One last chore on his list, one that would bring him back to town, and Aiolos was going to be able to get his hands on his weapon at long last. He liked the temporary weapon well enough, it had served him well enough, but now that he was getting closer to the end of his chores list he was thinking ahead. Once he had his weapon... well, he wasn't exactly sure what it would be that he did next, he wanted to get stronger after all, meaning he should probably practice with the weapon, right? Maybe go out into the wilds and look for something that he could get in a fight with, maybe a dragon? The idea was one that sent a shiver through him from head to toe, "Well... maybe not, that seems like it might be a bad idea." He murmured to himself, not certain if he was really ready to stand up against a dragon. No, maybe something else, something smaller.
As he decided upon that he heard a rumbling sound off to one side, a sound that caused him to go completely stock still before he turned his head slowly to one side. As he spotted what was there his eyes went rather wide, "Ahhh... crud." He muttered to himself, his wings snapping open, flapped, then stretched out as though Aiolos was trying to make himself appear bigger as he spotted the Ysali dragon that was standing there. The only up side was the fact that the creature wasn't looking his way, instead its attention seemed to be elsewhere.
Turning slowly on his heel he started to walk in the exact opposite direction from the Ysali, hoping that it wouldn't notice that his presence. Just as he was reaching what he hoped would be some cover, that being some trees, he stepped on a stick. The snapping sound seemed to be louder then he would have expected, drawing the attention of the dragon, and instantly Aiolos was running.

Aiolos's retreat away from the dragon had him racing through the trees, with him searching for a place that he would be able to hide and avoid the creature that was following along after him. He glanced back from time to time, seeing it following along after him, stalking, teeth barred, snarling. It wasn't pushing itself, wasn't running full out, but instead talking him in a very predatory manner that had him shivering a bit. The fact that the creature didn't seem to be in a huge hurry to get its claws on him, instead probably hoping he would exhaust himself so that it wouldn't have to do as much in the way of battling at end. A scary feeling, but at the same time he felt as though he'd have a chance, he just had to get back to the city, then the guards could take care of the dragon.
The problem being that he knew he wasn't going to be able to run as fast as a dragon could walk, he couldn't fly either. He couldn't out run a dragon but he was still going to at least try to do so else he would end up in the dragon's belly. Catching hold of a thin tree he swung himself around it at a ninety degree angle, and continued to run onward, hoping that he maybe the sharp turn would throw the dragon off a bit. He looked over his shoulder, a hopeful look on his face, as he watched the dragon forcing its way through the trees so that it could get at him. The turn didn't so much throw it off but it was able to at least tangle the thing up, giving him a chance to keep running toward his goal.
"Seren, bless me, help me to get away from the creature that is stalking me." He said in a shaky tone as he hurried along, heading in the direction he knew the city to be in. He just had to keep going and maybe, just maybe, he'd make it.

The woods were starting to thin out, weren't they? Not a good sign, it meant that the dragon was going to be able to catch up with him. He didn't much care for this whole running away thing, he felt as though maybe he should be at least trying to fight... but at the same time he was scared, really scared. He'd never fought anything before, especially not something so big. Maybe if his parents were around he'd feel a little more confident before he would be able to rely on them for back up but they weren't here, he was alone... and it that only made his fear of the dragon that much worse.
Aiolos lifted one hand to scrub it against his cheeks, doing his best not to tear up. His eyes had that itch to them that seemed to come along before tears did, not something he could allow. If he cried he'd look weak, if he looked weak then he would feel even weaker then he already did. Instead he had to try to focus, to breath, to fight off the tears. The last thing he needed was to have his eyes sight made blurry or his breathing anymore ragged then it already was. No, he had to keep going, he had to live! With that thought in mind he pushed himself to run a little faster, a shiver going through him when he saw the dragon starting to speed up... only to take to the air. It was circling now, something that gave it yet another advantage.
"I can do this, just gotta keep going." He said, his eyes dropping for a moment to look at the blue feather that was in his hair, then forward again. He still had the blue feather, his good luck charm, which meant that he could keep going! Turning gaze forward once more he concentrated on continuing onward toward his goal of safety that the city represented in his mind.

The way that the dragon's shadow continuously moved back and forth over him caused Aiolos's heart to thud that much more painfully in his chest. He wasn't feeling good, was starting to slow down, his breathing getting harder, making him a bit on the dizzy. He looked up at the dragon, a mistake, as he found himself tripping over his own feel, going down hard, and then rolled a couple of times. He laid there a moment, his green eyes wide with surprise, before he struggled to his feet once more, "Ow." He muttered to himself, looking around, and then up again... and saw the dragon that was starting to dive down toward him.
A cry of surprise escaped from Aiolos and he scrambled to his feet, rushing to one side, able to avoid the attack though only just barely. The dragon landed, making the ground shake in a manner that threw the Orderite boy to the ground once more. He gave an 'omph' sound when he landed, his breath knocked from his lungs. He laid there a moment, gulping for a breath, before he struggled to his feet to get the mace off of his belt, pointing it at the dragon, "I... d-don't make me... I will fight you!" He said, trying his best to try to sound tough even though he was feeling far from it. No, he didn't want to fight, he just wanted to get back to the city, wanted to be safe, didn't want to get attacked by some dragon! He had thought about it, sure, the idea of fighting a dragon, but it wasn't something that he wanted to do for real!
A shiver went through him as the dragon turned toward him and gave a great roar, one that actually sure the little Orderite to his core. He gave an all over shiver then prepared himself as the dragon came charging his way.

