Okay, so, these are mine?

Early morning, two days after the incident, Tahigwa had made up her mind. She inched her way outside of the healing hut, swiveled her way past her brother, and paddled herself across the isles. It was a nice day, warm, with a soft breeze billowing over head like a gentle caress. Ilyra had gone on a mission to spy on the Obans, which had filled Tahigwa's heart with fear the night before, and though she was on a mission of her own at the moment, her heart was with her sweet girlfriend as she trotted her way across the sand. Hopefully no one here would stop to chat with her, especially if that someone were Ilyra's birth mother.

She crept, anxiously, against the side of edge of Isle Ekene, her eyes keeping close watch for anyone in the area. Elders, Yansa, Eshe, anyone out there could catch her and make her pause. She didn't have time to pause, or time to think, she had to go now, or let this precious time slip through her fingers. The guards standing watch were easy enough to converse with. They had yet to know her, or to hear of what had happened across the water. She felt they were safe, not naive, but safe. They allowed her to pass with a smile and returned to their positions as the had been before, making Tahigwa feel all the more comfortable as she went around the bend.

"Great Mother, it's Tahigwa, again." She greeted, bowing inches before Aisha's shortest bough. "...I have something that I would like to ask you."

The area was still, but filled with sound, and a swirling wind waved over Tahigwa as she moved to embrace Aisha as she had always done. She smiled, stepped back, and knelt once more.

"I have no doubt that you heard what happened to me, and to the Sisters who I needed to punish." She began. "I pray with all my heart that you understand why I needed to remove their dreads. They dishonored me and threatened my family when I had done nothing to them. I felt as though they had forgotten what being Sister was all about, and as such, I gave them a chance to regrow their own honor... Do you think I was wrong?"

As she finished speaking, a lotus close to her feet shook and unfurled, to which Tahigwa smiled. She gently plucked the lotus from it's position, bowed her head, and drank the nectar that was inside, before placing the lotus back upon the branch it had been on.

"I understand. Thank you." She said, giving the lotus a gentle pat. "...Now that we've crossed that bridge, Mother, might I ask you something else?"

A breeze blew low across Tahigwa's nose, causing her to sneeze, and then, laugh, as a petal had landed against the tip of her nose. Of course she could ask a question, why couldn't she? She wiggled herself into an upright position, placed her hands in her lap, and gazed up to Aisha adoringly.

"Aisha, I would like to have a child in my image." She began, brushing the petal off of her nose. "I know that I'm young and still learning, but, I've hit a blockade I don't think I'll be able to cross. ...This blockade would make it possible for me to be a mother, however."

The air was still, but not desolate, as if Aisha were merely listening to her and not turning her away. Realizing this, so took a breath, and continued.

"I am not in the right frame of mind to continue fighting in this war." She said. "My fear is too great at this point and all I want is to be among the Sisters at home who need me. Nyah still needs a proper teacher and all of the ones who I trust have long since been tasked with war time projects. Instead of me, her older sister, going off to war where I feel the least proficient, wouldn't it be better if I stay home and teach her, while raising a young one of my own?"

The air remained still, but felt the same as it had before. Aisha was listening, not ignoring, listening, she could feel it. Just breathe and continue.

"Yaholo told me that Pahana, his sister from his father in Tale, has had twin daughters this past summer." She said, pursing her lips. "They were born healthy and strong, especially the younger of the pair, who, I was told, was partially named after my mother. An act of gratitude for all the support she showed Pahana when her mother threw her out of the house." She paused, chuckling. "I suppose you could say that I'm a little jealous of her, being the first to give Yaholo some nieces to watch over, and all. I mean, really, though. Both my siblings, sans Nyah of course, have children, and, I can't help but feel a little left out. Do you think it's silly for me to be jealous or..."

She gazed to the side, her words suddenly falling away. There was a breeze again, but it was more like a gentle wind pushing against her side. She peered, almost cat-like, to a branch near the very base of the tree. There, two uniquely colored blossoms had formed, ones that hadn't been there before, which brought tears to Tahigwa's eyes.

"These... These are mine, Aisha?" She whispered, another gentle breeze weaving through her hair. "...Thank you."

"They'll be more than safe with me."

