Nayyara was excited to explore the training grounds of Zinris, to see all the fighters as she herself sought a path to follow. She knew she would become a blade and warrior, but the question is, what would come after that? There was always the rider like her mother, utilizing the bows. Or there was the dual blades like her grandmother, quick and dangerous but strong in their own right. A few sisters in the camp also utilized the spear for a more ranged approach. But what really resonated with her was the magical utility of the Sacred Heart.
The beauty of fighting with weapons and magic was amazing, and she saw the power both in their movements and the energy that swirled around them. It felt like a great way to connect with her aunt, to channel the energy and powers of the word and fight to protect herself and others. Plus, it would be fun to challenge herself.
Now that she had traveled away from Pyrrah, she didn't have a good mentor to follow down that path during her trip abroad, and so she wandered about to observe others. The sacred Heart was a powerful, adaptable fighter, who utilized spells of abjuration and evocation. It seemed like a challenge, but an exciting one, and already Nayyara's fingertips seemed to buzz with the idea of learning such complicated tasks.
Plus, if she were lucky, she could find an Earthling or Kahkinan to cross study with, becoming a true master of the art. Seriously, trying to learn both Aishan and Earthling spells seemed like a really fun experience at the end of the day.
The question now, was what weapon. Every time she picked up a bow, it felt a bit flimsy and she hated the ache from using it. The two swords were fine, but she wasn't sure how well she'd do with magic. And the spear just felt off-kilter for her size for some reason.
What she knew was she needed something fast, something she could quickly move around with and sling spells at the same time. As she wandered, she found a store house with weapons collected from pillaging and protecting the village. There were big axes, long swords, and big shields.
It was the whip in the corner that caught her eye. Long, sharp, and with a nice crack in the air, it seemed perfect to use to distract an enemy as she began to spell sling. She could also have a dagger or two in her hip in case the whip broke or was pulled away, a surefire way to protect herself in any situation.
Grinning at the thought, she was determined to find someone to teach her how to use these weapons. She'd learn the magic from her sisters, but this weapon would be a good excuse to work with some Earthlings along her travels. Sure, many of the sisters would think it strange, but at the end of the day the idea was to use weapons to defend and attack, and this weapon was sure to do just that.
Wrapping the whip on her hip and sheathing a dagger in her waist, she'd need to find a good holster for both before she left on her trip. She'd also need to find a way to get her mother on board for the unconventional but very useful weapons.
It was time to become a warrior, and she'd do whatever she needed to make sure she was the best warrior she could be, both with her weapons and the magic she would use to enhance her attacks.

Growth Quest

[Nayyara and Zayana have finished their visit to Zinris and are on their way back to the coast to travel to the mainland. Nayyara reflects on the trip so far, and how she's grown after visiting her mother's tree.]
Nayyara was atop a Limbara, behind her mother who was leading the beast back through the forest and toward the Yaeli settlements. When her mother had reunited with her mouth, Nayyara left them alone for an emotional reunion. Thankfully, an Elaria who was friends with Zayana had kept the creature trained, so they could easily get back on and ride away once their journey was done.
The ride back was somber, with her mother deep in thought. Although their family was across the sea, Nayyara could tell her mother left her heart back at the roots of Elzira. She had grown up under those branches, dancing among the roots, and to leave her great mother once more must have been heartwrenching. Nayyara wondered if her mother regretted it, and wished to stay.
It was hard to imagine, considering after her trip she'd return home, but she tried. Tried to believe she could make the choice of family over home. It was easy, at least in retrospect, but Nayyara wasn't 100% certain if she could tear part of herself apart to move away from her tree. She'd at least want to return, and her mother didn't quite get that liberty.
Now, Nayyara was growing outside of her roots. She had made a decision that was life changing in the fact she wanted to pursue the Sacred Heart path of her tribe. She'd be training alone, possibly with Earthlings who might have similar magic, while they moved through Tendaji and toward Chibale. This time, her mother would be in the same place as her, a foreigner seeking to meet a deity that was unknown. Her grandmother's name would hopefully give them passage to the isle, but what after? How might they get a chance to see the tree in Belrea?
It was all a bit overwhelming, now they were both traveling into the unknown, and Nayyara started to question herself. Could she do this? Could she defend herself if attacked? Sure they'd have their Limbara, but she was young, still weak and early in her journey. She should be training under Esena, not out in the open where she could be killed.
Her hands began to sweat as she felt anxious. She didn't want to lose her family...or be in danger. She wasn't afraid to fight, but afraid to fail. She didn't know enough, she wasn't skilled enough, she wasn't ready. Her mother was here, but she was only one person...and they weren't trained warriors. They fought, sure, but not an enemy.
Nayyara knew this was a dangerous part of their journey. They'd be traveling into a land that hadn't seen Elidae before, who hadn't welcomed extremists. They'd need to be careful, to be cautious, and she'd need to train hard to be able to pull her own weight. It was a lot of pressure, but that was part of why she started this journey. She wanted to grow, to thank the great mothers and learn the world. The easy part was over, it was time to begin.
