Hidden Treasure

After a trip to the ocean, a trip he used to take with his parents, Aiolos discovers a beach side cave. Unable to sate his curiosity he heads inside, finding a treasure more then worth the risk the dangers of the cave.

Interrupted Sleep

Aiolos's eyes had closed a while ago, the young Orderite having slipped into a deep sleep after the adventure that he'd had in the cave. It was a nice enough afternoon, not as cold as it had been, the weather finally starting to slowly warm up. The scents and sounds of the ocean were nice and even asleep it helped to keep him calm enough. This was a familiar place, he'd come here before with his parents many times, and because of that he actually felt comfortable enough to rest easily here. Was it really so safe though? Were there not dangers still lurking around the area? What if the Mara came back? What if they came for him? Thoughts that filtered into his dreams, twisting them a bit, causing him to twitch a little in his sleep.

He was too vulnerable, they could be all around them, their glowing, merciless eyes turned upon him. He twitched again as he heard one of them, a rock type Mara, as it made its way slowly toward him. His heart started to race as it did, his body tensing up, pushing against the tree that was behind him. It was getting too close, he had to do something he thought to himself, he had to get something to defend himself! Something, anything, even a stick was better then nothing. He had to arm himself quickly, had to be ready for when it got within striking distance! He wouldn't hesitate this time, he wouldn't just stare at them in fear from afar like a child, he'd do something! He'd fight! At least that was what he really wanted to believe but as the creature came closer to him, its eyes blazing, weapon in hand, he could feel his heart starting to pound painfully in his chest, feel how hard it was to breath.

"No... no..." He murmured, pushing back harder against the tree that he was leaned against, unable to escape through it, he wasn't that powerful after all. He shook his head as he watched the Rock Mara before him as it lifted its weapon, taking aim before thrusting it forward into his chest...

Aiolos woke up screaming, lunging to his feet, hands clutching at his chest where he was expecting to find a massive wound. Instead it started to slowly filter into his mind that he wasn't wounded, nor was he being assaulted by a Mara, he was still under the tree near the ocean, still alone, being plagued by yet more nightmares. Why did they always have to star the Mara? Why couldn't he have a bad dream about Oblivionites or dragons? Heck, why couldn't he have a good dream in which Seren blessed him with a boat load of money so that he could find a nice place to live? Better yet a nice dream about his parents? No... he would prefer the Mara, it seemed that the times he dreamed about his parents always ended with him in tears when he realized it was just a dream and that they were still gone.

Grumbling to himself about he moved to gather up the two dragon orbs that he'd dropped when lunging to his feet, dusting them off, "Can't let you two get away." He murmured, knowing full well how important they were. Time to get moving he supposed, he was going to the city, right? He really should check into how much a weapon was going to cost him, see if it was something he might be able to afford sometime soon. There was no telling when he actually would run into a Mara or a dragon or something else dangerous, he needed to arm himself. He knew full well that he was on his own, that he needed to be prepared for whatever the world threw at him because of that. First and foremost that meant getting a weapon, meaning he'd probably have to find work. Sighing to himself he gave the ocean a last glance before turning on his heel, heading for the city.

Best that he got there while it was still light out or else he'd be wandering the streets at night, not something that he wanted to do if he could avoid it. If he got there with enough time, and Seren showed him kindness, he'd be able to find himself as safe a place as possible to rest his head for the night.

Aiding a Smith

Aiolos finds himself working for a blacksmith by chance, something that turns out to be rewarding to him in various was. Not only did he get to help, as well as get a reward, but he was given a free meal to boot! A good night for sure.

A Chat with the Blacksmith

As agreed upon Aiolos arrived later that day, after finding a nice place to sleep in that was safe enough that he hadn't been at risk of losing the stuff he'd gotten his hands on while working earlier. The blacksmith still wasn't awake when he arrived, which had Aiolos pacing back and forth in front of the shop, wondering if maybe he'd gotten there too earlier? Perhaps the man was still tired from all of his work and was still sleeping it off? Shouldn't he still be here though since they'd made this appointment? His mind set to racing though he really said nothing at all, just continued to pace. That was until he heard approaching footsteps, those of the tall, broad shouldered blacksmith who gave him a glance before saying, "Eesh, someone's punctual." He got out his keys, opening the door to the shop, and allowed the green haired boy inside, "So you had questions for me?" He'd been far too exhausted for them last night but at least he was feeling more up to dealing with the kid today.