Holding Down The Fort

After her Uncle Yaholo, his mate Rilind, and her mother Tahigwa had left Tale to go to Sauti for the battle Zahra had been left alone with her twin, as well as their three cousins, tending to the little ones while the grown ups were away. It was one of those things that she had volunteered for, something she'd done her best at, but it was a trying time. It wasn't that the boys were bad, they were good kids, but instead it was just a lot of her fretting about what might come of the blockade. Would the extremists get their way? Would that mean that her uncle and cousins would be staying forever in Tale because they were safer staying far from Chibale? Would her mother and the others be able to over come their too zealous sisters and ensure that the boys were safe to return home? She missed them, missed playing with them, teaching them the funnest ways to get into trouble, and just wanted them to be able to come back.

Giving a bit of sighing sound she leaned back, looking up toward the stars, her antennae twitching out of sync of one another. If the worst happened, if the extremists got their way, then she would consider staying in Tale as well. She didn't really want to be there while the extremists took over the Chibale Isles, mostly because she didn't want to see the manner in which they would change it. It was tense as it was, with some of them showing their distaste for outsiders and hybrids alike. Despite that fact there were good people there... but she had a feeling that they would be thrown off the islands if they protested changes put in place by their more extreme sisters. Something that she would have to deal with because if they were put in charge then she wouldn't go back... the down side to that being that she would be away from Aisha. The thought of being without her Great Mother, being unable to see her, it was a thought that struck a little fear into her, but she at least had her family, right? Her twin, her mother, uncles, cousins, and the like, if she was unable to visit with Mother Aisha again she would find a way to continue on.

Lifting a hand Zahra set to chewing on her thumb nail in a thoughtful manner. If the extremists ended up taking control it meant that those born of Aisha would change, wouldn't it? No longer would those like her little cousins be born from the lotuses, instead it would only be pure, perfect sisters. She had a feeling that was the way in which things were 'supposed to be' according to her more extreme sisters but it felt as though that was stifling in a way. Love, even love outside of their own tribe, should be allowed to flourish. From what she seen love was something powerful, as well as something healing, it have happiness and hope, it was something she wanted one day. What if the one she fell for wasn't of the Alkidike Tribe? What if it was a man or woman from another tribe, one close by like the Shifters or one from far away like the Zenans or the Matori? If the extremists took control of the Chibale Isles, as well as Aisha, that meant that such a love would be frowned upon and that Zahra and her chosen mate wouldn't be allowed younglings.

It wasn't as though she planned to settled down any time soon, nor was she seeking a child any time soon, but at the same time knowing the choice was open to her was something that she had liked. If she fell in love, if she wanted a child, then she had that choice... but it was something that might very well be taken away from her. It wasn't something that she cared for in the least bit. Lifting her hands up she clasped them together tightly, lowering her head, and offered up a silent prayer to Aisha. Here was to hoping that things went well, in a way that left room for love, here was to hoping that her family members would return home safely, and here was to hoping that sooner then later that things would return to normal. She wanted things to go well, wanted Uncle Yaholo and the boys to return to Andile, and for her and Jowe to return to their adventures, pranks, and to dyeing people random colors while they slept. She wanted all that and she wanted peace.

"Heh, I probably sound like selfish child." She murmured to herself, her antennae giving a little twitch before she pushed herself up to her feet. Even if things went well there was always a chance something else might crop up. There were always dangers out there, be it other tribes, beasts, even the land itself, and that meant that she needed to prepare herself. That meant a weapon. It was something to think about another time though, she had to check on the boys who were sleeping at the moment, make sure they were all accounted for, then she'd go and see about curling up with her twin. Zahra was getting tired and unlike Rilind she didn't think she could patrol all day and night without rest. The man had dogged determination and resolve that she hadn't quite mastered yet. Perhaps with time though.

After one last glance in the direction that Zahra knew Aisha to be in she turned on her heel and headed inside. She first checked on the little ones, giving a smile when she saw the brightly colored radaku laying next to their bed. She gave a smile, lifting a finger to her lips to keep Pyre quiet, before ducking out again. Having that beast with them was an added layer of defense, according to Rilind, and was to stay with the boys at all time. From what she'd seen so far the radaku was never away from their sides, always keeping an eye on them like the guardian he was. It was what helped her to rest easy at night, knowing that if anything happened that he'd be sure to let everyone know.

Heading to the room that she was sharing with her twin she walked over to the bed, crawled into it, and flopped over on one side. She'd get some sleep in, though not too much, since she and Jowe would need to make breakfast in the morning. She'd make sure they held down the fort until the others returned, and they would return, it was something she knew in her heart and would pray every day for.

