Getting in a Bit of Practice

Callistos was moving in graceful, fluid movements on the stage in the inn. It was pretty empty today save for a few people that were glancing his way as he went about his routine. It was a simple dance, like nothing his mother was able to do but he was doing his best to try to at least look good. He didn't want his dancing, which was still a bit crude, to be so terrible that the inn's reputation took a hit. His mother was able to draw crowds... though he supposed that her being female would help out in that instance. It was something that he knew he was going to have to make up for by making sure his dancing skills were amazing! If he was able to dance in a way that could draw the attention of anyone and everyone even as a male then he would on the right track.

After finishing up with his dance he found himself getting a couple of claps from some of the people that were hanging out around the inn. Li stood up tall, glancing toward those clapping, before he gave a deep bow to them. Well, that went well. Sure they were the only ones around and he was the only entertainment at this time of day, but Li would happily take it. Hopping own off the stage he walked over to where the bar stood, reaching behind it to grab a mug, then went to scoop himself out of the barrel of purified water. He took a long sip from it before he started to go through his routine in his head, taking mental notes on where he could get better, things he should add, and how to become a better dancer. He would need to take it up with his mother during their next lesson.

Leaning against the bar he gave a humming sound, wondering if he should do the dance again or should he wait for his mother? He could always practice parts of the dance until she was finished chatting with the merchant from Dernd that she worked with a lot. It was the warmer months so she wasn't looking for as many pieces from Uli and Riya's father, but the moment it started to get colder she would likely be buying up more furs. Instantly he found himself thinking about what he might need for the coming winter... but couldn't think of anything straight away. His mother had been amazing when he was younger, going as far as to buy him a full mammu fur of his own which was the absolute best thing to hide under to keep warm. Add in that, at times at least, he had Uli and Riya to curl up with as well he'd been fine as far as the cold went.

Now that they were getting older though he kind of doubted that they would get away with that anymore. Sure, Uli might be able to camp in his room still when they visited, but Riya would likely be banished to her own room since she was a girl. Given that she wouldn't be able to sleep in his room for obvious reasons would Uli choose to stay with his sister instead of with Li when he stayed over? He'd have to ask the next time he came over what his plans were going to be. From what he gathered they were going to be visiting again soon but he supposed that he wasn't exactly in any rush to figure that out, not when it was still so warm that he didn't want to share space with anyone when it came time to sleep. Even his mammu fur had been roll up and banished to its place under his bed where it would stay until it got cold enough to bring it forth again.

Shaking his head Li decided that worries that pertained to winter weren't really worth took much of his time, not now, not when it was still warm. Especially not when he had a lot more to worry about at the moment then the fact that one of his two best friends was going to start getting restrictions put on her. A shame since he really did like Riya... too bad both she wasn't born a boy too or else they wouldn't even have to worry about her gender and the fact that it wouldn't allow her to do certain things. They would just have to have their fun as a group of friends during the times when it wasn't as taboo he supposed.

After finishing up his drink he put his mug back where it belonged so that he could use it later, then gave a little whistle, "Hey, Branko, I'm heading outside if you want to join me!" An invitation that instantly had the massive snaptrotter that was sleeping behind the bar on his feet. It was but a moment later that the big creature emerged, tromping over to where Li stood, giving a little huffing sound. Leaning over the prentice gave him a scratch under the chin, "You really are wonderful." He told him before heading for the door.

Li knew that he had a bit more time that was his own before his dance lessons started to he might as well take a walk. It would be a good work out which, as a dancer, he really needed to focus on. While one might think that it was any easy job it really wasn't, he'd learned that being in peak physical condition was rather important. He bet that he was in as good a shape as a warrior even! Well... a normal warrior at least, not a Gyuri sized warrior. He highly doubted that he'd ever end up in that good a shape, but he was happy with where he was presently. He looked good for his age, though as he got older he hoped to continue to push himself.

Once outside he glanced around, taking in everything that was going on, then gave a smile. He realized now that he'd stepped out that if he was outside he'd be able to see when his mother was done chatting with the merchant! Awesome, that meant he would be able to catch up with her and talk shop before his lessons. He might have to carry things inside but that didn't bother him too much. The inn would be his one day so he was going to have to be prepared for that side of the work as well. Glancing at Branko he said, "We are going to do a couple laps around the inn then join my mother once she's done." With that the two of them started off on their walk, with Li making it a brisk one so that he could work on building his stamina.

