Quote: Well I’ve had my little Taren for a few day’s now and we both seem to be adjusting to each other, well I think with both of us it was an almost instant connected, I mean he’ so adorable. Also I think it helps that I didn’t hold him upside down. Honestly no wonder the scientists seek out adoptive mothers they would be useless by themselves, I’ve also decided to stay in my city apartment with him for a while at least. I’m not sure how he would react to the others but since Tempest is the only one with an ounce of common sense I’ve asked my brother to hold up the fort a little while longer better to get him used to the other D-corp children first I think. Some of them are odd as he is, some stranger. Some I wouldn’t trust to look after a hamster (a few might try to eat it.) let alone anything bigger. Still so far there have been no major incidents. Taren seems to have settled in even though he is still shy around pretty much everyone expect me, well that is until he get on what I’ve begun to reefer to as his ‘little projects’ he loves to build, Lego, wood blocks, stuffed animals, sand, earth, and just about anything he gets his hands on he’ll try and build it into a stable structure, what’s more fascinating is that his eyesight is so bad I am fairly sure this is done mainly using touch and use of his other senses. It’s quite adorable how focused he becomes when working on one of his ‘little projects.’
I’ve started taking him to school as well, he was nervous at first and insisted I stay for the lessons, the teacher, Kat I think was her name, anyway she was very kind and understanding about it and let me sit in the back of the classroom. Still the next class I slipped out halfway through and he didn’t even notice. This worked for a while and eventually in the last class he attended he didn’t need me to stay at all, he’s getting his confidence but slowly and I don’t think he’ll ever fully be free of his shy nature.

Dark eyes blinked, the small motion magnified by the large glasses as a clawed hand hovered over the pile of multi coloured felt tips. The other hand rested on the pile of homework sheets in front of him. The first one had three large letters printed across it. His mother had told him what they were, as well as the lesson in class. He found them easy to remember but much harder now to make out what was written on the sheet of paper, “A. A is for Alli...ga…ta.” The boy said aloud, slowly and deliberately. Silen watched as she threw another handful of vegetables into the wok, she smiled. The poor boy was quite odd for a child, he was very stern with her about knowing the right colours for everything. He wanted too learn about the world right the first time and commit it to memory. “alligator hon. Not ‘ta’ ‘tor’ She corrected. “’to…rrr’ Taren repeated back stressing the R and drawing it out. He always had trouble with R’s. B and C followed in a similar fashion with Silen prompting him, nose to paper and names and sounds rolling from his tongue.

The next sheet caused a stir of excitement; it held both ‘Dragon’ and ‘Egg’ on it. Silen had spoken to the mole boy, told him he would get and egg and then it would become a dragon, a partner and a friend. That idea appealed to him greatly. So he spent extra long and carefully coloured in the two letters although when he was done he guardian couldn’t claim to see any marked difference, “Dagon, dagon.” He chimed happily h whole time he coloured it, Silen didn’t have the heart to correct him.

The third sheet was finished as Silen put the stir fry and noodles onto the plate, Taren loved noodles and spaghetti, this was something that Silen had learned fairly soon upon his arrival, she would just feel better about that if she was more sure thtat it wasn’t because he tough they looked a lot like worms.

