A 'Normal' Sort of Morning

Shesha gave a smile as he looked at himself in the large mirror in front of himself, turning his head from side to side, then turned his attention back to products laying before him. Reaching out he picked up a dark pencil, setting to work lining his eyes to make them pop a bit more then usual. His beautiful Lady Alhana had one told him of her love of his eyes, something that caused him to do his utmost to enhance them. Anything for his lady because the more that he did to please her the more that she spoiled him. If there was something that Shesha loved it was being spoiled, so why not spend a few more moments in the morning dolling himself up? It was more then worth it if you asked him.

Once his eyes had been lined he then set to work adding some color to his lips, giving a smile after he did so, "Hmm, very nice. I would most certainly run into my own arms if I saw me somewhere... provided of course that the other me was wealthy." He purred at his reflection." Pushing himself up to his feet he brushed his hands against himself before he moved to sweep up his beautiful, glittering drape which he wrapped around his shoulders before stepping into his sandals. With that done he started out of the beautiful room that was given to him by his lady and into the hallway, all but strutting along as he went. Now that he was looking his best it was time for him to go and find Lady Alhana, to see what she was up to, to see if she needed him, and do all he could to keep her in good spirits since that was his job. It was as he got closer to her room, one kept separate from that of her husband Lord Fiath given that their relationship was one that seemed to be of convenience at best, he heard what sounded like a muffled argument.

Seemed as though the two of them were having a 'chat' he thought to himself before he turned, leaning against the wall outside the door as the two of them spoke. It started out muffled, then grew to something a lot louder and more colorful, as per the norm with them. Tilting his head he listened to the argument and couldn't say that he was all that surprised over what he was hearing, she was shrieking about his 'many women' and that he was to keep them 'away from her things'. Well now, Lord Fiath was growing daring, wasn't he? He was actually allowing his strumpets to get into Lady Alhana's things? Allowing them to get into her clothing and wear her jewelry? He was actually surprised that she hadn't strangled them... or had she? That would be quite the mess, wouldn't it? Imagine what might happen if such a well know woman was arrested for murdering one of her husband's mistresses?

No, that probably wouldn't happen now would it? Even if something that violent were to happen Lord Fiath wouldn't let that news outside the house, would just get rid of the body. The two might not get along but they had their uses for one another, he wouldn't throw her away only to find himself all alone since that would put Lord Fiath in a pinch with Lady Alhana's family. The two of them walked an interesting line, one that allowed Lord Fiath to have his extra women that came and went which in turn caused Lady Alhana to get back at him by keeping Shesha. It all worked out for Shesha since it meant that he had her as a patron, and despite the arguments, no matter how bad they could get, it wasn't as though they would break up. It would end up as one hell of a mess if they did... not that he'd stick around.

The door that he was standing beside slammed open hard enough to shake the wall, causing him to turn his head to the side, watching as Lord Fiath came stalking out of the room... and was followed by a vase of flowers that he was narrowly dodged. Said vase crashed against the wall across from the bedroom door, something that caused Shesha's eyes to go a little wide, "Oh dear." He murmured, his two simple words calling Lord Fiath's attention to where he was standing.

The man turned to face him, his eyes blazing with anger, "I should have known that you would be skulking about somewhere, Shesha." He spat out, taking a step forward as though he were about to start something with him... pausing when he saw Lady Alhana standing in her doorway. The two meet gazes before Lord Fiath spat out a string of curses, turning on his heel, before he went stomping down the hall, yelling at servant to 'clean up the mess' which he assumed meant the vase.

Pushing away from the wall Shesha looked to Lady Alhana, "Is there anything you need, my dear lady?" He asked of her, concern showing in his voice as he closed the space between the of them, reaching out to take the woman's hand in his. It was actually shaking, speaking of the anger that the beautiful woman was currently filled with. Not surprising, who wanted to see their things worn by some whore after all? Shesha would be equally as angry if Lord Fiath's women came anywhere near his room, making him wonder if he should take stock of his things to make sure that it hadn't happened. He could see Lord Fiath trying that sort of move, striking out his wife through Shesha, which would only cause her to want to strike back through Shesha as well. Those fights tended to get messy, but if that was what she wanted he'd do it. Anything to keep her happy.

