Tuck grunted real loud-like when Heidi approached, very gallantly allowing his girlfriend to snag some of his fruit.
"S'what I do best." He grunted manfully before pursing his lips. Tuck wasn't going to throw a fit, but he was going to feel a little disgruntled - the only reason he wasn't throwing a fit was the simple fact that Heidi seemed pretty excited about the tourney.
Plus he had dried MRE fruit, okay, and he really liked MRE fruit.
"Naw, I know you can handle yourself in a fight," Tuck continued half-heartedly. "You just gotta. Be. You know. Fast an' s**t. Go for the nuts. Repeatedly. Unless you fightin' me. Then don't go for the nuts."
Tuck cleared his throat when Finn approached, scowling slightly at that smile that didn't really seem to reach the other man's eyes.
"You n' me first, chief. I'm Heidi's boyfriend." Tuck wasn't pawing at the ground with nostrils flared but he might as well have been. He wasn't trying to be particularly chest-thumpy, but it was happening despite his best attempt to be friendly.
Suddenly there was a Stormy, and Tuck offered his adopted sister his attention and a grin.
"Always ready. You ready? Glad there ain't no charges, I ain't in the mood to watch you an' Evan beat the sh -- crap outta yourselves."
He didn't recognize the bright-haired little thing that approached next, but he offered her a grin and a bright big-brother-ish smile. "Heeeeeeeeeeeeey," Tuck kept smiling and spoke softly, almost as if he were speaking to a skittish little puppy or something equally tiny and adorable. "You gonna do jus' fine. Whats your name? I'm Tuck."

"You can say s**t, you know," Stormy said, suddenly blunt. "I'm not five." This was apparently her way of both addressing Tuck and indirectly answering Heidi's question, as she too turned to see their newest member--at which point she remembered she was supposed to not look like anything was wrong. Poor thing.
"Group, meet Abbi. Abbi, group. She's a new Moon." Individual introductions were easily theirs to make from there as Tuck was already doing, though apparently she knew Finn already? (How unfortunate) Lightly crossing her arms, Stormy sighed. "You wait your turn and then you do a quick timed match," she explained, a little softer in features but revealing tension in her shoulders. "It'll be okay. If you lose, then you don't have to worry about it anymore. If you win some, great."
Finn was still being completely ignored.

Oh, it was Lina. Stormy. Whatever.
Finn might have chose to ignore her appearance just as she chose to ignore his, but that wouldn't have really been very polite considering that the present company seemed to be friends of hers. It was only to be expected, really. She had been here first, had more time to get to know those on the island with her. Finn would always feel like he needed to tread a bit more lightly because of her being here, but that didn't mean he forgot what he told her.
Change. He had told her he wanted a clean slate, and a chance to be able to be different this time. He was fairly confident that he was succeeding, so far...maybe. Okay so there had been a few slip ups.
He offered her the same smile as the others, one that she could at least recognize as being the way he always smiled. "Stormy. How have you been? You look...tired." There was no 'darling' added on for her. She knew him well enough to see through facade of kindness that he directed at her so the effort would have been wasted.
At Heidi's mention of his hair, he was almost taken aback, momentarily forgetting that he had recently changed it, still a bit startled when seeing his own reflection or when a lock of it fell in front of his eyes. Still, as one who put a lot of effort into appearances, he appreciated the compliment, and showed it with his smile widening.
"Thank you. I thought it might be time for a bit of change."
And here came the introductions. It didn't escape Finn's notice that the man, Tuck, as it turned out, seemed to be that type. The one that felt the need to piss all over what he thought he owned, marking his territory, making sure everyone knew what was his. In this case, Heidi, but Finn only continued to smile, now letting out a light chuckle as well, while reaching up to run fingers through his newly-blonde hair.
"Well, I look forward to going head to head with you, Tuck." He held out his hand towards the other man in an amiable manner, voice smooth with just a hint of cheerfulness to it. Though, judging by the other mans size compared to his own, and that they wouldn't be allowed to use charged attacks, Finn was already beginning to feel a little bit out of his depth. How was he supposed to come out on top against this monster?
And then came the arrival of Abbi, and just the quiet, shyness of her voice combined with that innocent confusion made him somehow feel bad for altering his appearance in any way and making her sound so very lost when she found him. He turned and smiled down at her, reaching as he had on other occasions with an arm to put around her and pull her into a quick one armed hug.
"Of course it's me, darling. Who else would it be?" He rubbed a hand up and down on her shoulder, giving her one last little reassuring squeeze before letting her go to converse with the others, letting his gaze wander beyond her and back towards Fini again. No, he was not checking on her. That was ridiculous.
What he saw though, he didn't exactly like.
Jack.
No.
He was going to have to find away to politely excuse himself to head over in a moment, but for now he would just keep an eye on things from a far.

