Iriyana finally returned home after a day of shopping with her soon to be mother-in-law. To say she was exhausted was an understatement. The woman had basically dragged her to every shop in town to look at things and try things on. Add in the excitement her aunts showed and their input as well and Riya was positively sure she was ready to tell Ergon she just wanted to elope. The fuss that had happened on the shopping trip was more than enough to make her want to hide in her room for days. Or just sleep for that long.
She had no idea there was so much planning that went into a wedding. It made her wonder if it had been this way for her own parents’ wedding. Had they made such a big fuss? Was it a large one or a small one? What had her mother worn? She’d never asked before. Then again Iriyana had never shown an interest in anything super girly. She was always more interested in her bow and what she could hunt in the area she was in. All of this planning stuff might be out of her league in the long run. It required a girly touch or at the very least the eye for sute things.
Riya sighed as she flopped onto her bed face first. After hitting it and bouncing up she simply laid there for a minute before she rolled over onto her side. “I wonder if Ergon would be opposed to eloping…” She asked the empty room. Of course she knew it was out of the question. It would upset too many people. His mother, her mother. Riya didn’t think she could bring herself to actually do that. No matter how much she was stressing about about the actual planning.
Still, she had managed to find a dress that she had absolutely adored. A fur-lined dress that seemed somewhat form fitting and had a low neck line to show off her crystals. If nothing else she was proud of her crystal formation, it looked like a necklace all on its own. She had also managed to talk Ergon’s mother into letting her have a belt with a dagger as part of her bridal outfit. It had taken some convincing to be sure but at least she’d won that bit. What she’d lost in the process was that her hair was going to have some fancy adornments. Being that Riya hardly ever did anything with her hair it was a little bit odd for her but she’d allowed it. A veil and some flowers weren’t so bad. She just hoped that the woman wouldn’t go overboard on the flowers.
“I can at least mark the dress off the list. Hair is still debatable. We agreed on a place to have the ceremony..” She ticked off a few things with her fingers but groaned as she realized there was so much more to do. “How do other girls do this without losing their minds?” She rolled over again and stared at the door wishing that Ergon would come home so she could cuddle up with him. That would surely make her feel better after an eventful day. As she stared at the bedroom door she slowly became sleepy and before too long she passed out, laying across the bed the wrong way and still in her clothes. A well deserved nap after a tiring day of being a girly girl.
(( Riya has begun making plans for her upcoming wedding. This is a step toward her future with Ergon as his wife and no longer just his girlfriend. It also means she will settle fully in Zena and no longer bounce between it and Sauti. ))