The woman blinked a couple times, looking toward Shesha, down the hall after Lord Fiath, and back again. Giving a little huffing sound she said, "Come, you're going to help me get ready, then we are going shopping." Something that sounded so simple and mundane, but something that Shesha knew would end up with them spending a good amount of coin on the two of them, new clothing, jewelry, and make up, all to shove in Lord Fiath's face. It should prove interesting he thought to himself as he followed her into her room, ready to help her to get ready for a day of shopping.

A Boring Morning and a Wonderful Gift!

Shesha was sitting in his room, running a comb through his wavy red hair, a somewhat bored look on his face. His Lady Alhana had gone out to meet with a salesman, telling him that she would return before midday, thus leaving him on his own. It was kind of strange since it wasn't often that she went anywhere without him unless she was going out somewhere with Lord Fiath. What made today so odd was that she hadn't left home with her husband since he was still present. In fact she'd taken the powerful bodyguard that the two of them shared instead, making him wonder what was going on and why she'd left him behind. So long as she wasn't out finding herself a new boy toy then he supposed that he shouldn't worry.

"Hmm, I wonder what I should spend my morning doing then." He mused to himself, setting to work putting a few decorative little braids into his hair merely as something to do. He supposed there was any number of things that he could do so long as they didn't involve leaving the house. He couldn't really go out since his bodyguard of choice was with Lady Alhana. At the same time wandering around the house could mean dealing with Lord Fiath and that man could be infuriating on his best day. What might be do if he were to catch Shesha when Lady Alhana wasn't around? It might well be a good idea to just stick to his room then. Meaning he would have to entertain himself... somehow. Bored with fiddling with his hair the pretty Shesha walked across his room to the double doors that led to a balcony, pushing it open to let in air and the sounds of Sulburri.

He starred outside for a moment before he fetched his drape, pulling it over his head and around his shoulders to protect himself from the strong sunlight. Once it was in place he stepped outside walking forward to lean against the railing, looking out over the city. Lady Alhana was out there somewhere, meeting with a merchant, and Shesha was... well, here, alone and bored. It was days like today when he had little to do that he found himself once more looking toward the future. There would be a time when he was well known not just for the ones that he spent his time with but because Shesha was Shesha. He wanted to become more then just arm candy after all though he couldn't say it was a terrible position in life. For one his age, especially where he'd come from originally, he'd say that he was doing fairly well for himself. As far as gaining further position and power went he knew it would mean more work on his part. He went to all the parties that he could attend, rubbed elbows with various important people, listened to all the rumors and gossip, learned everything he could.

One day some of that information was going to help him move ever upwards toward a position of real power so he had to listen carefully and closely, making sure to take in every last detail. His mind fluttered for a moment to the 'little fish' that he'd meet a few days ago in the market place, a touch of a smile appearing on his lips. Now that one, he was interesting. Not because of who he was or what he was, he was little more then a low class fish after all. Instead he was interest because he had once belonged to Lord Parthlio, the Beast Lord, and had made it through the experience unscathed for the most part. He was sure he bore scars, be them physical or mental, but he was in better condition then most that crossed that one. Were he to gain true power he'd want that one at his side if only to aggravate Lord Parthlio further. There was just something about baiting a man like him that sounded amusing to Shesha. Likely the danger involved, which could be why he'd bothered to aid the little fish in the first place. Not as though he really had any further reason to do so since those that Aqio was bound to weren't of a great interest to him.

There was a Rider and his Assassin lover, an interesting enough couple but they lacked any chinks between them that would allow Shesha too close. As such they weren't of any use to him. Neither was Aqio, not really, save for baiting one person. A game that would likely only be fun for a short amount of time before he got bored and wanted to move on. There were more important things to life then games after all. For a moment he found himself wondering if he might run into the little fish again, but realized that it was probably unlikely. Not as though Aqio would be attending any of the parties that Shesha went to and he doubted they would run across each other at random too often since the last go around Aqio had been sneaking around without his caretaker's approval. The question became would the little fish dare to do so after his run in with the Beast Lord? It seemed fairly unlikely, especially given the man's continued interest in the prey that had eluded his fangs. Meeting with the little fish again was something that wasn't likely to happen so he shouldn't think too hard about it.

Hearing a voice calling out to him he turned to look toward the door to his room, "Lady Alhana?" Pushing to his feet he started toward the door to his room, a bright smile appearing on his lips as he saw her. Now that she was back he felt himself feeling so much better, less lonely and bored, and he hurried to her side, "You're back! I'm so glad, I missed you while you were away, Lady Alhana." Even if she wasn't gone for that terribly long he was still happy to see her appear before him.

