"Sir..."
Green eyes turned to the man in a labcoat, his clipboard was shaking as he stared into those eyes. "Yes?" A silky calm voice replied.
"A..Ahm..." the Dtech's voice trembled as he stared down the boss of the entire corporation. "One of our experiments. You need to come look at it..."
The man nodded grimly, pushing himself to a stand. Another one fail...? Please no... he sighed, stren face never changing. That was his job... To stay calm. With all he'd seen that was easy as breathing...
He slipped through the doors, mindlessly entering his security code as he did nearly every hour for the past nine years. He slipped into the chaotic room, an instant silence filling the area. The sound of his shoes could be heard as he walked across the room to the tank. "report?"
"She was stable... But we're worried... She seemed just fine until we went to get a blood sample and it was an odd color. But after that she won't trust us, the needle scared her too much and she retreated back into the tank." The D--tech tried to devote as much of his attention as possible as he rapidly typed up the full report.
"What color?"
"Blue-green..."
The man raised a brow, moving towards the tank to see the poor frigtened child. A startled cry was heard as he neared it, a female technician nearly falling from the steps. The tank quickly turned pitch black, swirling until it finally spread through all of the water.
"She exploded!" The woman cried, allready having seen enough wierd from the child allready.
"She couldn't have exploded, she just inked..." Another, calmer, tech sighed.
The boss moved up the steps, peering over his shoulder to gain completele silence. Carefully he removed his tie, then his coat, and finally the white shirt underneith dropping them in a pile where he stood. The technician's eyes widened as they stared at the odd scars and mismatch skin colors... But most of all the open skin that exposed metal merging with spine and ribs. The man shot another look over his shoulder as a few whispers were heard... This time much colder and deadlier than before.
He turned back to the inky water, placing his hand on the side help him over the edge of the tank and into the luke warm water. He took a deep breath as he dissapered under the midnight surface.
He felt around the darkness slowly, finding his lungs aching sooner than he thought... The ink stung various open flesh... He shook it from his mind as his fingers slid across a soft surface. The smooth immediatly backed up.. but not far. She'd allready placed herself in a corner. He held his hand there a moment longer, not reaching after her. Soon the smooth feeling returned, a tiny tentacle wrapping around the hand as she moved closer.
Carefully, and as slowly as he could, he lifted the girl in his arms and with a few kicks of his legs was back at the surface. As soon as the two broke the surface he gulped in the air, giving a few coughs.
The child in his arms trembled some, leaning further into his arms. "Shh..." he cooed to her, voice cracking out into another cough. He moved to the edge, slowly hoisting himself out with his free arm. "It's okay..." his voice became softer as the coughing subsided.
The D-techs looked at him expectantly as he simply gathered his clothes from the floor and left the room. Confused chatter was given to one another as soon as the doors slid shut.
The girl seemed to relax as they left the evil room. Tentacles curiously poking at the man who held her, wrapping around arms and fussing with his hair. She gave a giggle as he flinched, trying to excape the exploring tentacles. The man sighed, opening his office door after giving a tiny glance to the black footprints following him from down the hall. "That's what we pay the janitor for I guess...." he muttered rhetoricly with a shrug, hitting a code and slipping into the room.
He shuffled around, kicking a few papers here nad there out of the way to set her on the ground. He paused at the girls curious eyes, "I'm Alan..." he offered a smile, receiving one in return. "You can stay in here until we find you a good home... Okay? Just.. don't ink on the floor. Now.. I'm going ot go get cleaned off." He smiled, moving to a dwarer. After a moment of shuffling he returned with a toy doll, passing it to the cuttlefish child to keep her occupied while he went into his in-office bathroom to rinse off.

Can I keep her?
Alan had been busy with the task of finding a certian little cuttlefish settled in on his bed, whom simply watching his fingers as they rapped against the keys of his computer, a new home. The press of a button would switch him between the sets of monitors, and those monitors held several different searches... Each for a potential parent for the child staring at him.
Someone nice... She was obviously easily scared, she needed someone supportive and... Hrm. No one seemed to fit, each of them had this or that wrong. Okay so normally he wasn't so picky but... The little thing was so... Something indescribable. She needed someone perfect.
A knock on the door echoed through the silence, Alan cast a glance to another monitor, displaying a familiar kindergarden teacher on the screen. He tapped a button, announcing "Come in." as the door buzzed to let it be known it was unlocked.
Kat smiled, tucking her hands together, and stepping forward.

Journal Entry 001
Status report: Talia is growing well, becoming much more social than the first time I met her in the tank, making friends and running all over the place. Typical child behaviors, and seems to respond well to criticisms and discipline, making her an excellent project.
The only abnormal development is in her speech, which she's taken to her species form of color changes rather than english. This works okay in communication, I've learned many of the patterns, however it doesn't work in the long run...
I've had her vocals tested, and everything is top shape, no deformations, and she will speak in short sentances. I beleive this is just a personal choice, and that perhaps she'll grow out of it.
As for finding her a family, the search is slow, I don't beleive I've come across any decent matches yet. So for now, I'll continue in my care for her until a suitible parent appears.
-Alan

Metaplot: Introduction
Alan shifted in his chair, scribbling notes over several stacks of papers, a pause would come forth here and there as he stopped to read over another paper, then continue. The empty room filled only with the noises of the air conditioning, and the taps and scratches of his pencil against paper... They were harder and louder than normal almost echoing through the room.
Then the writing slowed, Alan shifted his almost glowing eyes to a black object settled close to him. Eyes went back to the paper for a moment more, finishing his last thought, then he leaned back against his chair picking up the walkie-talkie. "Talia, How are you doing?" He dropped his finger from the button and waited... It was a common thing, she'd play outside and he'd simply check in every half hour or so.
But this time... There was no reply. His heart skipped a beat, though he didn't show it. "Talia?" he questioned again, trign to calmly explain she had just gotten too busy and didn't hear him.
Nothing.
Alan gulped, "Talia?!" There wasn't anythign coming, he decided, as he jumped form his seat, rushing over to practically rip the blinds of his window open. His eyes rushed this way and that over the parking lot... Nothing. just.. pavement.
Maybe she was behind one of the cars, he reasoned, darting to his phone. He slammed his fist down on the entercom button, heart racing and his voice showed it. "Any avalable technician needs to get outside! Find Talia!" He almost shouted... Normally, level headed... Clam, like nothing could ever phase him. However this was not the month nor the topic he was willing to be calm with.
With that stated he was out of his office, rushing to the stairs. The tech would get there faster than he, since he was positioned on the top floor of something that reached over 20. The first flight he simply leaped down, only to be met with a sharp pain at the bottum. Clenching his teeth and flinching he stumbled, grabbing hold of the hand rails to start down them two by two.
By the time he got outside techs were scattered all over the area, nearly 200 of them, searching through cars the sheep pin, over the edge of the now fenced in cliff.
365 had been choesn to do the worst job of them all, she was the boss's right hand technician... The pale woman slowly started foreward. Noticible by her overdone hair and dark circles under her eyes. Slowly, without a word, she held forth the Walkie Talkie's twin.
Alan froze, gulping some. He took it, giving a cold look as he 'shut down', atleast on the outside. "Call everyone with a dragon." he shot sharply, "It's time for their first mission..."
"Yes sir..." 365 replied, shifting back a bit from the look he'd just aquired.