Motivation

The return of her mother, as well as the other members of his family, was something that had filled Zahra's heart with relief. That they were safe, that was what had been the most important thing to her at the time. Not just her either, but her twin, as well as the little trio that they had been looking after. They had all been so happy to see them, to see that they were able to make it back home alive. Zahra had stood back or a moment, watching as the boys crawled all over their parents, telling them about what they'd done in their parents absence. It had been quite the cute sight indeed... but after that she'd run to her own mother, clinging to her, and had to fight of tears as she'd done so. A teenager or not having her mother return safely was something that was worthy of celebration, as well as a couple tears.

Alright, it might have been more then a couple, but that was neither here nor there, nor would she admit to something so embarrassing if anyone were to ask her. Knowing that her mother, as well as her extended family, was what mattered most after all. After greetings, a lot of hugs, chatting, and a shared meal Zahra broke from the others to get a bit of fresh air. As she headed out the door she heard a very distinct sound of shuffling footsteps before Sticky ran of her side and draped himself lazily over her shoulders. Lifting a hand she scratched the Alol under the chin, "Hello, my sweet little Sticky-foot." She said in a sing song manner, giving her family a glance before stepping outside with her pet into the cool night air.

Once there she lifted her hands to rub them against her eyes, "I know that they aren't puffy but they sure feel it." She muttered, half to her pet and half to herself before she sat down cross legged, looking across the village of Yera. Now that the war was over, now that the extremists were gone, she found herself unsure of how she should feel. There was a part of her that was happy, as well as relieved, knowing that such people had banished. That meant that people like her cousins, as well as her friend Teiluj, would be safe from those awful people. No longer would their poisoned words reach the ears of those that didn't deserve their contempt, and that meant that her uncles would no long fear for the safety of their sons. It was a good thing that they were gone and yet a part of her was... sad. That it had come down to something so severe as a battle and then banishment. It felt extreme, but there was no other choice, right?

It would appear so from what she'd heard, but it wouldn't it be a blow to lose a pair of Mystics? Maybe? Maybe not... it was hard to say. It seemed as though having two mystics was the norm after all so things had just gone back to the normal status quo, right? Still, it was a loss that their tribe had suffered, that of their mystics and of so many of their sisters. That there was no other way, no chance for talking things out, no chance for peace. From what Zahra had seen and heard while on the Chibale Isles though it really felt as though talks of peace were over before they even began. There were so many that didn't want to talk peace, instead just wanting to get rid of things that were different. It had left her uncomfortable and a bit scared... but it should be alright now, right? The question then became had all of the extremists been sent away or were their others hiding in their midst like serpents in a bird's nest? She didn't want to believe it, wanted to think the best of her sisters, but at the same time she felt that it was something they should careful about.

Looking at her Alol Zahra gathered him up to sit in her lap, petting a hand against his cool, smooth skin and said, "I think that Joweese and I should go to the Chibale Isles, to talk to the elders, and see about becoming Blades." She told this to her pet in confidence, knowing that there was no way that he could really tattle on her or anything since he was a lizard. It wasn't something that she had brought up with Jowe yet, but after everything that had happened surely she must agree? Especially if the extremists decided to bid their time, gather their strength, and try to take back the Chibale Isles. Banishment was merely sending them away, it didn't mean that they had just disappeared, didn't meant that they were gone forever. No, it was just an out of sight, out of mind sort of situation and she couldn't just sit still forever and leave it at that. That was just waiting to be blindsided and she much preferred to to be the one to do the pouncing.

"I think after everything settles down then I will talk with her about it. I mean mother just got back so it wouldn't be very nice of us to wander off straight away after she returned, right?" She'd give it some time, spend some time with her mother and her family, and then she'd seen about going back to the Chibale Isles. It would be nice to head there knowing that there wouldn't be anything to fear, instead she'd be going to be given whatever challenge that the elders laid forth before her. She knew that one had to overcome trials to be allowed to become a blade and to wield a weapon in Aisha's name. It would be a weapon that she wielded to protect others she thought to herself as she laid back on the ground, arms crossed behind her head, with Sticky curled up on her lap. She'd head back inside soon, to rejoin the others, but for the time being she was content to remain where she was, watching the stars sparkle over head with Sticky.