The woman gave a soft laugh, drawing the younger man into her arms for a snuggle and a kiss, before she said, "Don't worry, little Shesha, I'm back." Lifting up a little cage she offered it up to him, giving him a bright smile.

Shesha blinked a couple times as he took the little cage, looking inside of it, before he found himself starring in a wide eyed manner, "Ahh... wow... what is it? It looks a bit like a sprite but it doesn't have any wings." He recalled some time ago that he'd mentioned his interest in having a sprite, finding the creatures to be quite lovely. This thing though, it was different then any sprite he'd ever seen though!

Giving a chuckle the woman said, "This is better then a sprite, it's a special little creature from a far away land, it's called an 'imp' and it was brought here a while ago by some hunters. I figured that while a sprite would be nice and rare it didn't seem good enough for you. No, I had to find you something else, something better, something beyond rare, and so I got you the imp." She knew that Shesha had a love of rare things and it made the purchase of the imp something that was beyond important.

After Shesha opened up the cage, allowing the imp step out onto his hand so he could look it over he looked over at Lady Alhana and said, "The imp is very gorgeous. Thank you so very much!"

An Annoying 'Old Man'

"Has anyone ever told you that you have a great potential for magic?" A voice asked Shesha, something that drew the attention of the beautifully done up Oban. It was an older man who'd been speaking to him, one who was well dressed, carrying a rather ornate looking staff in his hand right hand, and had a pretty nice smile. He was most definitely someone that had money, which interested Shesha, though he wondered about the words the man had said. What was that? A come on line, perhaps? It was an interesting one if that's what it was, he'd give the man that, enough so that he felt that it was only right that he gave him a bit of his time since he'd never heard a line like that one.

Given the man his very best smile Shesha said, "You know I've heard a lot of interesting pick up lines in my time but I think that might be the strangest one to date." To think that someone would actually come up with something like that, but he had to give credit where credit was due he supposed.

The man gave a little chuckle before he said, "Were it a pick up line I suppose that it would be a little strange, but to be perfectly honest it was not. I actually sense a dormant power within you, you man, one that could very well blossom into something great so long as you were willing to put in the work."

Shesha found himself starring, despite the fact that he knew very well that it was a rude thing to do. The man was actually talking about magic power? Not only that he had the potential for something so strange and wondrous but that he could also hone the power into something great. The man's comment about it being something Shesha could learn were he willing to 'put in the work' was something that caused his hackles to rise a little. As though he were so lazy a person that he wouldn't put in the work when it came to actually gaining such a worthwhile power. Crossing his arms over his chest Shesha said, "I can assure you that were I to decide I wanted these magical powers that you speak of I would in fact put the work in." Try as he might not to sound as annoyed as he felt he knew it was at least coloring his tone of voice just a little.

The man gave a chuckle, "I am sure that is the case. I know much about you after all, were you came from, how hard you worked to get here, and the fighting spirit that you have within you. That strong spirit of yours is what gives you such potential." Lifting his free hand he took Shesha's chin in his hand, turning his face from side to side, inspecting him closely, "Yes, I can see it in your eyes, the power you hold... not to mention the slightly feral look you have about you. You dress up nicely but one can still tell you're a stray when one looks close enough."

A comment that actually drew a hiss from Shesha, "I don't appreciate being called a 'stray'. Surely you must know that you aren't going to make any friends using such insulting terms. I am a person after all, not a perzi." He said, stepping back to escape the man's hand, only to have him catch hold of Shesha's upper arm this time, drawing him in closer, "How dare you you man handle me like this, I am of a mind to knock you senseless, old man."

With another chuckle the man murmured, "No reason to bare your fangs at me. I don't mean to insult you. If anything I am just impressed, to have someone from a more 'wild' background at a party such as this, dolled up as you are, and all but glowing with magical potential. It makes me want to steal you away for myself."

It was a comment akin to those Shesha had heard in the past, and yet now it caused his cheeks to color a touch, "Well... maybe I don't want to be stolen away by you, old man! I still have quite a nice set up with Lady Alhana." He said, though oddly she seemed to be rather busy during this particular party, off doing other things, which allowed Shesha to be accosted by this old man and his grabby hands. Shesha was normally quite amiable when it came to his Lady Alhana but he might have to have words with her after what he was being forced to deal with at the moment he thought to himself crossly. The angrier that he got though the more and more amused the 'old man' seemed to be getting though.