Aiolos knew that he wasn't exactly ready for what it was that he found himself standing against, that being a rather displeased Ysali dragon that saw him as nothing more then something that was meant for eating. The creature was hungry, at least that was what he'd put his money one, when he saw the look on the creature's face. It opened it's mouth, giving another earth shaking roar before it lunged for Aiolos, it's jaws snapping at him, and just barely missing the green haired boy. Aiolos threw himself forward, rolling under the dragon's form, taking a couple swings at its legs before moving toward it's midsection, doing his best to dance around in a way that allowed him to stay under it where it wouldn't be able to bite and claw at him. It wasn't a place he wanted to be but at least he was doing all he could to keep from being eaten.
It was one of those plans that, while it worked, it only worked for so long before the dragon was pushing off the ground and back into the air leaving Aiolos once more exposed to its wrath. The only upside was that it seemed to be, for the moment at least, debating on landing again since he'd at least hit its legs a couple times, leaving it a little bit more leery. That didn't mean that Aiolos was in the clear, it just meant that the dragon was going to be a lot more careful when it came to trying to eat him. He'd have to take what he could get though as he turned, hurrying along once more toward the city, hoping to at least cover a bit more ground before the dragon landed again or made another attack against him.
"Keep going, Aiolos, just a little further, almost there." He murmured to himself, finding that it was getting harder and harder to breath, all the exertion caused by all of the running around really starting to get to him.

The dragon was circling, its shadow passing back and forth over him, and it was something that was starting to really get to Aiolos. He knew that the fear of when the dragon would strike next was going to be what did him in, that or just the exhaustion he felt when it came to all of the running that he'd been doing up to this point. His muscles were starting to hurt, his lungs were burning, and sweat was pouring down his body meaning that at any moment his body might just give out. He couldn't let that happen though, not now, not when he could see the city now. It was still distant, but it was there, and that meant that he just had to keep pushing himself forward. The sooner he got back to the city the sooner he'd be safe and the sooner he was safe the sooner he would finally be able to stop running.
"Seren give me strength, mother and father watch over me. I'm... I'm almost there, give me the strength to actually make it..." He said, his words coming out between gasps. Almost there, almost there, just keep going, words said in his head like a mantra to keep him strong and keep him going. All he had to do was keep running! It was something that was sure to be difficult, especially with the way that his leg muscles were burning with pain now, but given that he was covering the ground between himself and the city that he was struggling to get to.
Overhead the dragon gave a roar, the circles it was flying in getting tighter and it's shadow getting bigger... meaning that it was spiraling down toward him. It was a thought that caused him to panic, pushing himself to try to move faster... which only caused him to stumble again. He hit the ground, hard, and was forced to lay there a moment, gasping for a breath, "Gotta... get back up... move Aiolos!" He told himself, struggling to do just that.

Aiolos was panting hard as he lay on the ground, shifting himself, trying to push with his arms to get up... but his arms gave out, causing him to hit the ground again. He was out of energy, wasn't he? He'd messed up in allowing himself to fall that final time, this was it, he was going to be killed and there was nothing that he could do about it. His eyes went to the weapon at his side, his hand even trying to move there, but for the life of him he couldn't seem to lift the mace. Had it always felt this heavy? Surely not or he wouldn't have carried it all over the place, right? No, this was weakness settling into his body, one caused by him running full bore for so long. He was too tired, he couldn't get up, and it was something that scared him like nothing else save for the Mara. He was just too little to be doing everything on his own, yet he was forced to do so.
Struggling a moment he rolled onto his back, starring up at the dragon that was moving in slow, downward spirals. It would seem that now that Aiolos had burnt himself out that the dragon didn't have to hurry. He would be eaten at the creature's leisure, something that was proven when it started to glow, casting some sort of spell. It took him only a split to realize exactly what the spell was as roots erupted from the ground to tangle him up. The creature wasn't going to give him another chance to get up, was it? It meant to keep him all tangled up so that it could eat him when it landed.
"Stupid monster, it could at least kill me instead of tormenting me like this." He muttered to himself, his eyes sinking closed, his body shivering all over as he waited for the end to come... not able to see the figure that was charging forward toward his prone form.