Taren coward behind his adoptive mother, only the bright pink nose, twitching curiously up at the stranger from around her pant leg. The man was big, bigger than Silen even and he always though his mummy was very tall, even compared to other adults. Actually there were two men although both looked so similar they could have been clones, the only thing that really distinguish one human mountain from the other were the colour of their ties, so naturally one was nicknamed ‘green tie’ the other ‘red tie.’ Mummy was speaking to them in hushed tones, occasionally a note of anger slipping in, he couldn’t hear all of what they were saying but mummy sounded upset and angry which was never a good thing in the mind of the small child that so worshiped his guardian.
He only wanted to show her his latest homework sheet which was clutched delicately in his clawed hand. He had been quite happily drawing away and had finished his alphabetical assignments he wanted to show her. He’d even been very cartful that he got the colour of everything exactly right, Mummy would be proud, surly. Then silen shouted words which made the mole flinch and cower it had almost the same effect on the two big men, “Get out!” Silen growled. Both men glanced at each other theen turned. “We’ll show ourselves out.” Silen just growled and glared daggers until they were out. Then she sighed, Reaching inside her pocket and pulling out a Cigarette with shaking hands and lighting .
Taking a deep drag she sighed and felt he shoulders relax, only know did she notice the continues tug on her leg. “Oh, I’m sorry Hun were you there the whole time?” She leant down and picked up the small mole Pulling ‘her’ satin shirt down around his small body. Taren nodded. “mummy, who wereeer those big peoples?” he asked blinking innocently. “Just associates of someone I’m working for” She said quickly, taking the paper he had in his hand and quickly and deftly changing the subject. “Taren have you finished all of them?” The mole smiled quickly and nodded at the approval in his mother’s voice. He was quite happy to sit on the couch then and go through them with her. Forgetting all about Red tie and Green tie.

A child is expected to know certain things at certain ages. In order to obtain rights to their Dragon(egg), they must prove they can meet these requirements.
The following sheet is for your child to fill out, with mild help from their guardian, then sent back to D-corp. (PM ot the mule)
Also any changes, even minor such as haircuts, should be reported to the D-corp to be logged and filed.
Thankyou, D-corp.

Quote: Hmmm, right. Update on Taren huh? Well I had to look back at some of the old pictures of him he has grown quite a lot but because I see him everyday I almost forgot just how much, his hair has gotten a lot longer, but unfortunately still remains as messy as every, he hardly lets me go any where near him with a brush let alone scissors so his hair is longer and messy.
He seems to have lost a bit of that baby fat but he’s still quite chubby, maybe he’ll continue to lose it, he’s certainly active, he loves to build things. Just about any kind of structure around himself, this usually means a den or fort made out of the couch cushions. Another curious thing about him is that despite his age he absorbs knowledge like a sponge I rarely have to tell him anything twice and his speech is more advanced than that of most children his age. I have a theory that this has something to do with the fact that his eyesight isn’t brilliant even with his glasses. So he finds it hard to read books, although he has a few picture books which he makes me read with him pretty much every night before he can sleep. God bless that child he is adorable but he does have some habits that drive me insane.
He’s got what I call clothing issues; basically he doesn’t like wearing clothing. At least not the child’s clothing which I got him. He refuses to wear any of them expect a small par of shorts and even that can result in tears. So what he normally end up wearing are my clothes. My big softest fleecy jumpers and soft cotton shirts. They go right down over his knees sometimes to the floor. And his large hands are the only thing that prevents them covering his fingers as well.
Another thing about Taren is he is still extremely shy of other children. When it’s just him and one other child at the moment he is able to build up enough courage and actually goes to play but he still get’s jumpy and scared of them easily and with any large amount of people he just clings to me. He also still has that raggedy old blue blanket he came from d-corp with which he constantly carries round as a sort of comfort. I don’t think I can add anymore to that. I love the kid but he’s also shortening my life quite a few years.