Finally releasing Shesha the man leaned in closer, his face close to Shesha's ear, "If that ever changes then you should come and find me. I will still take you in even though you keep insulting me and calling me an old man. A few grays hairs does not an old man make, my dear." Stepping back from Shesha the man gave a smile and said, "Consider it, you can't just be arm candy forever. Surely you want for more then that? I am offering you just that, feel free to accept my offer when you're ready... though I will expect you to come with a smile on your lips and an apology on your tongue."

With that the man was walking away, leaving a fuming Shesha standing alone, the man's words echoing in his ears. How he wanted to knock that man senseless... but it wouldn't be very nice of him would it? Not to mention that he didn't want to attract that kind of attention to himself. Being known as someone that took a swing at an 'old man' at a party wasn't the sort of attention that Shesha wanted. Being accosted by that fool wasn't the attention he wanted either... he might just call it a day, find Lady Alhana, claim illness, and head for home he thought to himself as he moved to find her. He was a bit exhausted now and wanted nothing more then to put some distance between himself and the 'old man'.

Growth Solo: Change of Scenery

(( Shesha's faced with a choice between staying in a cushy place where he gets spoiled, but risks being forgotten, or going someplace new where he will have to work hard, without a lot of spoiling, but have a chance to become something great in the future.

After much debate, and a lot of worry, he decides to go with the latter in hopes of become a court mage or something similarly grand with time. ))

Shesha gave a sound much akin to a sigh as he looked into the dining room where Lady Alhana was at the moment, listening in as she chatted with and cooed at a too cute boy that had been staying with them for a couple of weeks. His name was Lorne and Shesha didn't much care for him, not in the least bit, nor did he care for this new change in what had been a comfortable enough existence. He'd known that something was up for a while, with Lady Alhana being away from home more often then what was usual even for her, then for her to show up with a new pet on her arm, this one much different then Shesha himself. It had been both surprising and annoying, making him want nothing more then to get rid of the brat.

Were he to compare the two of them Shesha would be a pristine, prissy perzi who was beautiful and aloof while that one was stupid janarim pup that seemed to bounce around, constantly seeking attention from Lady Alhana. There were even times when he showed himself to be rude and uncouth by referring to her as merely 'Alhana' instead of using her proper title. He was completely different from Shesha and while his presence hadn't exactly ousted him from his place in the household per say he still didn't like it. Sharing Lady Alhana's attention and time, along with the 'pup' as well as any gifts that she might want to given out to just Shesha before Lorne's arrival was something that grated on him a bit as well. He was with her for how long and she'd decided to pull this? Without even warning him either, just days of her going missing before she returned at long last with the brat at her side.

It would seem as though having just Shesha at her side was no longer enough when it came to her lashing out at, as well as attempting to annoying, Lord Fiath. She'd decided to up the stakes and do as he did, getting herself a second boy toy to combat the pair of mistresses that the man currently had. Mathematically he supposed that it made sense, she was upping the ante and making sure that what she did was equal to her husband. It made sense and Shesha knew he could continue on as her arm candy into the future, his place secure by the fact that she needed both Shesha and Lorne for her plan to succeed... he knew it, but he didn't like it. He didn't want to share her attention, didn't want to share his place, and didn't want to find himself compared to the bouncy brat. Instead he wanted to be the one to shine, he'd spent many long years doing whatever needed to be done to make sure that he did. What if he were to accompany the to a party only to end up fading into the background? Such a thing couldn't be allowed to happen, he couldn't risk his position in the world or his desire to continue climbing because things made sense from an equal numbers stand point.

Sighing once more he pushed away from the wall that he'd been leaning at, moving away from where the two of them were chatting. He was deep in thought now, considering everything from all angles. It wasn't as though he'd meant to stay with Lady Alhana forever. Sure, she had her uses but at the same time she wasn't as high up in the social food chain that he wanted to be. She could get him nice things, but he'd never be anything more then a lower rung noble woman's boy toy. A comfortable position for some but not nearly what he wanted... which was everything. If he thought that there was a way that he could end up standing at the side of the King of Oba himself then Shesha would claw his way toward that position, willing to do anything that needed to be done.

