Callistos had gone outside for a bit of morning air when he'd noticed something that was odd coiled up not far from the inn. At first he'd thought that it was just a curled up sail scale, one that was resting in the sun, sleeping off a meal... but as he got closer he realized that it was something else. It was something... odd. It had no limbs, no wings, it was a serpent covered in various crystals that seemed almost see through. He could see its very bones!
His eyes went a bit wide as he starred at the weird thing before him before he started to walk slowly toward it. It was weird and he wanted to get a better look... but as he got closer it started to slither off at a rather rapid pace. Callistos gave a little gasp saying, "Hey wait, come back!" With that he gave chase, hoping to catch up to... well, whatever the thing was.

Lilif was walking down a good sized river. As she looked around for some more stones to bring home she hears a familiar voice yelling a ways away. She raised an eyebrow and she starts to walk down the river faster. She starts to remember who that voice belongs to and she starts to run down the river, nearly slipping on the wet smooth rocks. She squeaks as she plunges into the river. As she quickly stands back up, dripping wet, she continues to run until she sees Callistos. She grins when she finally sees him.

Callistos gave momentary pause when he heard a great 'splash' from the river that was near the inn, wondering for a moment if some giant fish was jumping around. He shook his head, telling himself that he had to focus if he wanted to catch up with the serpent. Of course even knowing that he couldn't but to glance toward the river and instead of a fish coming up out of the water it would appear that it was Lilif doing so instead. He blinked slowly a couple of times, looking confused, "Lilif?" He murmured, looking surprised that she was not only back but... swimming? He shifted from foot to foot before he called out, "Come on, Lilif! Help me catch this snake!" He called out to his strange, red haired friend before whirling around on his heel and was once more giving chase. If he wasn't careful he'd lose sight of it and it would get away! Not something that he wanted to see happen since it would be quite the shame.

Lilif stood back up and shook off and grins. She get’s out of the river and starts to run after him. She Didn’t say much as she had felt a bit embarrassed with her clumsiness. A wide grin spreads across her face when he said the word ‘snake’. She took a deep breath and tried to run faster too catch up to him so she can help.

Callistos gave a glance over his shoulder, to make sure that Lilif was following him, before looking forward once more. He wanted to find that strange serpent, to attempt to catch it, but as he got closer to it the beast duck into a rocky out cropping, disappearing despite it's brightly colored form. He came to a sliding halt, nearly tripping over his own feet, "Ah! No..." It got away..? No! He had a chance to find it still, he just had to search, carefully, among the rocks. "Be careful, Lilif! I am not sure where it went!" He called over his shoulder before he started to search around for the beast. Surely it had to be in somewhere within the rocks, right? Meaning that they just had to search and maybe they could find it!

She dug her feet into the dirt so she could stop quickly but that just made her trip and fall right onto her face. She groans softly and sits up, spitting out some dirt and a rock. Lilif then picks the rock up and looks it over before she put it in her pocket. She stands up, her everything hurting now, as she started too look around for the the snake. But before she could really even look something caught her eye, Rocks, Rocks everywhere. Her eyes widen in glee as she started to pick up so col rock and put them into her pockets. “Did you catch a glimpse of what the snake looked like?” Lilif asked Callistos as she picked up more rocks.

Callistos turned to look over at Lilif, who had managed to fall over again, and he rested his hands on his hips before saying, "You're as graceful as ever, Lilif." He said in a teasing manner before he turned his attention back to the outcropping of rocks that the serpent had vanished into. The creature had to be in there somewhere, right? So why was it that he couldn't seem to find it? The thing was a bright enough color that one would think it would be easy... and yet nothing. Giving a little shake of his head he gave Lilif a glance, about to ask her if she'd seen anything... only to find her pocketing rocks instead. He starred for a moment, then sighed. It seemed that he didn't pick the best partner when it came to snake hunting. At the same time she'd been his only choice on such short notice. As she asked what the beast looked like he said, "Like nothing I've seen before! It was like a sailscale but... but one without wings! It was strange!"

Lilif looks around and starts too look for the snake after she got a good amount of rocks for home. “No wings, huh? Could it just have a birth mutation? I hear that can sometimes happen” Lilif said, looking around for this snake thing. She blinks a bit and wipes a bit of blood off her eye where a cut above her eyebrow was bleeding which she had gotten from falling. She sighs softly when she looks at her hnd and see the blood. “Jeez I hate head wounds…” She mumbles and looks down at the rocks closely, looking for any color that stands out from the rest of the colors of the normal rock.

"Yeah, that was what I was thinking at first but... do things like that live long in the wild?" He was a little unsure if a strange, wingless sailscale would last long. Wouldn't predators want to eat such a creature since it would surely be weaker then the rest of its clutch? He couldn't ready say but Callistos knew what he saw and it was a serpent without wings! They just had to find it so that he could prove that it was real! He wasn't just seeing things. Just as he thought that he heard Lilif saying something about 'head wounds' which had him turning toward her... then he gave a cry of surprise, "W-What in the...? Lilif! What did you do?!" He demanded of the girl, taking a couple steps closer to her so that he could look the wound over. At the moment his uncle wasn't home, meaning no quick fix. As such he was quick to take off the sash that he was wearing. He bundled up part of the cloth before he moved to tie it into place, "You need to be more careful, Lilif. What happens if you came got hurt around some sort of big, hungry beast?"

“They can live long if they have someone to be protected by” Lilif said, still looking. She looks harder, wanting to find it really bad now. She wondered if It was a sailscale of something else. She looks at Callistos and chuckled at how determined he was, finding it kind of cute. She looked back down and continued to look. She squeaked when he yelled and her eyes widened. “U-uh, If t-there was a big b-beast, I would r-run…” She says quietly, she whimpers as he ties the sash around her head, eyes now shut tightly. “I-i’m sorry..” She says feeling as though she has done something bad.

And probably trip he thought to himself when she said that she would run if she ran across a 'big beast' but he didn't say that out loud. Instead he gave a smile and said, "Come on, it doesn't seem as though we are going to find the serpent so maybe we should go and get your head looked at? If we don't you might lure in a pack of sailscales that want to try to nibble on you." As she apologized he shook his head, "Naw, it seemed the thing had a good escaped plan and it's probably miles from here now. I will keep an eye out for it and do my best to catch it if it pops up again." Here was to hoping.

She sniffles a bit and wipes her eyes, trembling a bit. “O-okay… I’m sorry that I got myself hurt” She mumbles a bit, trying to not cry. She looks down at the ground, very quiet. “If I didn’t distract you, you might have gotten it..” She said, looking down and her arms are crossed over her midsection. Lilif seems quite worried now, thinking He’s mad at her now.

Callistos gave a laugh as he said, "Maybe... but after I caught it then what? My mother would probably have freaked out if I tried to bring a snake inside the inn. She was mad enough when Uncle Makani brought back a sailscale that followed him home." He gave Lilif a smile, then ruffled her hair as he said, "It's probably best that we didn't catch up with it... though I'd of like to have gotten a better look at it. Maybe next time." Holding a hand out to Lilif he said, "Come on, let's head back, Lilif." He gave the area one last look around, just in case, before shaking his head. No luck, but maybe they would have luck next time. For now though they should worry about getting Lilif looked over to make sure that she was alright. Head wounds were notorious for being a pain as far as how much they bled. It would be best to get her patched up then maybe they could search for the weird serpent again later.