Aiolos looked around the shop that was filled with all manner a weapons, eyes filled with awe, before turning back to the man and said, "Yeah, I do. I am needing an idea about how much these weapons you sell cost. I know it's going to take me some time to save up for them, especially since I don't have a job or anything, but it's still good to at least have an idea." He set to exploring a little, taking in all of the various weapons, wondering if he should take on something big and heavy like what his mother had once wielded or if he should see about getting a magical staff like his father.

Magic seemed so much more complicated and as though it were something that required that he get a teacher, which would just cost more he'd assume. He figured that it would be best that he got a weapon instead, right? Something that he'd be able to use against anything from beasts, to dragons, to even Mara were he to run across one. Maybe something big and heavy, a hammer, perhaps? Or a mace? How fun would it be to use a big mace on a Mara, to slam the weapon into one of those heartless creatures and watch it shatter? He found himself starring intently upon a rather nice mace, one he knew he'd never be able to afford, before turning to look at the blacksmith.

The man starred at him for a moment before walking over to where Aiolos was standing, looking over the various weapons, before he started to quote prices, "Those on the stand here are the cheapest, not saying cheap as in they are well made but they are simple weapons without anything special about them. Those on the stand here are in the middle, then those on the wall have all the features, the frills, and tend to be bought up by noble born brats that thing a weapon should be as pretty as it is effective." The man explained, then looked down at Aiolos for a long moment, "You don't strike me as one of those though, you actually got your hands and the rest of you dirty. As such I would recommend either those on the table or the stand."

The man could tell that the kid was calculating in his head about the prices, likely how long it was going to take him to get enough money together. Giving a sigh he motioned to him, "Come here, I have an idea." He said, walking to the counter, stepping behind it, then pointed in front of it, "Stay there." He ordered the boy before he headed out of the room to the back, leaving Aiolos standing where he'd been commanded to stand.

The green haired boy lifted a hand, scratching it against his cheek, before looking around again. After a time he turned around, still standing where he was supposed to stand, but in a manner that allowed him to see the whole of the shop again. It was a really nice shop, well organized, well stocked, with so many weapons that he'd love to get his hands on. A shame that he didn't think he'd be able to get any of them any time soon. It meant that much longer of him waiting to fight with... well, whatever he got up the nerve to fight with. It was a while later before the man finally returned carrying a paper in one hand and a rather interesting looking weapon in the other. A rather interesting mace, maybe because those had been the weapons that he was eying on the shelves?

The man set the weapon on the counter between them for Aiolos to see before he held the list out to him, "This is a list of task that need to be done, various people that need some help. You go out, find them, help them all, and I will give you this weapon. It's called an Imprinted Weapon, it's a special piece that are given to Orderites when there families feel the time is right." Stepping around the counter he gave the list to Aiolos before walking over to the table, picking up the most basic of maces, "This one will be on lone, just in case you run across anything dangerous while you're doing your chores. If you don't return you don't get the imprinted weapon and I tell the guards you're a little thief and they arrest you. Deal?"

Aiolos nodded his head rapidly, stepping forward as he read over the list, taking note of all of the different chores that he would have to get done, "I will do my best to get these done." He said, looking at the mace that he was being offered. No where near as cool looking at the other one but still, a weapon was a weapon, it would still serve him and protect him. He reached out, taking the offered weapon, "I won't just disappear, I'm not like that! I'm going to become someone great like my parents were one day!" He said, tucking the note into his pack.

The blacksmith crossed his arms over his chest, starring him down, then gave a half shrug, "Eh, we'll see. I will require you get a signature from those you do the chores for once you're done to prove you actually did them. Now, be on your way, you're wasting daylight." The man said, waving Aiolos off so that he could get to work on the list of tasks given to him.

Spring Cleaning

Aiolos was given a list of chores to do in exchange for a weapon that he really wants but can't afford through conventional means. The first chore is cleaning up an overgrown garden for a pretty lady that didn't want to get her dress dirty. He got himself some herbs to sell as well as some notes on various local herbs, stuff he will keep an eye out for so that he can gather and sell them.