A thought that had his mind going for a moment to that 'old man' that he'd met at a party some time ago, the one that had been so eager to steal him away for magical reasons. Did he really trust the guy though? Who was to say that Shesha actually had the power that the man had talked about? It could very well have been a come on line, one that was crafted by a liar on par with Shesha's skill who was trying to lure him away from Lady Alhana... not to mention that there was always the fact that he could have already found himself someone else with magical potential to train if he was on the up and up. What was the point in walking away from Lady Alhana only to go to someone else that had a pet or two of his own already? That would be sheer folly on his side.

How about a visit to the man's place? A shared cup of tea and nothing more? At least that way he would be able to stake out the man's place, see if he had a bunch of others at his beck and call, or if he was a better option then where he currently was. The idea of serving a mistress that might end up forgetting all about him because she'd gotten a new puppy wasn't something that sat well with him, especially given that Lord Fiath might take advantage. The man had never really liked him and if Lady Alhana's attention was diverted... well, he hated to consider what might happen. Alright, so tea with the 'old man' it was then he thought to himself as he made his way to his room, wanting to dress his best for the meeting with the guy... just in case he decided that he wanted more then just a cup of tea.

*****

As he ventured toward where he hoped to find the man he found himself wondering idly about the man he was going to meet with. He didn't really know much about the guy, only knew his name because he'd ask someone else who he was during the party in which he'd met the 'old man'. His name was Svetan, an 'old man' that some had referred to him as the 'damn fine mage'... but that sort of thing meant nothing to Shesha presently. Yes, he was a far of power and normally it would be quite attractive... but presently he was debating taking a huge step forward, one that could shake the very foundation of all that he'd done to this point. The idea that he might be leaving Lady Alhana soon for someone else, it was exhilarating and terrifying at the same time. How would things change if he were to take the man's hand he found himself wondering.

He knew that if he were to start to train to use magic that it would be a lot more work then what he normally did. Unlike with Lady Alhana, who only required him to look good, Svetan was going to wand for more. In fact the mage would likely want him to do all manner of training... something that sounded too messy for his liking. At least normally, presently he found himself in a deep debate with himself. Did he want to live comfortably with Lady Alhana while worrying everyday about being replaced or did he wanted to leave her behind so that he could become something more, something magical. It was a thought that made him sigh just a little bit, not sure if he wanted to give himself over to a stranger in hopes of becoming something... magical. Did he want magic? Did he want all the power and responsibility that such a weapon entailed? It was a bit scary really but he could see how it might be useful. He supposed it all depended what he wanted to do from here on out.

It wasn't as though Shesha was someone that wasn't used to doing hard work, it was just that of late there was no need for such things. He looked good and that was what mattered most to the woman that was his patron. She'd wanted someone beautiful on her arm because it was something she could rub in her husband's face. Their games were petty ones, the sort they fought using other people such as Shesha, the new puppy boy, and Lord Fiath's many mistresses that had come and gone since Shesha arrived here. Unlike Lady Alhana who just had Shesha for the longest time and now Lorne, Lord Fiath's women came and went in a steady stream like a flowing river. He didn't have any one person that he'd kept at his side for that long, and he wondered who would be considered the winner? The one that kept one loyal person at their side or perhaps the one who had a steady flow? He supposed he'd have to ask and even he wasn't that brave.

Such thoughts were brushed aside though as he arrived at the residence of Svetan. It had taken a bit of searching, as well as having to ask directions in the end, but he'd found it. A nice enough place, nothing to fancy which was a surprise since it was in a nice enough district. Perhaps Shesha was just used to the flamboyant types who liked to throw money around a show off? Did that mean that in coming here that he would take a hit to his spending money? Yet another thing that he was going to have to consider if he were to pursue the whole magic thing. He had to think hard over each and ever aspect of what he was thinking about doing, he didn't want to risk losing everything just because of petty jealousy over that puppy boy. He had to make sure that this was what he wanted! He had to make sure it was worth the sacrifices. He had to make sure that he wasn't doing it for childish reasons he'd regret later. His mind was whirling with deep thoughts making it so that he didn't even notice that someone had come up beside him until they spoke up.

"Aren't you aware it look pretty bad when you haunt the entrance to someone's home?" A question that dragged Shesha out of his thoughts with a squeak of surprise, a sound that made the 'old man' that Shesha had been looking for laugh.

