magic' thing, Lian kept his mouth shut. Instead, his eyes went to the other students, and moved over each of them both slowly. Both guys. One was a boy and then there was a skunkishness girl? She was kinda cute. The other one looked... very slimy.

Fleur quickly flipped through his notebook - that sounded familiar, but he couldn't quite place it. His previous magic instructor stated herself that she followed a different system than some, and he...honestly didn't remember much of his first class though he had received a passing grade. He was in a bit too much pain at the time for any of his lessons to stick.
There it was - someone in his previous class said a different instructor mentioned three things. "Training and preparation of the body, mind, and soul?" Fleur offered hopefully.

Laial ducked his head a little, feeling kind of stupid. He'd never had a magic class before, so he had no idea. Taking out his own (empty) notebook, he prepared to take notes, since heaven knew he'd need 'em.

Kliken was getting out of a class in another room nearby when he saw a dragon and boy heading into another class. Curious as to which class it was the leech followed along after Lian and caught it from the teacher's lips 'Elementary Magic Manifestation' a long name but it had his eyes widening slightly in curiousity. He'd had only one magic class before today and it was all really interesting but he didn't think that he had gotten nearly enough information out of it to really feel comfortable with the subject...
He shifted in place before looking over at Tural who was sitting next to him, starring up at him and awaiting his boy's decision. The Cruzoor cocked his head to the side giving a little chirp when he saw Kliken hesitating then gave him a nudge.
The redhead gave a nod before he lifted a hand up to knock on the door before slipping inside. It took everything he had in him to speak up, knowing he was slightly late to the class since the teacher was already asking questions of the students there, "Ahhh... M-My name is Kliken Belladona... I-I was wondering i-if it wasn't to l-late to join your class?" He asked, wondering if she even allowed people walk ins.
Tural followed after his boy, giving a little chirp as he stood next to the boy for support knowing he wasn't to good with groups, less with standing up in front of them.

Ah, a disobedient one. Raven's eyes narrowed, but she didn't reply. He would learn, or he would continue to be punished. Either way, it didn't make much difference to her. Rather, she turned her attention to the one who tried to answer, and frowned slightly. "While those are very interesting ideas, Mr. Shlotkin, they are not the ones taught in my classes. I-"
She was about to ask where those tenets had come from, when a noise at the door distracted her. Frowning, she consulted her list. This student wasn't scheduled to attend- nor was he pretending to. In fact, he was asking to join. This presented Raven with a dilemma. She discouraged late students, but she much preferred to teach a student who wanted to be there to one whose attendance was forced.
"Mr. Belladonna, is it? While I firmly disapprove of latecomers-" at that, she pointedly glanced at Lian- "I respect those who wish to further their education. Since the class has barely begun, you may take a seat, and discuss this with me after class." Raven jotted his name onto her roster, making a note to ask his dragon's name when they spoke later.
With a small smirk, Raven placed the clipboard back on her desk and continued. "Since we appear to need a bit of review, let me ask the class this question- what do you think is required to perform magic?"

That, MAYBE, Laial could answer. Sticking his skinny arm up, he blurted out, "Concentration? And, and... belief? Like, do you believe it works?" He looked around at the others a little bit myopically, nervous to see if his answer was right or wrong and propping his sandaled heels up against the basket at the bottom of his desk. Heiko nosed against his ankle, a little comfortingly.

Kliken gave a bright smile, "T-Thank you, so m-much." He said before hurrying over to sit at once of the empty desks. He was quick about opening his bag, digging through his notebooks to find the one on Magic and got it out along with a pen. He wasn't to worried over the idea having to meet with the teacher after class, instead he saw it as an opportunity to learn even more from her on the subject.
He flipped passed his notes from the last class and started a new page for the new class. He wrote down the question that she asked the lifted his head, looking at her curiously. The class started much differently then the last one he was in... he would have to make sure to compare his class notes from the two classes in his spare time, see what they said that was similar and what was different.
The leech thought on her question, chewing on the end of his pen in a thoughtful manner. What did someone need to perform magic...? He hesitantly lifted his hand, "M-Maybe the d-desire to learn it?" He ventured, thinking on other classes he'd had not just magic based. He had done better at the ones he wanted to learn then the ones he didn't want to learn, like with swimming which he enjoyed and fighting which he would rather avoid.