You apple!...come to my mouth! Summery: Taren meets Vales as always he is shy at first but then takes tothe boy surprisingly well, not even minding the other's roughness which gets them both covered completely in mud and leaves, to earn them both baths. This cold be the start of a beautiful friendship. heart Bath times and Bedtimes
"Bath!" The little mole boy was full of exuberance as he practically bounded into the apartment. Silen following behind getting the sneaking the suspicion that someone must have dropped some kangaroo DNA in that boy's gene mixing bowl,or something else totally unnessesary amounts of energy. she guessed he was still psyched from the energetic came of hid and seek he had played with the horse boy, not that she minded, she was lad he seemed to be making normal friends like a normal kid, she had been afraid his shyness would have held him back. Guess not.
"Ahh Tarrie hun calm down you're getting mud everywhere." Silen begged him although she didn't want to put a damper on his excitement and because she was probably nearing the title of laziest sentient being on the planet she got a cleaner in once a week, yes she could afford it ah the benefits of having a famous father even if he was a pain in the a**. "Tarrie come here." she called again impatient now as the boy streaked off to god knows where but came back obediently at her summons. "Here." she knelt down and pulled him towards her starting to brush off all that dirt and dust near the doorway where it was easy to clean. "Now bathroom." she demanded pointing in the direction of the tile room. The mold boy simply bounced on his feet once and once again bolted off, ahh she hoped she could get him to sleep after this. Listen to her she was sounding like a proper mother even mentaly she thought proudly. Hanging up her thick outdoor clothes since she didn't have the benefit of silky fur she had to make do with the artificial variety.
When she reached the bathroom Taren was lost completely in his shirt, trying to pull it over his head, somehow confused by the folds he now had his nose sticking out the sleeve hole and his glasses had fallen on the floor. Honestly. A chuckle as his guardian picked p the bottle bottom lens followed by easing the shirt fully over his head. Laughing all the more at the sight of her adoptive child with all his fur pulled the round way and the mop of purple hair which had alway been quite messy to begin with now looked like a hedgerow nest. "Well done Tarrie you got half way there." She said kindly and kissed his nose. Rewarded with that adorable smile as she reached over to start running the bath as she stripped him down the rest of the way and unceremoniously dumped him in the water with strict instructions to wash while she put his clothes out in the laundry.
When he came back Taren pronounced himself clean but then required five extra minutes of scrubbing with soap and water to get all the dirt out of his fur, something the mole boy though a little odd. He had been clean hadn't he? He'd gotten water all over himself. Well he didn't mind too much because it meant lots of extra fussing. Plus he had his duckie and building blocks (for some odd reason) which he could play with. He brought down little arms which where still rounded for his age succeeding in covering his guardian with a significant amount of the bath water. "Right that's it." The demon declared and grabbed a towel scooping it out of the water with it and tickling him mercilessly.
Taren adored this, being hugged and having attention lavished on him as he wriggled and squeaked, he was surprisingly resilant and manged to last an impressive amount of time before calling her to stop between laughing fits, his fur thoughtly ruffled but at least he was clean and spelled so pleasantly of apple soap and passion fruit shampoo. Silen didn't keep very many typically feminin items round the house but she did always have a wide range of bath pamper treatments on offer.
Dryish at least the exuberant youngster raced into his room jumping naked onto the bed leaving his guardian to stumble over his toys to pick out some Pj's for him, nice silk green ones which he had taken a shine to. It said something that he only had a few sets of his own clothes which he would actauly wear and one was his Pj's. Also without his glases the mole was practically blind yet he'd learnt to navigate round the apartment perfectly even in that state.
"Silen mum where are we going tomorrow?" he asked knowing the answer but wanting to hear her say it. "we are going to see your dragon egg." she told him as she urged him with some rather stern warnings into bed and under the duvet. Taren had seen Dragons with older children around the D-corp center, some were so loyal to their partners he wanted a friend like that. Silen had failed to mention he was also getting shots the following day but she'd slip that in at some point. "Hold on babe I've got something for you." The ice demon said getting up she dissapeared and reappeared with a book, one about mythical creatures no less and it had a large section on dragons. She also handed Taren his glasses who imedietly curled under her arm looking down at the book expectantly. And thus Silen was able to lull him into sleep with facts about the origins of dragons which didn't much hold his interest but he loved the pictures. But slumber was an inescapable mistress esspicaly for the young and Taren dreamed of the pictures in that book coming to life that night and him by their side. heart heart heart