Shesha turned to the man, hands brushing invisible dust from the nice clothing he was wearing, working on composing himself before he said, "I wasn't haunting anything, I was weighing my options. I'm allowed to do that." Of course to anyone that was watching he would merely look like a fool who was starring at a random house from the walkway. Not the sort of reputation that Shesha wanted to forge for himself.

The man gave a nod, "I would like to think of this as a good sign? That you're coming here to learn magic from me? It's a path that is worth walking, though I wonder if those clothes of yours will hold up." He said, reaching out to catch hold of the edge of Shesha's sleeve, giving it a little tug as though to test the strength of the fabric. Something that caused Shesha to bat his hand away, an annoyed expression showing for a moment before he was able to cover it with another of his smiles.

How grating was it that the man was able to rile him up in such a manner? Doing his best to keep from stomping a food he said, "Possibly, I find things in the household I'm staying in to be changing in a manner I don't care for. Still, the idea of staying with a stranger like you, I haven't really made up my mind. For all I know you could be someone as dangerous as the 'Beast Lord' Parthlio and you're merely better at hiding your desires behind false smiles and talk of magic." The last thing he wanted was to get himself entangled with a person like that. He'd be better off sticking with Lady Alhana whose eye was wandering then a person who was as dangerous as all of that.

Svetan gave a laugh, reaching out to pat Shesha on the head, messing up his currently immaculate hair, knocking the style off kilter before he said, "I can't say that I am into any of the same interests as Lady Alhana or Lord Parthlio, in fact I merely thought you another leech doing your best to climb the social ladder from rumor alone but meeting you my mind was changed. I see that you're a bit more then that and along with the scent of magic that you have about you I must say that I am interested, greatly so. I won't spoil you as much as Lady Alhana but if you're actually willing to put in all the work instead of slacking off or whining I might see about giving you an allowance."

Shesha shifted from foot to foot, giving a humming sound as he tried to fix his hair which was difficult without a mirror. At least the man was honest in his opinions. The idea of him liking the 'scent of magic' that Shesha had seemed a little strange to him but it might just be a mage thing? So long as the man didn't actually come too close or try to sniff at him he supposed he could let it slide. If he tried though Shesha might have to deck him. After a moment he added in as stern a voice as he could, "I am not sharing a room with you, Svetan."

The man starred for a long moment before he started to laugh, hard. Shesha was given a hearty pat on the back, one that almost knocked him over as the man said, "I want you for your magic, not your body, Shesha. So you will be provided a room of your own, I am sure it will be a broom closet compared to the one you have now, but if you work hard maybe you can spruce it up." He said, starting forward, "So, will you be moving in now? Or?"

Grumbling about the pat on the back, certain there was lightly a hand mark there, he said, "Not right this moment. I will have to pack and let Lady Alhana know I'm leaving." It wouldn't be a conversation that he was looking forward to, but it wasn't as though he'd ever stayed with anyone for as long as he'd stayed with her before. Standing still would cause him to get weak after all, not to mention to stagnant when it came to those he was able to meet through his patron. That wasn't something that he'd allow, he wanted, no needed, to meet others so that his web of contacts and 'friends' could continue to grow.

"Come back whenever you're ready, I will see to it that your broom closet is made ready for you." The man said, walking forward, giving a wave over one shoulder before he headed inside. It seemed as though he was making sure to pound it into Shesha's head that he wouldn't be as well off as with Lady Alhana, likely the biggest downside to this whole thing, but once he was a master of magic then surely he could net himself a really powerful patron? There was always a chance that he could become a court mage or something similar? A thought that had him smiling from ear to ear as he headed back to Lady Alhana's place, eager to get his packing underway.

After the Tournament

Shesha's time at the tournament had been nice enough, the best part being that he'd been given some time off where his magical training went. It wasn't so much that he found his training to be a bother as much as he found his teacher to be a pain. He had been able to just do what he wanted, including where he went and who he chose to spend his time with. At the same time his choice of company was proving to be exceedingly dangerous these days, wasn't he? The fact that he was off doing some strange form of training during the tournament was a bit of a pain. Didn't the little fish know that if he got caught that he might drag Shesha down with him? There were many people out there that didn't like Shesha, he was the sort that stepped on many toes if it meant him getting ahead in life. As such if he were to get in over his head with Aqio and his foolish training he was likely to fall further then the little fish was.