Aiding an Enchanter

Aiolos's next chore leads him to a rather beautiful enchanter who seems to be having a problem with a broken shelf. Too busy with her own work to fix it herself Aiolos is brought in to help. He's never built anything before but he's more then willing to do so for such a beautiful woman.

Waking Up

An amount of time unknown to Aiolos later he jerked upright in the bed he was laying in, looking around in a shocked manner, not certain exactly what was going on or where he was. He gave a full body shiver before he looked around for something familiar, only to find himself looking at a familiar enough face. It wasn't the face of the man who had saved him, but instead it was the face of the man's brother, which had him giving pause. Wait, so he was back in the city then? Back with the blacksmith and his brother? He lifted his hands, patting himself down as though to check for any wounds but he realized that the dragon hadn't gotten him. Unlike in the nightmares his sleep had been plagued with neither dragon nor Mara had gotten their dirty mitts on him. A relief to be sure.

The big, scarred up man turned in his direction, giving him a once over, before he said in a gruff tone of voice, "About time you woke, we were thinking you might sleep forever." He said, pushing to his feet so that he could walk over to where the green haired boy was sitting, reaching out catch hold of his chin. Aiolos was made to turn his head from one side to the other as the man inspected him closely, then finally nodded, "You look fine, seems all you needed was some rest."

The man released him then, "Come on then, on your feet. I am sure that a warm meal would do well in speeding you on the way to your recover. Besides, my brother is wanting to talk to you about the deal the two of you had and the weapon that you were wanting." He said, heading out of the room, leaving Aiolos to scramble to followed.

The boy was nearly stumbling over his own feet as he abandoned the bed, something he really felt he should have made, and hastily followed. What did the blacksmith want to talk to him about? Was their deal going to be null and void because he hadn't gotten the last task finished? Did that mean he wouldn't have his chance at the weapon he'd been offered in exchange? Even the mere thought of such a thing happening wasn't a good thought, it was one that made his chest just ache as he considered it. All that hard work and he wouldn't even get his mace? Did that meant he'd need to go back out and continue gathering herbs in an attempt to save up? His mind was racing in circles as he considered what he might be told when he reached the blacksmith.

As he finally caught up he found himself starring up at the blacksmith and his brother, one of them motioning for him to sit down while the other was dishing up some sort of stew for him. Aiolos settled down in the chair indicated to him, hands clasped in his lap, and he remained silent for a time before blurting out, "I'm sorry I couldn't get the last task done! Please, let me try again! I really need that weapon and I won't be able to get it any other way, not easily at least..." He sort of muttered the last part, hating that he had to admit to such a thing. He didn't want them to pity him, to think that he was less then a man because he wasn't someone of means.

The blacksmith set the bowl and a spoon down in front of him, patting him on the head with one work roughened hand, before he settled down in the seat next to him, "The third chore has already been taken care of, it was an easy enough one to deal with, so you needn't worry about that. As for the weapon I figure since you did so well aiding the Enchanter and the Lady Maree, that it will be fine to give it to you."

Aiolos couldn't help but to stare up at him, looking as though he wasn't quite sure what to make of being allowed off the hook so easily, especially when he hadn't finished up the whole list. Was the man being easy on him because he was a kid? Was it the fact that the dragon had hassled him? He wasn't sure but after a moment he gave a slow nod, "If you're sure..."

"I am, and because I am such a good man," A compliment that got a snort from the man's brother, "I will also offer you up a suggestion. If you can manage it you should see about getting a couple dragon orbs and once you do bring them to the Lady Aevah Avi, as a show of good faith. It tends to help to open doors for people and you seem like the sort who could use a hand, though not a hand out, you don't seem the sort to take that."

"I... actually have a couple, I hid them, but I could probably fetch them and bring them to her." He said after a moment of deep thought. He wasn't one for taking hand outs but it wouldn't be that, as the blacksmith said it was just a hand, one he'd be doing something in exchange for. When he'd first found the dragon orbs he knew that they would be useful, but he didn't know how useful until this moment. Giving a smile he said, "Alright, I will eat first, then go and fetch the orbs to bring to Lady Aevah Avi." He seemed to be saying the plan mostly to himself before digging into his meal.

A few bites in he gave pause, looking between the brothers, and said, "I... thank you by the way, for everything... I mean you didn't have to come to save me like that and yet you did. Then to look after me, to feed me, and give me the weapon and advice. It's more then I could ever thank you for."