Fini winced as Bix spun around looking flustered. Maybe he should have had some extra help with this? She just tried not to laugh at him and gave his shoulder a quick squeeze. "Well you should be proud! I think it's a great turnout. Just, y'know, don't wear yourself out too much." She smiled sweetly to her friend-
annnnd face-palmed as another walked up. "Jack, I think your spidey senses for that type of stuff is lacking." She replied, glancing back at Bix. "Promise you'll not overdue it?"
"You and I, it seems, get to sit round one out." Fini pointed towards some section of the braket board that was supposed to have each of their names scribbled down somewhere. "So we'll just have to bother someone elses first battle while we wait!" Like Finn.
She had noticed that he'd arrived, and made eye contact once. But then Jack had come over and blocked her view. How thoughtful of him.
"Anyone in particular you're excited to possibly fight?" She asked him curiously.
Bix finally stood up on a chair and whipped out his trusty paper megaphone.
"HEY GUYS!! Glad to see you all come out for this. We're gonna start the battles shortly so let me just get a few things out of the way. You should see some signs around directing you to the different arenas. The paths are marked with string and colored flags so you don't get lost. Due to the great response we've had to space the battling out all over the island. Feel free to spectate at ANY of the battles but there will be STRICT enforcement of NO PHYSCIAL INTERFERENCE." He took a breath and looked around. His face seemed to be turning more pink under all the eyes on him.
"First round will be starting shortly, like I said. Battles will begin at sporadic intervals but I will announce them here for everyone. Bracket tracking will also take place.." he tapped the dry-erase board. "Right here."
He paused again and swore he heard crickets chirp. Ok ok . Wrap it up. "We got great prize packs for the winners and I know that matters to you guys so ummm... Ok.. Uhhh.. without further ado, THE TOURNAMENT IS OOOON."
Please remember: - Spectators are WELCOME in battle threads! Heckling is ENCOURAGED! You are unable to physcially interfere though. - It would be nice if you waited until AT LEAST the first attack has happened. - This ORP thread is always open for coming and going and RP. - Battles will be staggered in terms of timing, for my sanity mostly. I'm being flexible about the 48 hours and this is noted in each battle thread. - Additional ROUND 1 battles will open over the course of today!! - HAVE FUN!!

Harland loitered somewhere off to the side, not really approaching anyone. He was pretty tired, and the whole eating-rations and studying by candlelight thing was starting to get to him. He'd been drawing diagrams of possible approaches to the titans for a while now, none of them probably remotely accurate given he hadn't had time to approach one yet.
He'd slept, sure, but he wasn't feeling up to social interactions just at this time. He had to save that energy for interactions in the near future with his opponent. Couldn't be rude to them, after all. At least this tournament would hopefully make him feel a bit better about his current life; a physical outlet for all the stress and frustration would be welcome.
He brushed his fingers along Coyote, thinking. He'd never met his opponent before. What did they even look like? What would an Alaska look like?
He tipped his hat down over his eyes lower and jabbed his thumbs through the loops in his belt, heading towards his first fight.
[[OOC: THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR hard work halo ; u; <3]
Noah hung around the whiteboard, jittering nervously. He'd been in all of one fight so far, and while he'd done okay at that, he wasn't totally sure why he'd signed up for a tournament. He was going to lose spectacularly. With people watching.
WE WILL BITE, Lazarus said calmly.
You're not helping, Noah whined.

Roland walked by as the call for the newest matches began. His was one of the first ones up for the opening rounds. Near by seemed to be a rather jittery Life hunter.
Sylvia was summoned resting easily over his shoulder as he walked by patting the other hunter on the shoulder. "Don't look so jittery. These fights are tame compared to what you're going to see outside of this and the training spars."
He took another look at the Hunter, "You're a fresh hatch aren't you?"
Noah jumped a mile. Thankfully, though, this time he managed not to come down with Lazarus summoned. He would count that as a small victory. "T-tame?" he squeaked. "Um, I saw the, the titan, but, I, what do you mean? I only woke up, like, a week or so ago."
He stared at the stranger, nervous and wide-eyed and so very, very shiny new out of the pod.

Roland scratched his cheek a bit before nodding slowly. "Yeah. Tame. We can't use weapon charges so you can't really do some super serious damage. I mean hunters might hit each other pretty hard. But no explosions of magic or anything this fight." His shoulders rolled in a shrug at the whole Titan thing.
"Yeah the Titan's a good idea of what we deal with, but you haven't met what we hunt. Those things. That's danger if they get you."
Eventually a hand raised up to Noah's, "Roland Taft. You?"
"Noah Andersen," Noah squeaked. In spite of his obvious nervousness, his handshake was firm. "Um, nice to meet you. Are you in the tournament? What do you mean by those things?"
LIKE ME, Lazarus put in.
But you're my weapon?

"Good to meet you Noah. Good luck if you're in a match today." His own hand shake was firm, if a tad relaxed. "Yeah I am, I'm in the intermediate division rounds." He looked at the board, "Fighting Reine it seems? I don't know her." Looking back at Noah he shrugged, "Monsters really. Ghosts, demons, undead, whatever they call theme selves. Halloween."
"I don't know who I'm fighting yet, I start in the second round," Noah admitted. "I barely know anyone yet, I've met some people but I don't know if I can really say I know anyone. Everyone seems to know more about what we do than I do."
He blinked at Ro. "Halloween? Um, Laz, Lazarus, my weapon, he said things like him, but I didn't quite get that. He says he's a zombie dog."