Just the thought of that made Shesha tighten his hand on his magical staff to the point that his knuckles went white. He just had to be more careful he thought to himself, though he hoped that didn't mean that he would have to leave the little fish by the wayside. Sure, he might be a bother and a liability right now but when he was actually to the point where he was considered a real assassin then he would be far more useful to Shesha. At the same time one had to wonder about that... how often did one just go around announcing to just anyone that they were going to become an assassin? What if it was all just a ruse and he was just a mooch seeking someone to take care of them without really doing anything more then trying to be a pickpocket? Just the thought of that made him twitch a little bit, wanting to believe that Aqio was what he said when it came to at least his future choice of career. If it turned out to be false he suppose that he could always just set his backside on fire and go home.

Giving a little huffing sound he muttered, "Such a pain." He wanted to believe that Aqio was what he said he was but then the danger because allowing a person like that too close. Shesha wasn't so stupid that he would become close with anyone, not when they were likely to turn on him if it meant that they would benefit... but still. That Aqio might end up as an assassin made him extra dangerous. What if he allowed him too close and that allowed Aqio to kill him more easily? He didn't doubt that there would be those that wanted to take a contract out on him and if they knew Aqio was close to him he would be the perfect one to hire. It was a thought that sent a shiver through Shesha, a reminder that he couldn't be so trusting of the little fish. He had to keep an eye on him, take note of his training and skill, and make sure to be aware of where he was at all times. There was always that chance after all that Aqio would pull a knife and come after him. One couldn't trust just anyone in this world and one definitely couldn't take an assassin at their word.

Glancing around his room, one that was much smaller then normal, he thought on how he should really get back to work. He couldn't allow his magical powers to get rusty, not when there was a chance his little assassin friend was going to turn on him and try to kill him in the future. He would need his own powers to be just as powerful if not more so then the power that Aqio had so that he would be able to defend himself.

Glancing over at the imp that was sitting on his dresser, playing with the various piece of jewelry that sat there, he said, "I am going to step outside and work on a bit of magical practice, Amanita. Are you going to stay inside or are you going to come with me?" He wondered for a moment if the imp would be a useful extra set of eyes. He could teach the creature to help him to keep an eye out for danger just in case. One never knew what was going to happen in the future and having a helper watching his back would be rather nice. Holding a hand out to the imp he allowed the creature to decide where he wanted to go. It took but a moment for little critter to hop onto his hand, making its way up to his shoulder.

"Alright, good choice. It's going to be up to you to help keep an eye out from your position, Amanita." Shesha told the little creature before he left the room with the imp, heading out of his room and across the small house toward the front door. He'd practice his magic out in the yard. He had to figure out this magic stuff sooner then later, to make sure that he knew each spell inside and out, and was able to summon them at will. Presently some spells were easier then others to summon up but he was far from being a master. That would take... well, a lot of time and practice. The huge downside being that he would have to sacrifice his mingling with the upper crust to get better with magic... but if he got better with magic then he could mingle with them capture the attention of more patrons.

Once he became powerful all of this awful, sweaty practice was sure to be worth it he thought to himself, brushing back a lock of his bright red hair as he stepped outside into the sun. He gave a grumbling sound as he looked up at the bright blue sky. It was so hot... but he couldn't very well turn back now without looking like a weakling. No, practicing in the heat would just make him stronger he thought to himself as he moved into the yard and started to summon for the first spell in his arsenal. He would become a powerful magic user and not even the sun itself was going to stop him!

Late Night Training Session

Shesha had the best idea in the history of ideas! Alright, it wasn't as fantastic as that but it was still something that he felt was going to be the best idea when it came to helping him as far as his training went, he was going to train now, in the late night when it was feeling almost cold outside. It was the best time to go about it since the sun wasn't baking him from the outside in as though he were an attractive loaf of bread. Stepping outside, staff in hand, Shesha looked from side to side, then gave a humming sound, "The yard looks a bit more spooky at night, doesn't it, Amanita?" It was so dark at the moment and it made him give a slight shiver before he started forward, setting up the handful of torches that he'd carried out in a big circle that he would be able to stand within.

"Alright, my first test will be lighting these up so that the yard has enough light in it that it will keep the critters away while I train." He sad to the imp that was riding on his shoulder, before he set about gathering magical power into his staff, then through it he small lick of flame toward the torches, lighting them up one by one. Giving a toothy grin he said, "That wasn't so bad!" In fact he was pretty impressed with himself in this moment when it came to dealing with the torches. Sure, it wasn't as impressive as his as he knew he could be but he was doing well for a notice caster. At least that was what he thought.