Well I’ve just but Taren to bed and I suppose I better write another update in here about my lovely boy. Well first of all I’ll put down the fact that yesterday I received two emails from D-corp a few days ago both calling Taren in for tomorrow. First of all he gets to go and visit that egg of his. I know he’s excited about it but he keeps asking if he can have one without sharp teeth. So I think he’s a little nervous and afraid as well, after all not all dragons are friendly, but it should be alright if he takes it as a baby right? Ahh okay I admit I’m worried to but it’s only an egg at the moment so I’ve got a little more time to completely freak out before it hatches and of course dragon proof the house. I’m not sure how I’m going to do that exactly y but removal of all flammable materials is a good start.
Ah yes the other is for vaccinations and that is causing me a few nightmares I assure you because well, I can imagine what aren’t reaction to having a sharp strip of metal no matter how painless will be. And really I don’t blame him but it’s one of those things that have to be done no matter how unpleasant it may be. I just hope the nurse is a good one, and are able to stop him from breaking down to the point where he’d crying and ocean, trust me I’ve seen him do it before. That kid must have tear ducts the size of bowling balls. Plus he knows if he cries I normally give into him, can’t help it really.
But I did but him a few things to cheer him up, like the dragon book I gave him today and also a Dictaphone. Because well for one I want to get him talking more, he has a surprisingly wide vocabulary for someone his age and also because although I still insist he does it he find writing hard poor mite and if he is going to have to record a diary as he grows up I would rather have it easy on him as possible.
In terms of his social growth I’m pleased, he’s actually made a couple of friends and a few semi-friends. Once he gets over that initial shyness he is actually quite the popular little guy, even those I gather don’t get o with to many others like that pretty purple snake girl seem to get on well with many seem to take a shine to him. Guess he’s probably one of the least threatening kids here. But the one that he seems most fond of is the horse kid, which is no bad thing despite his boisterous nature he’s a good kid and his dad is actually and interesting conversationalist, so all plus’s. Anyway I hope tomorrow goes well.

Taren's Dictaphone Diary.
"ummmm..." A pause. "Hello, my name is Taren. Mummy got me this special thing to speak into and record what I'm thinking. She said it's like a dairy but I don't have to write with this because I don't see well so writing is hard. Althrought she still makes me practice lots and lots. This is called a dict...dict..dict..." Another long pause where you can hear the typing on the keys on a laptop getting louder as Taren seeks out his mother for the name of the recording device. "Mummy what's the name of this?" "A Dictaphone dear." "Ah it's a dicaphon. And i'm gong to tell it about today and Mummy Silen and everything because a lot has been happening today. "
"First of all we went to see my egg. It's all smooth and felt nice, but Tyven had the same type and her's was all rough and bumpy. I liked mine better but I didn't tell Tyven that because she can be very very scary. And she can make a scary sound like when the kettle whistles but meanier. But she seems to like me and she's alright I like her abit. But she is still scary. Not like other people like Nibal he was nice and helped me build things, he had no tail like the girl I saw to day, she kept staring at me but her mum was nice and helpedd me find my mummy cus I got lost. Oh that was after I got my shots they arn't nice, it was sharp and made me cry but the pink lady gave me sweets to say sorry so I think I can forgive her. But the best person is a horse boy called Valens and he played hide and seek with me which was lots of fun and I got a lots of attention after with a bath and cuddles and a new book which was even better."
"but one bad thing is that I'm getting bigger so Mum says I can't wear any of the old stuff I used to wear anymore and got me lots of new clothes, I don't like them much they all look to small but at least they feel nice. And since I have to wear them I will but only some of them...at least Mum got me a nice necklace as well it is a beetle and it's dark blue. Which is a nice colour but not as nice as purple."

Shyness in the sand.
Summery:
Taren in not overly fond of swimming or water but it is a useful skill to have non the less and since he's fond of the warm sand of the beach and the challenge it presents in construction of his tunnels I decided he might like to learn at the beach, so I waited for a warm day when the sea was as calm as a ice lake and in a small cove I taught him the basics, he seemed very pleased with himself and it was a good day out, made better by the fact that we met another D-corp child there. Alora, a real sweetie who is almost as shy of others as Taren is. We even had lunch with her and her family which I think even Taren took to, maybe this encounter helped him get over his shyness a little.