Growth Solo: Future Plans

(( Li has been planning what is his first project to help to improve the inn that he will one day take over. It's a simple plan but he's given it a lot of thought, wanting to make sure that it's completely perfect before presenting it to his mother. While she is a wonderful person when it comes to being a mother she's intimidating as the leader of the inn, which causes him to go over his plans several times over just in case. Once his plans are ready and his courage is gathered he means to bring them to Eira. ))

Callistos looked up from the papers that he was sketching on. It wasn't the best sketches because artwork wasn't really his strong suit, but it was enough that he felt his mother would be able to understand what it was that he was going for. On his little map was the inn itself, the stables, and the bathhouse that was still under construction at the moment. That stuff was all represented by the right shaped boxes and from there he'd started to add in his various ideas. It was a tough thing really. He wanted to spruce things up, to make the inn look that much more flashy and welcoming through various plants, and also have plants that were functional. Those that would actually have a purpose that was more then just looking pretty.

He'd already talked to Lilif who seemed to be more then willing to fetch him some seeds and saplings while she was on her world tour. That would help to fill in the gaps that he wasn't able to fill with plants that he'd get by gathering them by hand or purchasing them from the various nearby villages of Sauti and Tale that were near to the inn. On top of that he had already talked to Uli who was willing to help out with a lot of the work using the magic that he was going to be using in the future. He'd be able to help plant things, water things, make sure that they grew up healthy and strong with those powers of his! It really was what he felt would be a promising starting point.

The plants that would be grown in small plots in front of the inn, those that would be there for aesthetic reasons only would be nice but it was the rest of the plants that Li really wanted to focus on. What he was most really interested in was the idea of starting up some gardens. Being able to raise vegetables and fruit for the inn would give the visitors more options for what they wanted to eat depending on which things were in season. There would be things that they would have the option of drying and saving, so that they could have things on hand during on the winter. On top of all of and maybe the most important factor was that it would save them money! He knew that a lot of things had to be obtained from various merchants but they could cut down on those costs if they were to grow things on their own.

He'd been thinking on this plan for some time now, bouncing ideas off his friends as well as other members of the troupe, wanting to perfect his plan the best that he could. Gyuri was probably the easiest to bounce ideas off of because he could talk all he wanted and the big man mostly nodded his head in agreement with the ideas that Callistos came up with. The fact that he didn't really talk much made him perfect for that particular job when Uli wasn't around. Now he just had to hope that his mother would be as agreeable as Gyuri had appeared to be.

Lifting a hand up he rested it against his chest, taking in a deep breath, and then let it out slowly. Li loved his mother very much and as a mother she was wonderful, exactly what he felt anyone would want out of a parent. She'd always made sure that he never really wanted for anything and that he was well trained for the future ahead. As a mother she was perfect... but there was so much more to her though that made her rather intimidating at times. There was her skill as a dancer, the way that she ran the inn so smoothly, how she seemed to be able to talk to anyone and keep the peace no matter what. She was like a force of nature that could seemingly part the seas around her. He knew everything that she was capable of and that one day he had to be on the same level as her so that he could take over the inn. That was what he was meant to do after all, what he'd been raised for, and just thinking about it was... well, a bit terrifying.

Callistos knew full well wasn't ready yet but he felt that the project he was working on really was the first step toward trying to begin to fill his mother's shoes. It was just a small step forward but it should at least show her that he wasn't a child any longer at the very least, right? It would prove that he was ready for more responsibility as well. That was all that he wanted for at the moment though. He didn't want to take over the place, didn't want her to consider letting him be in charge in any capacity, he just wanted to do a bit more then just dance lessons and the occasional chance to dance on the stage in the inn. He knew that everyone came to the inn because they loved his mother, enjoyed talking to her, and watching her dance. It was something that even he was fascinated by. All the more reason not to want to even consider taking over yet. There were still years between him and such a monumental decision.

While he had zero interest in leading yet he could only hope that he'd be allowed to go forward with his plans for the various gardens and trees that he wanted to raise alongside his friends. The only thing that he worried about and that might cause her to say no would be all the dirt. Would she allow her son and heir to go digging around in the earth so work with plants? It was something that could cause him to look messy or get work roughened hands, all the things that he worried about. Not that he thought such things below him but they were things that might make him reflect poorly upon his mother and all that she'd done to this point. Still, it was a project that he wanted to work on! There had to be a way to go forward with things without dealing with all the negative ideas that popped up in his head right?

After looking over the plans he was sketching one last time he rolled them up, hopped to his feet, and started toward the inn. There was really only one way to figure it all out and that was going to talk with his mother. He had to show her what he was planning, get her opinions, and if he was lucky get her go ahead. He offered up a prayer to Chi as he went, took another deep breath, and headed inside the inn for the meeting with his mother.