Once everything was lit up he moved to stand in the middle of the circle, looking around for a moment, then gave a humming sound, "What spell should I work on next?" There were just so many of them that he felt a touch overwhelmed at times... not that he would admit to such a thing. He didn't want anyone to know that he found something to be difficult, instead wanting everything that he did to seem effortless to those around him. If he always appeared as though he could do anything and everything without even trying then he would have that many more fans. Of course at the same time he would have that many more people that were envious and hated him but it would be fine by him. It came with the territory to have those who didn't want him around. Yet another reason to work on his skills.

"Hmmm, how about a nice wind spell?" He said to Amanita, lifting up his staff and set to gathering power so that he could cast the wind spell that he was thinking about doing... when a rather powerful wind went blowing passed that nearly knocked him over. Shesha flailed a bit before he pushed himself upright, looking around at the torches that had been put out by the wind. He starred for a moment then gave a grumbling sound, "Damn wind... alright, back to fire it would seem." He said, changing up the spell that he was casting so that he could once more light each of the torches one by one... though he realized by the time he got back to the first one he'd lit that it had gone out... then the rest slowly went out as well.

Blinking a couple times he looked around at the torches then gave a grumbling sound, "Stupid things... why are they going out?" He started the circle around the yard again, but once more the torches were already out by the time that he got back to the first one. It seemed that they were refusing to stay lit for some exceedingly frustrating reason. This made no sense! Why were they suddenly acting up? Was his magic no strong enough to truly light a torch? Had that wind done something weird to them? Were they somehow broken? Or... wait... blinking his pink eyes a couple times he felt a prickle of anger go up his spine as he started to look around.

"Svetan... you stupid old man! Where are you? I know you're out there messing with me!" He declared, looking from side to side, seeking out his teacher, then gave a hissing sound as he heard the man laughing from the darkness. Damn it, he'd known that it was the old man that was messing with him! Here he was doing his best to practice and the old b*****d was making a game out of it?! That was it, the moment that he came out of the darkness he was going to bludgeon him with his staff until he beg for mercy! Mercy that Shesha wouldn't give to him because he was an obnoxious old man!

Laughing at his student's anger that much more the man emerged from the darkness, making a motion with his hand which caused the runes that floated around him to light up. Once they were glowing brightly the torches all burst back to life, lighting up the yard, "You're not doing too bad at your casting, Shesha, but you need to push yourself. Just lighting them one by one isn't a real test of the power that I know you have within you. If you really focused and applied yourself I'm more then certain that you could light them all at... OOF! Ow... you're such an abusive student..." The man muttered, rubbing a hand against his midsection where Shesha had jabbed him with the butt of his magical staff.

"That isn't how you're supposed to go about getting back at me either... you could have at least... done it magically." He complained as he tried to catch his breath once more after the surprise attack that really shouldn't have been much of a surprise given that he had been baiting the young mage.

Shesha rested his staff against the ground, eyes narrowing, before he said, "I am working up to that! You messing with me before I can even begin to practice isn't helping, old man." He said, teeth gritted. Damn it, with anything else he was always able to keep his cool but somehow this man was so good at getting a rise out of him. It was as though he was doing it on purpose sometimes. It was something that made him want nothing more then to take another swing at him... but he didn't bother. The man was on guard now so he wasn't about to get hit again so easily. He had to time things just right if he wanted to retaliate against the old man after all.

"So do you mean to continue to poke at me all night or can I get back to my training?" Shesha asked, giving his teacher a very serious look, something that had Svetan chuckling a bit.

With a smile on his lips he set his runes whirling around his hand before he said, "How about we practice together, Shesha? Unless you are afraid of looking bad in front of an 'old man'?" A challenge that drew another hiss from Shesha which in turn had Svetan laughing again. It would appear as though getting a rise out of the younger man was something that amused him to no end, which only made it more likely to happen.

"Fine. You're my teacher anyway and it is your job to train me. So get to it." With that Shesha seemed to accept his teacher's offer of training and a good portion of the night was spent training... something that left Shesha exhausted, causing him to sleep in late the next morning. It was tiring working with Svetan but certainly worth it, not that Shesha would ever admit that.