The men exchanged glances, the brother giving a shrug before he said, "It's quite alright, now, eat your meal. You still have a lot of work ahead of you if you're going to get to where Lady Aevah Avi resides." He told Aiolos, pointing at the bowl before the boy, motioning to him to eat.

Aiolos gave a nod before he continued to eat, finishing off the bowl of stew, along with another one and some bread, before he was ready to gather his things for the next task before him. He felt recharged after the sleep and meal, and felt as though he could take on the world. He just hoped he didn't have to take on too many more dragons between here and where he'd find Lady Aevah Avi. The last one had been exhausting enough and he didn't want to risk losing his new weapon or the dragon orbs that he'd be fetching from their hiding place.

Meeting a Merchant

Once he'd made it to his stash, trading some things around, putting the Ysali orbs into his stash and taking the other two of them out. The pair meant for Lady Aevah Avi were given a once over, were cleaned up, and tucked into his pack. By the time they got to her they were going to smell like the sweet herbs that he was carrying around with him. One the way the way back he found himself running into the last thing that he'd thought that he might this far out, not a dragon, not an enemy at all, instead it was a... Dovaa? He'd never really seen one of them close up before, never talked to them, but he had to admit he was curious since the man appeared to be a merchant with wares that he was selling.

He found himself soon drifting closer to the man and the things he was selling, a curious look on his face. He was curious about what he was looking at, what it was that the various bottles were used for. Drinks, maybe? Medicine? Something else? He couldn't quite tell at first glance and given that his curiosity and confusion were likely clear on his face given that the man was quick to explain what it was that he was looking at, that being various potions that would 'help him to become stronger' something that had Aiolos's eyes going wide.

"Potions that will make me stronger?" He breathed, looking them over before he picked up one of the potions and asked, "How much for one of these?" The price was quoted to him, and after some negotiations, as well as some trading on his part of some of the herbs he'd been gathering, he was able to purchase the potion and call it his own. He gave a happy grin, thanking the merchant for the potion, before he was on his way once more. He still had to get to the citadel, but this potions was like icing on the cake when it came to Aiolos's day being a good one.

Dropping of the Orbs

After all the dragons battles and the long journey to his secret stash and then to the Citdael of Order Aiolos was feeling a bit on the exhausted side. Exhausted, but excited, the fact that he had made it here, with the pair of dragon orbs, that were meant for the Lady Aevah Avi. He hope that the blacksmith was right about all of this, right about bringing orbs here as tribute for the Lady and for Seren, he hoped that the two orbs that he'd gotten would be enough for them. After the adventure he'd been on to find them he was certain that it was Seren that led him to the orbs and there fore they were orbs that should be handed to the leader of Seren's people. That was what he felt at least. If this gave him a little boost as far as get stronger, as well as reaching his many goals went then he'd be one happy young man.

Drawing in a deep breath he held it, his eyes closing for a moment, before he let the breath out slowly, "Alright Mother, Father, here I go." He had to be brave and he had to just push himself forward, he could do this, he could in fact meet with Lady Aevah Avi despite the fact that he didn't quite feel worthy to do so. She was the leader of their people and he was... well, himself. He was fighting to get stronger, sure, but he was also still a homeless orphan. If she didn't mind that then he would serve her with all his heart and soul he thought to himself as he started into the citadel.

As he headed inside his head turned from side to side, his eyes trying to take in every last detail as though he could do so while walking. What it really seemed to result in was him nearly bumping into several Orderites of varying genders, ages, and statuses. He was quick to apologize though a couple of them he couldn't help but to gaze at in awe, finding that the people in the citadel were quite lovely. The various ladies and gentleman that he ran across, as well as the soldiers and guards, were nothing in comparison to the one he was going to visit he realized straight away as he came to stand in the woman's presence. The silvery starlight hair, the blue and pink tinted wings, of which she had three sets, it was quite amazing. The power and age of an Orderite tended to show in the number of wings that they had, three sets being the most they had, same number she had.

Shaking his head, forcing himself to stop starring, he started forward toward where the beautiful woman was standing, digging into his pack so that he could hold out the two orbs to the woman, "I was told that I should bring these to you." He said, holding the orbs out until the woman took them from him, "I hope these ones will suffice?"

He took a couple steps back, bowing to her after she told him that the orbs were good ones, something that set his heart to thudding in his chest. He gave a shy smile, pushing his green hair back from his eyes, before he said, "I'm glad that you like them. I should get going though, I don't want to take up anymore of your time then I already have, I am sure you're busy." She was their leader after all and he didn't want to take up any more of her time then he already had though he felt blessed by what time he'd spent with the leader of the Orderites. He gave a bow before he went to leave, his heart thudding all the time.

In and out quickly, dropped the orbs off with Aevah Avi, and now he was just... well, excited. He had actually seen the leader of their people, something that excited him greatly. It made him wish all that much more that he could have come here with his parents. They must have come here in the past, meaning that they had done something similar to what he'd done, bringing in dragon orbs to this place. How he wished they were with when he dropped off the orbs, so that he could see him, be proud of him. He'd just have to pray to Seren that they knew or that they had were watching over him at the moment. As he reached the door to the room he gave pause, looking over his shoulder at the lady who had returned to her work, before he headed out.

He wasn't sure what he was doing next, it was something he'd have to think about. Maybe he'd try to find that crazy red head again or that Khehora pup, they were interesting enough. More dragon hunting, possibly, a lot more training, and then in the future... the Mara. That thought caused a shiver to go through him, as so he shoved it aside, not wanting to focus too hard on it.

Adept Stuff Starts Here!

Home Sweet Home!

Aiolos stood before a house that was a little on the rough side, windows broken, doors missing, the roof in need of repairs, but instead of any sort of disappointment the look on his face was one of pure bliss. It might seem odd to anyone else in the world but the house before him, one that wasn't exactly ideal to most, was actually the most beautiful thing he'd ever seen. Due to various things going on of late in this area, the biggest thing being a trouble pack of Ysali dragons, the owner wanted to move. The place had been first abandoned by the man, raided by the dragons, and left to just sit in the elements for some time. Due to this the price was cheap enough that Aiolos, with his very limited funds, was able to afford it.

The owner just wanted to pawn the property off on someone and move on, of that Aiolos was almost certain. Lucky for him he'd spent the last few years working his backside off to make ends meet, keep himself fed, and had a bit of money collected on the side. He was more then happy to use his savings for this place, as beat up as it was, because he knew that he could fix it. On top of that just having a place of his own, a place he could call home, meant a lot to him. It had been far to long since he'd had the security of having a home of his own. This was a big step in the right direction for him and he meant to make the most of it. Walking forward toward the building, up the crooked steps, and onto the small porch, he gave everything a once over before murmuring thoughtfully to himself, "It will take a bit of work but it will be worth it."

Not just the house itself but the land, which was overgrown in plants, the encroaching forest, and the dragons that were trying to knock the place over. Of all of the things that needed taken care of he knew that the most important of all of those things, as well as the most difficult, would be the dragons. Dragons were a bothersome lot but nothing that he couldn't take care of. Once the pack of them that seemed to want to take this area of as their territory were dealt with then the repairs to the house could be taken care of. One step at a time and soon he'd end up with a comfortable home of his own, one where he could rest easily, enjoy the view, and feel safe. It was something that some people took for granted, having a place to return to, but for Aiolos it was something that he'd had stolen from him as a child. He wouldn't let some mere dragons take the chance from home to start anew.

Walking through the doorway, the door laying inside, having been knocked over by someone or something, he took note of everything inside. The place was decent sized, one big room, filled with furniture that would need to either be replaced or rebuilt. He'd need to look it all over and figure out which he would prefer to do. After a long moment of just starring, drinking in everything around him, and he gave a sigh of happiness. The place was a wreck but already he loved it because the house was his.

He couldn't just stand around though, couldn't just stare at the place, he had to get to work. He'd start with dragging out all the furniture pieces, figure out what could be salvaged, and if he was lucky all the work that he was doing would draw the attention of the Ysali dragons in the area. It would give him a chase to clear them out, thus making the area safer, before he returned to the long list of physical labor that now lay before him. In the end though he was more then certain that it was all going to be worth it if only because he would have a beautiful home all his own! No more sleeping in alleyways, cheap hotel rooms meant for things other then sleep, or in the back room at the blacksmith's shop. Nope, he'd have a soft, comfortable bed of his own! Probably the thing that Aiolos was looking forward to the most in fact.
